Max Raid Boss Coalossal
★★★★
Health Gauge: 36%
Shields Up: 0
Status: Harsh Sunlight (2), Burn Up

Raid Boss Attack Summary:

Attack 1: Stat Clearing Shockwave

Attack 2: Stone Edge (100 BP)
Zorchic (Buizel): 180 HP

Raid Challengers:
  • Connor (Slowking): 280 HP (Dynamaxed, 1 turn remaining)
  • CrazyCreeperKid (Clauncher): 300 HP
  • Slash (Spinda): 195 HP
  • Zorchic (Buizel): 180 HP
With everyone back on deck, the raiders work together to break down the Coalossal's second wave of shields. Seeing Spinda gain another set of boosts seems to annoy the Raid Boss.

A strange shockwave leaves Spinda feeling under strength, the boosts he'd spent the entire raid compiling now gone in an instant. Buizel is hit by deja vu as another Stone Edge smashes into him, but thankfully he is more than capable of handling it while at full health.

Dynamax Initiative: Connor, Slowking
  • Trainers may only list 1 order per round. They are also permitted to using 1 item in lieu of an attack.
  • Dynamax Initiative will select a trainer at random. If a trainer has initiative, they may choose to Dynamax their Pokemon for a duration of 3 turns. Dynamaxed Pokemon may only select a Max Attack of a corresponding type from their registered moveset, or Max Guard in place of status moves.
  • If a hold item or ability’s effect is activated in the present round as a result of the previous round’s damage calculation or the present round’s orders, please state it clearly in your response.
  • If a trainer’s Pokemon is rendered unconscious, they may choose to cheer on their allies; opting to either remove one shield from the raid boss or healing one ally’s Pokemon by 50% of their max health.
  • Roleplaying your orders is optional, but $250 may be collected for responses of 250 words or greater, and Bond will accumulate only for the trainer’s active Pokemon in battle.
  • You have until Monday, May 18th to place your order.

I knew he'd end up doing that sooner or later. But let's go with another Superpower (120 BP)

Together, everyone managed to take down the shields, Spinda finishing with a super-powered Superpower to deal more than a tenth of the Raid Boss's whole health. However, Coalossal expelled a shockwave, finally stripping the Normal-type of its stat boosts that it had gained via Contrary. The Dynamax Boss then hit Buizel with yet another Stone Edge, but as the attack hit, Jake noticed something. A circular, elaborately patterned translucent force field appeared in front of Buizel, cracking some of the rock as the Stone Edge hit the Sea Weasel Pokémon. Of course. The Aegis of Frost. Jake had gotten it from a Fizzymas celebration and given it to Buizel to hold. Now, it finally came into play, weakening any physical attacks headed Buizel's way.

At least now that the shields were down, the Slowking, which was Dynamaxed, could finally deal damage without fear. It used Max Geyser to bring the rain back up, so luckily Buizel’s secret weapon could be put on hold. Jake had to admit, he was a little disappointed that Buizel couldn’t use one of his special moves. But at least they could say "Ha!" to the Coalossal, who was feeling mighty proud of itself just then for temporarily getting rid of its weakness to Water (and for resetting the Spinda's stat boosts). Now, the pouring rain washed over the Water-type Pokémon—all of them—powering up their STAB moves and rendering Coalossal’s Water weakness present once more (albeit only a singular weakness), like a recurring nightmare. Except in a good way for the raiders and in a bad way for the Raid Boss this time.

Jake nodded, grinning, and gave Buizel a thumbs-up. "You ready, Buizel? You feel the rain now, right?"

"Bui!" Buizel replied happily, bouncing back quickly from that Stone Edge.

"Alright, then! Buizel, Waterfall, let's go!" the Aura Guardian called out, pointing forward for emphasis.

"Bui..." Buizel slammed his hands into the ground to create a freshly opened crack. A moment later, a large swell of water came gushing out of the crack, and Buizel hopped on the current. As the water collided with the Raid Boss Coalossal with Buizel riding on top of the swell, the Water-type gave a kick—"Zel!"—and used it to push off and land back in front of Jake.

(OOC: Buizel uses Waterfall (80 BP, boosted by rain).)

Max Raid Boss Coalossal
★★★★
Health Gauge: 12%
Shields Up: 0
Status: Sandstorm (1)

Raid Boss Attack Summary:

Attack 1: Max Rockfall (130 BP)
Slash (Spinda): 19 HP
Attack 2: Solar Beam (120 BP)
Slash (Spinda): 0 HP
The raiders are buffeted by a Sandstorm!

Raid Challengers:
  • Connor (Slowking): 157 HP
  • CrazyCreeperKid (Clauncher): 281 HP
  • Slash (Spinda): 0 HP [KO'd, Fully Recovers in One Round]
  • Zorchic (Buizel): 161 HP
The sun is quickly quashed, replaced by rain once more as Slowking fires off its final Max Geyser. With the rain back in place, Buizel and Clauncher make good use of it, doing their best to push Coalossal closer to defeat.

Defeat won't come that easy. Still packing some surprises, the Raid Boss drops a Max Rockfall on Spinda, who really wishes they still had all of their defence boosts. The attack leaves Spinda on the edge of defeat, and things only get worse as a Sandstorm suddenly takes hold of the cavern. Through the stinging sands, the raiders spot a bright light as the Coalossal fires a powerful Solar Beam! Spinda is the unlucky target, who is left unconscious as the sandstorm continues to chip away at its teammates.

Max Raid Boss Coalossal
★★★★
Health Gauge: 5%
Shields Up: 0
Status: Sandstorm (2), Burn Up, +1 Atk

Healing

Slash, Cheer
Connor (Slowking): 300 HP
Connor (Slowking), Heal Pulse
Zorchic (Buizel): 300 HP
Raid Boss Attack Summary:

Attack 1: Max Knuckle (90 BP)
Zorchic (Buizel): 228 HP
Attack 2: Rock Slide (75 BP)
Zorchic (Buizel): 117 HP
CrazyCreeperKid (Clauncher): 157 HP
Connor (Slowking): 176 HP
The raiders are buffeted by a Sandstorm!

Raid Challengers:
  • Connor (Slowking): 157 HP
  • CrazyCreeperKid (Clauncher): 138 HP
  • Slash (Spinda): 300 HP [Fully Recovered]
  • Zorchic (Buizel): 98 HP
As the sands swirl, the raiders look to tough it through the storm. They take some time to heal themselves, a wise move considering the circumstances. Buizel manages to push through the sandstorm for some good damage, while Clauncher gives it his best.....

Coalossal doesn't seem to care about the raiders healing, he just continues to smash them mindlessly. A Max Knuckle crushes Buizel, boosting the Boss's attack which causes the following Rock Slide to sting even more.

It was sad that everyone was forced to heal at one time, since the raiders lacked the power to finish Coalossal off when the Raid Boss only had about an eighth of its health left. A Sandstorm even kicked up from Coalossal's Max Rockfall, increasing its Special Defense and forcing the Clauncher's Water Gun to be even weaker than it already was, despite being super effective.

Fortunately, the Slowking opted to use Heal Pulse on Buizel, restoring his health. In turn, the (fainted) Spinda's Trainer healed the Slowking with his Dynamax Band. Now, save for a little scratch on Clauncher and the Spinda who was in its ball at the moment, everyone was looking good as new. They continued attacking, though the Clauncher's Water Gun fell just short of finishing the Coalossal. The Dynamaxed Rock/Fire-type slammed Buizel with a Max Knuckle and followed up with a power-packed Rock Slide.

Despite the amount of hits he had taken, Buizel jumped up in no time. He and Jake exchanged glances and nodded. No doubt it would be the best action. With that, Buizel summoned forth a wave of whitewater from the earlier crack and hopped on, disappearing into the sand.

Jake didn't see what happened, but he could hear it. He didn't need aura abilities to know that Buizel's Waterfall was the last straw—the Sea Weasel Pokémon's kick elicited a roar from the exhausted Coalossal as it sank back into the ground. Buizel triumphantly jumped out of the dissipating Sandstorm back at Jake's feet, the air now clear enough to see that a puddle of bubbling water, left over from Buizel's attack, was left in Coalossal's place. The crack that the Waterfall came from was gone too—everywhere around Jake, the ground was smooth and repaired from the repeated use of Water attacks, no longer scorched by the Coal Pokémon's fire.

It was over.

"All right!" Jake exclaimed, slapping hands with Buizel. "We did it!"

"Buizeeel!" Buizel cheered, leaping up in celebration.

As Jake and everyone else was handed a number of rewards from the Gym Leader, Jake smiled. Buizel had done well. Not bad, he thought to himself. Buizel's been gaining progress unusually quickly these days. We'll have to see what's to come...

(OOC: Claiming the above rewards, thank you very much!

Buizel grew to level 18!
Buizel learned Pursuit!
