Athena entered the hatchery for the second time, a new friend at her heels. Palmier, a Litwick, was the recent addition to her team, and his trainer had brought him out for an important exercise in socialization. Athena carried a Pokemon egg in her arms. It was still hot out, so she worried that wrapping it up in anything would only bring harm to the baby.
"Hi, Miss Lulu?" Athena called as she approached the desk of the shop. It seemed rather busy, various trainers were on their way in and out carrying eggs, potential parents, and new babies. Once she got the attention of the colorfully dressed caretaker, she handed her egg over. Palmier stared blankly at the stranger before the flame on his head began to grow larger. "Palmier. No." Athena scolded. "She has an important job to do, you can't steal her life force! Say thank you to the nice lady and let's get going." Palmier huffed, but obediently put on a smile and waved to Miss Lulu. The two exited the shop, Athena wondering aloud what kind of Pokemon might hatch. Dropping off Enigma Egg #2, thanks! |

Kai became especially demanding while she had their eggs inside her and couldn't move very well and even after the eggs left her body and she was busy looking after them. No matter what, however, Happy did everything she asked of him: fetching the food, carrying her swollen body wherever she wanted to go, keeping the eggs warm whenever she needed to take a break, splitting up the egg-sitting responsibilities at times with Happy on one egg and Kai on the other, or just sitting together with the eggs. It was all hard work, but he found he loved doing every little bit of it (especially the parts that involved him being near her). Now, as he watched both eggs hatch, he was witnessing the fruits of his labors: a son and a daughter. His eyes welled up with tears, his smile betraying the realization of this bittersweet moment, as he knew his intimate time with Kai was drawing to a close, and he wasn't going to have much time with his children before he and his family would be going their separate ways. Sure, he could visit his family as often as he would like (and he would make that abundantly clear to Hyrem), but these first few moments with the children would be the most precious, so he had to make the most of his time. He padded over to the first hatchling, the daughter, who was about as energetic as he was, bounding all around her mother, before crouching down in excitement and wagging his tail, saying, "Hey, look what Daddy can do!" He then shakes his body so his fur coat would rid itself of all moisture, revealing the fluffy tufts of hair on his head, collar, and tail. "I'm Super Fluff, and I'll take down any evildoer who stands in the way of truth, justice, and big fur coats! I'm looking for a sidekick, if you want to join me!" Happy then bounded over to the second hatchling, a son, who was still curled up within the eggshell. He leaned in and licked the back of his son's head a few times before barking, "Come on, sleepyhead! Those bad guys aren't gonna get themselves!" ********** Hyrem figured it was okay to be a bit late, knowing Happy would want to spend some time with his kids before being picked up, and as he walked inside he noticed Happy and Kahakai, as well as the Vaporeon's trainer Tate, together with a pair of healthy Eevee, one being energetic, the other being more reserved. He would give the new family as much time as they needed while discussing with Tate arrangements for Happy, Kai, and the kids to visit each other. As for Happy, whenever it would be time for them to part ways, he would have nuzzles and forehead kisses ready for his kids as well as a big kiss for Kai on her cheek. "Thanks for letting me into your life, Kai," he would say. "I'll see you again some time~" {Picking up my Flareon, have fun with the babies, Tate!} |

The very atmosphere at the Hatchery seemed to change, almost as though excitement and eager anticipation in its purest form had just appeared out of nowhere. And indeed, someone did just appear out of nowhere- or rather, some Trainer with a few of his Pokémon. The human, Keith Masters. And as for the Pokémon, there were but two. One of which being the Meowth on his shoulder, as usual, but the other one, the one who had Teleported them there in the first place, was not a Pokémon most people expected to be able to use Teleport. Well, unless one knew Keith Masters that well, anyway- while Qwilfish as a species were not known for Teleport usage, Hebenon was quite different.
And today, the Qwilfish was happy, very happy indeed. After having known and loved his beloved Delilah for so long, the time had finally come for them to have a kid. They were both in agreement on this point, and their respective Trainers were all for it as well, up to and including Keith's willingness to welcome the baby onto his team. Keith took a seat in the nearest seat, feeling his Qwilfish fidget with impatience as they waited- it surely wouldn't be much longer before Hyrem arrived along with a certain Lanturn. OOC: Dropping off Hebenon the male level 100 Qwilfish to breed with GS's female Lanturn. GS and I are in agreement that I will keep the offspring. Hebenon's stats are as follows: Quote:

Arriving to pick up your new hatchling, Doctor Grossman greets you at his desk before happily showing you into the incubation room. A small team of assistants stands inside, watching an energetic newly hatched lizard run about the room, spreading fragments of the shell it had just broken free from around the area. The doctor snaps a few quick pictures as the lizard accidentally sets a chair ablaze, though an assistant is quick to douse it. Athena entered the hatchery once more, surprised that a week had come and gone so quickly. The weather had already started to change, and today she opted for a sweater over her usual short-sleeved hoodie. She had just finished a seasonal-flavored coffee and felt rather refreshed. Not totally sure what the procedure was, she made her way into the nursery that she had found Miss Lulu and her hatchling in before. She approached quietly, not wanting to scare another possibly shy newborn. Hatching my 2nd enigma egg, thanks! |

Athena pads into the nursery, taking extra care to not startle any babies that might be awaiting her arrival. In this case though, the new hatchling is slightly too large to be hiding under any furniture, and it stands on wobbly legs as Miss Lulu supports it as best she can. The nursemaid's face is glowing with pride - at least, it seems that way, but it could also be the reflection of the flames flickering before her. She beckons Athena over to the Pokémon's side, placing the trainer's hands on the newborn's pale body to help keep it steady.
Nodding encouragingly, Miss Lulu steps back. The baby sways slightly and adjusts its stance. "That's it... You're doing great," she says, and the light in her eyes shows how genuinely she believes that. "Good morning, Athena," she adds airily, with all the familiarity in the world. "This young chap will be bolting along before you know it! Just remember, take it slowly at first. Hold your horses and all that." She giggles. The nursemaid turns away, opening a couple of drawers before she retrieves an item from a small rectangular package. Athena doesn't get the chance to peek at it before Miss Lulu shuts the drawer again. It must be something for the baby, perhaps something to help it grow? Gently, she dabs at Athena's sweater sleeve. The mysterious item she had to fetch is... a moist towelette. "You had a little spot of orange just there," explains the nursery attendant. Athena has hatched a lv. 1 male Ponyta! |

Athena rounded the corner into the nursery and smiled as her eyes fell on Miss Lulu and a Pokemon. At the young woman's insistence, she made her way over to the two and assisted the Fire-type as it learned to walk. She was amazed that a baby only a few hours old was able to try walking with such confidence. The trainer carefully kept her hands away from the flames dancing on the Ponyta's head and tail. After playing with the little one for a while, Athena stood and thanked Miss Lulu. Curiously, the woman went to retrieve something from a nearby draw, and suddenly she was dabbing something away at Athena's sleeve. She looked down at the splash of orange on her white sweater. Athena had stumbled on the walk over and the coffee in her hand landed mostly on the ground, but on her clothes as well. She appreciated Miss Lulu's help, but felt rather embarrassed as the Ponyta let out an amused snort. As the trainer and her new hatch walked out together, Athena was reminded of her visit to the Springtide Isle. She had seen a trainer with a new Pokemon similar to this one, proudly galloping forward on wobbly legs. As cute as this new hatchling was, she knew she could probably find an even better home for him elsewhere. Picking up the male lv.1 Ponyta, thanks! |

Clearly, some sort of madness must have overwhelmed him for a fraction of a second, when he volunteered for this job the day before. His own foolishness was to blame, of course, the briefest sense of competence he'd nurtured excessively as a result of his team's recent successes at Cloud Garden and Incognito Isle. Yes, for a short period of time, Rorik Pine believed himself to be a capable Trainer... and now he was in this mess. "A newborn Pokémon fled from the nearby Hatchery after setting fire to a part of the facility, injuring several employees. We need someone to go after that rogue hatchling and bring it back to town so the authorities can decide what to do with it!" That was what Rorik had volunteered for, stupidly elated over his minor victories elsewhere. The locals said the infant Pokémon was diseased, which would explain its erratic and overly aggressive behaviour, and creatures who posed a threat for humans were usually dealt with in manners Rorik really didn't care to think too much about... Come now, it's only a newborn. I shouldn't be this apprehensive! The Pokémon had fled South, the locals had told him; he'd asked Munchlax to follow the scent left behind by the hatchling, but the only thing Gottfried's former partner could pick up was the smell of burning... still, it was enough of a lead that they finally caught up with the creature Rorik was tasked with bringing back. A cave... The outskirts of Luce Town were arid and virtually separated from the rest of the region by the mountain ridge to the South. Munchlax had found an opening on the rocky wall, however, and the heat emanating from within was unnatural at best. Clearly, the one they sought had taken shelter in the cavern ahead. "This is it," he whispered to Munchlax. The pair walked inside, cautiously. What should be a dark, empty hole on the mountain surface was actually a fairly well-lit cave, thanks to the orange glow that permeated the area, flickering and fluctuating in intensity. There was a distinct heat coming from deeper within, perceptible to Rorik but not quite to Munchlax, due to the latter’s Thick Fat. The further in they went, the brighter the cave became, and the hotter the air turned. And after following the straightforward path for no more than five minutes, they finally found the one they’d been looking for. At the end of the tunnel, in a small clearing, was a remarkably rare Pokémon, the fire lizard Charmander. But this one looked different than most – not in its coloration, but its tail. The flame at the tip was the regular flickering ember – it was a full-blown inferno, a blaze so massive it was no wonder the light and heat reached all the way to the cavern’s entrance! The Charmander was breathing heavily, visibly injured, but the defiance on its face was more than evident. And to make matters even more confusing, the lizard was the only one inside the cave besides Rorik and Munchlax… “H-hello,” stammered Rorik, still confused by the turn of events. “May we… help you?” Up ahead, facing Charmander and with his back turned to the Professor, was a massive, cloaked figure. Upon hearing Rorik, the giant of a man turned slowly, then pulled back the hood of his tattered, dark robes. “Y-you?!” almost yelled Rorik in shock and disbelief. “What are you doing here?!” “Hmph. I should ask the same…” “Ulrik,” spattered Rorik with disdain dripping from his voice. The man scoffed at the mention of the name, and the distraction almost cost him – Charmander spewed a stream of embers, which Ulrik just narrowly dodged. “Alright, enough of this,” he declared in a low-pitched, raspy voice. “You’ve caused enough trouble already… To me, Ur!” From the confines of Ulrik’s cloak, a PokéBall snapped open; from within, a large Salamence materialized, smoke escaping from its maw as it roared. “Dragon Pulse”, the giant ordered with stoic finality. However, as blue stream of energy was about to be fired, a Flamethrower intercepted it, both attacks nullifying one another. But the attack didn’t come from Charmander… instead, it was Munchlax who’d interfered. “What are doing, you fool?” roared Ulrik. “You don’t have the guts to call me father, and yet you dare interfere with my business?!” Rorik wasn’t sure what had possessed him to do it, but something about the sight of a full-grown dragon mangling an already injured lizard forced his hand. But the man he so despised was right: he was still a coward, and way in over his head by defying Ulrik “Dragonheart” Holstadt. “Leave it be. It’s just a…” “It’s a feral, dangerous anomaly. Look closely, paper hero,” Ulrik retorted with his usual insult, “this Charmander has the Baimon.” The Baimon? But… it can’t be! I thought it was a sickness exclusive to some Chimchar and Tepig offsprings. Then again, that Charmander’s flame is clearly abnormal, and it would explain the havoc it wreaked back at Hatchery… “Ulrik… are you on the locals’ payroll? Did they ask you to retrieve this Pokémon?” “Idiot. I haven’t set foot in a village for over ten years now. But this anomaly needs to be dealt with; if you oppose my methods, by all means – you try pacifying it.” Rorik gulped. He’d studied the subject during his time at Heiml Academia; the Baimon was a trait that could not be overcome, only postponed, and when the afflicted entered its state of rage, only battle would soothe its soul. Reasoning with this Charmander would be futile in its current situation, much as Rorik preferred that option to the alternative. “Fine. But it will be a fair battle, not the massacre you intended to carry out,” he spat back, filled with bitterness over his father’s cruel methods. “To battle, Munchlax!” The bear had been waiting for this. If there was one thing he loved almost as much as eating, it was a hearty fight, a pleasure he’d learned under the tutelage of Champion Gottfried and which he was denied all too often while in Rorik’s care. “Alright, let’s prepare for the fight ahead: power up with Swords Dance and…” “Idiot,” Rorik heard Ulrik mutter next to him. And it was soon apparent why. A Pokemon possessed by the Baimon only grows more agitated and dangerous when the prospect of confrontation arises. The excitement and thirst for combat is so overwhelming, the afflicted loses all sense of reason and arches head-on into any fight – giving opponents no time to set up whatsoever. Case in point, as soon as Munchlax began loosening his muscles to boost his strength, Charmander responded with an onslaught of proportions not even Rorik could have anticipated… Arching its head back, the lizard unleashed a gigantic burst of flames that took the shape of Daimonki as it flew – the same shape Gottfried’s legendary white beard possessed, as every Heimlan knew. The newborn, somehow, could use Fire Blast, and this realization dawned on Rorik much too late; the move connected with Munchlax, and the ensuing explosion was so strong, the Professor thought ofr a moment that the entire cave would collapse! When the dust settled, Rorik’s partner still stood, protected by his heat-buffering Ability, but his charred fur and heavy breathing indicated Munchlax was already critically injured, and the battle had only just started! “H-hang in there Munchlax,” shouted Rorik, doing his best to sound encouraging and fialing spectacularly. “L-look, we… hm… we need to heal you up! S-so, go for a Drain P-“ This time around, he didn’t even get to finish the sentence. With a horrifying roar, that should be no means be emitted by such a small creature, Charmander resumed its reckless assault. Blue flames enveloped it, and the lizard charged forward with blistering speed – while the blazes took the shape of a giant dragon’s head, signifying that the hatchling could somehow also utilize the devastating Dragon Rush! All Munchlax could do was fruitlessly brace himself for impact… and when it inevitably came, the bear was propelled backwards with such force that he wound up stuck on the stone wall behind him… completely unconscious. It was only then that, as a result of exhaustion and accumulated injuries, the Charmander passed out and tumbled forward with a thud. “What… what just happened?...” Munchlax, the Pokemon raised by the Heimlan Champion, hadn’t even landed a single attack. And to make matters worse, Rorik had just made an utter fool of himself in front of the one man he hated the most… “Now what?” Ulrik asked, clearly unsurprised by the result, but contrary to what Rorik had expected, without a single hint of mockery in his tone. “I… I don’t know,” the youngest Holstadt admitted. “What will the locals do to it?” “You should have clarified that before accepting the job,” his father chastised. “This one is a danger to society… what do you think they’ll do?” Of course. I was stupid to even ask. “I can’t let them. It’s not right… this isn’t the Charmander’s fault!” “Then I suggest you keep it safe, because someone else will come and finish what you started soon enough,” retorted Ulrik as he recalled Ur the Salamence and prepared to leave the cave. “Ulrik, wait! F-father,” Rorik forced himself to say. “Where have you been? It’s been years…” The large man stopped in his tracks, then peered over his shoulder. “Telling you now won’t change how you feel about me, nor how I feel about you,” he said dryly. “But understand this: your brother Erik has made a name for himself as Electric Gym Leader of Ostengard City, even after I was gone – but you chose papers, research, a life locked up inside a Lab. That’s no way for a Heimlan to live! Our Champion even gifted you a Pokemon of his… and you can’t even think up a name for it, let alone put it to proper use. You are still a disappointment to the Holstadt name that you don’t even use, Professor Pine.” The words cut as deep as Rorik remembered. Ever since they were little, Ulrik insisted Rorik be more like “ a real Heimlan” – a battler, a glory-seeker like “Dragonheart” himself or the “Norse God” Gottfried Haraldson. When Ulrik realized his son had no such inclinations, and vastly preferred intellectual matters and scientific research, the utter disgust and disappointment he felt led the former Dragon Gym Leader to leave his children and homeland behind, in search of a new life for himself. Rorik, in turn, never forgave Ulrik for such a behaviour, resenting his father for abandoning his family for the simple fact that one of his sons had refused to live up to his absurd expectations. They’d endured under the care of their mother, and Erik wound up doing fine for himself as a prodigious Trainer, while he… I became a full-fledged Professor. Even if that’s not good enough for you, Ulrik… I made it. I am Heimlan’s current and only Pokémon Professor, and I got there without your help! But if that was the case, why did his words bother him so much? “Keep that lizard and raise it, if you can. An expert in bonds such as yourself should have no trouble overcoming the Baimon,” Ulrik remarked sarcastically. “I wonder if you’ll ever prove me wrong. If you’ll ever become a true Holstadt, rather than just a Pine like your mother.” With that, Ulrik began to walk down the tunnel and back out into the open. But before he vanished from sight, Rorik blurted out one final word, unable to contain himself. “… Volg.” At the mention of the name, Ulrik scoffed, stopping only briefly to contemplate its meaning. “The Heimlan hero of yore? Is that what you intend to call that anomaly? You never cease to make me laugh for all the wrong reasons, Rorik,” he concluded. “Still, I’m glad you finally understand the value of a given name. See you someday… son.” Rorik didn’t know what stung harder – Ulrik’s sarcasm, or the fact that he called him “son”. Either way, it didn’t matter. He’d found the troublemaker Charmander, and now it fell on him to shield the lizard from the wrath of everyone who’d put a number on his head. For that reason alone, he saw no alternative other than to capture it for its own protection… even if he was a dangerous, uncontrollable creature. I’ll figure it out as I go along, I guess. For now, Volg needs a home… and Munchlax needs healing. With that, he tapped Charmander on the head with an empty Ball and then recalled his original partner, all the while trying to focus on the tasks at hand and push back the thought that Ulrik Holstadt, his father, was here in Fizzytopia. --- Picking up Volg the Charmander and placing him in 1x Luxury Ball Thank you so much Patches! And thanks Sniz!

Happy to see you arrive, Doctor Grossman meets you at the door instead of his desk, walking you all the way through the Hatchery and into the incubation room where Boudicca awaits by a small brown egg with a cream white bottom half. The doctor stares at the egg, already all too aware as to what the hatchling will be before giving it a light tap, causing two small holes to form as ears poke through the top. A few more holes form in the bottom as four legs pop out and the egg takes off running... right into a wall, causing the rest of the shell to splinter and reveal the small vulpine creature within. The doctor takes a quick picture of the somewhat dazed hatchling before walking back to the back wall, shaking the polaroid and attaching it to a large, freshly installed corkboard labeled "The Wall of Eevee", already adorned with a fair number of pictures. Grabbing his clipboard he fills out some quick notes as he walks back to examine the newborn before handing over a paper for a signature.

Keith burst through the Hatchery doors- his day had been a busy one, but he had nevertheless managed to arrive, hopefully in time to witness the moment where one of his oldest and strongest Pokémon became a father. Meowth was clinging to his shoulder as he ran inside, and once inside, Keith sought out Dr. Grossman. For once, he had no nagging worries about the doctor's health, no fleeting moments of fearing for the man's life. Cyanide and Fatale needed little to no provocation to be vicious, but Hebenon was a whole other swarm of Yanma in that regard- Keith had no doubt that there was no trouble insofar as the Qwilfish's behavior. If anything, Hebenon would likely have been most helpful and cooperative. Fiercely protective of his loved ones he was, but Hebenon was no fool- if Keith trusted Dr. Grossman, so too did his Qwilfish. It was that simple.

Keith has hatched a lv.1 male Chinchou! He also knows the following Egg Moves: - Flail - Supersonic - Water Pulse - Whirlpool Doctor Grossman had barely finished up with another customer as you enter, a staff member guiding you into the incubation room to find the Doctor as well as an egg of blue and black awaiting you by the far wall. Doctor Grossman barely has time to examine the egg or greet you before it shakes about violently and a large crack splits the shell vertically. The small head of the dragon within pokes out, before eventually thrashing about again and causing the rest of the shell to fly off in shards before plopping onto the floor. Doctor Grossman pauses to wipe a shard off his face, but nearly misses as the shock on his face clearly betrays that something is unusual about this particular reptilian. The small blue shards of egg now littered around the room are no match for the color of the scales adorning the creature, instead a pale green color compliments the black fur of the beast, an oddity among its kind. Doctor Grossman shakes himself off for a moment before taking a few pictures and doing a quick writeup, handing you the form to sign. Maskerade has hatched a lv.1 shiny male Deino! He also knows the following Egg Move: - Screech |

The happy couple was there, of course- Hebenon would not have stood for either of them missing the birth of their child. Keith exchanged smiles with the Qwilfish, before they both turned their full and undivided attention to the Egg. Bright blue in coloration, with a pair of glowing somethings within. And soon, it started. The Egg cracked. And a little tapping could be heard from within- the occupant was striking the crack to widen it. And finally, with Dr. Grossman to help hold the Egg steady so that the violent wobbling didn't cause the Egg to fall right over, a fish was born. Keith smiled as the newborn blinked, adjusting to the bright lights, brighter even than his own lures, and took out his Pokédex. "Chinchou, the Angler Pokémon. A Water and Electric-type," droned the device. "Chinchou flashes its lights to communicate with its own kind on the dark ocean floor. It shoots positive and negative electricity between the tips of its two antennae and zaps its enemies." "Chou! Chou!" smiled the Chinchou, hopping over to his parents and greeting them happily. Hebenon smiled as only a proud father could as he said hello to his son for the very first time, while Keith signed all the necessary paperwork. Finally, Keith was able to crouch down and meet his new Chinchou for the first time. "Hey, there," he smiled. "I'm Keith-" he began, before he suddenly wound up with a Chinchou hugging his face. "Heh, friendly little guy, aren't you?" he smiled, feeling a mild electrical buzz as he spoke. Not painfully, but he felt it nonetheless. "Chou! Chinchou~" replied Chinchou happily. Now the Water/Electric-type was sitting on Keith's Mega Hat. Keith could only chuckle at this, before turning to Hebenon. "So, we got a name?" he asked, the Qwilfish smiling and nodding before speaking up in response. "Hebenon says dat deir son's name is ta be Brighton," Meowth translated. "Brighton, huh?" Keith smiled. "I like it. Welcome to the team, Brighton. Welcome to the family." Before he could do much else, though, an extraordinarily cute Ivysaur appeared, instantly cooing and smiling and fawning over the baby Chinchou. Keith chuckled at this- such a motherly response was quite appropriate, considering why he'd brought Pomona here in the first place. When finally the Ivysaur remembered that Keith was there, she turned to him. "I haven't forgotten, Pomona," he smiled. "When Hyrem comes to pick up Delilah, pretty sure he'll be dropping off Sarkhan as well. So yeah," he added to Dr. Grossman. "Like I said earlier- not just picking up today." OOC: Picking up my brand-new Chinchou, naming him Brighton, housing him in the first of these three Lure Balls, and declaring his Ability to be Volt Absorb. Also dropping off my female Ivysaur to breed with GS's male Druddigon (who should be packing an Old Spice Incense as well), offspring going to me as per our agreement.
