Bulbasaur The Arboreal Cradle: The Eternal Forest Zone

The Arboreal Cradle
The Eternal Forest Zone

Closed to New Adventures

Before there was civilisation, there was nature. From the very void, Arceus was said to have created the world from a single seed and nurtured it with His thousand arms into the land we call home today. However, for all His power, it was not by His hand that life was created, and that nature flourished, for the world grown was barren and empty. Thus was it that Xerneas and Yveltal were created after Time, Space and Antimatter, to create the Cycle of Life and Death, and Zygarde to maintain the Order of the Cycle. With the Cycle started, the land slowly grew from nothing to something, rivers began to flow and the cracked sands toiled to dirt, which bore shoots of grass, then shrubbery. Within a few centuries, a vast forest grew forth, and expanded to cover much of the world's landmasses. Yet, all forests had to come from somewhere...that somewhere is a tract of land known as the Arboreal Cradle, the beginning of life on our world. From within, it is said that Creation continues and the Cycle remains constant, the literal beating heart and lungs of our world in action, and the Order of things maintained, so that when life can no longer remain, Death takes it with dignity to return it to the cycle.

For centuries, explorers and searched for this land, with no avail, and only at the advent of technology has Man at last discovered a world that They have not touched. Expeditions and exploration began with the intent of exploitation, yet the forces within have prevented such disaster from occurring and invaders have been repelled by the Guardians of the Arboreal Cradle, with the few who escaped alive relaying tales of incredible sights and riches, of civilisations who have lived and grown to become one with the Cradle. Following intense lobbying and debate among world leaders, it was agreed that the Cradle be classed as a Nature Preserve, one that no corporation or group shall attempt to exploit, and for only those with permits to travel to.

That was three hundred years ago, and today the status of the Cradle remains protected, though the laws pertaining to the land have been alleviated somewhat so as to allow anyone to travel there. With the doors effectively opened, trainers have flocked to the Cradle to discover a forest unlike any other they have ever encountered.

The Arboreal Cradle consists of five separate and distinct, yet closely intertwined and linked forest biomes, each connected to each other through a central border area, and the boundaries between each are so connected that one may pass into another biome without realising it.

Grandshroud Forest
The Temperate Forest

The largest of the wooded biomes of the Cradle, Grandshroud Forest encompasses much of the central forest belt and stretches to the far west, and comprises an area estimated by explorers to be at least the size of Sinnoh, if not larger. The forest itself consists of a variety of trees from the humble oak to the mighty redwood, and is by far the most popular forest for visitors and tourists due to this diversity. With permission from its caretakers and natives, a permanent settlement has been erected amongst the foliage to cater to the increase in traffic, albeit with some concern among the locals. Nevertheless, for those who wish for the great outdoors, there is no better forest than grandshroud Forest.

Grandshroud Forest is a temperate forest, and many pokemon who reside within it are suited to such a location, making it suitable for easier adventures, debatably. Throughout your travels in this area, you have the option to visit several sub-areas, which are listed below. (please reply in forestgreen)

Sub Areas

Cedar City: Slowly developed over hundreds of years, Cedar City takes much of its form from Hoenn's Fortree City, but puts the latter to shame in magnitude and splendour. Constructed around and within a thicket of cedar trees, the settlement is considered to be the first port of call for weary explorers to put up their feet and relax. Walkways stretch for miles, some of which even venture out of the city to the surrounding woodland for those who enjoy long walks, and the buildings are eco-friendly by design and requirement. Trade with the natives of the forest are frequent, and the shrewd investor can find themselves with some interesting deals by day. At night, the natural light filtering through the leaves and spot of clearance allows for sights of the sky that are almost unparalleled.

The Breeders Guild: Nestled on the forest floor beneath Cedar City, the Breeders Guild has been established to study and care for the native Pokemon of the Arboreal Cradle. The Guild readily accepts apprentices, who are often required to travel with senior guild members to different parts of the Cradle

Grandshroud Navel: While a great deal of Grandshroud Forest is under shade naturally, the navel really shows how the forest earned its name. Plantlife is not as common on the floor of the navel as the sheer coverage of leaves above renders the ground below under permanent shade, and indeed in certain areas of the forest the lack of light can require personal sources. Those who venture into the deeper areas of the navel may find pokemon and objects of interest, and perhaps even some treasures or items that previous explorers left behind or lost in their own ventures.

Fall's Grace: By far the most visually stunning part of the Grandshroud Forest, the majority of trees here are of the maple variety and the area itself seems to be in a perpetual autumn, giving every tree within this part of the forest a breathtaking spectrum of gold and brown. Within this area reside the native Vitri, humans who have lived alongside nature for as long as they can remember, and the Vitri are welcoming to those who treat the forest with respect. While their lifestyle may appear a little outdated to some, the tribes are well versed in the arts of nature and have been willing to offer their skills and trades in favour of tasks and other such tidbits, and several of the Vitri have even been known to offer tourists a passage to other biomes of the Cradle.

Celia's Grotto: For those who are of a more occult heart, or simply seek guidance on matters that no other philosopher can answer, the paths through the trees will inevitably take them to this small mossy cavern, alleged home to a being more mythical than many legendary pokemon: Celia, the Dryad. Those who have sought out this mysterious figure fail to memorise their encounters with her, and there are many within the woods who claim her to be folklore, and yet there is the odd traveller who has somehow had some immense trouble lifted from their shoulders, or whom have had life-changing experiences. Perhaps the dryad does exist, or perhaps not, but for those who stumble upon this grotto, their lives will certainly change for better or worse...

Guardian's Springs: Travellers and explorers don't find the springs: they are invited. A closely guarded secret of the Grandshroud Forest, the Guardian's Springs are said to be the home of the Guardian of the temperate forest, a verdant being whose physical form allows them the power of flight, and with the power to cleanse even the most corrupt of souls. Any attempts to enter without permission from a trusted individual will be met with fierce resistance, yet for those who have proven their worth, the Guardian may allow entry into their personal Nirvana, and provide the lucky guest with entertainment and rewards only a divine could offer.

Palearchean Wildwoods
The Coniferous Taiga

Situated towards the northern end of the Cradle, the Palearchean Wildwoods depict the most evident sign that the Cradle is unique due to its geographical location and general proximity to other biomes. Perpetually frigid, the hardy conifers of the Wildwoods stand in a temperate zone that should by all means thaw the soil the trees grow in, yet the earth remains as solid as steel to all but the hardest shovels and the bitter air sinks into skin like teeth on a Sharpedo. The local Sirunsan who call this land home claim that it is the ancestral heart of all taiga, and that rock from the core of the forest helped shape Mount Zephyria over a thousand miles away. With the nature of the taiga, the pokemon within are as hardy as can be, and the chill of the frosty earth affects living things in unusual ways.

The Palearchean Wildwoods are a coniferous forest in a tundra plain, and the wildlife within have endured and thrived in the challenging conditions. Throughout your journey in the wildwoods, there are several points of interest... (please reply in mediumaquamarine)

Sub Areas

Sirunsan Settlements: The Wildwoods are a great expanse and signs of human life aren't as frequent as other forests, yet the Sirunsan people call this land their home. Scattered across the taiga, the sight of log and stone cabins are welcome for many explorers, and the Sirunsan, while a little intimidating, are charitable tribes who know the sight of a shivering unprepared traveller and chuckle, preparing an urn of warm soup and some appropriate garb. They do however enjoy sport, and their hospitality usually curtails providing them with entertainment of some form, be it through combat or skill.

The Hunters Guild: With the Cradle now visited by more people with each passing day, the potential for changes in the delicate ecosystem is rising. The Hunters Guild was established to help reduce the impact of travellers. Working on a bounty system, trainers may find themselves capturing introduced species, chasing off poachers or even calming wild Pokemon that have been disturbed.

Dragon's Descent: Taiga are known for having ground that is almost impossible to break through without immense force and determination, yet there have been incidents where something of meteoric force has impacted. One such point is a large depression, marked by scorched earth and trees blown backwards, and the discovery of small fragments of unknown material have led to the belief that the crater was formed by the fall of a mighty dragon during a heated battle. The crater itself is seldom visited, but those who have ventured down have reported unusual sightings of otherworldly nature, and some of the most unusual behaviour in the world has been attributed to this paradox of a hole in the world...

Icebound Castle: The largest clearing in the Cradle belongs to the Wildwoods, where a vast frozen lake sits in a natural vale. The ice sheet itself is a couple of metres thick and has been the source of ice fishing by the Sirunsan, but many who venture here come to check out what has been dubbed the Icebound Castle, a massive rocky outcrop in the centre of the lake completely caked in spires of ice that give the impression of a castle. Entry is at the explorer's own risk, and few have entered the cavern entrance of the castle and escaped intact, making the place treacherous. During the night, among the aurorae, the wail of the wind carries an unusual echo of a voice emanating from the castle, though that may just be the wind...right?

Winter's Wrath: The deepest copse of the Wildwoods is also the most dangerous. Here, the winds howl and scream, the snow freezes into icy spears that tear into flesh and cloth, and the wild pokemon are among the most brutal and merciless in the entire Cradle. Here and there the frozen remains of foolish adventurers lay, either huddled in a frozen tomb or in fragments scattered in small rings. The Sirunsa stay well clear of this land, except for the young men who venture into this bitter waste as a rite of passage. Those who wish to truly earn the respect of the Palearchean natives may accept the rite for themselves, but be warned: once you enter the copse, you are either leaving a hero, or never leaving.

Edelweiss, the Guardian's Peak: By no means the tallest point of the Cradle, Edelweiss is still a very tall mountain in the very centre of the wildwoods, and the upper echelons bear nothing but frozen stone. At the very peak a rift can be sighted in the rock, and folklore tells of the cold and stoic Guardian of the Palearchean, whose physical nature binds them to their mountain. There are no requirements for anyone visiting, for none are required: those who wish to meet the Guardian have to survive the trek up the mountain, then to survive within Edelweiss itself, and to date nobody outwith the Cradle has done so.

Lythan'Torr Glades
The Tropical Rainforest

Lythan'Torr. To most humans, it means little. To the Lythanki tribes, it represents blessings. The name in the native tongue means “Sacred Woods of Torr,” the name of Torr referring to the Guardian of the rainforest. Adding onto the mysterious nature of the Arboreal Cradle, a swathe of the forest hugs the Palearchean Wildwoods, a blend of tropical and taiga in inexplicable fashion, yet the tales of the Cradle being the source of all life on the world holds weight, and Lythan'Torr certainly holds that weight. With an ecosystem rivalling that of Alola, the jungles of the glades – it in itself more an honorific given the size of the forest – have one of the greatest varieties of pokemon residing within, as well as many different tribes of people, who collectively fall under the Lythanki umbrella and connected by one thread: Torr. Explorers should take heed of the beauty, for despite the majesty of the jungle, there are always dangers afoot.

The Lythan'Torr Glades are a tropical rainforest and hold the most biodiversity of any major area, providing much opportunity for adventure. Throughout your escapades in the glades, some locations may catch your attention more than others... (please reply in chartreuse)

Sub Areas

Old King's Temple: The history of the Lythanki is deep and gnarled, much like the trees found within the ancient temple of the Old King, a great figurehead in the annals who was said to have united the warring tribes to fend off a great evil. Following his passing a massive complex was built, his riches interred within and sealed in the depths. Foolish treasure hunters have journeyed into the temple, and none have emerged, having succumbed to the traps within and the old king's loyal bodyguards, who even in death remain to guard their lord with every fibre of their being. The halls are filled with the rich history of the Lythanki, and there are researchers who seek their own bodyguards to safeguard their explorations.

Springstar's Glory: Many different tribes reside within the forest, each with their own ways and nature, and all respect each other and their ways. At certain times, the chieftains and shamans of different tribes meet in this constructed amphitheatre to conduct offerings and hold feasts, and trainers who wish to learn of the ways or simply wish to experience a day in the life of the Lythanki can seek the building for themselves. However, those who venture should do so with an air of caution, for there is no telling whether their intrusion will be welcomed, and hostilities can and have occurred. On the other hand, if the invitation seems too good to be true, then it may very well be, and an adventurer could end up as a guest of honour at a feast, or as the feast for a guest of honour...

Leniazom Banks: The Leniazom river is the longest within the Glades, and serves as a source of freshwater for many pokemon and Lythanki. The banks of the river stretch for miles on end, and hold a plethora of unique fauna, some of which can only be found within the mud of the Leniazom. Some can catch a boat trip up and down the length of the river either with fellow journeymen or with the Lythanki who can appreciate a helping hand with their trips, and much of the tribal settlements can be found not far from the banks of the river. The rapids are dangerous, however, and a trip down the river may very well result in a ride you'll never forget and may be lucky to escape.

The Healers Guild: The Healers Guild was established to provide a more mobile replacement for the traditional Pokemon Center. While the building stands on the banks of the Leniazom river, Healers Guild members can be found throughout the Arboreal Crater. Utilising the powers of Pokemon, medicine and traditional remedies learned from the tribes, the Healers Guild seeks to ensure that all Pokemon are kept in the best condition. The Healers Guild is always looking for apprentices who are eager to improve the healing skills of their Pokemon.

Canopy Crossways: Much of the interests of the forest aren't within the grounds, but up on the treetops where the branches are thick and the vines sturdy. With agility and a head for heights, one can discover a literal community of pokemon and humans resident in the canopies, though communication may be an issue. The many trees connect with each other providing literal pathways across tracts of land, and the fruits of the forest grow in abundance in the sprawling expanses. With all due respect though, be careful where you put your footing, for not all branches were grown equally, and a break in the trees may very well lead you to an almost guaranteed fatal fall, and if the fall doesn't kill you, the fearsome predators who also call the canopy and floor home will.

Del'Torr, Sanctum of the Guardian: Lythanki custom is that each passing of the great rains, a young man and woman must venture to the highest plateau of the rainforest to Del'Torr, Citadel of Torr, and make a great offering to the Guardian of the Lythan'Torr Glades. What this great offering specifically involves is unknown, but by the time the two return to their home, it is usually with a baby in tow, giving rise to the outlander belief that part of the offering is carnal in nature. What is known however is the identity of the Guardian, a spirit of the land whose nature gives life to the land and fertility to the infertile. Finding Del'Torr is no easy feat, and being recognised by the Guardian even tougher, yet the prospect of trials has often invited thrillseekers hunting for a challenge to approach the Sanctum. Whether the applicants are successful or not is another matter entirely, for the Guardian is wily and powerful, sculpting their trials to specific individuals or couples.

The Heartless Hallows
The Fossilised Savannah

While much of the Cradle's land is covered in forests, not all forests were created equal, and the Cycle dictates that all Life will eventually give way to Death. Few could argue that the Heartless Hallows represent the finality of life, nor could few argue that the plains aren't tragically beautiful. By definition, a forest is a wooded expanse, yet the Hallows that wrap around and through the Cradle can only be loosely called one. Spires of petrified trees stand in endless watch, while the occasional shrub and savannah tree pokes out of dried and dusty ground, with the odd plateau and mesa jutting out of the earth. The forest itself bears a sort of dignified acceptance of the end of life, and within the badlands there are pockets of life here and there, but the tourist attractions are certainly the position of the hallows as the biggest petrified woodland in the world.

The Heartless Hallows are a savannah, and the hardy pokemon within are suited to the almost perpetually long days that drag on in the heat. Throughout your pilgrimage, some intriguing locales may warrant your interest. (please reply in olivedrab)

Sub Areas

Mausoleum of Giants: Stories have been told of demons from the depths of hell who rose to conquer the world, and of the Guardians who thwarted their attempts and vanquished them. In their final battle, the Guardians slain five thousand demons, and their remains were left to rot under the watchful eye of Yveltal to ensure they dared not rise once more. Whether the tales are true or not, there lies a vast basin with the bones of creatures of immense size in what is effectively an archaeological site. Permits are required to excavate in the mausoleum, and those who have stayed a reasonable length of time there have reported unusual sounds and whispers urging them to do unfathomable and unthinkable acts, which has driven some to madness. The remains within have great financial value, but is it worth the effort and potential risk?

Dead Man's Rest: Unlike the other forested areas, the Hallows have no tribal settlements, and most natives of the Cradle travel nomadically through the savannah. That's not to say there's no permanent settlement however, for the Dead Man's Rest exists to offer a roof over your head. Run by a motley mix of Vitri, Sirunsa and Lythanki peoples, the town is in essence a large inn that caters for those who are travelling the wastes, and is a welcome sight for sore eyes and sorer limbs. Some of the prospectors from the nearby mines call the rest their own and have often been found seeking new blood to help extract the riches from the deep...with due respect to the land, of course.

Pit of the Devourer: A grim name for one of the deepest trenches on the face of the world, the Pit is a spectacle to behold. A ravine so cavernous there's no sight of the bottom, the scar in the Cradle itself offers some of the most incredible views imaginable, and abseiling points have been erected here and there for those who are daring enough to venture into said ravine. The pit earns its name for the way in that it appears to be a great maw, ready to devour all who lose their footing, and indeed the pit has a certain infamy as a spot for those who wish to end their lives willingly and in ridiculous manner. Some say the spirits of those who have fallen remain in the very bottom, unable to escape, but those are just stories made to dissuade the growing number of self-inflicted deaths, as many believe.

Titan's Butte: Among the fossilised trees lies an unusual spire of rock that stands by itself, yet usually appears to have been driven into the ground judging by the fractured earth around it. According to folklore, the butte was formed when a giant drove a mountaintop into the crust to provide them with a seat to rest upon during a break between shaping the continents. The rock itself requires either a strong set of wings or excellent mountaineering to scale, but provides excellent views of the Hallows, as well as another interesting utility. Every month or so, a number of powerful pokemon venture to the clifftop to do battle with each other in a test of strength, and for trainers seeking a challenge, nothing is more tantalising than battling some of the mightiest creatures in the Cradle. If exceptional, you may even catch the attention of the Guardian of the land.

Summer's Hasp, the Guardian's Tower: For all the lack of civilisation in the Hallows, there is at least some sign of human existence at the foot of a tall spire, a massive petrified tree hollowed out over time. These people are the Keepers, and their role is to allow entry only to those who have proven their worth in the eye of the Guardian of the Hallows. Those who have been granted entry will find themselves with a monumental task when they discover what the Guardian is, and what the Guardian seeks of the traveller. Finding your way to Summer's Hasp is not difficult, but the trials to enter offered by the Keepers are arduous and tough, much like the forest itself. Earning the respect of the Guardian however could prove to be extremely rewarding.

Zalfarthas
The Ancient Feywood

Within specific spots of the Cradle lie mysterious rings of ethereal plants, whose roots are stronger than anything imaginable. Those who stand within the ring will find themselves seeing the world through different eyes, and will soon discover the Cradle's true heartland of Zalfarthas. Here the trees grow to sizes impossible by natural standards, and the wonders of life truly shine. While one may enter the Feywood as they wish, leaving is another matter entirely, and there have been people who enter and never leave, though that may be down to the whimsical and gay nature of the forest. The tribes of the Cradle call the forest the spiritual side of the Cradle, and the laws of nature apply not: fire cannot burn within the confines of the woods, and the trees seem to exude vitality akin to humans. Indeed, there have been sightings of vaguely human creatures which resemble no pokemon seen before, and the pokemon themselves are more than capable of understanding the human tongue, but whatever the circumstances it can be agreed on by all who visit Zalfarthas: you're going to have a magical time.

Zalfarthas may not be the easiest place to get to, though entrances have been found in any of the forests, yet the pokemon within are unlike any found in the four biomes of the Arboreal cradle. Should you stumble upon passage to the Feywood, you may find... (please reply in hotpink)

Sub Areas

Cosmic Clearing: Some of the trees within the feywood have their own gravitational pull, allowing people to walk upon their trunks. Those who climb said trees will soon learn that they're no longer on the ground, but walking through the skies and gazing up at the Feywood itself. These people have entered the Cosmic Clearing, an area where up is down and the rules seem inverted. Wandering through the stars, adventurers may visit certain parts of the Feywood that otherwise seem inaccessible, or alternatively they may choose to simply lay back and count the stars, waiting for adventure to take them instead. And more often than not, adventure does.

Rainbow Grove: Taking a wander through the Feywood will result in one discovering a special part of the forest where the trees take on a spectrum of colours that boggle the mind. The grove that they are in is populated with mysterious plantlife and pokemon, much like a dream one has, and it is said that if you take a rest and slumber within the grove, you will be taken to your deepest dreams, where you can experience your greatest dreams in person. The fey spirits are mischievous though, and there's every possibility you'll be thrust into your darkest nightmare at a moment's notice, and forced to confront your ultimate fears.

The Hidden Village: You do not search for the hidden village, for you will never find it. If you find one of the natives of the Feywood and befriend them, you may be taken to what has been called a natural nirvana, where the waters taste of your favourite beverage and the fruits your favourite food. This is just rumours of course, for nobody has ever seen the village for themselves, and the natives are so elusive that you'd have better luck finding a Celebi in the middle of an urban metropolis. Then again, miracles have happened.

Magical Mansion: The wonder of the Feywood is that you'll never know what awaits you, and a majestic mansion in the middle of the woods is certainly not one of them. Seemingly void of life, the mansion itself seems to be sentient, inviting explorers to discover its secrets, and capable of changing form at will. Wandering through the mansion can easily lead you to becoming lost, and there have been tales of entrances vanishing, trapping those within forever. How long forever is remains unknown, as time doesn't seem to flow within the building, but what is known is that there are artifacts of otherworldly power within that cannot be found anywhere else in our world, whether those are enough to entice you remains to be seen.

Grotto of Apotheosis, Soul of the Cradle: Tightly locked away, only those who have earned the respect of all Guardians may venture into this natural cave, where it is said rests the Gods of the Cradle, maintaining the Cycle and ensuring that the Order of Life and Death is not interrupted. Entry is enforced, and forced entry is said to result in a fate worse than death itself, and to date no human from our world has personally witnessed the Soul of the Cradle. The grotto itself bears the title of an ascension to godhood, and it is said that anyone who does enter without suffering a terrible fate will receive a gift from the Gods Themselves. The outskirts of the grotto are home to pokemon of such incredible strength that calling them legendary would not be an offense.

“Jesus. This is brutal.”

Hugo wasn’t speaking to anyone in particular, perhaps just to prove to himself that he was still alive. Despite being heavily bundled, the vicious winds ripped through to his bones. It probably didn’t matter how many sweaters or jackets or pairs of socks he put on. The wind was unlike any other had ever experienced and regardless of which direction he walked, he always seemed to be heading directly into it. It caused his eyes to water, and the tears began to freeze as they trickled down his face. Perhaps this time, he had finally let his ambition get the best of him. Perhaps this time, like so many others before him that he had been told about, he wasn’t going to be able to get out of this one.

He wouldn’t really call it pride necessarily. Rather, Hugo constantly felt like he had something to prove. A bit Napoleon-like. He had been bullied and underestimated as a child, and though he felt that he had grown past that, it still reared its head deep within his psyche. And sometimes that caused him to make rash decisions to try and show that he was just as tough as anyone else.

When he heard of the Sirunsan trial at Winter’s Wrath, he tried not to even think about it. There were plenty of other places to visit in the Arboreal Cradle. Why risk your life? Who are you trying to impress? This kind of talk never worked, try as he might. His own insecurities bubbled up and he overcompensated and now he had to put up or shut up.

He put on a pair of ski goggles to try and better his vision. It barely worked, but he was able to see the jagged, frozen towers of ice rising from the barren ground. They reminded him of a glass art display he had seen at a museum once. Some even had a tinge of red to them too. Hugo shuddered at that idea.

Get out of here. What are you doing to yourself? Are you insane? Who cares what anyone else thinks? You will DIE!

His internal monologue raged, but it was drowned out by another voice in his brain.

Do it, bitch.

“I’ve got this,” he said with unwarranted confidence.

The Heartless Hallows
The Fossilised Savannah

While much of the Cradle's land is covered in forests, not all forests were created equal, and the Cycle dictates that all Life will eventually give way to Death.

Big groans slightly in the heat of this Savannah. He wasn't sure where he landed when he got booted back to his own time after a mishap with the Time Gate but he had finally gotten his bearings. Luckily this was another area he had planned on visiting in search of one of his planned pokemon. Perhaps the Oracle had meant for him to get jumped back to his own time all along and the "Trip" to Egyia was simply to get him in the right place or time to get him back here. Either way, from the research he had done previously there was definitely some kind of excavation site around here. If he was going to find a fossil pokemon, this was going to be the place to do it. He'd have to make some attempt in tracking down a permit or something similar but it would be well worth the time and energy if he could find the pokemon he was looking for. But in a more immediate sense, he would have to do something about this unbearable heat. He pulls out the great ball from his bag and tosses it forward, releasing one of his newer pokemon, Wake the Marill. "Hey buddy, I know its a little hot out but I thought that's where you could help me out." He says as the water pokemon immediately does his best to fan himself with his small arms. "I think a water sport would go a long way." The Marill nods and begins to spray out a nice mist of water to cool the pair down. "Thanks." Big says in relief and then leads the pair in search of his quarry.

OOC: If any mods are reading this and paying attention as to why im posting in a third zone, don't worry, I already dropped my one in Dialga's gate and let Lit know.

King Ghidorah- Fighting internally but eventually deciding that you need to prove yourself, you edge closer to the Winter's Wrath. The deep copse of trees can barely be seen through the swirling snow. The storm strangely seems to be centred within the forest itself, it was certainly going to get cold in there. You're about to pass through the first trees when a voice shouts out at you.

"Have you got a bloody death wish?!" You turn to your left to see a massive blue and white Dragon. It stares at you with its pale pink eyes, was this dragon talking to you? You also notice that there is no snow falling around the dragon, it seemed to stop with a 6ft radius of the large Pokemon. "I'm up here you dingus", a rough old voice grumbles from the Drampa's back. Peering around past the dragon's head, you spot an old man, draped in a thick coat. He slides down from the dragon's back, his heavy satchel dropping to the ground with a thud. "Were you honestly about to head into the copse without a guide? Did you even speak with the Sirunsan? You know that place is sacred to them right? They would probably kill you without hesitation." The man picks up his satchel, adjusting it to keep it out of the snow. "My name is Arnold, Arnold Fairweather. I've been out here living with and learning from the Sirunsan, helping to teach them English so that they can communicate with the outside world. If you really want to head into Winter's Wrath then you're going to need to come meet the tribe first."

It seems this grumpy old man may have just saved you from a painful death. Having someone with you who knows the Sirunsan would certainly be beneficial if you still intended on heading into the copse, but perhaps you still wished to continue despite the risks?

Hugo was weary of the old man. In the past when he had encountered strangers like this, it led to pandemonium. There was the old miner in Bedlam Ridge which led Hugo down a treacherous cave, and then there were the Power Plant workers in New Fizz City. And that…well, Hugo tried to block that memory from his mind completely.

Still, he was freezing. And despite his desire to do this on his own, the logical part of his brain briefly overpowered his pride. If the cold didn’t kill him, the Sirunsan really might. He didn’t do enough research on them before he ventured out. This Arnold person apparently had an in with them.

But Hugo was skeptical of him. History shows that “translators” and others who were the first to endear themselves to indigenous people often had darker ulterior motives. Perhaps that’s what was happening here. And perhaps the Sirunsan would resent Hugo for aligning himself with him. A particularly harsh wind blew across Hugo’s body and he decided it was a risk worth taking.

Hugo was fascinated by the Drampa. The snow seemingly repelled itself from around it’s large body. “Must be Cloud Nine,” Hugo thought to himself. Drampa were a strange breed, for sure. It’s pink, expressionless eyes made it impossible to determine what it was thinking.

“Hugo Harrison,” said Hugo to Arnold, his eyes slowly moving from Drampa to the old man. “No, I don’t have a death wish and yes, I was planning to give it a go on my own. You think it would be better for me to come with you, huh?”

Hugo paused, looking the man up and down. His toes were going numb in his boots.

“Okay, Arnold. Thank you for helping me. That would be great.”

((Thanks for taking me in TKF! ^^))

Tama Kalua, the 10-year-old boy from Alola who'd fled to Fizzytopia to prove himself to the world, adjusted his red jacket as he approached the Hunters' Guild. He didn't handle cold all that well, having lived his whole life in a tropical region, but he was as stubborn as a Mudbray - he'd come here to prove a point and he wasn't about to turn back and quit like a little girl.

"See Rowlet, we're gonna show these Hunters how to do their job," he boasted like he always did. "We're gonna hunt the biggest, baddest demons in the the Cradle all by ourselves, and we're gonna be famous! From there it's just a small step to the League, then all I gotta do is beat Gary, Emilia and Lucas, and you're looking at the new Fizzytopia Champion!"

Rowlet simply nodded, mostly disinterested. He could only stomach the same story so many times, but he couldn't bring himself to shatter the youngsters dreams - even if the pecking order in Fizzytopia didn't work quite like that. Oh well, Tama would figure it out eventually.

What did bother the owl was that Tama's two other companions, Totodile and Elekid, shared not only the boy's excessive enthusiasm, but also his delusions of grandeur. They were farther up head, racing one another to see who'd get to the Guild's entrance first - they were best friends, after all, and equally addicted to competition.

At least Snorlax was quiet. Rowlet liked him... except when he snored, or when he mistook him for a chicken and, therefore, dinner. On most other occasions, though, Snorlax was the perfect company: he slept a lot, moved very little, and didn't give a damn about Tama's reckless orders. It was to be expected, really... he was a Snorlax, and technically, the giant didn't belong to Tama in the first place; the boy had stolen him from Ori, his own father, which explained the disobedience. Not that Rowlet cared to think what would happen when a beast of Snorlax's power started obeying a boy like Tama...

"You're not even listening, are you?" chastised the Alolan prodigy, as they finally reached the Guild. "Fine, I'll have the others do the heavy work when push comes to shove. I doubt you could beat a Caterpie from the Cradle to begin with!"

Rowlet shook his head. Tama still hadn't realized that wasn't the way to rile him up...

Sub Areas

The Breeders Guild: Nestled on the forest floor beneath Cedar City, the Breeders Guild has been established to study and care for the native Pokemon of the Arboreal Crater. The Guild readily accepts apprentices, who are often required to travel with senior guild members to different parts of the crater.

Kawaii had always loved pokemon, she identified with them more than humans. She understood them and they understood her. As she admired the surrounding greenery she felt the soft brush of her constant companion by her side. Frieghya was constantly around for two reasons, she didn't like being in a pokeball and she was constantly keeping an eye on her trainer. The Espeon trotted only a few steps ahead keeping an ear out for danger. Nestled in the pink-haired trainer's hand was a small brown bird-pokemon looking nervously out of it's wings. Wasabi chirped nervously and Kawaii gave his head a reassuring stroke with her thumb. The Starly made a small coo-ing noise and settled down a bit. In contrast a Spoink rocketed past, bouncing happily on the spring that kept his heart beating in time with each time he hit the floor. Porco rosso was a very bold pig-pokemon. He had a habit of charging forward into the heat of battle or the midst of an adventure. This was a bit of a flaw because he was so under leveled that he had a tendency to get very hurt. Nearby, almost unseen was a ghost type. The misdrevus , surprisingly a male one, was quite disgusted by the wild forest surrounding him. Frank was a bit of a stuck up and didn't really like dirt. He could be seen as effeminate, unlike another pokemon of Kawaii's team, he was certainly not just gay. This little ghost type would woo any pokemon of any gender, even the non-gendered pokemon.
As the small team approached guild and Kawaii's heart sped up a slight bit.

And more often than not, adventure does.
.
The night was quiet and cold. Silence was the best way to describe it, a silence of life itself. The only thing he could see was the shine of the stars, shining brightly onto the clearing. The sky seemed huge, vast, and full of life. Yet, it also felt empty... As empty as the clearing he was in. He didn't recognize any of the stars in this sky, and to Leo that was both exciting and a bit unnerving. He didn't remember how he got here. He just wandered through that sea of trees. What was it called again... The Arboreal Cradle? Large forests weren't common in Alola, with the only big one being the Lush Jungle on Akala Island... Not that he knew what it looked like. But this place, it felt full of cold energy compared to the liveliness of Alola.

Still, the stars was something comforting to Leo. He'd commonly sneak with some of his fellow grunts towards Mt. Hokulani to stargaze. Those were the days... Not having a care in the world. Feeling free to do what he wanted as long as he didn't get on Old Man Nanu's bad side. Not that he ever did. He was a good kid by Team Skull's standards. Often cooking and helping Big Sis keep things in check. Yet, nothing lasts forever. His life wasn't necessarily taken from him, but it did come crashing down. Everyone seemed to have just... disappeared. Team Skull was no longer and he was alone. Those bygone days were some of his happiest, but he wasn't going to let this affect his chipper demeanor.

So why did he feel so nostalgic looking at those stars? Was it truly because of those days... The days he'd return to if he could. Everyone was connected under the same sky. He knew that, and that whenever he looked up at those stars he knew his friends were looking at them as well. This cold place... that seemed to be filled with something. It too, was under that sky. A sky so bright, so warm.

"I'll do my best everyone," he muttered to himself, before getting a huge grin on his face as he continued to stare at those stars. He was on this journey for a reason. And when he'd return home, he'd make everyone a giant cake. Now wasn't the time for melancholy. It was time for adventure! Though, he felt he'd just stare at the stars a little longer. They felt... hypnotic somehow.

King Ghidorah- You had a lack of trust in strangers after your recent experiences. Translator's like Arnold often had dark ulterior motives, perhaps he was manipulating the Sirunsan, or exploiting their knowledge to find some powerful artefact? However with your toes losing sensation and your lack of understanding of Sirunsan customs inhibiting your ability to complete the trial, you didn't have many other options. You accept Arnold's offer for help, the old timer doesn't seemed surprised, you would have been an idiot to reject him. The Drampa allows you to climb onto its back, it wasn't exactly warm in the dragon's presence but the lack of falling snow was certainly a relief.

The Drampa moved at a slow and steady pace, but it was more than equipped to move through the thick snow. "The Sirunsan have a few young men preparing to undertake the trial as we speak. Despite not knowing anything about the trial you certainly managed to pick the right time to undertake it." You pass through a thicket of trees and into a small camp. None of the guards react, it seems they are more than familiar with the Drampa and its trainer. The slim Sirunsan warriors are wrapped in fur pelts, some carry spears while others wield bows. You dismount the Drampa with Arnold and approach a crackling fire. An older man, marked with tattoos speaks across the fire to three boys in their mid teens. Two of the boys are quite tall and well built, while the third is much shorter and built like a twig. Upon spotting Arnold the older man stops speaking and the boys turn to face you.

"Arnold, we wondered when you would arrive", the older man spoke slowly, English clearly wasn't his native tongue but he still had a solid grasp of it. "Who is this stranger accompanying you?"

"Elder, this is Hugo, he was about to charge into the Winter's Wraith by himself to try and attempt the trial." The boys look shocked, whether it is due to your bravery or stupidity is unknown. "He still wishes to complete the trial, I was wondering whether you would be willing to let him participate?"

The elder looks you over, considering Arnold's request. "He is older and knows little of our customs. If I am to allow this, than I must know your motives. Why would an outsider want to complete our rite of passage?"

Maskerade- Young and full of ambition, you enter the large wooden building that is the Hunters Guild. With 'most' of your Pokemon eager to assist you, you intend to prove yourself by taking on some of the biggest threats in the Crater, that would certainly prove you were a trainer worth watching out for. Snorlax gives you a hand to push the heavy wooden doors open, revealing a swarm of activity inside the guild. Two long rows of tables run up the length of the hall. Men and women of every shape and size line the tables, joking and jostling as they swig heavily from pints of ale. At the end of the hall you spot a large noticeboard, filled with flyers, bounties! As you make your way towards the noticeboard you catch the attention of nearby hunters. You were without a doubt the youngest in the room by at least a decade, not that it mattered to you.

You finally reach the noticeboard and a number of high profile bounties immediately catch your eye. 'Relocate Rampaging Tyranitar', 'Exorcise Possessed Sirunsan Child', 'Eliminate Poaching Syndicate in the Hallows' to name a few. With so many options it was going to be hard to make a decision. A large hand pushes you out of the way before you can finish deciding.

"Out of the way kid, go back to school", the hulking hunter snatches a flyer from the board as he glares down at you.

"Simmer down Blake, he's just a kid", a charming man approaches, followed closely by a Gallade. "You've got your bounty now get to work, before we have to embarrass you in front of the entire guild again.

"Whatever Tristan", Blake grunts before storming past him.

"Now kid", Tristan turns his attention to you, "this isn't exactly a playground." Tristan's Gallade glances up at your Snorlax, giving him a once over. "The Crater is a dangerous place for travellers and the job of us hunters is even more dangerous. Your Pokemon are certainly impressive, but I don't know if you're cut out for this line of work. However I might have a task for you, no one else has been interested in it but beggars can't be choosers right?"

Hugo pauses and looks to Arnold, but doesn’t seem to get any sort of clarification as to what he’s supposed to say. He thinks for a moment before responding.

“It is my great honor to be in your presence, Elder,” Hugo said, choosing his words carefully. “It is true that I am an outsider and know only of your traditions what I was able to learn from outside sources. And while I may not have the deep understanding of the intricacies--”

He paused. Was intricacies a good word to use when speaking to someone who clearly did not have a complete grasp of the English language? Too many complex words could confuse, or even anger, the Sirunsan elder.

“--..of the reasons behind the trial of the Winter’s Wrath, I do feel that we share a common heart.

My name is Hugo Harrison. Much of my life has been surrounded by ease and comfort. As such, I feel that my abilities have been underestimated. That I am often viewed as weak or incapable because I have not had to deal with true adversi--…with true challenge in life.

But I do not agree with that sentiment. I have great faith in my own abilities, but I need to be able to demonstrate that meaningfully. To prove to the world and to verify my own feelings that I should not be dismissed. So that is why I chose to challenge Winter’s Wrath.

Perhaps it was foolish of me to act so quickly. But please understand, I mean no disrespect to you or your customs. Rather, I see this trial as the ultimate challenge, steeped in history and a true test of strength.

So I understand that I may not fit the usual mold…and I understand that risks that come with it. But with your permission, it is my request that you allow me to participate in your trial.”

This was his kind of place. A gathering hub for a bunch of people who thought they were tough, just begging to be taken down a peg by a real Trainer.

No wonder these jobs haven't been picked up yet. These hulking idiots would probably struggle against a Larvitar, let alone a "rampaging Tyranitar". True, I'm still not ready for that kind of battle either, but at the rate I'm getting stronger, I give it about... a month.

Never short on self confidence, Tama walked up to the board and prepared to pick a flyer... until he was unceremoniously pushed away by a giant of a hunter.

Mister, this is not a battle you want to fight! was what Tama thought. But for some reason - or perhaps basic survival instinct - his mouth remained shut while his fist curled into a ball in frustration.

Rowlet breathed a sigh of relief. For a moment, he thought Tama was gonna do something stup...

"Blake, is it? I'm gonna kick your ass some day." There, survival instinct all gone. Rowlet felt like crying.

Meanwhile, a more soft-spoken Hunter had walked up to them, some Tristan guy accompanied by a Gallade. Tama eyed him up as well.

Can't beat that one yet. But when Rowlet evolves it's as good as done.

As Tristan went on with his patronizing speech, Tama crossed his arms and smirked just as condescendingly.

"Hm, 'kay, lemme see if I get this right. You don't think I'm cut out to be a Hunter, but you still got something you want me to do. So I assume it's not a Hunter's task, or you'd be an idiot, which leaves us with what? Cleaning the toilets?"

Rowlet felt like murdering the boy at this point. But with the overly-supportive Totodile and Elekid egging him on, the owl knew he was at a severe disadvantage as far as common freaking sense went. So instead, he just pretended to fall asleep on Tama's shoulder to avoid further embarrassment.

"I'm better than you give me credit for. Throw whatever you got at me, I can handle it."

He probably couldn't.

King Ghidorah- Speaking as simply as you can, you share your reasons for pursuing the trial. As you speak the Elder's facial expression doesn't shift, he doesn't even blink. As your tale comes to an end you find yourself waiting in silence. Was your motive enough? Had you anger them more? The silence was starting to drive you mad.

"You may undertake the trial", the Elder speaks softly, however the two taller Sirunsan boys erupt. They speak in their native tongue, so you can't make out what they are saying but it is clear that they aren't impressed with the Elder's decision. The two are eventually settled and you are offered a seat at the fire, however you can't help but feel the glare of the two teens. "Now listen as I tell you all what you must do. When the moon is at its peak you will all enter the Winter's Wrath. Hugo since you aren't familiar with our weapons, you will be permitted to use two of your Pokemon. Be warned however as the Winter's Wrath is perilous for Pokemon not adapted for the cold. There are two things you must gather within the Wrath. The antlers of a Sawsbuck and the silk of a shiny Spinarak. Together these will be forged into an unbreakable bow, a weapon that will serve you throughout your life. You have a few hours to prepare, I suggest you all use the time wisely."

With that the two larger Sirunsan make a swift exit, giving you one more unsettling look as they disappear into a tent. Arnold approaches you with the smaller Sirunsan beside him. "Hugo I would like you to meet Archie, he has been one of my brightest students."

The young Sirunsan extends a hand, he'd learnt the custom of shaking hands it seems. "Nice to meet you Hugo, but I'm afraid you probably shouldn't do the trial. Jamon and Hardak implied that you would likely come to harm, I believe they intend to cause this harm themselves."

"What if you worked with him Archie?" The young Sirunsan was a little stunned by Arnold's suggestion. "We both know you are smarter than both of them combined, but you're going to struggle physically within the Wrath. If you and Hugo work together you'd make the perfect team."

"I guess I'm up for it if Hugo is", Archie seems a little unsure, but that was to be expected since he just met you. "What do you think Hugo?"

Maskerade- Tristan breaks into laughter, his hands dropping to his hips as he settles himself into a chuckle. "No cleaning the toilets is a job for someone else, although I admit that the job I'm offering you has been overlooked by the other hunters. Correct me if I'm wrong but your accent, it is Alolan right? I'm seldom wrong, which is why I think you'll be well suited to this task. The local Sirunsan settlements are currently at the mercy of an Alolan native species, I assume you are familiar with Alolan Rattata? They've been getting into the Sirunsan's food stores and the bounty of food has resulted in them breeding like crazy. The Sirusan have been culling them but they can't do it fast enough and there has been no success in locating the Rattatas' leader. Hence your task would be to capture the Rattata's leader, who we could hopefully use to lure the Rattata away." Tristan pauses for a moment to gauge your reaction. It was certainly better than cleaning toilets but dealing with Rattata? Rattata were weak trainer fodder, hardly a task for a future champion like yourself.

"Think of this as an initiation task, complete it and you'll be welcomed into our ranks and allowed to take any bounty you want." Tristan gives you a smile, it appeared more kind than sinister.

"I guess I'm up for it if Hugo is", Archie seems a little unsure, but that was to be expected since he just met you. "What do you think Hugo?"
Hugo was flushed with different emotions. Relieved that he was granted permission, annoyance at the response of the Sirunsan youth, uncertainty about what lie ahead. And now Arnold was trying to pair him with this Archie character.

Hugo had planned to do this alone. That was the whole point after all, wasn’t it? To prove the doubters wrong and rely on his own skill and wherewithal to overcome the Wrath. But simply by existing, Hugo had managed to make enemies in the Sirunsan ranks. But Archie – was he an asset or a liability? Sure, he knew the lay of the land and seemed to be pretty sharp, but he was small and weak.

Then again, Hugo was trying to rally against the naysayers. It was awfully hypocritical of him to, in turn, apply these same doubts to Archie. He was impressed by the kids mastering of English, though. Clearly that was some indication of his intelligence.

“I was hoping to complete this on my own. I’m not exactly looking for a partner. But you know this land. I don’t. You know the customs. I don’t. You have the knowledge. I don’t. But you’re right. Your tribal brothers here seem to have my number and they’re going to have a clear advantage on me.

You seem like a nice kid. A smart kid. I know this is going to be a brutal experience…for all of us. But if we want to survive this – let alone defeat it – it might be in our best interest to work together. So sure. Let’s do it.”

But do not get in my way, he thought to himself.

Tama frowned as he heard the mission.

"Damn right, I'm the Shining Star of Alola! But Rattata? I'm better than that." He felt Rowlet's talons dig into his shoulder, and was quick to get the message. "But fiiine, I'll do it if nobody else will. In record time too - hope you're keepin' track! Just, look, I ain't keeping any stinking rats in my team. I catch the thing for you, and you do whatever you want with it. Rats have no place in a Champion's line-up."

Tama was, of course, very particular about what kind of Pokemon he wanted to raise. Like any 10-year-old hell-bent on showing himself to the world, the boy only cared for Pokemon who were a) really strong, b) really cool, or c) both. How else was he supposed to look good on his way to the top? If he was going to aim for the peak of the mountain, he wanted to have a team as awesome as Levin Sanders, the Saffron prodigy who had also adventured in Fizzytopia several years before him.

They are no match for me - I won't even have to use Snorlax for this. He still doesn't obey me anyway, but these guys don't need to know that. The rest of my team's more than enough to handle pest control.

Theatrically, Tama aimed a finger gun at Tristan and "fired". Getting the cue, Rowlet, Elekid and Totodile leaped forward, assuming their own battle poses - they'd rehearsed that little display over and over again.

"Bang! It's as good as done!"

Then, he remembered something.

"Uh... just show me where I need to go, 'kay?"

King Ghidorah- After pondering on it for a moment, you decide the best course of action is indeed to pair with the young Sirunsan. Archie seemed delighted, while Arnold gave a reassuring nod, certain you had made the right choice.

"You won't regret this Hugo, I'm one of the best trackers in the tribe and I've studied the map of the Wrath so much I see it when I close my eyes." Archie's skills were sure to benefit you, but there was no telling how things would play out in the Winter's Wrath. "You see the dangerous thing about the Winter's Wrath is how cold it gets. The closer you get to the centre, the more likely you are to be turned into a human ice cube. I'd advise you against using any Pokemon weak to Ice type moves, they'll succumb to the Bittercold much faster than others."

Soon a horn sounds and everyone moves off, heading back towards the edge of the Winter's Wrath where you had almost foolishly entered. You spot the other two Sirunsan walking side by side, it seems this had indeed turned into a competition between two pairs. Arnold presents you with a thick fur cloak, much the same as the ones the Sirunsan are wearing. "It'll help keep out the cold for a while", the old man smiles, patting you on the shoulder.

Elder calls all four of you to line up just outside the first line of trees. "Head off as you hear the horn, return with what you seek or don't return at all." Did he mean that? If you weren't successful, would Archie not be allowed to return to his tribe? Before you can ask the horn sounds and the two larger Sirunsan sprint into the forest.

"Come on Hugo", Archie beckons as he rushes into the Winter's Wrath. Following the young Sirunsan, you quickly begin to realize why it wasn't a good idea to enter the Wrath alone. It was noticeably colder here and the snow was falling heavy, obscuring your vision. "We need fire", Archie was right, fire would be helpful here. "The other two won't even bother, it'll be too hard for them but if we can get some torches going it will give us a clear advantage."

Bittercold stage 1: The winter chill will cause frequent damage to pokemon vulnerable or sensitive to the cold, with ice-weak pokemon and certain cold-sensitive pokemon taking an Icy Wind's worth of damage per update.

Maskerade- "Of course I wouldn't expect a strong trainer like yourself to keep a Pokemon like Rattata on your team. That's why I'm sending someone along to help. Charlotte, your services are required!" Tristan shouts out, you look around the room to see which of the bounty hunters would be aiding you. Suddenly you feel your wrist tingle, looking down at it you spot the Joltik clamping onto your wrist. "Tama meet Charlotte, one of our utility Pokemon. You see we keep some Pokemon around the guild with specific skill sets, they can be quite helpful when you need to complete a specific task. You can use Charlotte's webs to capture the Rattata's leader, saves all the mess of dealing with Pokeballs. She also has a few other tricks and she knows her way around so she'll be able to help you find the village you're after. Just be warned though, she isn't trained for battle.

You're joined by Charlotte the Joltik. This utility Pokemon knows the moves Electroweb, Flash, String Shot, Spider Web and Disable.

With that you head off, your team was pumped up and ready for action. As you exit the guild, you look to the Joltik on you right wrist, wondering which way you should go. A tiny electric spark points straight ahead, so that is the way you go! You soon get the hang of the Joltik's directions, all you had to do was head in the direction of the spark. After a couple of hours stumbling through the taiga, you spot a village in the distance, the dwellings built from wood and stone were a welcome sight. Before long you could see the native people of this land, the Sirunsan bustling between their houses. How would you approach? Should you announce your arrival and demand information? Or perhaps it was best to stick to the shadows for now? You'd have to decide quickly, you would surely be spotted soon.

Hugo thought for a moment. The cold winds were brutal, there was no questioning that. But from the moment the Elder had described the tasks he would be required to complete, Hugo knew exactly who he would call upon to assist in the trial.

“Torches, you say?” Hugo said to Archie as he began inspecting the ground for sticks suitable for such use. “If we can build them, I have someone in mind who could help.”

“What kind of name is Archie?” Hugo thought to himself. “For being a relatively primitive group, “Archie” certainly seemed like a fairly modern name. What’s the deal with this guy? Maybe I’ll think about more when my testicles aren’t about to freeze solid.”

Hugo gathered several bundles of sticks from the ground and handed one bunch to Archie, keeping one for himself. “Just give me a second here.” Hugo pulled a Pokeball from his waist and pressed the center button. A loud “awooooooo” echoed throughout the forest before the creature could even materialize, causing the hair on the back of Hugo’s neck to stand on end. Houndoom appeared next to Hugo, the hellhound panting heavily and rubbing her horns against her trainer. Hugo affectionately stroked the fur atop the Dark Pokemon’s head which she greatly appreciated, but snarled viciously as soon she caught sight of Archie.

“Stop. Stop!” Hugo commanded. “He is a friend. Relax.” Houndoom ended the growling, but continue to eye Archie with suspicion and malice. Hugo held his bunch of sticks in front of Houndoom.

“Alright, girl! Fire Fang!”

Houndoom latched down on the bundle causing them to ignite instantly. Hugo and Houndooom playfully engaged in tug-o-war for a few moments, before Hugo pulled the torch away and lit Archie’s torch. Houndoom growled with displeasure.

“This should suffice,” Hugo said to Archie. “What’s next?”

As the small team approached guild and Kawaii's heart sped up a slight bit.[/color]

As you approached the guild you noted how the light seemed to be brighter around here, it wrapped around the trees, setting a calming mood. Though Porco Rosso didn't seem to notice this mood, and he continued to charge.

You and your little possie got closer and closer to the open door archway of the Guild of Breeders, you saw that the arches had pokemon imprinted on them, too many for you to make out what they were. At least for now. Maybe you will take a closer look when the time allows it.

You entered the Guild, and as soon as you had, a woman walked over to you.
This woman looked to be in her mid-thirties, dressed in what appeared to be Native American style clothing, but yet it seemed more modern as she got closer and closer to you.

Oh! She was wearing jeans and a tee shirt, but the vest she had on over them was what looks native American, well, that and how she looked.
Maybe she was full native American... you don't quite know.
Though she did have feathers woven into her braids, and her hair, it was midnight black.

"Hello there little lady, and welcome to the Breeders Guild," said the woman, who towered over you by at least a foot or so. Tall for a woman.

"My name's Krelia, well actually that's what its shortened to, it is actually..."
She spoke the name, the words flowing off her tongue and her name was indeed long, so long in fact that you could only probably pronounce Krelia.

" Such a long name, hardly anyone can pronounce it, at least around here.
Anyhow my little deary, what's your name and the name of your pokemon?"

Krelia bent down to pet the spoink bouncing a little less as he was to busy staring at the woman petting him.
Frank, drifted closer to her, and well, looked like he was actually finding Krelia interesting.

What will you say? What will you do?

Elekid frowned at the sight of Charlotte clinging to Tama's wrist and then scuttling up his arm to perch herself on the boy's shoulder. Who did she think she was? He was the only Electric-Type Tama would ever need, nobody invited the spider along...

Tama, meanwhile, seemed amused. The Joltik was pretty much a living compass, and it was admittedly a great idea by the Hunters Guild to provide this kind of utility Pokemon.

"Come on guys, let's go beat up some rats like the champs we are!"

Totodile and Elekid bumped fists, ready to rock. Rowlet simply nodded, perched atop the boy's head, but even the serious owl couldn't fight back a smile; Tama's enthusiasm was contagious.

The journey towards the village wasn't exactly easy, despite Charlotte doing a remarkable job of guiding them (Elekid, meanwhile, telling himself that could have done it himself if anyone had asked). The taiga was like a maze, even with the Joltik's direction, and despite Tama's usual confidence, he still knew it was better to avoid unnecessary confrontations with the local wild Pokemon - first because it would only tire out his companions before they reached their destination, and second because there was nobody around to watch him win.

After a couple of hours, however, the village finally came into view. Charlotte's excitement told Tama that was exactly where they needed to be. Local inhabitants, known as Sirunsan, went about their daily lives, occupied with their boring routines. Now the question was how to approach this...

Come on, there is no question. I'm the hero these people need!

Boldly, Tama walked towards the center of the village with Totodile, Elekid, Rowlet and Charlotte in tow. He approached the biggest group of people he could find and raised his voice to make sure they noticed him.

"Hello everyone, my name is Tama Kalua of the Hunters Guild! I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick Rattata ass… and I'm all out of bubblegum!"

He'd always wanted to say that.

King Ghidorah- You release your Houndoom from its Pokeball, the Fire type would have no problem creating a couple of torches for you to use and would certainly come in handy should you come up against any wild Pokemon. Archie watches patiently, his eyes transfixed on the Houndoom. A quick Fire Fang is all that is needed to ignite the couple of branches you gather and before you know it you have a pair of crackling torches. Handing one to Archie, the young Sirunsan boy thanks you before presenting his idea.

"The Sawsbuck tend to reside a bit deeper in the Wrath. They often shed their horns while rutting, it'll be much easier to recover some shed horns rather than remove them from a live Sawsbuck. They trouble will be finding them under the snow. Shiny Spinarak tend to weave their webs in the branches of the white trees, however the white trees a few and far between, their exact location has pretty much proved impossible to lock down. We can start with either one, the choice is yours, perhaps some of your Pokemon's skills will aid us in finding what we need." Archie pulls his cloak tighter around him. "You should know that the deeper we go into the Wrath, the more powerful the Bittercold will grow. There may even be a point when your Fire typed Houndoom struggles to survive. I'd advise you think carefully before using another Pokemon, you only get to use two after all." Archie made an excellent point, being limited to two Pokemon certainly made things more difficult....

Maskerade- Rushing into the village, you announce yourself to everyone, their hero was finally here! The Sirunsan all look at you strangely, staring for a moment before returning to there work. This was far from a hero's welcome. You look around, waiting for someone to come up and praise you, or at least point you in the direction of the problem, but it doesn't seem like anyone is interested in you. That is until a large, brute of a man, stomps out from a building, ducking to prevent taking his own head off. He stomps a few metres away from you, he glares down at you like he would his breakfast. He booms something in his native tongue, it makes no sense to you, complete nonsense. However a small boy, roughly the same size as you, steps out from behind the Goliath.

"He said small children shouldn't play out here, it is dangerous. Return to your parents before he forces you to." The boy's English is rough and he often stumbles, but he gives a pretty good translation. The towering figure waits a moment for your reply. Would he physically force you to leave the village or would he have a Pokemon do it for him? Either way it seemed you weren't welcome here.

"Challenge him to a battle", the kid whispers. "It is our custom, fight bravely and you'll be welcomed into the village." The giant of a man glares down at the boy, he couldn't understand what he was saying but he didn't like the idea of him giving you advice.

After a bit of time, I'm here to bring Big and Lit under my wing in the Cradle. Excuse any errors or discrepancies, being in a depressive funk kinda bit at my creativity a fair chunk, but we'll roll with what we can offer.

bigggg5: Your arrival to the Cradle from lands and times unknown was impromptu and unexpected, yet the heat beating down on you is certainly something you confirm as a real thing. Getting your bearings, you find yourself in a vast savannah, and on confirming your location as conveniently being the mausoleum you have heard of, your immediate focus is on staving off heatstroke with the support of your Marill companion, who agrees with your detest of the temperature and sprays forth a cooling mist of water around you. With the sun no longer an immediate threat, you take a look around the approach to the Mausoleum of Giants, your goal in mind being to find and procure a fossil pokemon of sorts.

Wandering a short way, your eyesight is drawn towards a few small cabins erected ramshackled near some large marble rocks, and as you approach you realise three interesting facts. One, those cabins are occupied, judging by the movement within. Two, those marble rocks are actually a pair of enormous bones, baked by the searing sun into a substance not like rock. And three?

Just beyond the bone spires lies an immense plain littered with countless bone spires like the ones beside you, like blades of grass on a field. Each one is weathered and dry, and some of them are certainly too large to come from any pokemon. As Wake sprays the pair of you once more, you hear a voice calling to you from the cabins, as a figure appears at the doorway of one of them. Said figure is of a woman in her early forties, and she beckons for you to come. It would be rude of you to ignore her, and if you wanted information on a permit, perhaps she may know something.

Lil'twick: Melancholy is a mysterious thing. Wistful memories that make you feel satisfied yet sorrowful. While some may look at your past and treat you with scorn, you were known as one of the better ones, an outcast brought in with other outcasts as a great big dysfunctional yet happy family. Family. That was a strange word for someone who chose strangers over their own flesh and blood, but that was then. Now, you were alone. Well, not quite.

Gazing up at the stars in the night sky, you were one who sought adventure, to strike out on your own as an individual, and to develop your own skills. Your meandering through the forest somehow brought you here, to a clearing, yet as your eyes point towards the sky, the vision of some mystical plantlife evades you and as you unknowingly cross over the fairy ring, you feel as though the stars call out to you. As though you had sprouted wings, you find yourself almost weightless as your eyes fill with light and you instinctively close them, rubbing them to try and restore something resembling sight.

When you open them once more, you find the trees around you have changed. No longer the brown of natural oak, instead the bark appears blue, as does the grass beneath you, glistening like prisms whenever you turn your head at an angle. The air itself seems sweet, and as you take a breath, you return to looking at the stars above you, and are taken by surprise at just how many there are and in so many colours too! The feeling of weightlessness returns, and you feel as though you would be pulled up into the heavens themselves, but would you be willing to give into the urge to leap up, or do you wish to have a closer look at your mysterious surroundings?

"You're the least hairy Slaking I've ever seen," retorted Tama in the giant's face, pretending not to be intimidated, with all the courage of a boy who knows he won't be understood. "I'd tell you to pick on someone your own size, but Slaking are pretty rare in the wild..."

Rowlet pecked Tama on the ear, urging him to stop being an idiot before they were all pummeled to death.

"Ouch! Jeez Rowlet, you're no fun," complained the self-proclaimed Shining Star of Alola. "You're sitting this one out as punishment."

The owl did his best to try and look upset, and took flight away from the scene, surveying it from above at a safe distance. The last thing he wanted was to pick a fight with whatever Pokemon that mountain of a man had on him, but why let Tama know? Best pretend to be disappointed and let someone else handle this mess... Rowlet knew Tama's other companions would be eager to throw fists like idiots.

"Alright meathead, if you want me to prove myself, you got it! I'm challenging you to a battle, so try to keep up! Get in there, Totodile!"

The small alligator leaped in excitement and ran in front of Tama, assuming his battle position, but not before sticking his tongue out at Elekid, who was less than happy about not having been chosen. Between Totodile getting to fight instead of him, and that stupid Joltik taking his place as scout, today was not going well for Elekid at all...

Hugo pondered Archie’s words carefully. As he weighed his options, he looked at Houndoom. She seemed eager to participate in the Wrath, fully in her element. Her natural typing kept her warm, and the opportunity to search and track these creatures in a dark forest? What hell hound wouldn’t love that?

“I am confident in Houndoom,” Hugo said to Archie, patting Houndoom’s back as she panted eagerly. “Of all my Pokemon, I feel that she may be best suited for this. And clearly she wants to do it. We will be careful though. Losing her is not an option.”

As he spoke, Houndoom began sleuthing for odors at his feet. She was taking in all the unfamiliar scents. Seeing that made Hugo’s next decision all the easier.

“I think we need to go after the Sawsbuck horns first. Houndoom can help us track them and detect anything hidden on the ground. Right?” Houndoom’s pointed tail wagged quickly in the bitter cold wind, small flames shot from her nostrils in anticipation.

“Looks like the decision has been made,” Hugo responded. A sudden feeling of dread washed over him. Was he being too presumptuous? Sure, Houndoom seems like the best fit, but was he overlooking something? Was he really putting her at some kind of risk? And what would happen if something did happen to her? He would never forgive himself. Then again, he probably wouldn’t survive long enough to not forgive himself. Either way, it was too late to do anything now. He can only use two Pokemon, and he’s already committed to one. He’d have to make this work.

“Alright, expert,” he said to Archie. “The Sawsbuck. Let’s find them.”

Maskerade- You gladly accept the challenge of the fight, sledging the hulking Sirunsan warrior with words you are certain he doesn't understand. However there is one word that the brute seems to recognise, his eyes light up as the word Slaking slips from your lips.

"You want Slaking?" He lets out a booming laugh as he then begins to beat on his chest, much like the Slaking you had compared him to. Moments later a similar sound rings out in reply, the sound is quickly followed by tremors, the ground was shaking! It seemed your sharp tongue had landed you in trouble, as a rather large Slaking drags itself between two huts, barely managing to fit through the gap. Dragging itself on its knuckles, the Slaking comes to a stop beside its companion, now seeing them side by side you realise just how accurate your quip was. The pair shared a striking resemblance, however you notice that the Slaking seems to be missing an eye, its left eye is closed over, a long pink scar cuts through the skin.

"Why did you have to say Slaking?" The boy chimes, "no challenger has ever beaten his Slaking." Just because no challenger had beaten it, didn't mean that it wasn't possible though. You notice a fire burning in your Totodile's eyes, it seems the size of his adversary hasn't managed to quash his fighting spirit.

"Time for battle", slurs the brutish warrior, "Slaking, Bulk Up then Body Slam."

Slaaaaaaaaking

The Slaking rears back onto its legs, flexing as its muscles swell, increasing its attack and defence. Totodile would have his hands full, you'd have to think carefully if you were going to overcome this monumental challenge.

King Ghidorah- After some deliberating, you decide the best option moving forward was to get your Houndoom to sniff out a lead on the Sawsbuck horns. You and Archie follow closely as the Houndoom sniffs around the ground, occasionally exhaling a bit of fire to melt the snow, revealing the earth below. Most of what she finds is worthless to your cause, just odd rocks and other objects.

Your Houndoom leads you deeper into the Wrath, at one point it feels like the temperature begins to drop and the snow seems to get deeper. Was this what Archie had mentioned earlier? Had you progressed to the next level of the Winter's Wrath? If things kept getting colder, it wouldn't be long before you were walking icicles. Houndoom seems to be having trouble picking up scents here, the deeper snow seems to be limiting the odours she can smell. You continue to walk aimlessly through the trees, perhaps you'd get lucky and stumble upon some Sawsbuck antlers by chance? Yeah that wasn't happening.....

Suddenly Houndoom perks up and rushes to a nearby tree. She sniffs around it, circling the tree continuously. You and Archie approach to get a closer look and it doesn't take long for Archie to realise why the Fire type is excited. "Take a look at this Hugo", Archie points out the deep gores in the bark, there was only one like source. "I've seen these marks before, these are the marks Sawsbuck leave when they are sharpening their antlers. This is the spot where we will find them, now we just have to locate them beneath the snow somehow, any ideas?
