Looking a little hairy there, but I think we should be fine. Gonna drop another Max Lightning off Thunderbolt (90 BP) to shatter the last two shields.

A powerful Sludge Bomb blasting the Elgyem... a forceful Max Flutterby bombarding the Pumpkasaur and weakening all present... Keith exhaled as the latest volley of attacks concluded. Brighton was still standing, still in this.
The Chinchou winced, panting as he felt the damage he'd taken, the hit his stats had taken, felt the poison wreaking havoc on him yet again. It was no surprise to him that this was a tough fight- Qwilfish were powerful Pokémon. With one being his father, how could Brighton not know this? "Brighton?" Keith called. "Are you still good to go?" "Chou! Chinchou!" Brighton called back, nodding determinedly, not taking his plus-shaped pupils off of the Qwilfish for a second. He would not go down so easily. And with the Pumpkasaur's efforts destroying the shield once and for all, this left the Balloon Pokémon completely open to attack. Brighton's lures crackled with electricity- he knew what he was gonna do here, even if Keith wasn't thinking to order it just yet. Indeed, Keith had been thinking of digging through his bag, trying to maybe find some sort of medicinal item that could heal up Brighton. But he stopped himself as he saw the Chinchou- Brighton knew better than any of them, the way forward was to attack, attack, attack! To hammer away at that Qwilfish with no letup at all! Keith took a deep breath and let it out, exchanging looks with the Qwilfish in his hand. Hebenon looked at Keith, giving a slight nod- he for one was agreeing with his son here. And Keith nodded back, likewise in agreement, before turning back to his Chinchou. "It's all you, then, Brighton!" he called. "Light it up! Thunderbolt!" "CHIIIIIIIN CHOOOOOOOOOOU!" Brighton bellowed, once more letting loose a blast of electricity that would surely react with the Electric Terrain for even greater damage, possibly even enough to offset the Special Attack drop the Chinchou had unfortunately suffered. It wasn't as though physical attacks would serve him much better anyway, not in this situation. OOC: Brighton used Thunderbolt (90 BP; boosted by Electric Terrain). |

Dynamax Boss Qwilfish ★★★ Health Gauge: 24% Shields Up: 0 Status: [Def -1, Sp.Def -1, Leech Seed (Pumpkasaur), Electric Terrain (3 Turns Left)] Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Venoshock (65 BP) CCK, Elgyem: 0 HPAttack 2: Acid Spray (40 BP) Raves, Pumpkasaur: 354 HPRaid Challengers:
While the motionless Elgyem watched as a devastating Venoshock rendered it unconscious once again, the Qwilfish was growing increasingly desperate. However, things were looking dire for the trainers as well, as the dark clouds swirling over the Power Spot were becoming increasingly vicious. Any more Pokemon to bow out of the fight would surely cause the winds to turn insurmountable. Dynamax Initiative: Raves, Pumpkasaur

"What are you doing?!" Keith was shouting. "Give Elgyem a command!"
"Fish fish Qwilfish!!" Hebenon was shouting as well, having slightly inflated, incensed that one of their allies was failing to give an order. Everyone else had landed their attack, and Qwilfish was gearing up for more attacks, but Danny Ecclestone, the Elgyem's Trainer, had chosen a particularly bad moment to, for whatever reason, not give his Elgyem an order. Had he frozen up out of nerves? Was the awesome might of a Qwilfish more than he could fathom? They may never know. But regardless, it meant they were one move short this time around, and Qwilfish ensured this would continue to be the case, blasting Elgyem with a horrifyingly strong Venoshock, knocking the Psychic-type clean out. Keith tensed up as it then began the makings of an Acid Spray, but to his relief, it instead hit the Pumpkasaur, who took it fairly well, albeit at the cost of some Special Defense. Brighton was shuddering. Things were looking grim- the dark clouds overhead, the swirling winds, they intensified every time Qwilfish knocked out a Pokémon. How exactly he knew it he couldn't say, but Keith knew- all it'd take was one more defeated Pokémon, and this strange storm would blast them all away. And Brighton seemed to be getting that as well. With all things considered, the Chinchou was finding it quite tempting to call it quits, but he refused to entertain such a notion. Call it determination, call it stubbornness... whatever it was, it was firmly rooted in the Chinchou's mind, and it was with that being the case that he absolutely refused to give up. And Keith knew this would be the case, too. Brighton, son of Hebenon, turn tail and flee from a threatening enemy? Nah. No way. Hebenon swelled with pride (quite literally) as he looked on at his son, still standing (swimming?) strong in the face of the massive Qwilfish who stood poised and ready to potentially claim victory. They would either emerge triumphant or go down swinging- no two ways about it. The poison continued its savage work, but Brighton barely even winced. Its damage was unmistakable, but he hardly acknowledged it. He'd prove how far he'd come. He'd prove he wasn't weak, that he was strong like his parents. And he'd prove it right here, right now, against one of the most powerful species of Pokémon he'd ever known! Despite everything that could conceivably go wrong here, Keith grinned, turned his Mega Hat backwards, a gesture that confirmed that shit was getting serious. "OK, Brighton- give it a Thunderbolt!" Keith declared. "Shut it down!!" "CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN... CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUU!!!" Brighton screamed, his lures glowing brightly, crackling with electricity, while seeming to also pulse with purple light, a reminder of the poison in Brighton's system, as the Chinchou let loose quite possibly his biggest and best Thunderbolt yet. OOC: Brighton used Thunderbolt (90 BP; powered up by Electric Terrain). |

Unable to afford even a single more casualty, the trainers focused all of their efforts on keeping the Chinchou on its fins. A powerful Max Overgrowth caused the electrified terrain to subside while the rejuvenating power of the earth seeped out of the ground in its place. Angry and desperate, the Qwilfish unleashes a torrent of toxic attacks, hoping to take one of the Pokemon down with it, but the trainers’ medical actions proved effective. Pumpkasaur shrunk back down to its original size. Dynamax Initiative: Raves, Pumpkasaur

Keith would be lying if he said he wasn't nervous at this point. Brighton was landing a powerful hit on the Qwilfish, but at this rate, one good Venoshock and he'd be out of commission, and the entire group out of hope. He had no choice but to keep hoping and praying that their efforts this time around would be sufficient to finish the job. A Max Overgrowth from the Pumpkasaur instead of more Max Lightning... was that a better move? Was the Max Overgrow's base move a physical move like Power Whip? Keith did see said Pumpkasaur using Swords Dance earlier... Keith tried to do some quick math in his head; the resultant headache stopped him almost immediately. But one fact stuck out to him regardless; surely- surely- the loss of the Electric Terrain would hamper them, considering Lapras still hadn't attacked yet? Indeed, even as this occurred to Keith, he saw the Lapras crackling with electricity, charging up a Thunderbolt of its own, and letting it loose...
...right at Brighton? Keith's eyes widened. This had happened earlier in the match- Lapras and its Trainer took advantage of Brighton's Volt Absorb, spending a turn on firing off a Thunderbolt at the Chinchou to heal him up. And not only that- Danny, otherwise unable to act while his Elgyem was recuperating in its ball, let loose a concentrated bundle of Dynamax Energy, also directed right at Brighton. A hopeful, relieved grin broke out across Keith's face- Brighton was looking good as new, save for the poisoning! A few tears of emotion ran down Keith's face, grateful beyond words that his allies had worked together to heal up his little Chinchou. The Chinchou was looking as though he could take whatever that Qwilfish dished out now, and while that did not include the Venoshock that mercifully targeted Pumpkasaur, it very much included the forceful Sludge Wave that swamped them all. But Brighton, the spunky little fish, took it like the champ that he was. "Qwil! Fish! Qwil! Fish!" Hebenon was chanting. There was no more doubt- this was doable, doable now, and doable by Hebenon's boy. And Brighton knew it, too. His lures crackling with electricity and pulsing a weird purple light thanks to the prolonged presence of poison, he called back. "Chou! Chinchou!" he exclaimed urgently, keeping his eyes on the opposing Qwilfish all the while. Keith nodded, adjusting the brim of his still-backwards Mega Hat while the Pumpkasaur was readying a Power Whip- no doubt the base move of the earlier Max Overgrowth! "This time for sure, then, Brighton!" Keith declared. "Give it a Thunderbolt! Shut it down!!" "CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN..." Brighton exclaimed, building up massive amounts of power in his lures. "...CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!!!!" he bellowed, letting it all loose at once, a massive electrical blast that would undoubtedly render the Qwilfish extra-crispy. OOC: Brighton used Thunderbolt (90 BP). Last edited by Missingno. Master; 05-19-2020 at 04:41 PM. Reason: Minor grammatical fix. |

Dynamax Boss Qwilfish ★★★ Health Gauge: 0% Shields Up: 0 Status: [N/A] With the Qwilfish tottering on the brink, the trainers and their Pokemon unleashed hell upon it. Unable to withstand any more damage, the overinflated pufferfish burst like a balloon and shrank back down to its normal size as it sunk back down into the depths of the blue hole. Congratulating them on their victory, Gary handed out a number of rewards to the participating trainers. For their efforts in defeating the Dynamax Raid Boss Qwilfish, the trainers are awarded the following:

"QWIL FISH FISH!" Hebenon cheered. "Chou... Chinchou..." Brighton panted. For a moment, it almost didn't seem real that he, Brighton, had seriously played a role in the defeat of such a monstrous and formidable foe. Still staring straight ahead, the Chinchou slowly sank down into the water himself, the light from his lures now flickering intermittently between yellow and purple, for the poisoning was still present. "Ha haa, Brighton, you did it! You- you... you did... Brighton?" Keith said, his smile fading somewhat as he realized his Chinchou was nowhere to be seen. This, however, did not last. A brilliant flash of vibrant purple light erupted from the sea before Keith, his mouth falling open at the sight. Its source couldn't be seen at that moment, and the light persisted for maybe half a minute before dying down. But it was what happened afterwards that Keith was truly in awe at; with a great splash, a triumphant-looking breached the surface! "Laaaan! Laaaaan!" he exclaimed happily, his lures consistently emitting purple light, leaving Keith in no doubt- Brighton had just evolved! Rendered speechless by this development, Keith mutely held out his Pokédex. "Lanturn, the Light Pokémon. A Water and Electric-type, and the evolved form of Chinchou," droned the device. "Lanturn emits such bright light that it can dive down as deep as three miles and still illuminate the sea's surface. It produces light by causing a chemical reaction between bacteria and its bodily fluids inside its antenna." "Haha, wow," Keith grinned as Brighton swam up to him. "Purple light now, huh? I guess now that poison's really working for you, huh?" "Laaan, laaaan," replied Brighton happily. He didn't seem to be in pain from the earlier poisoning anymore, and his lures shone brightly. Hebenon was quick to jump out of Keith's hand, landing in the water beside his newly-evolved son, and words alone seemed inadequate to express his immense feelings of pride. Brighton happily hugged his father (avoiding the spikes was second nature to him, of course), and Keith allowed them a few moments of family time before reminding them that they really should get home. *Obtained 20 Watts!* *Keith received a TR78 Sludge Wave!* *Obtained 2 Passho Berries!* *Obtained the Kebia Berry!* *Brighton was elevated to level 30!* *Brighton learned Signal Beam!* *Brighton learned Discharge!* Quote:
