Loki introduced me to MetalKid's IV calculator, but there's a problem. According to it, my Litwick's Special Attack is impossibly high. These are all accurate values, though I used a Rare Candy for the last one.

You can't use the IV calculator and expect reliable results if you've already been using the Pokemon in battles and haven't kept track of the EVs it's gained from every last one of these.
In your case, you shouldn't even be using an IV calculator: for the last time -.-;, go get the B/W-compatible version of Pokesav. Even if you never use it for any other purpose, you can (and SHOULD) be using it to see what the IVs are of every single thing you've ever caught. Much faster / much less hastle than playing the MetalKid guessing game with Rare Candies.

Well, I don't know what to tell you. The calculator shouldn't be reporting impossible values if you're sure you have the right data input for the following:
* the right species * the right stat numbers in the right columns * the right nature * to help it out, the right IV clue (it's a message like "Alert to sounds" or "Hates to lose") * the right EVs in the right columns I've had it happen where perfectly legit and virginal Pokemon were reported as having impossibly high stats on Serebii's calculator before, but I'm not so sure about MetalKid's. The only times it's ever happened to me is when I've messed up one of the things above. (Like having the nature reset on me unexpectedly back to its default setting, Adamant, when I was looking at a Modest creature. Naturally you can imagine how that might produce what the calculator perceives as an illegally large SpAtt stat!) What I can tell you is: 1) you're using a ROM 2) Pokesav works with .sav files 3) you should have a .sav file along with the rom you're playing 4) Pokesav lets you see the IVs and EVs of anything you have and with mega-ease If you own the games, you have to use MetalKid's services. They're great given what alternatives the fans have. (Read: shitty IV indicator NPCs in the games starting with Emerald.) But for those who can make use of Pokesav, it's insane not to use it for determining IVs.

That's pretty weird given that all DS games generate a .sav file when you first save the game. This is why people are able to download their .sav files from their retail paks to their computers (so they can back things up or, if they want to, so they can edit their files and then re-upload them). This is also why people are able to upload .sav files from their computers to retail paks. See: SavSender. (Note: SavSender does not work with the newer IR paks [2009/10 onward] because the IR paks automatically reset your DS when you insert them into the system. However, even the IR paks still use .sav files.)
It's possible that your emulator is saving the .sav files in a special folder somewhere. It's also possible (though I have a hard time imagining this) that your emulator is actually modifying the .nds file itself. (This shouldn't be the case though since even retail games do not do this! If they did, then it wouldn't be And it's also possible that the .dsv files are the save files on your system. I looked up what .dsv was to see if it was possibly what your emulator was naming the save files. According to at least one source, .dsv represents homebrew video files for the DS. Don't know what that has to do with a battery. I've never seen .dsv files myself, only .nds and .sav. However, according to another source (link), it does indeed appear to be the case that .sav and .dsv are related. It looks like some emulators use the .dsv format. Dunno why as this is pretty stupid / it's not out-of-the-box compatible with retail flash carts the way that a .sav file is, but whatever. If you can find a .dsv-to-.sav converter, you should be good to go. Alternatively, it doesn't hurt you to try experimenting on your own: see if you can't open the .dsv file with Pokesav. For all I know, Pokesav natively supports both formats. I doubt it, but who knows?

Tip on the Subway: Do Multi. If you get lucky, she'll get something like Archeops or Braviary and be able to basically sweep for you. I've managed to beat the Bosses once and get quite a bit of BP already (though only enough for 2 Power items).
Rangeet: One of the .dsv files is compatible with PokeSav (though it'll spit some weird stuff out on occasion). Try all three or whatever and one should work. Last edited by Jerichi; 03-26-2011 at 12:32 PM. |

Like Rangeet I am using DeSuMe. However, I don't even have a .dsv to play around with (all I have is the .nds). Something I tried was create a Save State under the File Menu while the emulator was on, which creates something in the Save folder called a .ds1, then change the file extension to .sav and load it with PokeSav.
I was able to get corrupted results using PokeSav with this, but I can't really trust the information I was looking at. It seemed to have gotten Litwick's IVs correct, but most of my other Pokemon were flat out wrong/contradictory with the information I had.

Pokesav? I went to the bulbapedia page for Pokesav and clicked on the source link which said that this one translated the Black/White Sav to English. http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=256531

It's 12 hours of staring at a "Please Wait, this may take 5 minutes or more" screen.

Does anyone know how to transfer your eeveelution to your cart.
A step by step instruction would be nice, I have only finished the game so far. |

Try game sync in the place where you had to save that psychic floating thing. You know, the giant bed or whatever.
I think that's it. |

Just nabbed myself a Cloud Nine Lickytung.
Surprisingly easy and fun. Next time I'll get one of those *coughbrokencough* Moody Bidoof. I got two of 'em. Also, time to check if Masquerain's DW ability is any good. |

And here I'm sure you were hoping for something a little more ... watery. (Oh, Masquerain. You and Volbeat both. Poor, poor Volbeat. Poor, poor Masquerain. Definitely belong on the Pokemon version of this island.)
