I think we will wind up seeing Crash at least, and I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to sneak in Cloud and Spyro in there, although which design they would use would be interesting. I'd be willing to bet they'd throw in Snake, too, but at that point, it starts losing the "Sony" factor and just turns into "The Kind-of Playstation All-Stars plus Third Party Battle Royale". This is a problem Nintendo never had. SSB is their perfect IP because let's face it, most people buy a Nintendo system to play Nintendo games. Nintendo is not running short on a list of characters from all their IPs. Sony, on the other hand, only has awkward "realistic", and I use that word lightly, characters like Kratos and Drake and Helghast. It just doesn't work. |

Crash isn't exactly a Sony exclusive anymore though, as his last four games were multi-platform.

I honestly don't know so I'm going to have to ask this like a newb:
Does Sony actually own any characters? Any first-party characters at all? I'm pretty sure that they only Smash Bros. characters that Nintendo don't own are the obvious ones, Sonic and Snake, but I don't know about shit like Fire Emblem. There's no-one like Banjo and Kazooie (Rare) so I'm a little hazy on that, but if Sony doesn't actually own any characters then this all seems a bit pointless. |

Game Freak*
Hence all the licensing stuff in the SSB games, and failure to be represented in many other nintendo mediums such as the 3ds' puzzles |

Penny Arcade's being a bit liberal with the history. The guy wasn't fired, he was handed a fat wad of bills, with which he tried (and failed) to buy back his dignity.

Just noticed that comic from Penny Arcade... XD. That was really well done on their part. And yes FW, I do find that the advertisement makes it look worse than SSB. Mostly because of the blatant rip-offness of it.

Wow, totally blatant rip-off. That fat princess even moves EXACTLY like Peach. Really, Sony?

Considering Oddworld Inhabitants games for Xbox, I don't think that Sony has enough of a legal right to use Abe without dishing out some serious cash.

IIRC, Hideo Kojima went to Nintendo and asked for Snake to be put in the game. That was something I heard a while back, but I forget where though.

Like, everywhere. He asked after he had learned of Super Smash Brothers Melee, but the game was already in post-production so Nintendo promised him Snake would be in the next game (Brawl).
Kotaku has the interview with the producer who said this. |

I think this says it all, really.
Spoiler: show They've edited the tags now, so they're not there anymore. However, that is freakin' hilarious that they actually tagged their video with Smash Bros. stuff. Also, I think it's even funnier that Bioshock was originally a 360 exclusive, and now they have Big Daddy in their Playstation All-Stars game. They're trolling Nintendo and Microsoft at the same time!
