How rare do you think Mega Stones are or should be? (Let's try to keep the discussion to in-universe answers, please.)

I'd say Mega Stones would be fairly hard to come across. Rare and hard to find, but not impossible, especially once the concept of Mega Evolution becomes more common knowledge in Fizzytopia.

Spoiler: show
Mega evolution doesn’t exist yet in the world of FB. How do you see its introduction being handled?

Well, in free RP as it stands, I've been treating it as though it was only ever known in the Kalos region, and reports of Mega Evolution were just beginning to reach Fizzytopia, maybe conveniently coinciding with the discovery of Mega Stones in Fizzytopia. In particular, I handle the knowledge of the existence of Mega Evolution as being revealed to Keith and his Pokémon by way of Chuck, my Gengar, who at the moment merely refers to it as some new kind of evolution. Chuck spent the eight years between his death and his being reborn as a Gastly exploring the spirit world and learning all sorts of secrets, so I don't see it as too Farfetch'd that he'd have picked up some knowledge of Mega Evolution along the way. But for its introduction to the Fizzytopia region as a whole, I could see it being maybe due to people starting to come across Mega Stones on their travels, and as scientists research them, they come across the reports about Mega Evolution from Kalos, something along those lines. Could even be worked into some sort of thread where each member can collect a Key Stone (and possibly have their own Key Stone holding item be fashioned, as I mentioned previously, like my Mega Hat), and as a special treat to commemorate the opening, each member would also get to collect 1 Mega Stone of their choice, for a limited time only, of course. Not unlike how Ball Capsules and Seals were introduced to the CfP, and we had a limited window to collect a free Seal Case, six-pack of Ball Capsules, and a set of Seals of our choice.

Lucarionite takes priority since Mazo is my strongest and somewhat of my signature Pokemon.

Charizardite X one day, if the stars align, and finally Metagrossite are the ones yo follow. Not to say I'm not interested in others, but as far as actively seeking them, these are it.

Key Stone will be going in a black glove.

I only have one Pokémon who could mega evolve right this second, and that's Audino. I have a couple of others who could mega evolve if they were to normal evolve first, like Torchic, Onix, and Snover, but either:
  1. I don't know if I want them to ever evolve (e.g. Torchic)
  2. I don't want to rush the evolution (e.g. Onix)
  3. I'm not super attached to the creature and may only have it because "it makes sense for Cyrus to have it," which doesn't sit too well with me anyway (e.g. Snover)
While I like my Audino and I also like Mega Audino, I feel like a mega makes the most sense for someone's signature Pokémon. That's especially true in the video games and the anime, where they make it seem like it's one mega per trainer except for the protagonist. Diantha only has Mega Gardevoir even though she's presumably kind and loving to her entire team. Same with Korrina and Lucario. Same with Alain and Charizard. Same (as far as we know) with Lysandre, though it's still weird to me that his mega is Mega Gyarados instead of the missing Mega Pyroar. (But whatever. Stuff that will probably be rectified in Pokémon Z!) So like ... I can understand the desire by most FBers to say, "I'M ASH! I'M ASH!" or "I'M CALEM/SERENA! I'M CALEM/SERENA!" when it comes to mega evolution and arguing for their ability to have 2+ megas on their team. After all, no one buys the argument that Greninja and Ash have the tighest bond of all Ash's Pokémon so it's not like, even if he does wind up getting a Mega Greninja, the fandom is going to accept that he can't also have access to Mega Charizard and others. But like ... I just feel like mega evolution really shouldn't be something in FB that is a "GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL! " kind of thing. I mean, it's okay if you want to collect all of the mega stones! But I'm talking the actual using them. Using them, I just feel like if I'm going to use a mega stone to mega evolve a Pokémon on my team, then it's going to have to be a Pokémon that has the tighest bond with Cyrus. So like ...
  • Celes (Chikorita, starter) is the obvious forerunner, but that isn't happening until a) she becomes a Meganium and b) Game Freak codes Mega Meganium
  • a Pokémon like Mankey would be a good contender (once he becomes a Primeape and once Cyrus bonds with him a lot more, as planned), but there isn't likely to be a Mega Primeape any time soon
  • a Pokémon like Plum (Minccino) is another good contender, being one of Cyrus's oldest team members, but again, I don't see Mega Cinccino happening any time soon
  • and as for Audino, Snover, and the others Cyrus has who do have access to mega stones, I'm not sure how much sense it makes for them to be the mega evolvers on his team when they're really more like the support squad
My image for the Audino on my team is as the team medic. She isn't the star, far from it. She sits on the sidelines and is a portable Nurse Joy. If my character were a traveling doctor, it would make perfect sense for his mega to be Mega Audino. But he's not. So like ... while I like Mega Audino personally, and I won't say no to collecting the stone, does it really make sense for me to use it? I don't know.

I think I'm in the FB minority here. I didn't like the proposal that key stones be super easy to come by. I thought it'd make better sense to have mega stones be something you occasionally come across either a) in zones or else b) via events, and to have the key stones be the accessory that is really quite difficult to come by and has to be earned via RPing. But it looks like we're going in the opposite direction and making key stones super, super easy to come by, so ...

I'm not sure what ornament/decoration/clothing article I want the key stone to be yet, but I like the idea of it being made of amber since that suits Cyrus's affinity for plant life. Though maybe that's a little too dark now that I overthink it? haha What with sap being "tree blood" and whatnot, does that not make amber "petrified tree blood"? Having one's key stone be made of blood seems more up Marion Ette's avenue than mine. So I dunno. I think I'm just overthinking it , and should go with amber because amber is totally innocuous IRL and has the clearest connection with plants of any of the gemstones we usually think about.

Didn't know you planned on evolving Celes, Talon! If that's the case, hopefully you'll do it all the way to Meganium (from an entirely personal, and therefore irrelevant, point of view :P) - the anime's made me hate Bayleef enough (that decision might've been the driving force that made me stop watching, come to think of it!).

More on-topic, Mega Gallade might be one of the best-designed Megas in my view; shame Levin's Gallade is the farthest thing from an enthusiastic fighter. Can't see his ever embracing Mega Evolution, but maybe some future character development will lead in that direction.

Well, it depends on what your idea of "planned" is.

First: I haven't committed to the idea. It's something I've considered since registration, but:
  • 2007-2008: I decided I was 100% against it
  • 2012 onward: I decided (what I'm about to say next)
Second: I decided in 2012/2013 that if I were going to evolve Celes, then it would have to be ONLY AFTER she'd had extensive RP experiences in her various forms. So like ...
  • six to eight zone adventures or event adventures as a Chikorita
  • four to six zone adventures or event adventures as a Bayleef
Only then would I be comfortable evolving her into a Meganium.

At the end of the day, it's that tug of war between:
  • Chikorita is the best stage of the line, hands down
  • but as a trainer we're all about fostering our Pokémon's growth, and like ... you wouldn't go out of your way to keep a human as a baby forever either, would you? O_o
So I dunno. *shrug*

Lucky for me, while I like Chikorita best of the line, I don't dislike Meganium. (Bayleef's definitely the weakest stage of the group, I agree.) I'm less fortunate with my Torchic. Torchic for me is like Chikorita all over again only this time I don't get to like the final stage either. So I reaaaally would rather keep Torchic as a Torchic. But *sigh*, see same arguments about human babies above.

Nothing wrong with not wanting to evolve some of your Pokémon. I myself have several Pokémon unwilling to evolve for various reasons.
  • Pomona, my Ivysaur, refuses to evolve into Venusaur because she believes that a Venusaur would be too big to play games with her friends, and not as cute as an Ivysaur- she's gonna be my Cute Contest star and also tends to make use of her cuteness in battle, through moves like Charm and Attract. Also, I'm not crazy about the seed that pokes out of a Venusaur's flower for some reason.
  • Meowth refuses to evolve because his idol is the Team Rocket Meowth, who also refuses to evolve. Also, I've established in free RP that if Meowth ever were to evolve, he'd lose his ability to speak human language, which he doesn't want to happen.
  • Hermione, my Weedle, refuses to evolve into Kakuna because she wants to prove that a Weedle is just as capable in battle as any Beedrill. Also because Weedle have an extremely acute sense of smell which Kakuna and Beedrill are not known to have, and it's come in handy in zones on more than one occasion. Not to mention, I've wanted an unevolving Weedle with a kick-ass movepool since first joining FB.
  • Millicent, my Timburr, refuses to evolve for two reasons. One, she believes that the decidedly masculine appearance of her evolution line was a contributing factor in nobody other than me wanting her, and she considers herself lucky that the idea of a female Timburr didn't weird Keith out (though ever since I helped Raves evolve his Gurdurr, she's been rethinking this one). And two, Willow, the ghost who lives in Millicent's wooden beam, is the ghost of a Leavanny- out of a wooden beam, a metal girder, or two pillars of concrete, she'd greatly prefer to inhabit a wooden beam, and she and Millicent are like sisters.
  • Ginny, my Pawniard, refuses to evolve into Bisharp because she believes herself more maneuverable in the smaller form of a Pawniard, and also believes that as a Pawniard, she'd be more able to get enemies to let their guard down. Sneaky and underhanded, yes, but what can I say? She's a Dark-type.
  • Vinny, my Numel, will most likely refuse to evolve into Camerupt because doing so would mean he loses the Simple Ability. And Vinny's no dummy- he knows just how great an Ability Simple is, he's already learned a bunch of moves to take advantage of such an Ability. That said, I'm still thinking about this one- I like the idea of a Mega Camerupt wearing Vinny's fedora...

So, more on-topic, I'll just post these sprites here that I whipped up for when we can buy Mega Stones and Key Stones and get them made into accessories. Already posted them in the main TO thread, but this is the appropriate thread, so yeah.

The irony when mega stones have been around in pokemon lore for (maybe) 3000 years and their price is 3000 dollars. Then again, in cons that's about the same as the old evolution items like Reaper Cloths and whatnot.

Given I'll be requiring 3 for my team so far (and more given Alex will be specialising in megas) I'm gonna be pretty pained in terms of funding.

That sound you hear is the sound of Venomoth flying out my wallet at that revelation, what with mega stone prices. I'm honestly that broke if I get a mega stone.

As you may or may not have already seen, I've posted to purchase a Gengarite. I was considering Cameruptite and Banettite as well, but in the end, I decided I wanted to prioritize Mega Stones for my Poison-types, meaning after this one, Venusaurite is next.

Nice MM, can't wait to get to the point where I can get Megastones. Will most likely go for Gardevoirite, but it all is dependant on time.

So once the Bank gets its next update, I'll be able to afford my second Mega Stone for the year. I did want it to be Venusaurite, but, well, Vinny's evolved since then, so now there's Cameruptite to consider... And then there's Slowbronite, too- I do want Dudley to be able to Mega Evolve, he's my only Shiny capable of Mega Evolution. At least until we get Mega Beautifly, anyway. But yeah- I gotta think about this, I'm pretty torn on which Mega Stone to go for next.

Do you like Mega Evolution? Yes

Do you want a Mega Stone in FB? Yes

If yes, which Mega Stone(s) would you most like to have? Slowbronite

Under what circumstances would you use a Mega Stone in FB? In a tough battle versus a tough opponent who isn't expecting it.

How rare do you think Mega Stones are or should be? They should be rather rare, but in the games, they're not that rare, so maybe there's 2% to come across a Megastone per adventure post?

What are your thoughts on FB custom Mega Stones?
That'd be awesome!!!!!!

I'd really really like a Garchompite, but for some reason, buying it feels wrong. I want to earn it, and find it in-game.

Mega Stones haven't been purchasable in a good few years at this point, so there's no need to be worried about that. This thread was made during the previous era in FB's history, when Zone progress was so slow that buying them was really the only viable way to get ahold of Mega Stones at all, and is consequently behind the times by an absurd margin.
