Dynamax Boss Hydreigon ★★★★ Health Gauge: 58% Shields Up: 0 Status: [Confused, Misty Terrain 4 Turns Left, Harsh Sunlight 4 Turns Left] Trainers: [Reflect 2 Turns Left, Light Screen 2 Turns Left] Trainer Recovery Summary: Raves, Ralts: Draining Kiss Raves, Ralts: 155 HPRaid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Shockwave Attack 2: Snarl (55 BP) TKF, Greninja: 292 HPAttack 3: Max Flare (140 BP) Lil’Twick, Cutiefly: 229 HPRaid Challengers:
Hydreigon was not pleased in the slightest as the trainers and their Pokemon chipped away at the rest of its shields and peppered it with more attacks followed by a crushing blow from the gigantic Cutiefly. As the Misty Terrain flowed across the surface of the water, Hydreigon unleased a massive shockwave that cured it of its paralysis and reset all of the stat changes. It then followed up with another nasty snarl and then enacted its revenge on Cutiefly with a powerful Max Flare that caused the sun to poke harshly through the dark clouds. Dynamax Initiative: Lil’Twick, Cutiefly

Methinks we should also Life Dew (0 BP) rather than attack this turn as shields are almost certain to be up and we're taking quite the beating.

Another round, another inconceivable avoidance of damage. At this point Sweeney was starting to get a mite worried - if Dizzy was getting this lucky, it was a matter of time before something calamitous vested itself upon him. Looking around at his fellow raiders, the bartender pulls at his collar, his anxieties rising. The situation was only further exacerbated as an almighty cry echoed around the surroundings, a Cutiefly having abruptly grown in size to match the Hydreigon they were hunting. It took every fibre of Sweeney's being to not run right then and there. However, just as he was about to capitulate, Izzy tapped on the visor of his helmet, before pointing towards Dizzy.
The sight was pure spectacle. Dizzy hovered in mid air, her face contorted now into one of unfettered fury. The ladybug was hissing and spitting at Hydreigon, angrily spouting between "Ledy" and "Ba!" frantically, brandishing her fists at the beast. Confused, Sweeny turns to Sophie for an explanation. "She's got it into her head she's being ignored not because she's intimidated it, but because it considers her too insignificant to deal with." Amazing. Somehow this little Ledyba, a Bug type no less - widely considered one of the weakest among Pokemon - was becoming annoyed in the face of danger not because it was refusing to cause her harm but precisely because it wouldn't. The absurdity staggered him, but in a twisted way it chased away his doubts. If Dizzy was this confident, he'd be a damn awful trainer to not have faith in her. Gritting his teeth, Sweeney relays a call to calm through Sophie, before giving Dizzy his full backing. The Ledyba gives a simple cry. She already knew that. Venting her frustrations productively, Dizzy channels a roiling orange aura around her fist, before charging into the fray. OoC: Dizzy used Drain Punch (75 BP).

It had been tempting to Dynamax. Ho, boy, had it ever been tempting. But Eddie had to remember, these raids were a group effort. If only one among them could Dynamax, they had to use that power wisely, and save it for whoever could make the most use of it. And sure enough, the very next person to receive the Dynamax Energy was the owner of the Cutiefly. Eddie gave a grin- Gigawatt wouldn't have been able to use Max Starfall, and sure enough, the colossal Cutiefly's Max Move caused a strange, mystical mist to swirl around the battlefield. Status conditions weren't a danger now, and Hydreigon's Dragon moves would be far less of a threat.
Of course, Hydreigon wasn't just giving up, either. It let loose that odd shockwave Eddie had come to expect in these raids- if Gigawatt had gotten a Special Attack boost from Charge Beam, it hadn't lasted long enough to make a difference. However, the following Snarl attack once again washed over the Soundproof Gigawatt with no ill effects to it. Eddie's grin was made to fade somewhat, however, as the final move of the round ended up a brutal Max Flare at the Dynamaxed Cutiefly, but the Bee Fly Pokémon was holding on strong. Eddie liked to think it was his Light Screen contributing to that, but he didn't know what the base move for that was- it could just as easily have been that Ledyba's Reflect weakening that move. But either way, Eddie knew, their time to strike was now. "Good work, Gigawatt, now let's keep it going!" Eddie declared. "Use Signal Beam!" "ELECTRODE," responded Gigawatt, preparing a multicolored light attack. OOC: Gigawatt used Signal Beam (75 BP). |

Dynamax Boss Hydreigon ★★★★ Health Gauge: 49% Shields Up: 3 Status: [Confused, Misty Terrain 3 Turns Left, Harsh Sunlight 3 Turns Left] Trainers: [Reflect 1 Turn Left, Light Screen 1 Turn Left] Trainer Recovery Summary: TKF, Greninja: Drain Punch TKF, Greninja: 394 HPRaves, Ralts: Life Dew Raves, Ralts: 164 HPRaid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Fire Spin (35 BP) Connor, Ledyba: 237 HPAttack 2: Fire Blast (110 BP) myahoo, Chinchou: 159 HPAttack 3: Max Flare (140 BP) Raves, Ralts: 0 HPRaid Challengers:
The three heads of Hydreigon looked at each other while the heat from the intense sunlight beamed down across the battlefield. They shared an unspoken, almost telepathic bond with each other, and they knew right away what they needed to do next; turn up the heat. One head unleashed a Fire Spin around Ledyba while another hit Chinchou with a Blast of Fire. The third head reared back and toasted poor Ralts with the power of another Max Flare, rendering the small empath unconscious. Dynamax Initiative: Lil’Twick, Cutiefly

Hydreigon were brutal and vicious, or at least that's what their reputation painted them as. One might think that would mean mindless, indiscriminate attacks launched without regard for what would actually work best in a given situation. And indeed, Eddie's Electrode being targeted twice by the sound-based Snarl would seem to support that theory. But with the harsh sunlight, Hydreigon had started doing what made total sense; namely, letting loose some potent Fire attacks. That wasn't mindless, that was shrewd. Calculated. By all rights, that should have freaked Eddie out to no end- the one thing scarier than a gigantic vicious beast was a gigantic vicious beast that knew exactly what it was doing. But instead, he found himself with an excited grin, adjusting his glasses, eager to continue the fight. Was Gigawatt's enthusiasm for this battle rubbing off on him? Then again, Eddie himself had never exactly been one to shy away from a good Pokémon fight. And with a family history full of renowned cryptopokologists and accomplished Pokémon Trainers alike, was it really that surprising? Hell, Bartholomew Starmie, Eddie's great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather, the man renowned as the father of cryptopokology, had been one of Cinnabar Island's first Gym Leaders. Eddie liked to think the man was smiling proudly upon him from up in Glitch City, or at least he hoped this to be the case. And if indeed it was, he wasn't about to let down his ancestors!
"Let's keep it going, Gigawatt!" Eddie declared. "Let's help break down that barrier! Charge Beam, let's go!" "ELECTROOOOODE," droned Gigawatt, preparing a bundled blast of electricity. Not the most effective choice on a Dragon-type, but as long as it wasn't outright ineffective, the shield cared not for type matchups. Moreover, this was a chance to boost Gigawatt's power for when it really mattered. OOC: Gigawatt used Charge Beam (50 BP). |

As Icarus before them, they had flew too close to the sun. Just as Sweeney was beginning to put some weight behind the idea of Dizzy being untouchable, the Ledyba had been stricken by flame, the very air around her igniting with a swirling tornado. The heat was too much for Sweeney to approach, but through the dancing embers the bartender saw that Dizzy was far from cowed. A menacing grin was plastered on her face, an expression he had never seen her make before. The fury was still there, for sure, but it was tempered with a conviction to fight far beyond what Sweeney expected the normally flighty Ledyba capable of.
What's more, they were hardly the worst off of the raiding group. After having dealt with Dizzy, Hydreigon had turned his sights on others among their party, managing to fell one in particular. As Sweeney watched the trainer hurriedly recall their Ralts for recuperation, he mused that things could always be worse. Things could always be far, far worse. As if to punctuate these thoughts, Izzy finally broke his silence, deciding to cheer on his counterpart vigorously, his buzzing wings emphasising each cheerful cry. Her resolve fortified, Dizzy issues a rallying war cry, a wide grin on her face despite the whirling flames drowning her out. Forcing the tingling pain to one side, Dizzy takes quick stock of her available options, and is as swift in her decision as she is certain. Once again a flickering aura of orange burns to life around her fist, and with a resolute buzz she hurtles through the storm. OoC: Dizzy used Drain Punch (75 BP).

Dynamax Boss Hydreigon ★★★★ Health Gauge: 31% Shields Up: 0 Status: [Def -1, Sp.Def -1, Misty Terrain 2 Turns Left, Harsh Sunlight 2 Turns Left] Trainer Recovery Summary: Connor, Ledyba: Drain Punch Connor, Ledyba: 261 HPRaid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Earthquake (100 BP) Lil’Twick, Cutiefly: 169 HPAttack 2: Snarl (55 BP) myahoo, Chinchou: 69 HPAttack 3: Max Flare (140 BP) Lil’Twick, Cutiefly: 0 HPRaid Challengers:
With the second set of shields eradicated and the Hydreigon’s defenses exposed, the trainers and their Pokemon wail on the gigantic beast. Hydreigon recoils in anguish, taking the full brunt of some serious damage and the three heads work themselves into a frenzied rage. Determined to make sure all of their opponents felt their fury, they targeted as many as they possibly could, first with an Earthquake and then followed by a soul-crushing Snarl. Feeling good about its successes with fire attacks, it unleashed another Max Flare which incinerated the Dynamaxed Cutiefly, reverting it back down to normal size and unconscious. On the plus side, Ralts was back on its feet and ready to go. Dynamax Initiative: Lil’Twick, Cutiefly

The battle had been going their way more or less thus far, but Hydreigon wasn't in the mood to take any of that lying down. The Dynamaxed dark dragon lashed out, first with an Earthquake that cost Gigawatt some hit points for the first time in this fight, followed by a Snarl that it actually had the good sense to not target the Electrode with, and then, perhaps most devastating of all, a Max Flare that incinerated the Dynamaxed Cutiefly. Granted, Eddie realized, it had been about to return to normal anyway, so nothing it would've been able to do in that state was cut short. But even so, Hydreigon was displaying immense power right now, and so many of their allies found themselves in weakened states due to the Snarl.
Eddie and Gigawatt, on the other hand, weren't in bad shape, all things considered. Yes, the Earthquake was super effective, and yes, they no longer had the protection of Reflect and Light Screen, but thanks to Gigawatt's Soundproof blocking all those previous Snarls, its Special Attack was unscathed. In fact, it was boosted from that previous Charge Beam! All of a sudden, it seemed as though Gigawatt was one of their strongest attackers. And with no more shields for Hydreigon to hide behind, the time to act had come. Eddie adjusted his glasses as he glared up at the Hydreigon. His nervousness had all but melted away- he couldn't afford to be nervous or indecisive, not at such a crucial point in the battle. "Hit it hard, Gigawatt!" he called to his faithful starter. "Now's our chance! Signal Beam, let's go!" "ELECTROOOOODE," responded Gigawatt, preparing another beam attack, this one decidedly more super effective in nature. OOC: Gigawatt used Signal Beam (75 BP). |
