Went out again today. I'm starting to get the hang of working with the incredibly uncooperative PokéStops near my house. The local Gym is under Team Valor's control, but even though I'm on Team Valor, I couldn't see an option to leave a Pokémon there, since apparently doing so gets me PokéCoins and Stardust. Hatched a Weedle from an Egg, and wasted basically every Poké Ball I found today on a Pidgey that was incredibly tough to catch. Gonna hold onto this one, though- might end up even stronger than my current Pidgeotto when it evolves. On my way home, passed someone who informed me of a Hypno just down the street, though this was after I ran out of Poké Balls, so I didn't go for it anyway. My strongest is a Hypno anyway, so I suppose it's not a huge loss.

Unfortunately, there's very little in my area, so I have delegated my Pokemon GO playing to hatching eggs while taking runs. Since I have been back from UPNCon (2 day span), I have run a total of 36 km and hatched like, 14 or so eggs. Two Dratinis and a few Charmanders, notably!

Catch as many Weedle, Caterpie, and Pidgey as you can. Evolve as many as you can, transfer them in, and use the Candies to evolve even more. They have the lowest evolution requirement, so that's a pretty good way to farm experience.

YAAAAAAAAAAS
I think level 8 or 9 is the sweet spot, because then you get to use 6 pokemon in gyms and it introduces razz berries and lucky eggs! |

So I am going to six flags tomorrow and I wasn't super duper excited because it meant a lot of walking after walking a lot at my job but than I realized it will probably be great for finding Pokemon if not be a gym/poke stop so I am now a lot more excited!

Oops, sorry ^^;; Obviously I was unable to test it.
I'm really excited because everyone at work knows I love pokémon and they took pity on me not having a smartphone so they're letting me borrow an iPad to play over WiFi!! I can't do everything, but I'm really happy to be able to play a little! I'm seriously considering getting smartphone for it though.

Pretty sure my work is going to ban Pokémon Go at the office, someone was late to a Director's meeting because they really wanted a Jigglypuff.

The local library has four Pokespots directly in front of it which apparently constantly have lures set up. According to a friend you can find anywhere from 20 to about 500 people there depending on the time of day. It is literally impossible to park your car and go into the library most of the day.

Yeah. I mean. It's not scaremongering to suggest that people are going to be killed doing this. People have literally fallen into caves, ended up in abandoned buildings and the like.
Less morbidly, my LinkedIn is absolutely rammed with articles which either a) predict that PR/marketing bods are going to ape this thing to make big bucks or b) are PR/marketing bods aping this thing to make big bucks Interesting times. |

So far my experience with gyms has been: Capture gym, hold for an hour, someone takes it - later that day the same gym is only being held somehow by two extremely low level Pokemon.
I popped a lucky egg tonight and evolved 8 Pidgey and 6 Rattata and instantly went up an entire level, so that was nice. What wasn't nice was finding a Clefairy only for it to run away after one ball throw. This now makes three Pokemon that have done this to me that I still have yet to capture. I've also taken the advice to hold onto Stardust for as long as possible, and to hold off on evolving anything for the team. I've gone a few days now without either and I know the pay off is going to be worth it, but I'm so impatient. I have 64 Nidoran M candies stocked up, and as soon as I can get to 125 I'm going to warp digivolve up to a Nidoking - hopefully its CP will be worth it... In other news, players in South Korea are spotting Farfetch'd, some in a fast food restaurant chain. Between this and the McDonald's logo being seen in the game's code, I'm inclined to believe that McDonald's is going to be doing a Farfetch'd promotion in the US. ugh |

I have zero problems with Pokemon of all things being exploited for individual gain and profit. T-Mobile already announced they would be giving away unlimited data for Go for a year and the CEO announced it with a selfie he took with Jigglypuff. Between that and all of the small businesses that are PokeStops and big retailers putting up Pokemon Go endcaps... I mean, it's like it's 1999 all over again, really.

Agree. It just amuses me that suddenly my office, which knew me as that guy who has a Zapdos T shirt, is suddenly out nerding me as I'm yet to bother to get the app.

I know there are a lot of people who are put off by a lot of 'genwunners' and those wearing nostalgia goggles hopping back on the Pokemon train for the first time in 15+ years, but personally, I'm enjoying this 'second wind' and like the camaraderie, and hope many of them stick around. Pokemon has a way of bringing people together in different ways for different reasons that not much else can attest to being able to achieve.

Yeah. I mean to be honest I was being a pompous twat last night* when people in the bar were pronouncing it "Ratacat". I liked being the only one who knew what a Beedrill looked like.

Though I think genwunners as a whole are stupid I am not put off at all by the fact that they like Pokémon Go too.
If anything it forms a much needed bond since its something that you objectively can't really have differing opinions about based off of Gens (unless they pull shit like its only good/bad because the furst 1s r ther). Plus maybe they get enamored again and see the newer ones aren't that bad, making a sales boost of main game, and effectively introducing a second generation of fans. |

This is what happens when a rare Pokemon spawns in Central Park.

Why is it that the Pokemon radar is always set to 3 footsteps away. Even if the Pokemon is literally right next to me ~_~;; |
