My first full English deck that I actually put some thought into was a Fire Princess burn deck which rocked people's pants off. I managed to keep that deck together for years, tweaking it when new cards were added (Injection Angel Lily and Level Limit Area B, y'all are my heroes) and that served me really well all the way up until Chaos Emperor Dragon came out- Love hate relationship with that card (I loved the design, hated him used against me) so I made an additional Chaos deck- which was the style at the time. Never used the "nuke a Sangan for Yata" combo though, would've felt all kinds of unclean. Then when Limiter removal was unlimited I made my Machine Deck, which was the most fun due to the ludicrous attack I was able to raise my dudes to.

Wow, this is turning into a tl;dr and I haven't even gotten to my best deck. Part 2 later!

I used to have Chaos Emperor, but I don't know what happened to it.

I always had BLSEotB and he was a staple in my deck, but again, wasn't in my binder. Not sure where he went

I didn't find myself playing traditional that often so it wasn't very important to me, but I loved my BLS. It was one of my favorite cards. Mighta traded it. Mighta sold it. Mighta been stolen (happened to me quite a bit). I'm not sure.

Phoopes and I just dueled. I was using a deck that was beating more experienced players than myself and Phoopes almost beat it.

I've tried playing World Championship edition 2011. For the most part, I'm having trouble being patient enough to wait through the first duel. I mean...amazingly enough, I still remember all of the rules and everything, but the COMPUTER TAKES SO GOD DAMN LONG TO MAKE A MOVE! Sometimes it's only a few seconds, but sometimes it's several minutes. It's especially irritating, since my turns take 30 seconds at the most.

I like the addition of customizing your own duelist. I know it's pretty standard to every game nowadays, but I still like it as opposed to the GBA Yu-Gi-Oh's making you faceless and bodyless. The fact that it lets you choose your own dialogue is nice too.

Oh, one more thing. They banned the fucking Magician of Faith! What the shit?! In the previous game, I used the fuck out of that card.

I'll see how this game plays out, and hopefully I'll pick up a new strategy along the way. I just remembered that in the previous game I played, I simply dumped almost everything of mine in the graveyard and played everything from there.

Run plants. Something with lonefire blossom, dandylion, spore, glow-up bulb, sangan, debris dragon, junk synchron, and the like. Run one for one, foolish burial, call of the haunted, and other stuff, and focus on synchro summoning out of your graveyard.

That deck was tier 1 in that format, and revolves completely around the graveyard

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy is so fucking OP. Especially in chaos and DD decks, which is why he has a perfect spot in mine. So I got some advice over on r/yugioh,tl;dr I was told I'm behind in the times and need to accept that I need new cards, even though a lot of my deck is still acceptable.

Meh.

Don't know if I want to bother with it. Getting the right cards you need is like an adventure, but time consuming and expensive. Maybe I'll just fuck around on dueling network.

^ Would not recommend getting back into the spending craze with this. Finding tons of people on UPN with whom to play digitally =/= finding tons of people with whom to play IRL in Kentucky. Not only that, but even if you do decide to go to a local comic book shop or gaming shop and participate in their YGO TCG events, you're going to have to put up with being "that guy," the man-child who still plays YGO at 20+ years of age. It's not as bad with MtG since pretty much children shy away from MtG and only play YGO and such whereas "real men" play Magic, meaning the youngest I've ever seen at an FNM event, besides the shop owner's sons, was probably around 18, 19 years of age. (College freshman.)

I mean, it's your call. If you don't mind being "that guy," and if it appeals to you that you might win good money like Tuner and others do, then go for it. But otherwise, I'd just say stick to playing the game recreationally online with friends. No need to spend any more money on it.

I get the feeling a lot of us are behind the times. The first couple duels I had on Dueling Network was just me using Nurse or other decks from back in the day that I was fond of and avoiding Synchro and Xyz altogether. I didn't win much. Then I buckled and actually tried to use newer cards and Xyz monsters. Still not comfortable with all the new stuff but it does have good results in certain situations.

Dueling Network is pretty fun for just fucking around. Just gotta make sure you're dueling a person that actually knows what they're doing.

Protip: Avoid taking challenges from people who have 100/0 by their name. They normally have to have the mechanics of the game explained to them.

EDIT: Yeah. Talon is pretty right. Playing online is all free and you get most of the cards you could ever want. Plus you can play in Traditional format and not worry about Banlists.

Ah, me and my friend were talking about it recently and how we missed the old days of YGO, so that combined with this has me on a nostalgic high, but you're right. It's a shame age is even a factor, even though I saw people from all age levels at different tournaments (even elderly folk, oddly, played and lost to one), a lot of people will look at it and go "wow leave the children's card game to children," even though I look like I'm 18. Meh. Not sure why I should care what other people think, but your point is truth. Then again, I have a feeling a lot of people from my generation still play today, too, but I'm sure about 85% stopped (there is an 80% chance those numbers are 100% false).

Like I said, tried getting into Magic, because what you said about it was basically what my friends who play it said about Yu-Gi-Oh compared to Magic, and that I should just play that instead. I mean, it's fun, but... it's not Yu-Gi-Oh fun. If that even makes any sense. shrug

Also downloaded GX Duel Academy to my phone for shits and giggles.
