You and your Pokemon knew it was time to get down to business. Despite this being your first journey together, you could feel that your Pokemon trusted you. Both Glasspine and Tori were ready for your next commands as you grabbed a handy plastic bag from your backpack. The Sandshrew focused its strength on its claws, striking them together to remove any debris that might dull its attacks or cause them to miss. He swiftly began swiping at the Parasect, striking it’s face four times in succession. The bug type hissed out in pain, but seemed to have a mischievous look on its face. A spore burst out of the mushroom on its back, landing directly in the face of Glasspine. The multiple hits from the Fury Swipes seemed to have activated the Parasect’s Effect Spore, leaving Glasspine paralyzed. Following your directions to recruit the remaining Roselia, your Nidorina bounded over to the group of grass types. They flinched as the large Pokemon towered over them, still covering their tiny faces. Delicately, Tori confided in the Roselia the plan to take down the Parasect. They seemed to be listening, and even lowered their hands to look at Tori directly. The Parasect watched from its battle with the Sandshrew, angry that you were conspiring against it. It called out to one of its subjects again, and a loyal Roselia ran forward to deliver a Poison Sting to Tori’s backside. She was barely affected by the Poison-type attack and, following orders, reeled to deliver a sharp Scratch across the Roselia’s body. Another horrified cry came from the three Roselia as their flowered friend crumbled to the ground. Their flowers returned to their faces and they shook in fear. Tori looked unsure of what to do about the group, but decided to move on to her next attack. She collected freezing cold air in her mouth, and blasted a sharp beam towards the Parasect. It was engaged in battle with Glasspine and didn’t notice the move flying towards it. Its claw was raised to strike him in his paralyzed state, but the Ice Beam got to it first, freezing its limb solid. With her target partly immobilized, Tori rushed over to deliver the first blow of beating the Parasect up. She looked expectantly towards the group of Roselia, who she assumed would be right behind her to assist with the attack. However, they had disappeared. As you sealed up the baggie containing the mushroom, there was a sensation against your leg, barely light enough for you to notice. You looked down to see one of the Roselia worriedly tapping you with one of its flowers. “Rose…Lia lia...!” It shook its head and pointed to the Roselia on the ground, struggling to stay conscious. It seemed to be pleading with you to stop. The other two Roselia had cautiously approached the hypnotized one and attempted to help it stand. Still under the influence of the angry Parasect, the Roselia pushed its companions away forcefully. The Roselia near you cried out, then looked back to you. It was unmistakable that it wanted help with the Parasect, but it seemed to be worried your higher level Pokemon were doing more harm than good. ------------------- Maskerade: You couldn’t help but keep your attention drawn to the dust cloud. The shrine door, although interesting, could wait. This sudden event piqued your interest, especially the fact that your mysterious Pokemon partner also seemed intrigued. You bravely took a step forward, but that bravery faded fast. What were you getting yourself into? You had no idea what this event, seemingly random, truly meant. The Staryu was unaffected, and tottered ahead, stopping momentarily when it noticed you weren’t following. This inspired you to keep going, and the two of you approached the area of interest with caution. You were glad you were wearing glasses. The dust that was being whipped up flew right towards you, tiny rocks pelting your face. As you got to the center of the vortex, the dust cleared. It seems you arrived in the eye of the dust storm. You took off your glasses to clear them of the dust, temporarily unable to focus on anything in front of you. You could see, however, the bright red light of your Staryu light up once more. As you readjusted the frames on your face, you noticed the Pokemon was prodding at a mound of dirt. Though it could probably clear the dirt away with some kind of attack, it seemed set on only using one of its five limbs to carefully push the dirt aside. You watched intently as it worked, wondering if you could discover something more about this strange Pokemon in order to bond closer with it. The light of the gem faded once again as it moved away from the now much smaller mound of dirt. A rolled-up scrap of paper lay in the middle of the mound, uncovered almost completely by Staryu. The Pokemon waited expectantly for a reaction, or maybe praise, for its discovery. |

Sypher headed to the restroom and ran a shower. He let the hot stream focus on his chest as he massaged it. Never the less a large pair of blue, egg-shaped marks developed that when touched still stung. He dried himself, and rifled through his bag retrieving his close and a bottle of aspirin. He nudged Julian trying to wake him from his slumber. The lemur stretched and wriggled into the light passing through the window before curling back-up. "Wake up, or else I'll let Jill use your helmet today!" Sypher taunted, nudging him again this time successfully. "Good, I left it in the kitchen go get it." Pass PAAASSHHH The trio moved into the main portion of the cabin, Sypher and Jill headed to the equipment that Madoka had left while Julian retrieved his headpiece. Securing the rope, pick and helmet to his pack, Sypher read the second note. "Scale a cliff or go into the cavern? Well I don't have a light source and given the bruising on my chest, this is kind of a tough choice. Well I guess we'll go see our options before deciding. That sound good to you Jill?" "NOOUUUUIII!!" she said in agreement. "Okay, Julian come on, we're leaving!" Sypher said as he walked to open the door. As the Passimian rushed out of the cabin the trio made for the shrine.

Brave Saix:
You were greeted by a bright, Sunny Day as you and your Pokemon stepped outside. The air was still and you could hear the chirping of Bird Pokemon nearby. You made your way up the wooden steps of the shrine and through the signature Torii gate, enjoying the ancient architecture. There were a couple of tourists praying at the shrine, who noticed you walking past and acknowledged you with a nod. Taking a right at the shrine, you walked along a gravel path lined with stone lanterns. It wasn’t too long of a walk before you arrived at the stones Madoka had told you to take note of. They were tall, pillar-like statues with engravings of the two Meteorite Pokemon. Lunatone’s singular eye was represented by a ruby embedded in the rock, while Solrock was dotted with yellow topaz. The gap between the stones wasn’t too wide, but you were able to slide yourself through by taking your backpack off and holding it in front of you. The other side opened up to a canyon-like area, with tall rocks surrounding you on each side. There was a forked path marked by a sign, “Starline Falls” to the right, and “Ishi Caverns” to the left. You continued on to the left, hoping that you’d arrive at your destination soon. Jill noticed the entrance to the cavern first, and flew to it as soon as she spotted it. She looked happy to have made the discovery, and peered into the depths. You could see that the cavern was lined with torches, providing a good amount of light to see quite some way down. At the end of your vision you spotted the outline of a mine cart. Julian seemed to want to get in on the excitement as well, and pointed your attention to the nearby cliff. It looked like others had been there before, with indents in the cliff face that could probably be used as hand and foot holds. At the very top, someone had left a metal peg that could probably hold a rope steady. The trial captain had told you both areas held the possibility of finding what you were looking for. The question was, where was the best place to start your search? |

--She'd appreciate the irony of that statement at another time. Right now, Seiko was dead set on retrieving her misbegotten goods. She propped the small seahorse atop her shoulder. "Baian, knock the wind out of that rascal with a Water Gun, then blanket the area in a screen of smoke. That's sure to foil any plans our culprit has of carrying on with their escape!" "Skre!" the Mock Kelp monster chimed in the affirmative, recoiling briefly before launching a jet of pressurized water rocketing into the flank of the Shinx, causing the cub to cry out. Bullseye! It hadn't quite stopped the thief as Seiko had hoped, but it allowed her and Aiolia the chance to close some of the distance that the Shinx had initially put between itself and their party. As soon as Baian could confirm the hit for himself, he hurried to comply with the rest of his trainer's orders. Within a matter of seconds, a murky shell of smoke whizzed past Seiko's ear, careening several yards before dispersing above and about the cub's location. Haha! Seiko beamed. Weren't expecting that now, eh? "Now Aiolia, get in there and Tackle the tarp free from that thing's clutches!" |

Before DeKlars could formulate a response, Muyo had returned his attention back to the battlefield. "While you're clearing your eyes things will look a bit blurry, but when you see it approach you hit it with a Flash to even the state a bit. Then spread out a Thunder Wave to slow down that pesky poulty. Finally follow it up with an Ice Punch Y.E., you've got this well under control." [/color]

Maybe I just ened to keep prodding it, pushing it to act? Who knows how knowledgeable this creature truly is? He knew he was getting ahead of himself and possibly setting himself up for disappointment down the line, but it was hard not to feel excited ath this sudden revelation. As a man of science, he needed all the help he could get in his research - and if Staryu turned out to be not only a profficient Psychic but intelligent at the same time, it could prove a most invaluable ally. The first impression was already positive, with it carefully unearthing quite the little surprise from beneath the sand with all the expertise of a veteran archaelogist. "How did you know it was there?... Well done Staryu, remarkable indeed!" It wasn't just the ample amount of studies published on the matter that made Rorik praise the Water-Type - on this particular instance, he didn't need literature to tell him he should be proud of his accidental partner. Dropping to one knee, his eyes glimmering with excitement, Professor Pine picked up the piece of paper and ever-so-carefully unrolled it, afraid it might crumble in his fingers but at the same time anxious to read its contents...

"You're a strong fighter, Heracross! I'd love for you to join me on my journey. I know you love tree sap - when I catch you, I'll take you out to get you all the most delicious tree sap you can eat!" Hiero smirked. He wasn't sure if the Heracross reciprocated - especially considering how he had interrupted the Pokemon's lunch, which he did feel bad about, but he was confident that it would be an excellent addition to his team, so he'd make sure to apologize formally and make up for it after all was said and done. "Tomoko. It's about time we wrap this up. I have a plan," Hiero motioned to the Mareanie. "I've finally determined Heracross' weak spot: its wings. Without them, it loses a large amount of its mobility. Jump above the Heracross, and then come down on its wings hard with a Peck! If you can, use a tentacle to latch onto its back, and then swing yourself around to its side with another hard Peck, and shove it against the tree!" Hiero twisted the Pokeball in his hand once more. "You've done well Tomoko. After you've attacked it as I've instructed, the poison will hopefully have weakened it enough by that point... and I'll throw this Pokeball!" |

Some of these adventures are getting interesting... enjoy :P
Patches: Patches was at a loss as she noticed the Stufful make a run for it. While Mio was still tied up battling the bully of a Pancham, she couldn’t possibly leave her Pikachu alone to fend for herself. She called out to Kei, who was also watching on helplessly, and asked for the Charmander to tail the cowardly teddy bear of a Pokemon. Kei nodded and darted off after the Stufful, ready to give it a big hug if it ever decided to stop running. With that matter taken care of for now, Patches could turn her full attention to Mio’s battle with the unrelenting Pancham. Mio looked at her trainer expectantly, eagerly anticipating a battle with Patches’ full support. However, what Patches did next no one was expecting. Rummaging through her bag, she looked long and hard for something that would aid Mio in combat against the Pancham. Once she came upon her solution, she pulled her hand out tightly clenched into a fist. Patches then suddenly released her grip, tossing a handful of confetti in Pancham’s direction. Mio and Pancham both stood there with their jaws dropped, completely speechless. Puzzled by the interjection, Mio and Pancham turned their focus back on each other. Determined to carry her partner’s share in the battle, Mio quickly came up with her own strategy. She began by Growling fiercely at the charging Pancham, deciding that the time to play nice was over. Pancham connected with an Arm Thrust, hitting Mio twice. Mio then followed the attack up with a Thunder Shock, jolting the Pancham a good amount before it hit her with another flurry of [b]Arm Thrusts[b] that hit her four times. Both Pokemon were quite out of breath now, and it looked as if another good attack or two might be able to cause the Pancham to drop. Meanwhile, Kei was last seen darting after the tiny Stufful, who was headed for a small cluster of trees. As he approached the trees, Kei had lost sight of the Stufful, but he knew that the scared critter couldn’t have gone far. The wooded area wasn’t too large, and as he traversed through it, he could hear some rustling noises up ahead. Deciding to investigate it, he spotted what looked like a shoddily-constructed wrestling ring with a pair of Mankeys sparring inside of it. Off to the side he spotted a grumpy looking Timburr, but was giving an earful to none other than Stufful, who was shaking in its fur. Dare he step in here, where he is outnumbered, or report back to Patches and Mio? Jerichi: Lucas was in a bit of a bind. While on one hand, he had found his first lead in the form of a flowerbed filled with Roselia and Budew. However, on the other hand he had no means of communicating with the flower Pokemon and nothing to win their favor. Trying his best to come up with a solution, Lucas called upon the services of Horologie, his Girafarig. The yellow and brown spotted giraffe-like Pokemon brayed in good tidings as she took in the beautiful surroundings. Calling her to attention, Lucas asked Horologie if she could attempt to communicate with the Roselia and ask them about the Budew he had found. The Girafarig nodded, promising to make her best attempt of it. Lowering her long neck in order to make eye contact with the flower Pokemon below, Horologie neighed a bit in order to investigate. Lucas watched on as some of the Roselia stood there with conceited expressions. Some of them crossed their rose petal-tipped arms in disdain while others simply turned up their noses. Upon noticing the unusual sight of a trainer using a giraffe to communicate with roses, a young woman with a bandana tying up her chestnut-colored hair, an apron covering her clothes, and a watering can in her hands approached Lucas. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t help but overhear you,” she greeted with a warm smile, “The Roselias don’t like answering to anyone other than their queen, unfortunately. My name’s Petunia, by the way. I’m a volunteer gardener here.” Relieved he found someone to communicate with, Lucas explained the situation to Petunia. “A poor Budew, not getting enough nutrition in the wrong flower bed, huh?” she asked, trying to make sense of the situation while tilting her head. “Unfortunately, this has happened before… Roserade, the ruler of this area of the garden is a bit of a perfectionist. If there’s any buds she thinks are imperfect or will ruin the beauty of her garden, she won’t hesitate to cast them out.” Petunia thought to herself for a moment. “The Sunflora are pretty protective of their young, so trying to remove the bud wouldn’t be the best idea either…” She paused again, deep in thought, before coming to a resolution. “I know! If you can get the Rose Incense from Roserade, you might be able to distract the Sunflora enough to rescue Budew! The incense has a powerful effect on grass type Pokemon so it should be able to do the job. The only problem might be trying to convince Roserade to let you borrow one…” With a goal laid out before him, it was now up to Lucas how he wanted to go about handling this task. Muyotwo: Despite a heated match versus a determined duck, Muyo kept his cool and offered words of encouragement to his Elekid. He knew that the type advantage was still well in Yon Elekid’s favor, and Kennegi would probably attempt to finish things off sooner rather than later. Deciding to shift his strategy to a battle of attrition, Muyo desired to slow the plucky duck down and called out his orders to Yon Elekid. The sparkplug Pokemon nodded slowly, still trying to rub the dirt out of his eyes. Fortunately for Yon Elekid, he didn’t need his vision to illuminate his body. The plug-like protrusions on his head began to light up with electrical power like a lightbulb, causing the Farfetch’d to see spots for a few moments as his vision worsened. Unfortunately for Yon Elekid, this accuracy drop only seemed to fuel Kennegi’s Defiant determination, the duck holding his leek in his beak while he flapped his wings. Kennegi zoomed forward at Yon Elekid, twisting his body like a corkscrew as he slammed into Yon Elekid with a powerful Aerial Ace. Between the high-speed Farfetch’d and his dirt-covered vision, Yon Elekid shot a Thunder Wave off that just missed its mark. The two Pokemon panted as they stared each other down. Yon Elekid stood his ground as Kennegi charged in once again. Kennegi struck Yon Elekid in the side with a Fury Cutter from his leek, the blunt side of his stick not leaving any scratches behind but still hurt the same. Yon Elekid winced, but he took the blow as a perfect opportunity to counter Kennegi square in the jaw with an Ice Punch. Kennegi squawked uncomfortably as he was sent flying backward a few feet. Kennegi righted himself while gritting his beak and slashed at Yon Elekid once again with an even stronger Fury Cutter. Despite having landed more hits in battle, it was Kennegi who seemed to be breathing harder of the two. However, Yon Elekid was far off from sitting pretty as he continued to stand his ground while panting heavily. While Yon Elekid’s vision did seem to be clearing up just a little bit, Kennegi’s Defiant gaze seemed to blaze as strongly as ever. How would Muyo proceed from here? Deoxys: As he watched the battle unfold, Hiero couldn’t help but be impressed by the Heracross’ strength and resolve. Wishing to join forces with the Hercules Beetle, he declared an all you can eat buffet of tree sap for Heracross in the future, but the bug wasn’t buying it just yet. It already had a nice lunch right before it when it was so rudely interrupted by the trainer who attacked it. Not to be dissuaded, Hiero called out his orders to Tomoko, holding a Pokeball at his side for when the time was right. Heracross inhaled deeply for a moment before shooting out a flurry of Bullet Seeds at Tomoko, knocking her back. With the aid of her Bunny Suit, Tomoko sprang into action, only allowing the seeds to hit her twice. The Mareanie then used the spike on top of her head to Peck mercilessly at Heracross’ backside, where there was a gap in the beetle’s exoskeleton for its wings. Heracross screeched in pain, spinning around and using its axe-like horn to scrape Tomoko with a brutal Night Slash. Tomoko reeled back in pain, but with her last ounce of strength, she lunged into Heracross, Pecking it once more. The attack hit it square in the chest, causing Heracross to get knocked back as the poison continued to sap its strength. Seizing the moment, Hiero gripped the Pokeball in his hand firmly and threw it at the Heracross. Upon contact, the ball popped open and a red laser pulled the creature inside as it closed. The ball landed on the dirt and leaf covered ground and began to wiggle once… twice… three times… before coming to a complete rest with a soft “Ding!” Congratulations! You have captured a lv.10 Male Heracross with the ability Guts! Hiero let out a deep sigh of relief as he went over to claim his new Pokemon. Tomoko let out a victorious sigh as well, although being on the brink of unconsciousness, she probably deserved a long rest after this. Tomoko has gained 2 levels! With the battle now over, Hiero was now free to explore in whatever direction he so desired. Or perhaps he might try to look for the resident trial captain of the Cloud Forest.

Kyuu-Tales - You don’t even need time to think about it, you ignore the laughter knowing that right now your priority is getting that tent back! It’s your only tent and you can’t afford to lose it because without it where will you sleep? You tell Baian to use his Water Gun on the Shinx in order to help slow it down! The water shoots through the air and hits one of the Shinx’s back legs, causing it to falter slightly, however, it continues to run. The Shinx looks back and you catch its expression for just a moment, it seems to be an expression of worry. It seems that this Shinx has a destination in mind and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Although it isn’t going to stop for a battle, it does look back and Leers at Baian and he does seem to be slightly effected by it. Now that you are closer, Baian is able to line up his next attack and lets out a dark Smokescreen that quickly begins to fill the area in front of you.
Suddenly, you hear something whiz past your ear, it was moving so fast that it created a bit of a wind that ended up knocking Baian off of your shoulder. Fortunately, you caught him, but it seemed to startle you both nonetheless. Next thing you know a strong Gust of wind is quickly clearing out the smoke as well as nearly blowing you backwards. Once the smoke has cleared you can see the Shinx has regained its distance between you and that now there is an angry looking Pidove looking back at you while flying in the sky above. It appears to be protecting the Shinx. But you still haven’t given up and continue the chase, telling Aiolia, who is much further ahead at this point, to try and Tackle the tent out of that Shinx’s grasp. Aiolia uses all of his energy to gain on at least the tent that is dragging a good distance behind the Shinx and eventually Tackle’s it, managing to dig his claws into the end of the tarp and is now being dragged along with it. The Pidove sees how close Aiolia is to the Shinx and lets out a Growl followed immediately by another Gust. The wind manages to force Aiolia to lose his grip and he tumble backwards, allowing the Shinx to have the advantage once again. The chase continues until suddenly the Shinx runs straight into a hole that seems to have been dug into a hill, the entire tent disappearing inside of there with it. The hole isn’t big enough for you but it’s definitely big enough for your Pokemon. The Pidove lands on the ground in front of the hole and begins to ruffle its feathers up in order to make itself look larger and intimidating. “Cooocoo!!” The Pidove looks like it’s ready to fight in order to stop anyone from entering that hole. It opens its wings preparing to unleash another Gust if it must. Last edited by Patches; 06-14-2017 at 12:49 PM. |

“Mio!!” She shouts her Pikachu’s name as loud as she can to make sure she grabs her attention. “We don’t have time to mess around here anymore! So I need you to quickly use a Tail Whip and immediately follow that up with a Thunder Shock!!” Mio’s face is now beaming, the fact that Patches has actually given her real battle commands is enough to make her ecstatic. ’After Mio’s attacks I’m going to throw this pokeball and hope for the best. If this capture fails, I can’t stay here anymore and will have no choice but to leave this little guy behind. But I’ll be happy to know I gave it my best shot!’ She prepares the empty pokeball in her one hand while reaching into her bag with the other. She throws a different pokeball into the air and it opens up releasing a pretty chill Swablu who lets out a yawn and floats there waiting for Patches to say something. Surprisingly, she is so serious right now she was able to reach into her bag blindly and pull out the correct Pokemon’s pokeball. “Alright Ciri! After this battle concludes I’m going to need you to fly up high and find Kei, then I need you to lead us to him!” While Patches is dealing with the Pancham, Kei followed the Stufful into a very interesting little area. He observes it for a moment but doesn’t pause for too long. The only thing on his mind is that he was sent here on a mission by Patches, and that mission was to give that Stufful a loving hug. So that is what he shall do. Kei has made up his mind and casually began to walk up to the Stufful, ignoring the other Pokemon around, and goes to give it a nice big hug.

“HYA!” The normally quiet Pokemon let out a remarkably loud cry in response to your compliment. It recognized the genuine praise, and looked as if proud to have done work to make its trainer happy. The interaction almost seemed normal, a trainer praising their Pokemon as they adventured together. Then, you remembered that you were at a very peaceful shrine, perhaps not the place to raise one’s voice. As you kneeled, you noticed the paper seemed incredibly old. It was yellowing at the edges, and threatened to rip even as you carefully unrolled it. Surprisingly, the writing on the paper was not faded at all. In black ink and a clear, flowing script, it read: Quote:

Is someone mocking me? Admittedly it is well written, but to think someone would pull this kind of prank in a holy place… He dropped the paper to the floor, dismissing it in favour of re-examining the perimeter on his own. However, he stopped midway once he realized Staryu wasn’t following him. Instead, the cosmic being was scanning the discarded document on its own, shedding a red light on the text as it went along. Then, once it was done, it turned its attention to the expansive shrine, apparently intent on taking the charade seriously! It’s acting of its own accord, despite my lack of interest… Is this the disobedience so amply documented in untrusting Pokémon? No, this is something else… this is personality. It was quickly becoming apparent that the starfish had a sharply inquisitive mind of its own, regardless of what its Trainer decided to do. He couldn’t allow himself to mistake that kind of beautiful scientific curiosity with rebellion; if anything, he should try and keep up with Staryu’s efforts – a Professor who lost his sense of wonder or, more importantly, his desire to act on it, was no more than a faceless lab assistant. If only for that reason, he shouldn’t be so quick to disregard the note, strange as it was. “It said something about going deeper where the earth shakes, yes? Maybe we should look for some entrance, some underground tunnel,” he finally said out loud, determined to cooperate with Staryu for the sake of strengthening their faint bond. “Rich in history as this place might be, it is quite barren in terms of construction… mayhap the shrine itself is where we should look.” Not that he’d noticed anything the first time he’d inspected it, but he was looking for something else entirely then – historical leads, clues on the mythos of Cloud Garden. Now, he was after anything that could be considered out of place: a dislodged stone, a crack on the shrine’s surface, a concealed button of some sort… anything that could perhaps reveal an entrance to “where the earth shakes”. Meanwhile, Staryu continued scanning the perimeter with the gem that may or may not be its eye, and hopefully their joint efforts would yield results.

She nodded at the Skrelp cradled in her arms before placing him on the ground. "Baian, don't worry about the Pidove," she began, craning her neck in Aiolia's direction. "Clear the way for Aiolia--fire a Water Gun into the burrow to flush Shinx out!" "Aiolia," Seiko thrust a hand into her waist pouch and rummaged about as she continued giving orders. "Charge after Shinx the instant Baian finishes. Keep on its tail by tackling forward intermittently; we can't lose that tarp! As for Pidove..." Seiko withdrew her hand, opening it slightly to reveal a Pokeball. "Go, Seiza!" A beam of white light burst open from the dual-toned orb which soon dissipated to reveal a Bronzor. It hummed and drifted away from its trainer to convey its feelings of battle-readiness. "Seiza, I need you to incapacitate that Pidove while Baian and Aiolia work to recover some stolen goods. Disrupt its clarity of thought with your Confusion attack!" That ought to stay its troublesome behavior, at least for a time. Still, Seiko couldn't help but wonder what would drive two totally dissimilar Pokemon who would otherwise have nothing to do with one another to work together to pull such a daring stunt. A canvas sheet was not without other uses, but she hadn't the faintest idea what the pair's plans for it could be. |

Tori's side of things was generally more successful, the poison type coercing the grass types to look at her. The Parasect wasn't amused, beckoning one of its other minions to advance on the Nidorina, stinging her with a thorn of poison...which the beast barely felt. Whirling around, she clouted round and scratched the white eyed pokemon across the chest, causing the Roselia to crumple and the three by her to return to cowering in fear. That wasn't as expected, but the poison pin pokemon had at least subdued it in some manner, and turned to support Glasspine, firing an icy ray at the raised claw of the insect as it prepared to strike down the stunned ground type and freezing the pincer solid. Rushing forward, she began to beat upon the bug, but realised there was no support. Alex's thoughts on their location was answered by a sensation on his leg and looking down saw one of the Roselia begging, shaking their head and pointing to their fallen friend, who was struggling to remain up. He hadn't realised just how weak these plants were, and on seeing their zombified friend push the two trying to help away, he realised then the problem: the Parasect was using their companions as shields, and the Roselia needed protecting. With Glasspine fighting paralysis, he counted two Roselia downed, one being unconscious from a single sludge bomb, and three standing on a neutral ground. Tori gazed at him and the Roselia with some concern, and with the Parasect struggling with a frozen limb it was open to attack for the most part. He had two goals on hand: finish the fight, rescue the fallen Roselia. "Glass! Turn that paralysis against the Parasect with a facade to that frozen claw, then punish it with a gyro ball up to the mushroom, then try and smash it with a poison jab! Tori, bring those weakened Roselia over here, starting with the unconscious one. Once they're both here, charm the Parasect to try and cut down the damage it can do with those claws, and maybe pacify it a little. Getting the Roselia to safety is a priority, if it comes for you, immediately protect yourself and the Roselia!" Turning to the worried grass type, Alex showed it the mushroom in the bag, pointing at the Parasect's larger mushroom. "These things are poisonous, but I promise I'll find a cure for your friends. I'm going to need you to be brave though and support my pokemon as they try and fight off this big bug, even if you can't fight well, anything's good." Watching the situation, Alex thought to examine the mushroom collected to see if there were any oddities about it. |

Maskerade:
You and your Pokemon headed back towards the shrine, Staryu a bit more hurried and excited than you were. Sure, this seemed like some kind of fool’s errand, but it didn’t hurt to give it a chance. The two of you headed back up on to the main platform of the shrine, footsteps echoing on the hollow wooden structure. Staryu took to the large door of the shrine, gem glowing with a slight buzzing noise as it inspected each square inch. You started looking low, fixated on finding something that could lead to the underground. Crouching next to a stone pillar that held the shrine up, you looked carefully at the foundation. Though it looked to be crumbling with age, a slight push proved that it was rather solid. There weren't any secret buttons or levers to be found here. You moved instead on to the ground level of the shrine, trying to see if you could spot anything under the floorboards. The sun, now directly overhead, did not provide you with enough light to clearly see anything of interest. THUMPATHUMPATHUMP. THUD. The sudden tumbling noise startled you, and you immediately looked in its direction. The source was from Staryu, who had tried unsuccessfully to descend the stairs of the shrine. It now lay face-down at the bottom step. Sighing at the sea-star’s clumsiness, you headed to its side to help it back up. You righted Staryu again, who possibly looked embarrassed to take such a fall. “HYA.” It stated, acknowledging your help. It wandered to the opposite side of the shrine from you, hoping to find something to impress you with. You watched as it continued to scan individual spots of dirt, making a disappointed sound when it came up with nothing. Intent on continuing your observation of this Pokemon, you found yourself wondering how this scanning method really worked. As it turned the corner around the shrine out of sight, you realized you should probably get back to your own searching. But where would you look next? ------------------- Raves: The small Roselia seemed to be calmed by your words. It realized you truly wanted to help it and its friends. You could tell this little one was brave, at least enough to approach you. It would be advantageous to continue letting it know you were on their side. You called out the next attacks to your paralyzed Sandshrew. The Parasect had taken to whacking its frozen claw against Glasspine in frustration, trying to break the ice off on his rough hide. This seemed to be more of an annoyance than anything to your Pokemon, though the paralysis was preventing him from getting the Parasect to stop. Fortunately, he understood why you decided to have him use Façade next. He waited until the Parasect brought its claw up into the air again, and made sure to look like he was struggling greatly to move. Though the paralysis made his moves slow or even delayed, he was able to deliver a firm attack to the Parasect to take it off guard. This knocked the Parasect off balance, and it fell on its side with the weight of the mushroom on its back. It’s many legs wriggled in the air and it squealed in pure rage. The Sandshrew prepared itself for a Gyro Ball but found that its claws couldn’t move. The paralysis was slowly spreading throughout his body. As an alternative, he moved on to gathering poison in his claws. Glasspine thrust his arm forward to jab the Parasect in its soft underbelly. Before his arm could fully extended, it locked up and refused to move. “Sand!” He cried out in frustration, then looked to Tori to continue on for the team. Approaching the upturned bug Tori put on her best sympathetic face. She placed her claws on either side of it, offering a charming Helping Hand to the poor thing. The Parasect seemed convinced enough to stop squirming and lower its defenses, perhaps believing that Tori was once again under its influence. It didn't need to send any more of its henchmen to defend it for now. The three unharmed Roselia, surprisingly clever, realized that this was their chance to help out. They had gathered around Glasspine, forming a circle with their roses. At first, you were worried they were going to start the chanting again, but instead small green orbs begin to surround them. Together, the flowered Pokemon Synthesized a cure for Glasspine’s paralysis. The Ground-type looked relieved, and immediately thanked his healers. Satisfied your plan was working so far, you took a look down at the bagged mushroom in your hands. You turned it slowly through the plastic, meticulously checking it for any information it could give you. As you reached the final side of it, you noticed, to your horror, a small bite mark. You hurriedly brought your attention over to Tori, worried that this meant what you thought it did. As if on cue, the Nidorina slumped to the ground. |

Elka had nearly forgotten about her Pokemon's Normalize ability, this battle probably would've been at least somewhat closer to over if she had taken the time to carefully think about her actions. She cursed herself, watching helplessly as the large bird was blasted with a normally effective thunderbolt. The bird seemed to become progressively more angry the more Mochi struck it, upon the most recent hit it was swept off it's feet. It was a small leap to finally calming the bird, but Elka had faith that they would be victorious in protecting this small bear. As the bird carefully raised itself to it's feet again, it angrily readied it's beak and hit Mochi multiple times with a bout of Fury Attack. The small pink cat recoiled from the hit, letting out a loud mewl as she was tossed a few feet to the side. Mochi raised herself back to her own feet, huffing with exertion as she starred down the Fearow. She let out a powerful hiss, almost sounding as though it had come from a completely different Pokemon than the tiny cat. The Fearow responded with it's own powerful caw, flapping it's wings slowly in order to raise itself into the air. Elka looked skyward, raising her hand above her eyebrows in an attempt to block out the bright rays of the sun. Pascal stood by his trainer, motionless, ready to jump in if Elka commanded that Mochi needed help. The Teddiursa seemed jittery as well, keeping a close eye on the bird and it's tiny knight in shining armour. The Fearow had raised itself somewhat high into the sky, causing Elka to turn to her Pokemon. She knew it's next attack would be powerful, similar to it's first strike against the Pokemon. Elka hesitated, attempting to figure out exactly how she could react. "Mochi!" The pink cat turned it's head toward her. "It's going to attack from the sky! I don't know how much you can do, but try and dodge the direct impact if you can. As you jump out of the way, try and blast it with a Hyper Voice!" The Skitty nodded, keeping it's eye on the bird as she braced herself for a quick dodge.

Hiero couldn't believe it. That sound - it was so... unfamiliar, yet, nostalgic. While true he has had some recent additions to his team since he began his journey again, these were all Pokemon he had acquired through other means. This Heracross, though, was different: it was the first Pokemon Hiero had captured from a wild encounter in a very, very long time. "Eean..." Mareanie breathed heavily, and then fell to her side. She hadn't been knocked out, but she was definitely running on fumes at this point. Hiero smiled gently and knelt down beside her, resting his arm on one knee. He shuffled his hand through his pack and pulled out her Pokeball. "You did a great job, and during your first battle no less. Get some rest - we'll see if we can get some lunch soon. Corsola spikes - my treat." The Mareanie smiled at her trainer, noticeably proud of herself. Her technique was excellent, and her battling skills, especially for a first-timer, were superb. "She definitely has a lot of potential," Hiero thought. After retrieving the Mareanie, Hiero reached over to his new Heracross' Pokeball and lifted it up. "Welcome to the team, Junpei - Maybe I'll call you Jun for short. Like I promised, let's get you some food, too." Hiero stood up and returned the two Pokeballs to his backpack. "First order of business is to heal up and take a lunch break at the Ranger's cabin, and then... we'll see what other surprises the Cloud Forest has to offer..." Hiero's train of thought trailed off. He began walking forward, leaving the battle scarred trees behind, ready for whatever the Cloud Garden had in store for him. ((Confirming addition of Junpei the Heracross, Lv. 10 w/ Guts to my party - heading to the Ranger's station to heal up and see what happens next...)) |

Hearing about the Budew’s background, Lucas couldn’t help but feel empathy for the outcast bud. Deciding to follow Petunia’s suggestion, he turned to ask her if she would accompany him to the Roserade queen and possibly vouch for him. Petunia smiled and nodded, answering, “Sure, I can take you there. I have to let you know though, she doesn’t let volunteers like me do any watering or maintenance on her so I don’t know how good my word is with her… You’ll see when we get there.” The two of them then proceeded down the various paths of the rose section of the garden. Much like the flower bed where they met, there were countless other flower beds filled with Roselia who were posing like picture-perfect models. The further in they walked, the more maze-like the garden became. Large sections of flower beds became tall hedges that were filled with roses. It was when they finally made it to the back corner of the garden that it opened up into a large clearing. The corner of the rose garden seemed to resemble an outdoor throne room, a long aisle was covered in fresh rose petals and surrounded by lines of the most beautiful Roselia posing on either side. At the end of the passage was a large flower bed that was elevated by a couple of layers of stone steps. Standing atop the steps was the Roserade queen in all her glory; her roots Ingrained in the soil to take in nutrients while her arms were raised elegantly in order to photosynthesize. She was adorned with a crown of thorn-less roses around her head and a pair of Budews stood at her roots, watering them with Water Sports. “You might want to bow briefly before approaching her,” Petunia whispered to Lucas, “Just play along.” While she maintained a serious face as to not offend the Roserade queen, Lucas could see a softness in Petunia’s expression that indicated she was having a fun time with this. Stepping onto the rose covered pathway, Petunia briefly lowered her head and grabbed her apron as if it were a dress. “Your highness, a visitor has come to speak with you,” she announced. She waited to see how Lucas would act next. Patches: Perplexed as to why the feisty Pancham didn’t enjoy her gift of confetti, Patches watched on as Mio and Pancham continued to duke it out. Both Pokemon were beginning to wear down, and Patches knew she needed to wrap things up quickly in order to catch up to Kei and Stufful. She pulled out a Pokeball in hopes of trying to work things out with the Pancham at a later time. Turning her attention back to the battle, Patches finally called out some orders to Mio in a rare moment of responsibility. Mio was excited to finally have her trainer’s support, especially after the confetti letdown. She nodded and prepared to face the Pancham once more. As Pancham charged in, Mio brushed him with a Tail Whip as Pancham countered with a Tackle, pinning Mio to the ground. Not to be deterred, Mio quickly jolted the Pancham with a Thunder Shock knocking him off of her. Pancham slowly got to his feet, angrily Leering at Mio in defiance. Level up for Mio! Patches took this opportunity to then throw her Pokeball at the Pancham, so seemed weakened enough. The ball connected with the panda and sucked it in with a red laser before landing on the ground. It shook once… twice… and then three times before popping back open to reveal the battered Pancham. It angrily fixed its gaze on Patches, not ready to relinquish its freedom just yet. Patches was in a bind here, but she had no time left to waste. Calling upon her Swablu, Ciri, she asked the cotton bird to fly up and look for Kei. Ciri let out two quick chirps before taking to the air. She began flying in the direction of the cluster of trees, trying to point Patches in the right direction. While all of this was going on, Kei was determined to complete his mission. The Charmander stepped out from the bushes, completely blowing his cover, and walked up to the Stufful who was being yelled at by a Timburr. Kei gently wrapped his arms around the Stufful, embracing him in a hug as Timburr watched on incredulously. With a shrove from his forearm, Timburr pushed Kei off of Stufful, angrily accusing Stufful of bringing a bodyguard to protect him. Stufful continued to shake where he stood, desperately trying to deny the accusation. It seems like Kei made things worse for Stufful. Maybe it would be best to rejoin with Patches and bring her here for assistance. Naruxami: A nervous energy coursed through Elka as she watched her young Skitty battle this fearsome predatory bird. It wasn’t a favorable situation, but the least she could do was offer support to Mochi as a Pokemon trainer. Watching the Fearow flap its wings and take to the air, Elka quickly thought up a strategy and called it out to Mochi. The Skitty listened attentively and nodded, letting out a “Mew” of confirmation. Fearow cawed angrily, flapping its wings slowly. The wingbeats got faster and faster as the bird build up some momentum and circled around Mochi. Unfortunately for Mochi, there was no dodging in this situation as Fearow spun into a corkscrew, ramming the Skitty at blinding speeds for an Aerial Ace. Mochi yelped in pain, but did not let the hit deter her as she roared out a Hyper Voice. The booming sound was quite loud, causing Teddiursa and Pascal to cover their ears. Fearow was taken aback, the sudden noise disorienting it mid-flight as the bird lost its bearing and crashed down to the ground. Both Pokemon took some heavy hits this round and both are beginning to breathe a bit heavier. Mochi has used up quite a bit of energy so far, so finishing this battle sooner rather than later would probably work best in her favor. Getting back to its feet, Fearow began to stare the Skitty down. As it prepared for its next attacks, the Fearow looked as if it were about Peck at Mochi and then follow it up with a Pursuit. How will Elka and Mochi decide to counter? Deoxys: Hiero breathed a sigh of relief as the battle was now over and Junpei the Heracross was now an official member of his team. He knelt down next to Tomoko and congratulated her on a hard fought battle, giving her a well-earned rest in her Pokeball. Turning his attention back to Junpei, Hiero decided to follow through on his promise to treat his Pokemon to a good lunch and heal them up in the process. Getting back to his feet, Hiero set course for the rangers’ cabin, which was located in the Galea Plains; a resting place for trainers to heal their injured Pokemon and regroup. As he headed South in the direction of the Galea Plains, Hiero noticed as the trees in the forest began to thin out very gradually. Many of the trees were smaller in size too, in comparison to some of the behemoths that grew in the Cloud Forest. He continued walking south for about an hour, accompanied only by the chirping of birds, the buzzing of insects, and the gentle rustle of leaves in the wind above. Eventually the forest trail took him through one last cluster of trees before opening up into the expansive foothills that were the Galea Plains. Lush green rolling hills beneath a vast blue sky extended as far as the eye could see before him, with a wall of trees marking the Cloud Forest behind him. A few small trees scattered the plains before Hiero, providing small oases of shade atop some of the hills. A signpost next to where Hiero stood at the forest’s edge marked directions to all kinds of areas in the Cloud Garden, including the Galea Plains before him, the Cloud Forest behind him, and many others, but one direction of note pointed him to the southwest; the Ranger’s Cabin. Following the path in that direction, it wasn’t long until long before Hiero spotted a wooden cabin in the distance. As he approached it, Hiero noticed a sign on the door. It read, “Welcome, travelers! The ranger is out at the moment, but please make yourself at home!” Taking the message to heart, Hiero opened the door and stepped inside. Inside the cabin, he noticed that it was pretty bare-bones, but there were a number of cots for sleeping, a small kitchenette, and a healing machine for trainers to use. He walked over to the healing machine and placed Junpei and Tomoko’s Pokeballs in it, pressing the button to activate the machine. While he waited for the healing machine to do its thing, Hiero looked around the kitchenette. In the cabinets above, there were containers of various kinds of food to cater to different kinds of Pokemon. There was also some bread and fruit on the counter and sandwich ingredients in the refrigerator. Hiero proceeded to make lunch for himself and his Pokemon. By the time he finished preparing the meal, the healing machine let out a “Ding!” to signify that it had finished. Sitting down at a table to eat with his Pokemon, Hiero noticed a poster on the wall. “Looking to ascend Mt. Zephyria? Challenge the Cloud Garden trials today! Trial captains of the Galea Foothills can be located at the woodcutter’s cabin in the Cloud Forest and at the altar of the Stone Shrine. Once the first two trials have been cleared, one may travel up the Starline Waterfall!”With a goal now in sight, Hiero had time to finish lunch with his Pokemon and prepare for the adventure ahead. He could do a number of things: explore the Galea Plains where he is now located, look to challenge one of the trials in the Cloud Forest or Stone Shrine, or travel to another area in the Galea Foothills to explore around. What will he choose? [Please reply in lightgreen]

Lillian briefly stepped forward, before shaking the bush rapidly in front of her, trying to keep her hands well enough away from the Scatterbug to avoid a potential bite. Her intention was to spook the Scatterbug initially into focusing on her, instead of continuing to bicker with each other. Lillian wondered in the back of her head if she would regret that, but quickly pushed that thought to the side. Turning to Remilia, Lillian yelled out to her. "Try to Charm the remaining ones while I've got their attention Remilia, then we'll lead them away to somwhere after that." If this worked, Lillian was going to be able to solve the problem while trying not to hurt any of the poor Pokemon involved. Lillian thought to herself whether or not she wanted to catch one of the little Pokemon as well, briefly. If the oppurtunity presented itself to her, she would definitely try to take that chance.

...well, alright, so she'd gone to the Springtide Isle not that long ago and she'd picked up her Phantump in the Friend Safari, but those were sponsored events. They didn't...really count, in her opinion, especially when they were mostly acquisition-type adventures compared to her visits to Cascadia or Whale Island. She shaded her eyes as she eyed the cloud-obscured peak of Mt. Zephyria, internally promising herself that she'd make it up there one day, but for now, there was one particular bird she was hoping to find. "So. The Cloud Garden." She grabbed the strap of her knapsack and shifted her bag into a more comfortable position. "We're finally here." "Quil cyndaquil," Wildfire agreed from his perch on her other shoulder. "Cyn da quil?" "Not yet. I wanna look for something first, but we're definitely gonna take a shot at getting up there." "Quil quil cyndaquil?" he asked wryly, glancing up at the clouds and then at the approaching forest. "Well, can you blame me?" Melissa shook her head. "Five years here and I only manage to spot it like twice, while Johto and Kanto have them all over the place. It's...frustrating." He hummed thoughtfully. "Cyn da quil. Quil quil, cyndaquil, cynda cyndaquil. Quil quil cyndaquil quil cynda." There was a moment of silence before she huffed out a breath. "Why do you have to make sense?" He snickered and she rolled her eyes in response. "Yeah, yeah. We'll go try out the trial if we don't find it by, hm, noon?" "Quil cyndaquil," he pointed out. "Yeah, I know. But there's always next time." She shrugged. "We'll probably have to head back to switch out teammates anyway." "Qu-il." He nodded and then pointed ahead. "Quil quil?" "Full steam ahead."

After an hour or so, the food was ready: fluffy berry pancakes drizzled in syrup, and Corsola spikes marinated in an orange ginger glaze. As they ate, Hiero spent most of the meal trying to get to know his Pokemon a bit better, specifically the newest addition to his team, Junpei. The Heracross was somewhat reluctant to eat at first and seemed somewhat sheepish, probably in part due to sitting next to the Pokemon that had been its enemy just hours earlier. However, it quickly became apparent just how hungry the Pokemon was. After finally giving into its stomach, the Heracross attempted to suck the syrup out of the pancakes without eating them, but once Hiero showed it how pancakes were eaten, the Heracross' demeanor seemed to change rapidly. It became noticeably happier and more willing to communicate cordially with Hiero and the Mareanie, as though it were slowly beginning to accept its new team as his home. Hiero took notice of the fact that the Heracross seemed to be particularly interested in listening to him tell stories of famous Pokemon battles of the past, and could see that his tales seemed to excite it the longer he continued. Finally, after a moment of silence while cleaning the dishes, Hiero stopped and turned to the Heracross. "Junpei: How would you like to take the Cloud Forest Trial Challenge with me?" The Heracross looked at Hiero and immediately understood. His demeanor became serious as he formed an 'X' shape with his arms, and then thrust them outwards to his sides, nodding as he did. There was no question; all the stories of battles had pumped this Pokemon up. Mareanie grinned excitedly at her new partner's reaction, clearly glad he was part of the team. Hiero smiled back at the Mareanie and pulled out her Pokeball. "You did great today Tomoko. You deserve a good, long rest." The Mareanie nodded and leaped into the air as Hiero retrieved her into the device. "Well then, I suppose it's settled. Get ready Jun - we're headed back to the Cloud Forest." |

Jerichi:
Roserade stared down with a cold indifference as Lucas and Horologie stepped forward with their heads bowed. While she didn’t give off the vibe of a tyrannical ruler, she certainly didn’t seem friendly enough to take interest in every passing traveler either. Her ruling disposition was a much more vain display of her own self-importance. As Lucas properly introduced himself, he propositioned for Roserade’s assistance in lending a Rose Incense to help the poor Budew. At the mere mention of the Rose Incense, the queen turned slightly to stare at a rack of about five of the item in question right behind her. Turning back to face Lucas, her eyes quietly narrowed at the mention of Budew. “Rose…” she spoke with a quiet disinterest. Roserade rolled her eyes as Lucas referred to Budew as ‘her subject’ as if to imply that his assumption was mistaken. She stood in silence for a moment, paying liitle heed to Budew’s plight. However, she sighed, not wanting any blood on her rosy hands. “Rose… erade. Rose!” she commanded, gesturing one arm to the east before crossing her arms. With that, one of the Roselias closest to the throne from the aisle stepped forward and addressed Lucas, Petunia, and Horologie. The flower Pokemon pointed east just as Roserade had and then pantomimed a small ovular shape with her rose hands before finishing by pointing at the Rose Incense. Petunia nodded and bowed one more time before gesturing for Lucas and Horologie to join her away from the throne area. “Flower charades is a little tricky, but I think I got the gist of it,” she began with a smile. “Basically I think what she’s saying is that if you want to get the Rose Incense, you’re going to need to bring back a seed of some sort from Lilligant’s domain. That’s why they were pointing to the east. C’mon, I’ll show you the way.” While it might have been a bit of a wild goose chase, Petunia seemed to be enjoying herself. To her, the politics of the different Rose Garden areas was quite fascinating. Lilligant and Roserade, she added, didn’t seem to get along particularly well. But that was nothing compared to the feud between Roserade and her biggest rival to the south-east. After a short while of walking, the two came across another border which seemed to separate the rose and the lily domains. However, the hedges they came across looked as if someone’s Snubbull had just torn their couch to shreds. Either that or the aftermath of the biggest pillow fight in history. The hedges on either side of the border were covered in fluffy, cotton-like substances, and as Lucas took a step forward, Petunia stopped him. “Hold on, something’s not right here.” She picked up a pebble from the ground and tossed it into the clearing. Instantly a flurry of Bullet Seeds and Cotton Spores went flying into the area from either side. “As I thought, things could get a little tense over here. It looks like we’ve stumbled into a turf war between the Jumpluff who live in the Rose territory and the Whimsicott who live in the Lily territory. What do you say? Should we try to go through it or shall we take a small detour to the south?” Deoxys: As he sat in the ranger’s cabin at the dining table with his two hungry Pokemon, Hiero recounted the adventures of his past, telling two of the newer member of his team all about battles he and his Pokemon had fought in the past. While hearing all of these stories, Junpei couldn’t help but be fired up as he chowed down on some berry pancakes his new partner cooked for him. Once the meal was over, Hiero dutifully cleaned up after himself and his Pokemon and began to think about where he wanted to proceed from here. It didn’t take Hiero long to come up with a decision, and he asked Junpei if he would like to join him in taking on the trial challenge back in the Cloud Forest. The Heracross quickly agreed without hesitation, and after giving Tomoko a rest, the two left the cabin. It was a familiar path as they headed down the Galea Plains trail, heading back the same direction from where they had previously come. The sun was shining brightly in the clear blue sky, perfect weather for exploration in this peaceful meadow, but it would have to wait for another day. Eventually the two arrived at the wall of trees that marked the edge of the Cloud Forest. With one last look back at the plains, the two continued forward into the thick of the trees. It was another quiet stroll through the woods, marked only by the sounds of the birds, the bugs, and the leaves just as it was before. The trail itself was uneventful as Hiero and Junpei carried forward for what seemed like an hour or so. It wasn’t until they noticed that the forest was getting darker that they arrived at a fork in the road, marked by a signpost. Hiero noted to himself that it must be getting close to sunset. The signpost itself was obstructed by a low-hanging branch, and as Hiero leaned closer to clear it, he heard a sound off to the west. THWACK… THWACK… THWACK… Hiero then moved the branch to see that the arrow pointing left to the west was faded, but the arrow pointing right to the east could be made out to read ‘Woodcutter’s Cabin.’ As the light in the forest grew ever-dimmer, Hiero faced another decision: Investigate the noise to the west or head towards the cabin in the east.
