Minecraft: Story of Mojang

BORKED
Youtube link

The documentary about Mojang and Minecraft is premiering on XBox Live for Gold Members tonight at 8PM, but they're also releasing it for free on the infamous site The Pirate Bay.

Read on Kotaku. Don't want to just C&P them.

I think this is pretty cool that they're doing this. The story of Minecraft itself is pretty neat, but the fact that they're willing to release their project for free is very nice.

Watching it now. Will post thoughts afterwards in this post. Have barely touched Minecraft in over a year and a half, booted up maybe 5 times since, so I've kind of fallen out of it all, but seeing this could be neat.

EDIT: "Where were you when you heard about Minecraft?" "What like where was I when I heard about JFK?" Uh, heh... really? ^_^; Although, I do remember, my first encounter with it was a VGCats comic.

EDIT 2: That was a nice doc. There's no question that Minecraft is a phenomenon that changed gaming and may very well be one of the most important games ever created, at least of this generation and decade. I personally have had my fun and fill with it as I got bored and moved on to other things, but the inspirations it carries and things it teaches kids are intriguing. Not to mention, someone said recently, I believe it was Adam Sessler, but he pointed out that the kids playing Minecraft now who will grow up and become game developers will be making very interesting games due to the freedom and variety of choice Minecraft has offered, citing that you are plopped into the middle of nowhere with no tutorial or rules, and you're left to figure out on your own how the game works.

Mojang is a pretty terrible company. I've heard numerous gripes about them, but the one that stands out the most to me is that they hire escort services to "seed" their parties with women so they seem less nerdy. :V

I've never played Minecraft.

But I have heard of it.

Woah totally gotta watch this. I've been playing minecraft for months now and I love it to death. First heard of it through youtube from a guy called TeamUDF. I found Minecraft because of Elder Scrolls because that's what I normally went to the guy's channel for. Finally picked up the game one day and I've been hooked on blocks ever since.
