It had been a while since he last saw Emolga, it was impossible for him to tell whether or not he was still in the lead. He had to ignore that for now, he just needed to focus on getting to the end as quick as he could. That said, he'd struggle to make it there if the Fearow had any say in it. The pair of newly evolved birds were relentless, they were extremely territorial. Vine just had to keep them far enough away....

With the sun still shining brightly on him, Vine whips up a Leaf Tornado, that forces the Fearow back, but only for a moment. They whip their powerful wings together, creating a tremendous Whirlwind! The wind cuts through the Leaf Tornado with ease and drives Vine forward, propelling him towards the end of the leg!

Seeing Vine close in, Cirrus drifts down to his starting position, ready for the Grass types arrival. Pidgeot shoots the Swablu a look as it lands on a nearby branch before both crane their necks back, looking at the forest with anticipation.

Vine leaps from the trees, landing on the soft ground as he sprints towards the old tree by the mountainside. His legs ache, his chest heaves, but he knows he is almost there. There was no sign of Emolga, Pidgeot was still on the tree....... He was in the lead! He reaches out and touches the tree, letting out a triumphant cry as he does so. Taking that as his cue, Cirrus takes off with a burst of agility, wings beating as he quickly rises upwards. Emolga finally emerges from the forests, webs still streaming from him as he makes his way towards the finish. Cirrus had an early lead thanks to Vine, but Pidgeot would be hot on his tail soon. How would he proceed?

Vine gained 3 levels!
The end was in sight! Now all Vine had to do was reach it. With a pair of Fearow on his tail. Greaaat.

He glanced backwards to check how far the birds were and then turned around on his next leap, whipping his tail to kick up a Tornado of Leaves to try to force them back. And it worked, briefly, but only for a moment. The next, they beat their wings and kicked up a Whirlwind that tore straight through Vine's Leaf Tornado and then picked him up to push him further toward the end. Vine stumbled, losing his footing for a beat as he adjusted to the unintentional help, but recovered and raced towards the tree marking his end of the relay.

He spotted Cirrus coming in to land on the tree, exchanging looks with the Emolga's teammate and Cirrus nodding in acknowledgement, before the Swablu trilled encouragement at him. Vine rolled his eyes--and his head to emphasize the gesture--to imply "What does it look like I'm doing?" as he leaped from the trees to the ground separating the forest from the old tree.

Cirrus chirped an amused response as Vine approached at a dead sprint, clearly taking advantage of the fact that his leg of the relay was almost done and his opponent was nowhere in sight. The moment Vine slapped a hand against the tree, Cirrus beat his wings and took off, Agilely dodging past leafless branches as he turned for the peak. Another Agility probably wouldn't hurt and then he'd Fly for the peak, Cutting through the Air as best he could as he went.

Vine watched Cirrus take off, taking a moment to catch his breath, and glanced back as Jet's Emolga burst through the trees. Heh, looked like he didn't actually make a mistake, deciding to go over the top, even if it ended up with him getting chased by a pair of Fearow. Turning around until he spotted the hot air balloon, Vine waved up at his trainer to recall him, so he could watch from above.

---

Melissa watched Cirrus fly down to the old tree where Jet's Pidgeot awaited and turned her attention to where Vine was struggling against the Fearow.

"Huh." She blinked as Vine threw a Tornado at the Fearow only to get a Whirlwind back, which pushed him further ahead. "Well. That was...fortunate."

"Cyn da quil quil?" Wildfire wryly asked, watching Vine leap from the forest's edge for the ground.

"Not very high, but hey, good for us, right?"

Melissa grinned as Vine slapped the tree and Cirrus took off, glancing at Jet to check the Trial Captain's reaction, before turning back to look over the situation. Seeing Vine wave up at her, she called him back and then let him out again when it seemed like he wanted to spectate too.

"Very nice job," she told him and Vine preened, still just slightly out of breath.

Vine goes from Lv. 32 to 35.

Myahoo- The first leg of the trial was already complete and low and behold, you had the lead! How long you'd retain it was unsure, Pidgeot looked powerful, but Cirrus would do his best not to squander the lead that Vine had secured him. He'd already taken off, the Swablu was quickly gaining altitude, continuing to increase his speed with Agility. He's able to put a good bit of distance between himself and Pidgeot before Emolga reaches the tree, but Pidgeot is quick off the mark. The entire tree groans as the Kantonian native takes off with a powerful beat of its wings, quickly climbing upward. Cirrus focuses on maintaining his lead, but in his haste, he flies straight into a thermal!

A cold pocket of air has blown across from the snowy fields of Delibird Ridge, mixing with the hot air to create a brutal swirl of air currents. Cirrus struggles to keep steady doing his best to fly through the turbulence but his small stature leaves him at the mercy of the crazy current. His slowed advance is a boon for Pidgeot, who is quickly gaining ground, driven by a powerful Tailwind.

Drifblim rises up the mountainside, allowing you to keep track of the two rising birds. Vine seems a bit disgruntled as he watches Cirrus struggle against the thermals, the lead he'd gained was slowly slipping away. The Swablu needed to act quickly if it was going to get itself out of this one, it just needed a way to counter the mix of cold and hot air.

The Swablu needed to act quickly if it was going to get itself out of this one, it just needed a way to counter the mix of cold and hot air.
Cirrus climbed quickly, accelerating with Agility and opening up the distance between himself and Jet's Pidgeot. Behind him, he caught the sound of the Pidgeot's powerful wings taking off and Cirrus pushed himself a little more. Unfortunately, it meant he wasn't paying enough attention to the air current in front of him and he ran straight into turbulence.

He whistled in surprise when he abruptly dropped a few feet and then found himself buffeted left and right. He struggled to keep steady, but his unfortunately-small size and his lack of Hidden Ability meant he was fighting the air currents the whole way. He didn't dare glance back, worried that even turning his head would knock him off course, but Pideot's wingbeats were quickly approaching.

Cirrus took a deep breath. He hadn't wanted to try this--mostly because he wasn't entirely sure it would work and the middle of a competition didn't seem like the best place to test it--but he didn't want to let his team down, so he blew out a Wave of Heat to warm the air around him. Hopefully, that could help calm the air currents into something that would buoy him up instead of throw him around. If not, he'd Pursue his opponent and piggyback on their Tailwind until he spotted an opportunity to overtake them. Probably Mirror that Tailwind Move also, since he unfortunately didn't have it himself.

---

"Oof, he's really struggling, huh?" Melissa said, watching Cirrus fight the invisible air currents.

"Quil quil cyndaquil," Wildfire pointed out. "Cyndaquil cynda."

"Sni sni vy sni," Vine muttered, looking unhappy.

"Quil cynda cyndaquil quil." Wildfire turned to Vine, voice short.

"He does look like he has an idea." Melissa pointed out how Cirrus seemed to be bracing himself. "Just gotta see how it plays out."

Wildfire and Vine glanced at each other unhappily and turned back to watch their teammate over the edge of the basket.

Myahoo- Cirrus was struggling against the powerful and unpredictable air currents and Pidgeot was quickly reclaiming ground, or more accurately, sky. You watch from your position in Drifblim's basket, hoping that Cirrus will be able to find a work around.

You lose sight of Cirrus as he disappears into the clouds and Pidgeot soon after. Their vision would likely be impaired within the thick cloud as well. Drifblim picks up the pace, rising quickly through the clouds. Sweeping around the side of the mountain, a large ledge comes into view. "The final leg will start from that ledge over there. It's a straight drop down into the canyon below. As Swablu emerges through the clouds, your Fletchling can begin its descent." Jet explained before tossing out a Pokeball, releasing his Talonflame. The fire bird soars through the air, sweeping around to land on the ledge, ready for Pidgeot to emerge.

Jess needed to act quickly as the Shiinotic began to prepare its next move. She called out orders to Lance and Iris as they got a short moment to catch their breaths from the previous round. There was little time to waste however, and they quickly prepared themselves to attack. Iris jumped into the air and flipped her small larva body, creating a sharp gust of wind that sliced through the air. Lance chimed in, channeling some supernatural energy through his sapling body and unleashed it upon the Shiinotic. The pair of attacks collided, but not with their intended target as the bipedal mushroom finished constructing a Light Screen barrier to absorb the attacks.

Frustrated by the futility of their combined efforts, Iris adjusted her tactics to a more physical approach, charging in for a Bug Bite while Lance switched back to dousing the Shiinotic with a very potent Sludge Bomb, even if the Light Screen did take the brunt of the damage. Shiinotic hissed angrily and released a ball of light that hovered in the air. The Ray of Confusion shot forward, but did not hit either Iris nor Lance; instead the bright lights swirled around Comfey who was groggily roused by the bright lights.

As Comfey opened its eyes, it let out a sad wail. In Comfey’s eyes, standing before it was its friend the Flabébé, and while it appeared much taller than usual it looked badly injured. The flower wreath emitted a gentle breeze of flower petals that surrounded the Shiinotic, Comfey’s Floral Healing doing wonders for Jess’s opponent. All of the Morelull spectating the battle began to chuckle incessantly. This was not looking good; not only were its defenses already high and gradually absorbing nutrients from the earth, the odds were now stacked even higher against them as Comfey assisted it in its confused state. Continuing to fight this way would eventually just wear down Iris and Lance in vain. As Jess watched the turn of events unfold with the unconscious Flabébé in hand, maybe there was some other way that they could turn the tide of this struggle back in their favor.

mespiritchaser:
As Revel and Chachi looked to take cover and heal up while planning their next move, Applin Rolled Out after them in pursuit, striking Chachi in the back before they were able to conceal themselves behind the trees. With the battlefield unattended, Applin stopped its tantrum and went back to eating the Leppa Berries off the ground. They were almost all gone now, and Revel and Chachi wouldn’t have much left to show for all of their work from earlier.

Meanwhile, as Ringo pursued the Bounsweet and Cherubi thieves, she stopped and observed as they stood at the trunk of a large tree and skillfully hopped with their quarry into the air. As they did so a pair of hands reached down from the branches of the densely-leafed tree and pulled them in. “What the?” Ringo wondered in disbelief as she hurried up to the tree. “Who’s up there?” she called out as she began to climb up the tree trunk, no stranger to climbing trees.

Back at Revel and Chachi’s side of the orchard, the pair had enough of their efforts being squandered away by the insatiable Applin. Still wiping the dirt off his chest, Chachi charged back into battle as he knocked Applin over with a Surf and then froze the unsuspecting worm with an Icy Wind that was very effective. Applin didn’t even bother fighting back as there seemed to be a desperation in its eyes as it kept scarfing down Leppa Berries. It seemed to be frantically searching for something, and none of these Leppa seemed to be what it was looking for. As Chachi slammed into it with an Aerial Ace, Applin’s frustration boiled over and it began to cry. Surely there was a reason behind its actions, and it was determined to accomplish its task whether the trainer and Piplup were going to stand in its way or not. As Revel took in everything that was unfolding, her concentration was broken as the scream of a teenage girl echoed from the distance.

As Jess watched the turn of events unfold with the unconscious Flabébé in hand, maybe there was some other way that they could turn the tide of this struggle back in their favor.
As Iris somersaulted and sliced through the air, Lance simultaneously sent a sensory wave spiraling towards the opponent; storm and stress swirling together in combination, colliding. ...Not with flesh, but filtered glass. The Shiinotic smiled smugly as it sat snug behind its freshly erected screen, subverting Jess's expectations by sieving any special attacks rather than status.

Thus the Sewaddle switched to a more primitive ploy, hurtling headforth at her adversary and sinking her small but sharp teeth into the soft mushroom stalk. Lance followed suit by firing another sphere of sludge, dousing the cap again in venom (even if most of it was absorbed by the barricade). Shiinotic grimaced and responded by releasing its own orb of radiance, which spun forward like a Catherine Wheel - torturous not to body, but the mind.

However, like before, the projectile seemed to miss its intended targets - instead erupting over Comfey, who woke in a daze to see such dazzling fireworks. The lights rained down over Shiinotic's form, hiding it in haze as Comfey rubbed her eyes, blinking as she believed she recognized her friend (albeit grown significantly compared to norm) crying out in pain. Wafting her wreath, Comfey quickly blessed the false "Flabébé" with a soothing shower of medicinal petals. The surrounding Morelull spectators all snickered at the successful ruse leading to their boss's recovery, as Jess frowned and gripped onto the genuine unconscious flower in her arms, glaring at the gross rose that had stolen its name.

Turning her gaze to the confused conductor turned against them, the girl gulped as she racked her brains for a way out of this mess... When all of a sudden she remembered a certain item held in her possession - part of a penta-colored set she'd spent care and time towards collecting in full. Mentally running rapid over each section of the rainbow as she struggled to recall which shade did what, she reached into her bag until her fingers found the five flutes, selecting a sunny hue from among them. While it would hopefully solve one of her immediate problems, there was still the barrier to contend with... On the other hand, while it did shield their foe from direct damage, it also left wide open to other options she had previously considered foregone.

"Okay, guys, here's what we're gonna do: Iris, you use TOXIC on Shiinotic, and try again to CUT those roots. Lance, I want you to attempt another GROWTH in order to overcome that screen, then follow up with VENOSHOCK. Meanwhile, I'm gonna try to get Comfey to snap out of it with this."

With that, Jess raised the Yellow Flute to her lips (praying her past clarinet lessons as a kid would suffice to produce a somewhat decent sound), and began to play.

Sunflora Cloud Garden - 1o

Rose Garden

Slash: What better way to while away the afternoon than as the guests of honour at a teddy bear’s picnic? You elicit a squee as the wild bear cubs jump into the festivities one by one, each with an offering in paw. Teddiursa is first to plod forward, dropping a Jar of Honey – its paws were sticky and raw with fresh Beedrill stings, painting no doubt that the nectareous delight was fresh, organic and locally produced! Cubchoo was next off the bat, the sniffily polar bear sheepishly presenting a homemade delicacy, scoops of snow which looked just like the Cones you would find in Castelia, sans for the slimy yellow syrup topping… As for Pancham, it hadn’t prepared anything at all, although it did find a cool set of bamboo sticks which would be good for Beating someone Up with.

With an assortment of colourful sides it was up to you to handle the chef-d'oeuvre, a curry that would knock the bears’ socks off! You quickly set your team to work as you rummage for ingredients, opting to use a choicer assortment of berries in place of the ones Bewear had plucked. You place the cooking pot a wide berth from the tree stump so not to spread a bushfire, sending Lemon off to fetch firewood through help of his bucktooth. It’s not long until he returns with a handful of perfectly gnawed dry logs, helping you stack them in a pyramid beneath the pot – now you just needed a spark. Terri sends forth a Thunderbolt right on que, the strike enough to ignite the campfire.

You attempt to nurture the infant flame with more wood, giving it a prod with a stick for good measure - Pancham lends a heavy hand too, smacking the flame with a bamboo shoot. It seemed to die in response as if a little as if unsure of itself, unready to devour the new offerings. For a while it licked at the logs nervously and sent feeble sparks to peter away in the air - but before long it found its confidence, orange flames dancing until the heat warmed your hands and paws. Lemon helps you in stoking the flame and then some, Psysplitting to triple his tail-fanning efforts. The sudden multiplication of the Watchog is enough to startle Cubchoo, tail tucked between its legs as it cowers behind Bewear who can do all but chuckle in response.

With the campfire crackling it was time to make a start on the curry, sautéing the berries and pre-cooked burger until a sweet-savory aroma wafted through the camp, Teddiursa’s mouth watering as he homed in on the delicious scent – putting its paw up for the job of taste tester. With the base flavour at a satisfying sizzle you pry open the can of coconut milk and spill its contents out, transforming the dish into a thick sauce. You allow it to come to a boil before adding your special ingredient - a Golden Pokeblock - which dissolves into the mixture like a stock cube. You finally add the pack of instant noodles, setting the dish to a simmer while Cupid dutifully stirred, wings beating to produce a gentle Fairy Wind.

Sweet and Spicy Medley Curry
Feed this curry to three of your Pokemon to raise their bond by 3 points each.

You allow about twenty minutes for the ingredients to tenderise and infuse with flavour – Teddiursa sopping up some of the curry in his paw for the preliminary test, a wide-eyed thumbs up indicating its seal of approval. With that you haul the camp cookup to the top of the tree stump for serving, the little bears lining up patiently. For lack of plates and cutlery you serve the curry on banana leaves, adopting a hand-to-mouth eating approach the way many dishes in eastern cultures were enjoyed, offering a natural albeit messy tasting experience. The picnic goes off a hit for all parties involved – curry dripping down the bears’ faces as they went in for seconds, then thirds. You noticed Cubchoo would cool down each scoopful with its breath, while Pancham used the sauce as a dip for its bamboo shoots - Teddiursa would simply cram as much food into its mouth as possible, its pot belly swelling as tight as a drum yet still making room for another helping. Shuckle was on hand with refreshments, passing out more of its delicious Berry Juice which had spent the best part of the day fermenting. Taking a first sip of the fruit punch it became clear why it caused so much commotion in the rose garden.

With the camp fed and afternoon running away with itself, you decide it better to check in at a nearby trainer hostel sooner rather than later. The cool breeze was starting to nip at the back of your neck and it would be unwise to spend a night in the Cloud Garden without shelter and a warm bed. While the little bears piled on top of you in efforts to keep you from leaving – Bewear peels them off you in one arm and offers to escort you to the nearby mountain chalets where accommodation awaited. You’re quick to gather your belongings while your Pokemon finished their play, Bewear handing you a doggy bag of Leftovers and a mysterious flyer which must have been looted from one of the nearby villages, on closer inspection it was an invitation to a Bug-Catching Contest in a faraway city:

You’re about to make tracks before the one who had started this chain of events prods your leg once more, the lonely Shuckle’s eyes welling up with tears as his strange playdoh limbs elongate and wrap the entire camp in a warm hug. While not without its hiccups, the day had provided enough light action to sate your appetite for adventure, and more new friends than you could count on one hand. It was sad to say goodbye so soon but despite the immeasurable distance you would never be far apart, for friendship doesn’t count the miles, it’s measured by the heart.

You are awarded 1x Jar of Honey, 1x Castelia Cone, 1x TR Beat Up, 1x Berry Juice and 1x Leftovers. This marks the end of your Cloud Garden adventure, hope you enjoyed the low stakes antics – if you’re ever in the mood for something more longform then take the Bug-Catching Contest Invitation to Amity Gardens in New Fizz City. The invitation is valid for as long as the zone is open, so feel free to venture to another zone first if you prefer.

As the air around him warmed, the turbulence calmed and Cirrus managed to steady his flying, surging forward to try to regain his momentum. He knew his opponent was on his tail and frantically Mirrored the Tailwind Pidgeot had created, cheering when it drove him into the clouds before Pidgeot.

Unfortunately, he was now basically flying blind, since he was neither a bat nor did he have Defog. Which really seemed like an oversight on Melissa's part, now that he thought about it. Well, nothing he could do about it now, so he'd do his best to Fly as hard as he could. Maybe with another Heat Wave to buoy him up to the peak and a Pursuit in case his opponent overtook him.

Hopefully, Zephyr could make up the difference if he did lose the lead, since her leg would be all downhill. All she'd have to do is dive.

---

"You know, I'm realizing that maybe I should've swapped Cirrus' and Zephyr's parts in the relay," Melissa mused aloud, watching as Cirrus disappeared into the clouds.

"Quil quil cyndaquil?" Wildfire asked wryly.

"Pretty much. And Cirrus has Ice Beam, so he could've literally cooled the air around him to help him drop."

"Sni sni vy," Vine said practically, shifting his weight as the hot air balloon picked up speed. "Sni sni vy vy sni vy."

"True," Melissa sighed, gaze catching on the large ledge drifting into view.

"The final leg will start from that ledge over there," Jet said. "It's a straight drop down into the canyon below. As Swablu emerges from the clouds, your Fletchling can begin its descent." He then sent his Talonflame out, the large bird Pokémon soaring through the air to land on the ledge.

Melissa dutifully followed suit, her Fletchling materializing on the basket's wall. Vine immediately began relaying the situation to Zephyr--that he gained them a lead, that Cirrus was probably in the process of losing that lead, and that she'd have to pick up the slack--who mostly listened to him talk with amusement.

When Vine wound down, Melissa tapped Zephyr on the head and gave her a smile. "Just do your best. I'd recommend Tailwind, Agility, and then maybe Fly?" She shrugged. "Or just fold your wings and dive. Whatever works for you."

Zephyr chirped an acknowledgement and a "Wish me luck!" before she took off for the ledge where her evolution waited for their teammate. She settled next to them with a wish good luck for them too and then turned to scan the skies for Cirrus.

The teamwork was flawless, with some help from the assortment of Teddy bears, and it looked like there would be enough curry there for three Pokemon of his own to have some, even with how hungry the bears around him clearly were, stuffing themselves like they hadn't eaten in days.

Terri and Cupid would definitely like the curry, his PokeDex's info showed them to enjoy sweet foods and not mind spiciness, but Lemon, as his name would suggest, was more into sour food, and was not at all fond of spiciness. He'd eat the curry if told to, but PJ knew he wouldn't enjoy it much. PJ fished out an Iapapa Berry and tossed it to his Watchog to munch on so he wouldn't feel left out, and then pulled out another PokeBall. He had another friend on hand who loved spicy foods. He tossed out the ball, sending out Saizo, his Accelgor. He served up a leaf of curry for the Shell Out Pokemon and handed it over. The largely antisocial Accelgor kept his distance, but could not resist joining in on the revelry once he tried the delicious curry and got some Berry Juice into him. Terri and Cupid were clearly loving their shares of food and drink as well (Cupid the Cutiefly, Terri the Illumise, and Saizo the Accelgor each gain 3 Bond from the Sweet and Spicy Medley Curry).

Once the picnic was over, PJ packed up his stuff and waved his goodbyes to the sweet bears he'd been privileged to meet. He didn't walk away empty-handed, though. The Teddiursa had gathered some Honey for him, the Cubchoo had presented him with his own twist on a Castelia Cone, the Pancham had provided him with the ability to teach a Pokemon TR Beat Up, and the Bewear had packed some Leftovers for him. The kind Shuckle, now surrounded with new friends, had given him a serving of Berry Juice as well. He'd had some at the party, and it was soooo delicious. He was glad his Terri had been able to learn how to mimic the Sweet Scent of the delicious juice.

As he walked off, Terri, Cupid, and Saizo resting off their meals in their Balls, and Lemon in his usual place walking behind him, he was sad he had to leave his new friends. But he knew neither he nor them would ever forget the wonderful experience, and hopefully he'd meet them again some day. Approaching the hostel for some rest of his own, he looked over the flyer the Bewear had also slipped him. A Bug-Catching Contest sounded fun, even if he wasn't sure where this "New Fizz City" was. He always loved meeting new buggy friends, and it looked like there were prizes for the best Pokemon caught. He thought about his new teammate, Cupid, and back to the jolly little Shuckle and the pack of sweet bears he'd eaten with. He smiled wide. He'd have to win. When he made friends with Pokemon, they were always the best.

Leaving The Cloud Garden. Thanks for making this adventure so fun and special, Emp. The Curry part was especially cool. I enjoy the feature in the sames, so it was cool to be able to do it in Fizzby.

Jess and her Pokemon’s backs were against the wall as Shiinotic’s defenses were near impenetrable, Comfey began protecting it in its confused state, and the nefarious mushroom was sapping the life out of everything in the premises. Something drastic would have to happen soon, or else the situation would be too far out of hand for Jess and her Pokemon to overcome. She quickly came up with a plan for Iris and Lance who were beginning to breathe heavily as they stared down their opponent.

Iris started things off by spraying a toxic goop on the Shiinotic’s face, causing it to writhe in agony and unleash a bloodcurdling scream. The Sewaddle then used the distraction as an opportunity to Cut at the roots that allowed Shiinotic to absorb nutrients through its feet, causing it to stagger backward as its balance was disrupted. As Lance began to Grow once more to charge up for his next attack, the dazed Comfey had other plans as it came to its “friend’s” aid by curing the toxins with a soothing Aromatherapy. Lance’s combo attack was busted, but the charged Venoshock still hurt nonetheless. Completely incensed, the Shiinotic retaliated with a powerful Sludge Bomb on Iris and a Pollen Puff on Lance.

Jess could see that Comfey was looking to heal its supposed ally once again, so she had to act fast. Pulling a Yellow Flute out of her bad, she began to blow into it as she recalled clarinet lessons from her past. She wasn’t entirely sure what kind of melody she would play, so she began by practicing her music scales. ~Fa-So-La-Ti-Do~ she cycled a few times as she noticed Comfey starting to stir. Noticing the confusion spell begin to unravel, Shiinotic released another Confuse Ray in its direction to reinforce its control. Jess frantically played harder, ~Fa-So-La-Ti…~ “Do!!!!” A weak cry melodically chimed in as Jess turned her head to spot a frail Flabébé trying its best to sit up on her shoulder and chime in with its harmony.

Comfey blinked a few times and turned towards Jess. “Feeeeyyy!” it cried out as it spotted Flabébé and quickly hovered over to embrace its friend with a hug. “SHIIIIIII… NOTICCCCC!!!” The bipedal mushroom screamed out, its rage boiling over and reaching a whole new level. Jess couldn’t belive it could get any angrier, but the creature was visibly shaking at this point. The mushroom spores on its head began to pulse iridescent colors as it dug both of its feet as well as its long tentacle-like arms into the earth. All of the Morelull began to mindlessly chime in as well as Shiinotic not only unleashed its roots to Ingrain once again, but it began to Giga Drain energy from the very soil as well. It looked like it was ready to destroy the entire garden if it wasn’t going to be able to have its way. A wave of nausea swept over Jess and her Pokemon. Some of the Morelull passed out from exhaustion as some of the trees began to look sickly, the berries in their branches shriveling up and falling to the ground rotten.

Comfey and Flabébé gave each other a quick nod and turned to face Shiinotic. Comfey cried out and summoned a myriad of Grass Knots to pull at the Shiinotic and try to unearth it. Flabébé clutched onto one of Comfey’s yellow flowers to stabilize itself and began to Copycat its friend with more Grass Knots. The pair of them struggled tremendously, but Shiinotic refused to budge. A shadowy aura began to radiate from the Shiinotic’s body as its eyes glowed red. What will Jess do?

The Combee weren't budging on this, and the Vespiquen was starting to get annoyed. She started buzzing rapidly as she reached towards the red gem on her forehead. Channeling her power, she summons up red shards around her and sends them flying towards the Combee. They cry out in pain as the Power Gem barrels into them, with one of the Combee being knocked out by the attack.

With one of their own falling, the rest of the patrol let out a giant screech. All of the Combee in the meadow look towards the patrol group, and start swarming. Multitudes of Combee from all around head towards the group until they were a giant mass. Then they started to stack, and combine, and seemingly multiply as well. The entire hive was out here at this point, forming a barrier with their bodies to help protect their queen.

The rival Vespiquen was getting mad about this, and fired off multitudes of Power Gems at the wall. Every time she made a hole, the swarm refilled it. She wasn't breaking through, and she was getting mad. She then let out a screech of her own. Suddenly, a massive swarm of Combee descend onto the area. The Vespiquen laughs as her minions come to her, feeling confident her own hive could claim the one here.

"Uh- Well... I think that's yer answer..." Isaac muttered towards you before retreating towards a tree. You'll need to protect the hive if you want to get the honey, after all.

You then see a massive, shadowy figure appear before the Vespiquen. It was a black and yellow Pokemon whose body seemed to mostly be a stinger. From the looks of it, it was a Mega Beedrill, and it was ready to serve its queen. Seeing the four of your Pokemon with you, you knew you had enough with you to power through this onslaught!

What do you do?

Combee Wall Health: 95%
Well, this was all very Guardians of the Galaxy, Alice thought, watching the giant Vespiquen go off on the poor Combee. Isaac was right about her having her answer, too. She was going to have to help defend the hive, especially with the size of that thing and its minions. Nina was bristling up, frost drifting from her tail as the temperature in the air around her began to drop. She was ready, and so was the Machoke that made her approach to join in. Machi was a lot more reluctant about the whole thing – she was not an eager fighter in spite of her typing – but with Dutchess and Bentley lining up beside her, the Pokemon knew that they would be fine.

"A mega Beedrill? Out in the wild? That's not normal, is it? I swear that's not a normal thing." Alice was thinking out loud, flabbergasted by the new challenger that had appeared. She had always hated ordinary wasps and bees (kind of, they were cute but scary) in the world she remembered best, but that thing... Yuck, her skin was crawling. The only alternative to the Beedrill being wild was the idea that this was a coordinated, hostile human attack. However, there wasn't time to muller over it-- this invasion was actively happening, and everyone and everything was in danger the longer Alice hung about.

"Dutchess, I want you to start out by using Toxic on the Beedrill! Nina, use Frost Breath and Bentley, you Mimic it, both on the Beedrill! Machi, you target it as well, but use Ice Punch!" Maybe it was a mistake ignoring the others, but Alice felt it was the smartest starting move. The Combee would only refill their ranks and if they targeted the queens they'd all go off in a swarm. The Mega Beedrill? It was imposing and pressing, so that was where they'd start, at least until the other parties started really getting in their way. Nobody liked a Heal Order, after all.

With the orders made, it was time to make a start. Hopefully they could beat this clock...

After attacking the previously aggressive Applin, battling it as it seemed to have wanted, Chachi now watches in confusion as his opponent breaks down in tears. Revel runs out from behind the trees, looking at the crying Leppa, then face to face with her partner Pokemon, equally as puzzled. Applin had also been frantically eating the Leppa berries that scattered, which was the source of its frustrations as it didn't stop until it has eaten everything. Revel noticed its appetite seemed weirdly big for its small size.

"Plup?" Chachi muses, wondering if he had done something wrong or if the end of the battle was the other party crying, accepting its defeat. "Nah, you're good," Revel assures Chachi, patting his head. "It must be looking for something. I mean, it's eaten all your berries. Isn't it full yet?" Revel bends down to the crying Applin, determined to try diplomacy once again. Chachi's eyes widen, still in puzzlement, but backs away from the Pokemon and lets his trainer handle it. A battle is out of the question now.

"Hey, it's alright," Revel speaks as softly as she can. "You're looking for something." She hopes to get a positive response from the Applin, as she reaches out her arms. "We can help you find what you're--"

Her words are cut abruptly by the sound of a girl shrieking in the distance. The pair gasps in surprise, and Revel jerks her head to the direction of the sound. Her mind registers to their companion, whom she momentarily forgot was also in pursuit of the two other thieves.

"Ringo!" Revel gasps. "That must be her! We gotta go help!" Chachi abruptly nods, ready to take off. Revel gets up to head back as well, but is also determined to help the Applin out. "We can help you if you come with us!" She calls out before heading back to the orchard with her Piplup.

Myahoo- While Cirrus was concealed within the clouds, you took the opportunity to release Zephyr from her ball. The young Fletchling lands on the edge of the basket, absorbing your words of wisdown before gliding over land next to Talonflame. It looked up at the fully evolved Pokemon, its own final evolution. How was she meant to compete with that?!

Meanwhile, Cirrus is rising through the cloud, Flying higher and higher as he heats the air around him with a heat wave, riding the convection current upwards. He can't see Pidgeot within the thick cloud, he just has to concentrate on finishing the leg as quickly as he can. With one final push, he breaks free from the cloud, letting out a triumphant cry as he signals for Zephyr to go!

The Fletchling dives, flapping her wings to quickly spin the Tailwind back in the other direction. She has only dived a short distance before Pidgeot jets out of the clouds however, meaning Talonflame is quick on her tail. "Sky Drop!" Jet shouts and Talonflame tucks in its wings, dropping into a steep dive. The bird is moving at blistering speed, quickly closing in on Zephyr despite the birds best attempts to stay agile.

Drifblim quickly begins to drop as well, doing its best to keep up with the diving birds. Talonflame has quickly drawn level with Fletchling, the tiny bird is trying her heart out but the larger Talonflame was built for this descent! How could she possible win this?!

Cirrus was Flying blind, riding a Heat Wave of his own making and hoping that he was still ahead of his opponent. He didn't have any way to track the Pidgeot, though, and the clouds muffled sound, so he could really only Fly and hope for the best.

With one last push, he cleared the clouds, blinking rapidly at the sudden burst of sunlight and calling for Zephyr to go. The spots faded from his eyes as a smear of red zipped past him and Cirrus slowly circled up to where the balloon basket hovered above the track.

---

Zephyr waited as patiently as she could next to the final evolution of her line. She knew it was going to be a difficult race, but she'd do her best and see where that got her.

She perked up as the faint sounds of wingbeats reached her ears and scanned the clouds for the source of them, spreading her wings as she picked Cirrus out of the clouds. The moment he told her to go, she threw herself off the ledge and dived, spinning the Tailwind he brought with him down to hurry her to the bottom. Barely a moment later, she heard louder wingbeats and the faint call of the Trial Captain, the rushing sound of her opponent approaching much faster than she expected.

She glanced over as it drew level with her, briefly disheartened at how quickly it caught up. Was there that much of a difference between the stages that she couldn't even stay ahead of a Talonflame for more than a beat? In a fit of pique, she considered tossing a Heat Wave its way--let it deal with the same contrary winds that Cirrus fought his way up--but she let the urge pass. She knew she'd feel bad about it afterwards and, when she wasn't getting her ego tossed all over the sky, she didn't really want to win if she couldn't win fairly.

But that did leave her with the issue that her opponent was much, much faster than she was. She supposed she could try some Acrobatics, even if she wasn't entirely sure it'd help. More Agility probably wouldn't hurt, though it probably wouldn't be enough either. Hmm, wasn't there something Vine was complaining about during his leg of the race?

...it'd be reckless for sure, but she'd always been of the opinion that nothing ventured, nothing gained. If she only whipped up the first part of a Razor Wind, she could possibly use it to send her flying ahead. Theoretically. Since it was supposedly a whirlwind.

Not that she'd really know the difference between that and a Whirlwind, but she was hoping they weren't all that much different.

---

"Well. This is anxiety-inducing," Melissa commented as they waited for the two birds to emerge from the clouds.

"Quil quil cyndaquil," Wildfire said. "Cynda quil."

"Sni vy sni vy vy sni," Vine said idly, balancing on the rim of the basket as Wildfire rolled his eyes at him.

Melissa grimaced at the thought. "Thought you wanted Cirrus not to waste your lead."

Vine waved his tail thoughtfully. "Sni vy sni--sni vy!" He perked up and pointed as Cirrus burst through the cloud, Zephyr leaping from her perch shortly after.

"Oh, that's rough," Melissa said as Jet's Pidgeot showed up barely a moment later and his Talonflame took off.

"Sky Drop!" Jet called from the other side of the basket, prompting Vine to shoot him a glare.

Cirrus landed lightly on the basket rim next to Vine as the other three watched Talonflame quickly catch up to Zephyr.

"Cyn da quil cynda," Wildfire muttered, watching intently.

"Sni sni vy," Vine warned.

"Good job. That looked rough." Melissa chucked Cirrus under his' beak and then scratched his head when he offered it before turning back to watch the race. Cirrus chirped and twittered at her that it was hard, but he figured it out.

She smiled. "Yeah, you did. Let's hope Zephyr figures this out too or Vine might actually try to smack someone after this is all done."

Cirrus whistled his laughter and turned to watch.

The pair of them struggled tremendously, but Shiinotic refused to budge. A shadowy aura began to radiate from the Shiinotic’s body as its eyes glowed red. What will Jess do?
Time was of the essence as Iris and Lance sprang to action, the former spitting a glob of concentrated sludge straight at Shiinotic's face while the latter sprouted strong once again. Shiinotic shrieked as the toxin seeped into its skin, and Iris seized the opportunity to slash at the roots fastening its feasting feet to the earth, upsetting the target's balance as it stumbled backwards. Seeing its "friend" in further distress, Comfey once again came to its aid by breathing an aromatic ameliorant, purifying the poison from its body before Lance could complete the combo. (Meanwhile Jess was still struggling with figuring out which way she was even supposed to point the instrument to play.) Still, the Budew's boosted shock struck for significant damage, and the incensed mushroom retaliated by utilizing the other plant's own prior trick against his partner; followed by forming what could only be called an allergy death cloud to someone with seasonal sensitivity, which ruptured upon contact with its assailant, showering the poor bud in painful pollen spores.

Seeing her companions take such a severe beating, Jess decided "screw it" and picked an end to hastily blow into, pursing her lips as she practiced simple scales for lack of a better melody coming to mind. Still, the "song" seemed effective to stir Comfey from the spell placed on her. As Shiinotic attempted to wrest control back, it became a fierce battle of sound and light, with a disoriented Comfey caught in between. Notes tumbled furiously from the flute as they rose higher and higher in pitch and power - until a tiny voice chimed in at the crescendo, belonging to the awakened Flabébé as it strained to sit up and sing along.

Hearing a familiar tune, Comfey spun around and sped to embrace the small sprite, smiling and crying in relief as the two shared a heartfelt hug. Their reunion was quickly cut short however, by the abandoned mushroom's anger boiling over as it screamed in fury, cap shifting a myriad of shimmering colors (a sight Jess might've found beautiful if not for the dire circumstances) as it once again dug its filaments into the soil, draining energy from everyone and everything in the vicinity. Jess swayed on her feet as it felt like she was about to be sick, and even several of its own subjects withered along with the surrounding foliage, all simply sacrifices returning to the Root...

Realizing their very home was in danger, Comfey and Flabébé swiftly worked together to try and remove the parasite, but even their mutual might wasn't enough to dislodge it. Jess watched in horror as darkness slowly consumed its entire being like snakes slithering up its form, eyes flaring madder red as it eerily reminded of a hellish scene she knew all too well. (Too bad the flute in her hands wasn't one that could turn back time.) At this rate, they'd soon all be swallowed by a nightmare...

"Iri, lend them a hand with your own GRASS KNOT! You too, Lance... Lance?"

Jess blinked as she noticed the Budew glaring at the overgrown weed as his body began to glow and swell as well, but with a golden hue instead of gloom. From his crown burst forth two rich blooms, blossoming into elegant bouquets of blue and red - nurtured not by rage and malice, but the bond of affection between him and his trainer. As the brightness faded to reveal a fully refined Roselia, a soothing SWEET SCENT wafted from the flowers towards the foe, creating a calming atmosphere that would hopefully at least loosen its hold, if not hatred. Lance then joined in the tug-o-war before looking pointedly - but also pityingly - at the mob of Morelull, unable to forgive the mad monarch for attacking its own minions, treating them as nothing but pawns to provide sustenance. He simply wouldn't stand for such gracelessness anymore, and glanced determinedly back at Jess as the girl nodded in agreement.

"Listen up!" she shouted at any remaining sentient shrooms, "If this keeps up, then nothing in this garden is going to survive. If you care about your king or your lives at all, then snap him the hell out of it! Otherwise, help me subdue him or else get out of our way."

Myahoo- Zephyr was in trouble. She'd started with a slim lead, but Talonflame had ripped that away in an instant, dropping towards the ground at ridiculous speeds. With the large bird now level with her, this wasn't just a case of keeping ahead until the end, she'd likely be tailing her opponent in a matter of seconds if she couldn't turn things around. Acrobatics were of no use here, this was a straight drop and a manoeuvre like that would only cost her time. She continued to push herself with Agility, the technique was the only thing allowing her to even keep the tie from breaking at this point!

Suddenly Talonflame opens its wings. Energy streaks from its body as the Bird hastens its Brave charge towards the bottom of the ravine, accelerating even more as it edges ahead! Zephyr whips her wings, trying to power herself forward with the beginnings of a Razor Wind. The wind building up behind her in combination with the Tailwind gives her a bit of a surge, but it isn't enough to catch up with Talonflame. The ground was coming up quickly, which meant the finish likely was as well. Was there any hope of her winning this?!

"See that thing glowing down there?" Jet points down into the ravine. There is a small shrine, with a small metallic object glistening on top of it. "That's your badge, Fletchling needs to get it before Talonflame does. Speaking of Talonflame, it seems he's finally reclaimed the lead for me. Are you sure Fletchling can pull this off?"

With the situation at its most critical point, a surge of energy washed over Lance as he began to emit a golden glow. Growing taller, a pair of vibrant blue and red roses blossomed from the buds on his appendages. A crown of thorns pointed on top of his head, and as the glowing subsided, a Roselia remained in his place. Having shed his status as a baby Pokemon, Lance looked more determined than ever to assert himself by emitting a floral fragrance that wafted over the entire area. The Sweet Scent did wonders in offsetting some of the nausea induced by the very life force of the garden being drained by Shiinotic, though the lasting effects were still very apparent as more Morelull continued to pass out.

Seeing as Iris and Lance were now assisting in the struggle of trying to uproot the Shiinotic, Comfey shifted tactics and began to try and offset the mushroom’s drain by stealing some of that energy right back by alternating between Giga Drains and Draining Kisses. Shiinotic scowled and retaliated with its own variation of life-stealing attacks. Comfey seemed to be doing a good job at diverting the Shiinotic’s focus as the rest of the Pokemon started gaining the upper hand in their tug-of-war, but the full attention on Comfey quickly began to take a toll. It was not a matchup that Comfey could win one-on-one, and the fairy Pokemon quickly began to weaken as all of its strength left its body.

Flabébé cried out as it noticed its friend withering, eager to go to its aid, but as it did so, the hold on the Grass Knot began to loosen. It was quickly turning into a dilemma of whether they try to save Comfey or save the garden, and the time to make a decision was running out. However, a fruity aroma wafted over Jess and Pokemon as an angry voice cried out. “TSAAA… REENA!” In a lightning quick motion, a figure leapt out from the foliage and whirled through the air as she Trop Kicked Shiinotic square in the head, the force of the attack pulling it up out of the ground and sending it flying into a tree trunk with a loud thud.

Tsareena gracefully stuck the landing and with the poise of her queenly majesty, she stood over her fallen subject as she emitted an air of elegant regality on top of a vicious fury. Shiinotic had dared to destroy her garden, and she was royally pissed. Bringing up the rear, next to follow her out from the brush were the Steenee and Cherrim from before, the pair turning and giving Jess an apologetic look. Cherrim began to summon a Grassy Terrain in order to accelerate the regeneration of life in the environment and try to undo some of the damage Shiinotic had done. Shiinotic slowly got back to its feet, not ready to go down without a fight. With all of the grass and fairy Pokemon around, it was prepared to use every ounce of its remaining energy poisoning the entire garden with Sludge Bombs if it had to. As Flabébé helped prop Comfey up, Cherrim and Steenee turned toward Iris and Lance, ready to give each of them a Helping Hand. It was time to finish this Shiinotic off for good and let Tsareena reclaim her territory.

Revel’s confusion over Applin’s voracious appetite was put on hold as Ringo’s scream echoed across the orchard. Even the Applin looked up from its stack of scattered Leppa cores in the direction of the sound. Applin seemed to have a better idea what caused the sound, because it tensed up and began to shake nervously. When Revel asked it to join forces and investigate, the Applin didn’t even flinch to set aside differences and hopped up into Revel’s arms. With Chachi right by his partner’s side, the trio hurried back through the orchard and ran down the direction that Ringo had previously chased the other thieves.

As they rushed past the berry trees, it was gotten eerily quiet in the orchard. It would have been nearly impossible to find Ringo at this rate if it weren’t for the trio spotting a banged up Bounsweet lying at the base of a tree trunk. Applin spotted its friend and jumped down to check on it. Tears welled up in Applin’s eyes as Bounsweet was covered in buises, and it turned to Revel and Chachi for help. It had been frantically looking for something before, but maybe having a competent Pokemon trainer on its side could be a viable substitute. The leaves on the tree began to shake, as whatever was up there seemed aware of the newcomers’ presence. With no time to waste, Applin valiantly jumped up into the tree, and as Revel watched on, the action was followed by a screech and some muffled yelling.

There was no time to waste, and after stacking a couple of the discarded berry buckets up against the tree, Revel was able to poke her head into the branches for a better look. The canopy of this particular tree was full of life; battered Cherubi, Bounsweet, and other Applin shivered on the branches while the Applin Revel had tangled with squared off against a rather gluttonous looking Simisage that hung from the upper branches by its tail. It was constantly consuming all kinds of berries, likely that it had got the weaker Pokemon to do its bidding of gathering the meal for it. Up against the tree trunk was Ringo, tied up with vines and a Grassy Knot that held her in place, while a singular vine wrapped around her mouth to gag her. As she saw Revel’s head, she began incoherently calling out with a muffled voice. From the look of things, Applin had been frantically looking for a way to get stronger so that it could drive off this bully and save its friends.

Talonflame easily kept level with her, even when she added another Agility to her speed. And then it used Brave Bird, pulling ahead, despite her best efforts to use Razor Wind to catch up. Clearly, she hadn't been reckless enough.

Or maybe she'd been taking the wrong risks. She hadn't wanted to try any of her speedy attacks, figuring she might need to conserve energy for a final push, but the final push was now and she was behind. Which meant she had to go on the Attack--at least, as much as was allowed in this race--flying as Quickly as she could to chase after her opponent. Because Cirrus was good and more powerful than her, but she'd always been able to fly rings around him; Breeze was built to glide; Spirit could fly silently and shoot targets from the sky without Swift, but her only real competition on the team at the moment was Wildwing, who was young and new and didn't have quite as many options as Zephyr did. She was the Aerial Ace of the team and this was her chance to prove it. If she could Snatch victory from Talonflame's talons, that'd be a triumph to remember.

Grimly resolved, she bore down, gaze flicking between the prize at the bottom and her opponent. Here went nothing.

---

Vine and Wildfire groaned as Jet's Talonflame took the lead, Cirrus chirping sympathetically at the loss.

Jet took the moment to point out a shrine at the bottom of the ravine. "See that thing glowing down there?" All four of them peered down at the structure, nodding as each spotted something glistening on top of it. "That's your badge. Fletchling needs to get it before Talonflame does. Speaking of Talonflame, it seems he's finally reclaimed the lead for me. Are you sure Fletchling can pull this off?"

"Pretty sure I told you I wasn't sure how my team would hold up, but they've done pretty well so far," Melissa said, quirking a smile. "If she loses to the final evolution of her line, that's not a bad loss, I'd say." She glanced over the edge of the basket. "Though, Zephyr probably won't see it that way."

Vine snorted his agreement, while Wildfire and Cirrus nodded ruefully. If anything, the Fletchling would take that as permission to bug anyone and everyone to let her practice outracing attacks like Swift or Magical Leaf. And, as her best friend, Vine'd probably end up spending the most time helping her out.

Well, at least they'd have a better idea on how to handle this kind of situation in the future, regardless of how things played out.

Myahoo- Zephyr had lost the lead that Vine had gained and Cirrus had maintained. To make matters worse, it was at a crucial point in the race! Talonflame was streaking ahead, if Zephyr was going to recover the lead, she had to go on the attack. She burst forward with a Quick Attack, the sudden burst of speed allowing her to close the gap that Talonflame had put between them. Showing her real skills as an Aerial Ace, she then proceeds to draft behind Talonflame as they close in on the small temple and the glistening Gym Badge. With the reduced air resistance in her aerodynamic position behind the bigger bird, Zephyr is easily able to keep pace. She keeps her eyes on the prize, wait for her moment to Snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

The moment had arrived. Mere seconds separated them from the temple and Talonflame was preparing to make its grab. As it goes to prepare its talons with a Hone Claws, Zephyr makes the snatch. She dives under the bigger bird, slipping between its talons as she steals the boost, her own tiny talons stretching out towards the badge.

From your position in Drifblim's basket, you're unable to see the outcome immediately. Even Jet is unsure who has claimed victory. It isn't until Talonflame banks to the side that you can spot Zephyr, the Fletchling is flapping along happily, the badge gripped safely between her talons. "It seems congratulations are in order Melissa, you've successfully completed my trial and earned the Squall Badge. I'd also like to present you with this TM Sky Drop. That was a real gutsy effort, I'm sure you're incredibly proud of your Pokemon." Drifblim sets down at the base of the small temple, allowing you to disembark. "It was a pleasure to meet you Melissa, may the wind always be at your back." Talonflame swooped down to land on Drifblim's basket, the fire falcon didn't seem to disheartened by the loss.

Zephyr gained 2 levels!

Congratulations on winning the trial! With the Cloud Garden closing, this brings an end to your adventures in the CG, we hope you've enjoyed your stay.

From the look of things, Applin had been frantically looking for a way to get stronger so that it could drive off this bully and save its friends.
The dots connected in Revel’s head, and they were shaped like the Cherubi, Bounsweet, and Applin she’s looking at now.

Standing on stacked baskets, Revel can’t even begin to fathom the sight that greeted her. So many Pokemon, but they were all beaten up. She even spots Ringo, tied up in vines, and when their eyes meet, the younger girl makes muffled sounds, calling for help. Revel nods at her in understanding, and she eventually finds the earlier Applin face to face with a Simisage, who seemed to hoard all the berries in the tree.

The real berry thief, Revel thinks to herself. No wonder Applin kept eating all those berries, or didn't hesitate to tag along with her and Chachi. Maybe the Bounsweet and Cherubi that Ringo was running after felt similarly; they all wanted to find a way to stand up to this bully. The Simisage did look greedy, seemingly proud of all the berries it had, when they were supposed to be shared among the other Pokemon there.

Chachi climbs up on the baskets as well to join his Trainer and take a look, and Revel picks him up so he can stand on her shoulder. He gasps as he beholds the sight before him. “Now Applin needs our help,” Revel whispers to her Piplup. “Think you can handle it?” Chachi looks at his possible opponent, slightly nervous, but is more determined to help out these Pokemon. Especially little Applin, all by itself, an apple standing up to a monkey. Who used to be his opponent is now his unexpected ally. He nods, ready to bring down the bully.

The Simisage looks pretty tough, and would definitely be stronger than Chachi. Also, it would be tough battling this Pokemon in the trees, as the other dwellers and even Ringo might risk falling off, so they need to take the battle to the ground.

“Just like earlier, Icy Wind from afar, and Aerial Ace when you’re near. Use Aqua Ring if you’re in a bind. Ready?” Chachi nods in affirmation, and prepares as Revel calls out to the Simisage. “Hey!” she begins to shout. “Not cool, man! Get your own berries yourself!” The pair anticipates the Simisage’s next move, ready to climb down from the stacked baskets and face it off once it lands on the ground.

OoC - Teaching TM SUNNY DAY, FIRE PUNCH, & ICE PUNCH to Roselia with 36 Bond. (The latter bc I can/just in case =P)

While Lance's fragrance filled Jess with determination and quelled the queasiness in her stomach, as well as helped the weakened fungi recover some stamina, it seemed her appeal went unnoticed as the mushrooms struggled to merely stay awake. Thus as Lance took over towing for Comfey the lei-like sprite attempted to balance out the energy levels by draining Shiinotic's lifeforce in turn, serving as a sacrificial distraction to spare the surrounding vegetation. As Shiinotic centered all its concentration on a new singular target though, it became clear Comfey would not be able to withstand the burden of consumption for long. Seeing its friend's vitality nearly depleted as it strained to keep up with demand, Flabébé wavered whether to relinquish its hold in order to assist - risking the rest of the garden in the process...

Just then, a tropical aroma mixed with the already heavily scented atmosphere, creating a pleasant perfume of fresh fruits and produce - as the producer barreled out from the bushes and landed a devastating lower limb right on the shocked Shiinotic, successfully extricating the pest and sending it straight into a tree trunk with a satisfying sound. As the vicious whirlwind of wine and emerald whipped around and adjusted her crown, Jess recognized the creature's queenly figure from the festival flyer she had been handed earlier: Lady Tsareena, leader of the southeast domain and harbinger of harvest. Beside her were an apologetic Steenee and Cherrim from the orchard they had passed through earlier, the latter blessing life back to the ground in order to reverse at least some of the destruction wrought. The pair nodded to Iris and Lance, prepared to lend their all in aiding to defend their home against this false fungus, and return it to the rightful ruler of roses.

Freed from farming duty for the moment, Lance took the opportunity to pay proper respects by quickly bowing to her Majesty, marveling at such a beautiful and elegant entrance - before being interrupted by Shiinotic's ungodly screech as it appeared intent on exterminating everything within sight through further pollution. Glancing around at the renewed grass growing beneath her feet, Jess decided it was time to show this oversized shroom what the power of true love and teamwork could accomplish.

"All right, let's give this guy everything we've got! Lance, start off by using SUNNY DAY, and blast it with a LEAF STORM! Iris, use SOLAR BEAM when the sun is high, followed by FRENZY PLANT!"

Congratulations on winning the trial! With the Cloud Garden closing, this brings an end to your adventures in the CG, we hope you've enjoyed your stay.
Zephyr put on a burst of speed, Quickly closing the gap her opponent had put between them. She then slid sideways until she was behind Talonflame, taking advantage of its slipstream to more easily keep pace. She didn't think Talonflame had even noticed that she was basically perched on its tail, which was all the better for her.

They approached the shrine at speed, Talonflame seeming to be entirely focused on the prize. It started to prepare to Hone its Claws, only for Zephyr to make her move, diving between its claws, stealing the boost, and Snatching the badge mere moments before Talonflame could.

Zooming past the shrine and then out from under Talonflame as it peeled off, Zephyr crowed her victory, making sure to flash the badge at the watching spectators as she circled around the landing area.

---

Tension was high among the four of them as Talonflame and Zephyr approached the shrine, Zephyr zipping to close the distance and then ride Talonflame's slipstream. Vine was muttering encouragement under his breath, while Wildfire and Cirrus both ended up digging their claws into the basket rim. Melissa couldn't help clenching the basket too, watching anxiously as Talonflame reached the badge.

Something happened then and Melissa glanced over at Jet, who looked just as uncertain as she felt, before peering back down at the shrine. A moment later, Talonflame peeled off, revealing Zephyr triumphantly flashing the badge up at them and crowing her victory. Vine, Wildfire, and Cirrus erupted into cheers of their own, calling praise and congratulations down at her, Cirrus actually dropping off the edge of the basket to join Zephyr in her victory lap.

"It seems congratulations are in order, Melissa," Jet said. "You've successfully completed my trial and earned the Squall Badge. I'd also like to present you with this TM Sky Drop." Melissa took the TM, grinning widely, and pocketed it. Maybe Zephyr'd like to learn it. "That was a real gutsy effort; I'm sure you're incredibly proud of your Pokémon." Melissa nodded emphatically as the balloon set down at the base of the small temple, Wildfire and Vine leaping off to catch Zephyr and Cirrus as they landed. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Melissa. May the wind always be at your back." Jet's Talonflame landed in the Drifblim's basket, looking unfazed.

"Yeah, it was good to meet you too, Jet." Melissa turned to join her Pokémon and accepted the badge when Zephyr offered it to her. "You were amazing, Zephyr." She held out her arm and her two birds landed on it, Melissa scratching Zephyr's head as she turned to face the peak. "Alright, now let's--" She was cut off as her phone alerted her to a message.

Melissa frowned and pulled out her phone, reading the message and shooting the peak a wistful look.

"Cyndaquil?" Wildfire tilted his head to one side.

"Looks like access to the Cloud Garden's closing soon, so they want everyone off as soon as possible," Melissa said, gesturing for everyone to start heading down. Cirrus and Zephyr took off, leading the way with Vine following shortly after.

Wildfire clambered up to Melissa's shoulder. "Quil cynda."

"Yeah," Melissa agreed. "But we'll be back one day."

"Cyn da." Wildfire nodded firmly.

With your orders made, your Pokemon begin their assault on encroaching horde. Designating the Mega Beedrill as the most pressing issue, you order your team of four to attack it. With your plans in motion, your faithful squad begins to execute them.

Duchess begins by lobbing a giant, poisonous wad of toxic waste towards the Mega Beedrill. The poison tries to seep into the Pokemon, but the wasp shrugs it off like its nothing. Poison-types are immune to Toxic, after all. Not seeming to care about the dog, the supercharged Poison Bee pokemon focuses its attention onto the Combee wall. Charging up its spear-like stinger, the Mega Pokemon starts to spin like a drill. It then gets coated in this purple aura as poisonous ooze starts to splatter everywhere. The Poisonous body of the Pokemon rams into the Wall, jabbing away at the Combees. You can tell the attacks are a lot more effective due to its Adaptability ability.

The Vespiquen laughs, knowing that her plan was working. This, of course, was causing the wall to falter. The Mega Beedrill hasn't broken through just yet, but the hive would surely be destroyed if it did. If she couldn't have it, then she'd destroy it. She then snaps, and a large amount of small, bee-like creatures swarm out of her posterior. She sends the Attack Order, and they begin to swarm around Duchess. The Shiny Furfrou howls in pain as the creatures attack her.

Of course, the queen wasn't worth dealing with until her knight was. Nina and Bentley both agree on that ideal and begin to prepare their icy assault. Nina starts to create ice crystals within her maw, before spewing out her frosted breath. Bentley takes note of the technique and mimics it, adding it temporarily to his arsenal. He then follows Nina's lead, and breaths our his own Frost Breath. The two icy attacks wash over the Beedrill, the automatic critical hits doing a good amount of damage to it.

But, for some reason, the bee does not care. It continues mindlessly in its assault, charging up more poison within its stringer. But this time, it flies away from the wall. The poison starts to form into a ball at the tip of its stinger and turns into sludge. Firing off salvos of the Sludge Bomb, the volleys explode on contact with the wall. The Combees cry out as more of their numbers begin to fall. This wasn't looking good. Something had to be done, and fast.

Machi then leaps into the air, channeling icy fury into her fists. She contorts her body so she in prime position to hook the Mega Beedrill. The Machoke swings down, her Ice Punch landing a solid blow on the Pokemon. Due to Machi's momentum, the wasp is slammed into the ground. The Vespiquen immediately takes notice of this and sends out a powerful Air Slash at Machi. It catches her mid-air as she was finishing her jump. The force of the attack sends her flying into the wall before she too falls to the ground.

This was starting to look a little bad. The wall was badly damaged, and your assault proved to not be as strong. It was a damage race at this point, and the Vespiquen was more focused on attacking your group then piecing through the wall. With Beedrill currently grounded and dazed, this was the best opportunity to unleash a full-on offensive assault.

What do you do?

"Oh-- balls. For fuck's sake."

They were getting absolutely wrecked here and so were the Combee and it had started thanks to an absolutely atrocious mistake. Alice shouldn't have made that mistake and the amount of anger and self-loathing she felt bubbling up from her gut was unbelievable. The cries of Dutchess and the falling bug types only compounded that further. This was she and Dutchess' first time really fighting together and she'd be lucky if the poor thing ever trusted her again-- fuck--

It wasn't just panic and anxiety from the situation hitting her, though. Alice could feel something else as well. There was a heat coming from her body, an increase in sweat that caused her clothes to stick to her. Things didn't feel right, something didn't feel right. Alice could see everything happen and she knew what she had to do but it felt like she was watching through a veil of sorts, reality slowly separating...

Hypoglycemia.

If they didn't act quickly, her own body would be on the grass alongside the felled defenders and her own Pokemon most likely. She had treats in her bag, sure, but a hypo brain wasn't a brain that fully made sense. Alice was like a lot of diabetics in that regard. She'd rather finish an entire mountain of paperwork or finish a chore she didn't like than immediately give her body the snack it needed to literally survive. She could shove her hand into the bag and cram something sweet into her mouth, but this battle needed to be ended first. Blue eyes glanced down to an outstretched hand. It trembled like the leaves rocked by battle in the meadow. Fuckety do indeed.

"We have to get that Beedrill while it's down! Just hang in there Dutchess, okay?! We can do this, I promise!" Alice reassured the former stray, the dog shaking off its pain to try and focus on the battle. It had been a pooch previously owned as a trophy, Dutchess had never faced such stakes before. "You, too, Machi. We've got this, we have to! Nina, use your Frost Breath again, full force! Dutchess, you copy them-- both target the Beedrill! Bentley, focus your Weather Ball strikes the same way and Machi, go in with Ice Punches! If we ambush this thing while it's down, we might be able to finish it! Then turn all your attacks on the Vespiquen!"

The Pokemon listened to their trainer. They could all sense the urgency, but at the same time, they could tell that something was wrong with her, too. This was a time crunch for everyone but if they were to complete the mission, Alice would have to wait. Beedrill first, Vespiquen second, trainer last. This was critical and they couldn't afford anymore mistakes.
