Boxers or Briefs? Which is better.
A classic in the realm of hard choices, right up there with "Panties or Stockings?"
If you wear men's underwear, which form do you prefer? Also, if you are attracted to men, which form of undergarments do you prefer on your men?

Just like everything else that get hot, ventilation is key.

I own and wear all three kinds interchangeably. The only time I really have a preference besides the Whim of the Day preference is when I plan to exercise in which case I find that boxer briefs are the best. Since the question was "Which is better?", I guess this means I'll go with boxer briefs for my vote. But on a normal basis, I don't find any of the three to be "better" than the others. It's just a matter of what you feel like wearing that day and/or of what's available.

I agree that they're mostly interchangeable. However, boxers seem to be the least versatile because they only really work under similarly loosely-fitting pants. Plus, wearing boxers under shorts won't always end well.
A couple more options come in to play when exercise is involved. If it's a workout or sport in which I'll be wearing shorts, I prefer ``compression boxers'', which are pretty much an athletic version of boxer briefs. On the other hand, if tight pants are involved, I'll go with what is essentially the men's equivalent of a G-string. Those also come in handy when clubbing with Loki. =3=

I wear boxers over briefs in winter. I've done that since high school, as it provided me a way to wear short pants even in the most freezing temperatures.
Generally though, I've felt boxers are the more socially acceptable to show off. If you're a guy and you want to be seen in your under-wear, there's no negative to wearing boxers. But if you wear briefs, you need to make them look good. I don't really understand Loki's ventilation argument. When wearing just boxers, boxers are going to have more ventilation than briefs. Briefs are better when wearing wide pants, but I run in long pants often and I haven't noticed much difference in total ventilation, just what areas are cooled.

If Lindz made this poll, you know there would be an option for Manties.

Come on, Emgee. Everybody should know what Manties are by now.
Manties: n. - A portmanteau of the words "Man" and "Panties" to signify a certain type of panties that are worn by men. Such undergarments are typically uncomfortable, but fans of the manties are willing to ignore the discomfort or see it as manly. Critics said, "stupid" and "Help me I'm tied to a chair" (See also: Zaphod Beeblebrox).

However, boxers are nice in hot weather and when you need to change clothes in front of other people. It's...odd to wear briefs and then pretty much be 100% certain that anyone who happens to be looking in your direction can see your penis clearly outlined through the cloth, which simply doesn't happen in boxers. Or boxer briefs, generally. OR BOXERS OVER BRIEFS IF YOU ARE CHEAP LIKE ME AND ALREADY HAVE BOTH. (I prefer boxer briefs but have none )

i wore all three for an extended period of time so i feel i am the most qualified
briefs, too constricting, only really ok during the winter, but horrible for spontaneous tenting. but they basically last forever boxers, freeing to say the least. but too much room for activities can be annoying at times, especially during some kind of physical activity like running or whatnot. they eventually get beaten down very quickly and loose their shape making them uncomfortable and feel almost kilt like boxerbriefs are my new underwear of choice and i dont believe i will ever switch back. i have a certain type ill post a link if i can find it. basically hugs around your leg and have like these "suspension" cables here and there (just thicker material in key places, some have elastic in them) so the underwear doesn't shift and gives you the perfect amount of room for activities, with breathability not offered in briefs and support and (if you work out) absorption not offered with boxers. the brand i use is called champion. i usually find them at costco Spoiler: show the face of pure comfort

Some of you have put far too much thought into this :p. I wear boxers, for the simple (if somewhat irrational) reason that briefs are what I wore when I was a kid (before I bought my own clothes).

oh yea, looking at the packaging of those boxer briefs i posted reminded me of something super important! those "suspension cables" i mentioned before also prevent self inflicted wedgies boxers tend to give you
