Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, welcome to the first official Contest Hall ever established in the realm of Fizzy Bubbles! Here we hold contests in order to determine who is the cutest, sweetest, most adorable Pokemon of all! Is your Pokémon so adorable that everyone who sees it says "Aw"? Then this is most definitely the place for you!

In order to perform at your absolute best in the contests, you will need to train up your Pokémon's stats in the category you wish to participate in to at or near Lv.100. There will be no minimum requirement for the Normal Rank but obviously you will fare better if your Pokémon has some training. In order to proceed to Super Rank you must have the won the Normal Rank Ribbon and have a minimum of 30 points stat training. To proceed to Hyper Rank you must have won the Super Rank Ribbon and have minimum stat training of 60, and to proceed to Master you must have won the Hyper Rank Ribbon and possess a full 100 stats in your chosen category.

And remember... The higher number of "Cute" points your Pokémon has, the better you'll do. At any rank. (Except for Master. Master Rank is ALL skill, so good luck!)

Moves

When you sign up for the contest, please post the full details of the Pokémon you are wanting to enter. They may only use the moves that they have on the day you FIRST post in a Contest Thread. Any moves learned after that time will be considered null and void. If you are caught cheating, expect a 3 month ban from all Cute Contests.

What are Appeals?

Appeals are a show of your Pokemon's move of the category in question. Let's say that you enter a "Tough" Contest. Moves like Bubblebeam or Covet aren't "Tough" moves, so using them in a "Tough" Contest is rather pointless. Other moves, like Submission, or Karate Chop, need a "Tough" Pokemon to make them work (Despite the game's typing of Submission as a "cool" move.) Each Appeal is out of 100 points.

How do the Contests work?

Each Contest (at least here) will have two rounds of the "Appeal" portion. The first will be between 8 competitors. The four who get the best Appeal score will move on to the second Appeal stage. From there, the two who recieve the best Appeal score will face each other in a five round match to see who can cause the most damage in the short time. (Akin to the Animé's "Five minute" match to decide the victor.)

Shops

Pokémon in shops can be used in Contests. Just like the Gyms. However, your Pokémon cannot use any moves it learns AFTER you post in here registering for a contest.

Anyone is allowed to enter, even if it's your first time at Appeals.

You only enter ONE Pokémon. This Pokémon will be used for the entire Appeal process.

The Pokémon used MUST be one of your active Party Members. They can't be in your PC.

Appeal Rules

"Beautiful" and "Smart" moves can be used without penalty. Your score will be lower should you use a "Tough" or "Cool" move, however.

You may order a 3-move combo for the Appeal. Remember, you're trying your best to be "Cute", though Beauty and Smart moves are allowed. So don't go around ordering a shitload of "ROCK SMASH" or something like that >>;

Battle Round Rules

During the battle round, you will PM your attack choices to the ref of the match (which will hopefully be me, and maybe helpers later on), to keep things fair. The Pokemon who caused the most damage to the opponent will win the match, and the coveted "Cute Contest Ribbon�!

EDITED RULES:

There is a 120 Hour DQ time. If the orders are not received, you will be DQed from the match.

Round 1 Appeals are changed a bit. You will still order a 3-move combo to look as cute as possible, but... The points will be decided differently. Your initial score, without counting moves, is the number of Cute Points you have divided by 5. Therefore, if you have 50 points, you'd have 10 Appeal points. 100 = 20. Everything else is decided by how well your moves look.

(01/19/09): Scoring from now on will be based on categories, and each move that’s used in the Appeal will be graded on an individual basis. In addition to the initial score you earn from presenting your three moves in an effective manner, scoring will also be based upon Creativity, Overall Flow of the Appeal, and Overall Cuteness/Audience’s Reaction.

Creativity can incorporate a number of aspects, including how original your Appeal is, how well you used the stage/props to enhance your Appeal, and whether your Appeal compliments your Pokémon’s unique personality.

Overall Flow means how well your Appeal worked together as a whole. This is based on whether all your moves worked extremely well together, whether your Appeal adheres to a certain theme throughout, etc. Using combos can also boost your Flow score, which I will explain later in further detail.

Overall Cuteness is basically what it says. Is your Appeal cute? Did the audience like it? Were there some parts that were more adorable than others, or was it consistently excellent throughout? Here is where Cute Points come into play, as they add to your initial score. Conversely, points can be deducted from this category if the Pokémon’s Appeal somehow damages the stage or the audience.

Here’s how the points divide up amongst the categories:

1st move: 10
2nd move: 10
3rd move: 10
Creativity: 20
Overall Flow: 15
Overall Appearance (Audience's Reaction) : 25

Each category will thus be graded out of the number that is beside it. In the end, the net total will be divided by the maximum number of points the Pokémon could achieve. So, for example, an Appeal’s final score looks like this:

1st move: 8/10
2nd move: 7.5/10
3rd move: 10/10
Creativity: 13/20
Overall Flow: 12/15
Overall Appearance (Audience's Reaction) : 20/25

Total Points Earned = 70.5
Total Possible Points = 90

Grade = 70.5/90 = 78.3%

Now, I mentioned before that there are ways to add points to your score. Using combos is one method. A combo is a succession of two or more attacks that complement one another. You may use an R/S/E-certified combo for guaranteed extra points, or you can come up with your own for a possible creativity bonus (Note: Coming up with your own combos does not add to your Creativity score, but may increase the bonus points you gain for your Flow score).

When you invent a combo, you must specifically state which moves are part of the combo, and it must fall under one of these classifications in order for it to qualify:

1) Two or more Attacks are used simultaneously (Ex: GROWL + TAIL WHIP)
2) The succeeding Attack(s) directly affect either the first Attack, or the one preceding the current Attack (Ex: Using FIRE SPIN, then adding to the volume of the vortex by using OVERHEAT)
3) The succeeding Attack(s) directly affect either the results of the first Attack, or the results of the one preceding the current Attack (Ex: Using PAY DAY, then using PSYCHIC to lift up the coins and draw a circle in the air with them.)
4) The first Attack is a buildup for the succeeding Attack(s), which utilize(s) the preceding Attack(s) as support or accompaniment (Ex: Releasing YAWN bubbles into the air, then using FLY to maneuver and perform tricks around them without popping any.)

Certified contest combos do not have to fall under these classifications, though doing so may increase the number of points you earn. But as long as the second move of the certified combo follows the first, it qualifies as a combo and will earn you extra points.

Using a two-move combo can add up to 10 points to your overall Flow score. A three-move combo can up to 20. However, your total score will still be divided by the maximum number of points you could earn, including the maximum points you were able to receive from the combo. Same goes for Cute Points, which can add up to a total of 25 points (+20 for Full Stats/+5 for wearing a Pink Scarf) to your Overall Appearance score. (This does not mean that your total score will necessarily be divided by the maximum number of points you could earn + 25. It will only be divided by the best score you could receive after including your Pokémon’s current Cute stats.)

Bio: Matilda, being the most mild Pokemon among Tim's group, is very gentle and warm hearted. Tim first met the young pig-like pokemon at the adoption center, where she was quick to great Tim kindly. Her adorable looks and mild nature warmed Tim up to her quickly and the two formed a strong bond. Tim was reminded of his mother's childhood partner, Giant the Mamoswine, who deceased before Tim was born. Matilda, being the kind soul she is, is always glad to offer help in any situation. With Matilda's strong ground and ice powers, she is sure to become a major powerhouse among Tim's team.

Bio:
Valor originally came from a family of circus performers belonging to the best dance crew in the world: the Jabbawokies. He however didn't want to join a dance crew like his 8 Brothers and sisters, he wanted to travel the world. However, since his bank account was marked "insufficient funds" he decided to set off walking with his two possesions, his Blue cap and Wristband. He walked for three days, until he met a teenager. That teenager was Tyson Gonza, who promised the turtle A home and food, as long as they were friends and Tyson was the trainer. Now they are travelling, Valor's Dance skills getting better everyday.
