Raid Boss Runerigus ★★★★ Health Gauge: 56% Shields Up: 0 Status: Leech Seed, Ability: Insomnia (Worry Seed), Sp. Att -4, Sp. Def +1, Sandstorm (3 turns left) Grassy Terrain (4 turns left), Safeguard (2 turns left), Fire Spin (3 turns left). Trainer Recovery Summary: Gary, Torterra: Giga Drain Gary, Torterra: 400 HP lilboocorsola, Chikorita: Giga drain lilboocorsola, Chikorita: 271 HP Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Revenge (120 BP) Missingno. Master, Skiddo: 173 HP Attack 2: Max Quake (130 BP) myahoo, Sableye: 0 HP Attack 3: Phantom Force (90 BP) lilboocorsola, Chikorita: 122 HP Raid Challengers Gary (Torterra): 400 HP (Att +1, Sp. Att +1) lilboocorsola (Chikorita): 122 HP (Att +1, Def -1, Sp. Att +1) Sneaze (Kingdra): 0 HP (Must sit out 1 round to recover) myahoo (Sableye): 0 HP (Must sit out 1 round to recover Missingno. Master (Skiddo): 173 HP (Att +1, Def +1 [Grass Pelt active], Sp. Att +1) Slash (Watchog): 281 HP (Def -1) Median Dia (Clauncher): 481 HP (Def -1) [Dynamaxed: 1 Turn Left] sixdragons_in_atrenchcoat (Goomy): 300 HP (Fully Recovered) Despite an ally falling, the raiders are resolute in their offensive pressure, breaking the last three shields with a torrent of water and a barrage of explosive seeds, and even as Dracen's attempt to spur on the defeated Goomy falls flat, the Skiddo's tact on dispelling the psychic terrain leaves the boss wide open to a pair of powerful Giga Drains, replenishing much of the health lost previously. At this point the Runerigus covers its face with its hands, rubbing at it, and when it removes them again the painted grin on the face is now a snarling grimace, the raid boss officially done going easy and taking the battle seriously. It begins by staring directly at Willa, fully aware of the brains behind the goat pokemon, and promptly takes a vicious revenge upon it, the grass pelt reducing some of the damage but still delivering a heavy blow upon the pokemon, before the boss swings back at the Sableye with a brutal Max Quake, knocking the other ghost type clean out. Somewhat pleased at this, the phantom then suddenly vanishes before undoing the Chikorita's healing and then a little more with a forceful strike from the nether before settling back down, the grass beneath it offsetting what damage the ongoing Leech Seed is doing, though the whirling flames are giving the boss some hassle. The victory is short lived though as the swirling sands finish the job the Curse started, the Kingdra collapsing. Dynamax Initiative: Median Dia, Clauncher (Activated, 1 Turn Left)

As things proceeded, Willa observed. The Goomy's Trainer had called for a Dragon Breath, seemingly unaware that his Goomy had been totally knocked out. Meanwhile, the Kingdra's Trainer provided some very surprising context to his previous repeated usage of Draco Meteor; Heart Swap! Certainly not a move Willa was prepared to hear commanded at all, as it was her understanding that such a move was only learnable by the Mythical Pokémon Manaphy. Which, last she checked, Kingdra was not. Then again, her boyfriend's Qwilfish could use Dark Void, so should this really surprise her so much?
After Runerigus took damage from this fresh round of attacks, it fixed its eye on Willa, who made a considerable effort to not be intimidated, or at least to not look it. An effort that was absolutely not made by a certain Poison-type specialist watching this unfold on the news, who had to actually be restrained by his Dusknoir lest he run right down and confront the Runerigus himself. However, Willa was far from defenseless here- though Runerigus's beef seemed to be with Willa, Skiddo bleated adamantly, daring the scary slab to strike him instead. And that's just what Runerigus did, landing a powered-up Revenge, a blow mercifully softened as it struck the Grass-type's Grass Pelt. Hard as the attack hit, it didn't even knock the Mount Pokémon off his feet. Willa gave a small smile as she saw for herself that Skiddo was alright, even if the Kingdra and Sableye weren't quite as lucky this time around. "Now, Skiddo! Razor Leaf!" she commanded. "BAA-AA-AA-AA-AAAH!" Skiddo bleated loudly, letting fly another barrage of sharp-edged foliage. OOC: Skiddo used Razor Leaf (55 BP; powered up by Grassy Terrain). |

Raid Boss Runerigus ★★★★ Health Gauge: 46% Shields Up: 3 Status: Leech Seed, Ability: Insomnia (Worry Seed), Att +2, Sp. Att +1, Sp. Attack 2: Max Knuckle (90 BP) Slash, Watchog: 132 HP Attack 3: Max Wyrmwind (130 BP) lilboocorsola, Chikorita: 129 HP Raid Challengers Gary (Torterra): 400 HP (Att -1, Sp. Master (Skiddo): 173 HP (Def +1 [Grass Pelt active], Sp. Att +1) Slash (Watchog): 132 HP (Def -1) Median Dia (Clauncher): 288 HP (Att -1, Def -1) sixdragons_in_atrenchcoat (Goomy): 300 HP Spurred on by the fall of their allies, the raiders continue their offensive, though the opening Watchog's Confuse Ray dissipates harmlessly off the boss's safeguard, to its amusement, but the follow up Razor Leaf and Seed Bomb are enough to force the boss to raise a second set of shields, more than half of which are busted down by the remaining group as the resonating cheering of their allies rejuvenates the Chikorita and Skiddo, the latter completely healed up. The joy is short-lived though, as the raid boss finally wisens up to their strength. Giving a whirl of its arms, a psionic beam strikes the Torterra and while it doesn't seem to do any damage, the brimming might of the walking forest is swiftly sapped as the Runerigus opts to continue the Kingdra's charity, swapping its severely lowered special attack for the grass type's offensive boosts! It then capitalises on this by slamming a mighty knuckle down upon the foolish Watchog for a very powerful hit, further bolstering its might, before once more targetting the supporting Chikorita, this time with an amped blast of draconic wind, one which all but nullifies any physical attack boosts the raiders may have. The ghost pokemon then cracks its fingers, powered up and ready to deal with the group, even as the Sableye and Kingdra return to the battle and the Clauncher's Dynamax comes to an end, shrinking back to its normal size. Things were progressing nicely, indeed. Runerigus had been forced to the point of putting up another shield, and Skiddo had even been healed up some by the efforts of the Sableye's Trainer while said Sableye was recovering, eliciting a nod of acknowledgement from Willa. But still she remained focused, even as Skiddo bleated impatiently. Willa shook her head. "Not yet," she murmured.
"Baa-aa-aa!" Skiddo responded, his leaves bristling. "Not yet!" Willa repeated herself. "Wait for it, Skiddo." ~~~~~ "Skiddo's getting impatient," Peeves observed, he and Keith still watching the raid unfold on the news. "Yeah, I hope it'll listen to Willa and hold off," Keith replied. "Skiddo's pretty headstrong... that said, he knows Willa knows her stuff, too," he added fairly. "I'm pretty sure this'll go well." "Let's hope so," Peeves stated, his singular eye fixed on the TV screen. ~~~~~ "Baaa..." mumbled Skiddo, not seeing the purpose in waiting. "If we attack now, we simply take off part of the shield, and it doesn't matter how powerful we are," Willa said. "But if we wait until the others take away the shield, we can hit it with all our might." "...baaaaaa!" Skiddo bleated in response. He sounded satisfied with this explanation, further proven as he too intently watched the shield. And then, with a great cracking sound, the shield was destroyed by the Watchog's Seed Bomb! "Now!" Willa commanded at once. "Razor Leaf, go!" "BAA-AA-AA-AAAH!" Skiddo bleated loudly, launching yet another volley of sharp leaves towards the towering possessed slab, now that it was completely open to said attack. OOC: Skiddo used Razor Leaf (55 BP; boosted by Grassy Terrain). Last edited by Missingno. Master; 05-14-2020 at 06:52 PM. Reason: Minor grammatical fix. |

Def +1 (Assault Vest)) sixdragons_in_atrenchcoat (Goomy): 300 HP The fight appeared to be going well enough for the raiders as the combined efforts of Goomy, Watchog and Sableye shatter the last of the Runerigus's shields, and with it the phantom appears to have weakened slightly, both defences dropping a little, which is enough for the followup assault to make a reasonable dent in its health. Not to be outdone though, the raid boss loosens up before exacting a swift payback as it raises both of its arms into the air. One coated in dark, vengeful energy, the other channeling intense phantasmal energy in another terrible Max move. Both fists hammer down repeatedly upon one unfortunate pokemon, one after the other, as the fell winds reduce the physical resilience of a number of the raiders and large rocks shower over the group as the runic painting pokemon exerts frustrations. Finally, it ceases its relentless assault and backs away, shuddering as the safeguard around it finally dissipates and the searing fire spin begins to waver slightly, but the damage is done as within the deep crater left by its onslaught lies Skiddo, completely knocked out by the brutal hammering and lucky enough to have been spared further injury by the dynamax energy shielding its unconcious form. The raid boss affixes its gaze upon the raiders, before once again rubbing at its face, its painted grimace turning once more into a grin as it raises its arms, relishing the combat. The latest onslaught of attacks were well-timed and very well executed, doing a great deal of damage. Runerigus, however, was not about to let this go unpunished, and its Payback was swift and merciless, landing a brutal blow on Skiddo. And to Willa's horror, Runerigus wasn't done with the grassy goat, and followed up with a frightful Max Phantasm. And as the dust settled, Skiddo lay in the resultant crater, totally knocked out.
For a moment, Willa couldn't speak, couldn't react. As she blinked, Skiddo seemed to change into the unconscious form of her Yanmega, and Runerigus into a gigantic version of her mother's Mega Gardevoir. But this didn't last- Willa shook her head slightly, doing her very best to keep her expression impassive, as she tended to do. Wordlessly, she held out the Ultra Ball, withdrawing Skiddo. She'd known it all along, she should've used something else, Skiddo was still too inexperienced, what a stupid, stupid mistake... ~~~~~ "...and that Max Phantasm appears to have defeated the Skiddo!" Diana Macks was exclaiming over the whirring of the helicopter blades. "No!" Keith exclaimed, jumping out of his seat. "No, that's- that- no! No! Oh, that slimy slab of-" "Am I gonna have to restrain you again?" Peeves asked in a bored tone. "For what I hope to be the last time, you are not going down there and tearing Runerigus a new one yourself." "I know, I know, I just... Gah!" Keith grunted, pacing around. "I... I hate to see her like that, Peeves!" he exclaimed, gesturing to the TV just as Marv's conveniently timed camerawork was focusing on Willa holding Skiddo's Ultra Ball close to her. "She took this hard, I know it. I know her." "It's not the end of the world," Peeves stated firmly. "Willa's not stupid, she knows she's not out of this completely, she knows the Dynamax Energy will heal Skiddo and she can get it right back in there." "Yeah... yeah," Keith panted, sitting back down. "I just hate to think what's gotta be going through her head right now..." ~~~~~ I'm so stupid, Willa thought to herself. I should've known better than to let Skiddo talk me into this... She took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself. ...OK. It's not like I've lost altogether, she reasoned. Skiddo is healing up right now. I can send him back in soon. And... and Skiddo... he really did do a lot of damage to Runerigus. And Worry Seed, that stopped Wandering Spirit from doing any harm... not to mention the Grassy Terrain... She allowed herself a small chuckle. I guess I was being stupid just now, she realized, looking down at the Ultra Ball with a small smile. Skiddo's been integral to this fight coming as far as it did. It'd be a poor way of repaying Skiddo to just give up now. And we might not be able to fight back just yet, but in the meantime, there is one thing I can do... And with that, Willa took aim with her Dynamax Band, the one she'd felt filling up with Dynamax Energy ever since Skiddo went down. Took aim at the Watchog, and fired that energy, to heal its wounds, just as the Sableye's Trainer had done for Skiddo earlier. OOC: Cheering to heal Slash's Watchog. |

"Well, that was fun while it lasted."
Even at this point, the novelty of witnessing a pokemon Dynamax firsthand was starting to wear off on Amicae, and it had only happened a handful of times. But that had always been somebody else infusing their pokeball in scarlet energy to the point of bloating far beyond what they were designed to handle, somebody else unleashing the building-sized monstrosity to push the battle closer to the Raiders' favor. This time, she hadn't been a bystander. She couldn't help but feel a rush of exhilaration as Kodiac- her Kodiac- took on the gargantuan mantle and gave his parasitic foe the crabby glower he frequently gave Cassandra. But that excitement same gave way to disappointment, and then to shame. The clauncher's Max Moves were noticeably lacking in power compared the ones Ami had witness before. It made sense, of course, that they would scale with the strength of the base attack like Z-Moves did, but that meant that the fact that the Water Gun Pokémon was still relying on, well, Water Gun was that much plainer for all to see. And of course, this show of incompetence was being broadcast for all to see! Thankfully, their assaults still busted through two of the enemies' Shields like any other Max Move would, so the average person likely wouldn't catch on, but more skilled Trainers certainly would. Silic certainly would. She was hoping to show her benefactor how much progress she'd made as a Trainer, and yet the newsies just had to go and mess that up! She sighed, and nodded reassuringly to her once-again shrimpy clauncher. "Alright, let's just keep annoying this guy as best we can. Hit 'em with another Bubble (40 BP)!" |
