UPN PASBL: Peral's Perap vs. Shadowshocker

Peral's Perap vs. Shadowshocker

The Decrepit Lab. A once great building that was full of valuable information and research. It was the site of countless experiments on Pokemon and the environment. A place where scientific breakthroughs took place, which have since been embraced by history. These days it is only a shell of its former self; overgrown, mostly deactivated and abandoned. The Lab was forgotten by humans a long time ago, and now Pokemon rule this mechanical and scientific roost. However this place has one more secret hidden deep within its halls:

An artifact.

A Shen Gong Wu.

Two trainers stand facing each other inside the main control center of the lab. Between them is the Horde of Devon. Each trainer is preparing himself for an ancient event seldom seen in the modern world; A test to see who truly deserves such a sought for artifact.

"Shadowshocker, I challenge you to a Pokemon Battle for the Horde of Devon!" said the first trainer, confidently.

"I accept your challenge!" replied his opponent.

It is my honor to be mediating this legendary match form. As ref, let me lay down the obligatories:

Quote:
Decrepit Lab (Indoor Custom Arena): An abandoned lab built by humans long ago. Left to fall into disrepair, it is now home to Pokemon. Pokemon under the Urban category battle slightly more enthusiastically here. If Weather Ball is used here, it is Electric-typed.
Special Rules: Wild Pokemon (Abra, Kadabra, Alakazam, Mr. Mime, Ditto, Porygon, Porygon2, Mime Jr., Porygon-Z)
Our arena is the Decrepit Lab. A picture can be seen here. The power in the complex is on, however most of the machinery is either damaged or deactivated. That doesn't mean it can'tl be abused for the sake of the match though. Keep this is mind.

3-on-3
Return = KO
48HR DQ
Slapstick
Equi-All 4

These are our battle specs. Each of you will use 3 Pokemon, no switching permitted. You will have 48 hours before your opponent may inquire about a disqualification. Damage will be Slapstick and all Pokemon treated as Level 4.

Shadowshocker will post his squad of 6.
Pearl's Perap will follow with his 6, and send his first one out.
Shadowshocker will send out and order.
Pearl's Perap will order.
I ref.
Pearl's Perap will order.
Shadowshocker will order.
And so on.

Good luck to both combatants. Here's to an excellent battle!

Zapster: Level 5 Male Electivire
A playful, brash member of Shadowshocker's Squad. Zapster has been known to go out and play in the midst of lightning storms, and can absorb lightning strikes to the extent of hurting himself.
Signature Move: Storm Blessing
Zapster lets fly a blast of electricity into the sky. The same blast comes down in the form of a lightning bolt onto his opponent one to three turns later (similar to Future Sight), shocking them severely. Before the attack comes, rumblings begin to echo from the sky and a brilliant flash of light may occur. Storm Blessing uses up as much energy as Future Sight and also does as much damage as Future Sight. Zapster can't use this attack more than once each battle and he can't use this attack while battling in indoor arenas.

Grim: Level 4 Male Dusclops
The leader of Shadowshocker's Squad, Grim is a wise Pokémon that knows what to do in any situation, be it a landslide or an argument between his squadmates. Grim's high level of intelligence and mastery of his own elemental abilities makes him a dark horse in battle.
Signature Move: Skull and Cross Beam
Grim fires a powerful beam of Ghost energy in the shape of a skull-and-crossbones symbol (but still the same size as a normal, fully charged Hyper Beam), capable of causing major damage or destruction. It takes a large amount of energy, and leaves Grim very drained for a period immediately afterwards. Grim may try to attack during this time, but success is less likely. Grim is unable to use Ghost-type attacks for five turns after a full-charge Skull and Cross Beam. An alternative to this is a "quick-charge" Skull and Cross Beam, which deals damage akin to 1/2 of Ice Beam, but uses less energy and no recharge time. In reality, this attack can run the gamut from minimal charge, which would do quick, but only decent damage, to the fully charged version, which deals major damage. Depending on the charge and how much it was hit by Skull and Cross Beam, the Pokemon Skull and Cross Beam is targeted at will have a 0% to 20% chance of being scared and hence unable to attack (0% at low charge, 20% at full charge) for four turns at most. Larger Pokemon such as Gyarados and Steelix are 20% less likely to be affected this way. Grim can't use Skull and Cross Beam for more than once at full charge or twice at quick charge each battle.

Dave: Level 4 Male Alakazam
The subleader of Shadowshocker's non-Gym Squad who constantly strives to do his best and surpass his normal abilities. Through meditation he mastered not only a calm composure and discipline, but also the ability to strike without warning when his enemies least expect it.
Signature Move: Destined Roulette
When Dave became a Kadabra, he further sought to better amplify his psychokinetic powers and use them in even more aspects. As such, he combined his clairvoyant capabilities from Future Sight with Metronome to generate a new attack.
Using Future Sight, Dave times his Metronome attack to use it at the exact moment, during which a certain designated attack will be generated from the Metronome. Dave can only browse through 300 attacks in one turn; if the designated attack does not appear in a list of randomly generated attacks, nothing happens.
When he uses Destined Roulette, Dave has to concentrate hard enough that renders him otherwise immobile and thus prone to enemy attacks for as long as needed to randomly search for his designated attack. Destined Roulette uses up energy equivalent to 2.5 Future Sights, as well as the energy of the attack generated.
If Dave does not have enough energy to use the designated attack, Destined Roulette fails, but Dave still suffers the 2.5 Future Sight energy cost. Regardless of result, Destined Roulette can only be used once a battle, and counts as a two-move combination that cannot be combined in three-move combinations.
To ref Destined Roulette, visit http://www.randomizer.org/form.htm and for each question key in the following values:
How many sets of numbers do you want to generate?: 10
How many numbers per set?: 30
Number range (e.g., 1-50): From 1 to 467
Do you wish each number in a set to remain unique?: Yes
When the results are generated, use the Find Command in your browser to look for the corresponding attack number. (Example: Flamethrower is 53)
If the number is absent, the attack fails.
If the number is present, its position in the list roughly indicates how long it takes for Dave to remain still and locate the attack.

Experiment 031/Gotchu: Level 4 Male Drapion
Trained to pinch people with his claws. As a result of his training, Gotchu possesses a psychological complex that thrives on the pain and torment he causes with his pinching. To further the irritation he inflicts, Gotchu thought of a nastier method to perform his pinching.
Signature Move: Pinch Toss
Gotchu grabs the opponent with his tail claw, clamping it into the skin of his target to get as good a grip as he can, and flips his tail backwards to hurl the victim backwards in a overhead toss. This move works like a reverse Low Kick -- the lighter the target is, the further and heavier Gotchu can fling them, and the more damage will be dealt. In fact, Gotchu can't use Pinch Toss on opponents heavier than he is. This attack uses up as much energy as two Clamps, a Seismic Toss and a Crunch. Due to the usage of his venomous tail, this attack has a 10% chance of regularly poisoning the victim when Gotchu's tail penetrates the skin. In addition, this attack can only be used thrice a battle.

Experiment 390/Slimy: Level 4 Male Muk
Originally trained to trip up others with the slime he leaves around. However Slimy took up a lazy temperament and as a result refuses to move around more than absolutely necessary. After constant training with Kanocho using him as a handy punching-bag, he became more and more defensive to non-elemental attacks.
Signature Move: Slime Fortitude
Slimy takes 15% less damage from attacks that require physical contact as well as projectile attacks (think of Ash's Muk against Jeanette Fisher's Bellsprout).

Experiment 505/Ploot: Level 4 Male Weezing
Originally trained to collect pollution and convert it into thick black sludge which Ploot flings everywhere, but this overgeneralised substance parameter turned out to exceed Ploot's basic biology. A somewhat knowledgeable but cheeky ball of gas, Ploot commonly uses his smarts and chemical cocktails to play pranks on everyone else around him, thankfully not causing permanently maiming damage (both physical and mental). Ploot is also the team leader for the Ground Zero Gym Squad.
Signature Move: Vomit Comet
In a similar vein to his original designations, Ploot is capable of swallowing up energy-based attacks, converting their energy into thick, black sludge which he hurls at the opponent. To do this, Ploot opens his mouth wide to intercept the attack, and uses his contamination powers to convert the intercepted energy into Poisonous sludge which is then flung. The sludge does as much damage as the intercepted attack would have originally done, with 20% chance of poisoning. In doing so, Ploot reduces the damage taken from the intercepted attack by half, but uses up energy equivalent to 1.25x of the intercepted attack plus half a Sludge Bomb. In addition, Ploot can only use Vomit Comet once per match, and due to his size, he isn't always able to swallow up the entire extent of larger attacks such as Fire Blast. In these cases, Ploot can only halve the damage of what fraction of the attack he intercepts (ref's discretion of the fraction's value), while taking full damage from the attack's remainder. Ploot also can't intercept attacks stronger than a Focus Blast; if he attempts to do so he will take full damage from the move, and this will constitute his only use of Vomit Comet in that match.

Alice: Level 1 Female Chatot
At a young age, Zak encountered Alice whilst on vacation. As he initially found the pokémon, the two were attacked by an angry troupé of Tentacool but, by some sort of miracle, Alice defended Zak and somehow won. Since this event, Zak chose Alice as his starting pokémon and the two have become completely inseparable.
No Signature Move

Jenny: Level 2 Female Gible
Encountered in a musty cavern in the Sinnoh region, Jenny was an orphaned pokémon that took an instant shine to both Zak and his only companion at the time, Alice. So far, she has been a crucial part of Zak's team, already proving herself to him on multiple occasions.
No Signature Move

Max: Level 2 Male Slowpoke
Returning to the seaside location where he had met Alice, Zak encountered a severely injured Slowpoke tangled in a fisherman's net. After removing the danger, the Slowpoke began a full recovery and joined his team as a permanent fixture.
No Signature Move

Tim: Level 1 Male Ponyta
Whilst spending time at a ranch-come-hostel, Zak's pokémon spent a lot of time bonding with the various steeds and working animals and, the evening he and his pokémon were leaving, a Ponyta who wanted to see the world left the ranch and joined his team, much to the delight of his current pokémon.
No Signature Move

Kit: Level 1 Female Shinx
Kit had been a part of Zak's family ever since he was a child. Owned by his mother from her days as a co-ordinator, the pokémon has traveled all around the world already, despite still being a youngster.
No Signature Move

Bette: Level 1 Female Snorunt
The latest addition to Zak's team and the future bombshell, Bette takes a great deal of time on her appearance, despite being a pokémon. Despite their differences, she always tries to impress Tim who doesn't bat an eyelid and would much rather galloping around a field to romance.
No Signature Move

---

Zak stepped into the strange arena before deciding on a first pokémon, grabbing at a familiar pokéball, he released a land shark pokémon, "C'mon out, Jenny!" he whispered as a Garchomp appeared before him...

Zak, I should inform you that as your level-up, Jenny would be at Level 5 and eligible for Garchompness, but due to you bringing both level-ups they have a 40% chance of disobeying each command.

Peral's Perap vs. Shadowshocker, Round 1 - I Suck At KND Codenames

"LET'S GO! XIAOLIN SHOWDOWN!"

And so begins this ancient test of strength, endurance, will and wisdom. The door to the facility closes off, locking the two trainers and their Pokemon inside until the battle is completed. Monitors and the odd machine wink to life as a mysterious power fills the lab, the remnants of the building's glory days.

The Horde of Devon, according to this highly detailed information sheet I received from a reliable source, allows the wielder to read any glyph or language they want, regardless of how well they know it themselves.

With the sudden activity, the two trainers each send out their pokemon. Pearl's Perap leads with Jenny, the lesser of everyone's favorite torpedo land shark, to hold a solid type advantage over most of Shadow's toxic team. Not deterred, the Poison GL himself sounds out Dave, the Alakazam, in hopes of scoring a win.

"GONG YI TAN PAI!"

Jenny vs. Dave
Oliver Lieb - Superload

Both Jenny and Dave think that a tactical advantage for later is a good idea, and so they each open the fight with their own stat boosts. The Alakazam focuses his energy into physical strength and endurance, something which is as much of a Curse as it is a blessing, increasing his attack and defense but reducing speed. Jenny meanwhile prepares a Swords Dance, making a high-speed pirouette to boost her attack. Those spikes and teeth look sharper already! Having boosted his psychical body, Dave settles down for a brief period of meditation, Calming his Mind for increased psychic activity as well. Jenny takes the opportunity to rush her preoccupied opponent, raise a bladed wing and Slash it down across Dave's body, leaving a nice long cut. The psychic type was taken by surprise and knocked back by the strike, but recovered quickly, ready to continue.

Jenny took no damage, so health is untouched. Energy use was decent but noticeable. Still fresh and ready to rock. Swords Dance is in effect.

Dave took a good boosted blow, although his own boosts helped counter it. Energy use was similar to his opponent, so no clear lead there. Both Curse and a mostly complete Calm Mind are in effect.

PP then SS.

Peral's Perap vs. Shadowshocker, Round 2 - Close Combat

Longest reffing I've done to date-*shot*

Jenny, being happy with her previous strike, is keen to draw more blood from the opponent. Her trainer orders otherwise however, opting for love, not war. Deeming the move a complete waste of time and energy she directly disobeys her orders; charging in and giving Dave a nasty Crunch to the shoulder with her vicious teeth. The dark energy injection makes the Alakazam twist in pain, dropping one knee down on the tiled lab floor in the process. Jenny shows no sign of letting up so rather than enduring this super effective assault, Dave seizes the opportunity, encases his free fist in Ice and gives the dragon a shattering Punch to the side of her face. Jenny flings her head back, roaring in pain from the especially effective hit, and discomfort as a thin layer of ice now coated the right side of her face.

Raising a step back, the Alakazam wastes no time in crossing his spoons and letting loose a psykenetic assault in the form of a Psywave. A total of five faint purple rings burst out and fire across the room, the last the biggest. Jenny, still recovering from her icy wake-up call, had her attention snapped back to the fight at hand as the first four rings slam into her body. She has little time to react though as the last ring makes its mark, shattering the ice on impact and knocking her hard into the dome at center of the room. Dave ends happy with his handiwork, and awaits his orders. Jenny meanwhile gets back up and tries to make some sense of everything that just hit her, but is more or less ready to continue.

Jenny took a very nasty fall from the lead this round. Overall, she is hovering a little above half. Energy use was good, and is a little better of than Dave in that department. Most of the ice on her face broke off and Swords Dance is still in effect. She is also a little dazed from the entire thing, and from Psywave after-effects.

That said and done, Dave didn't get off scotch-free either. He took a strong blow and is a good way below perfect now, but still pretty well leading the health race. Energy use was a little higher than the opponent, but only light breathing can be heard at this point. Perfectly acceptable. Calm Mind and Curse are still in effect.

ShadowShocker then Pearl's Perap!

Peral's Perap vs. Shadowshocker, Round 3 - Afterimages

Jenny shook her head a bit, trying to clear out the throbbing that was plaguing her and get a clear picture of the situation. Satisfied with the previous round, Dave goes back to that Calm Mind which was so rudely interrupted previously. Draconic Airlines finally receives a clear heading also and manages to ready herself and continue. Seeing her opponent on a one way trip to zen, Jenny steadily but quickly dashes in various places around the lab with Double Team, creating two clones for a total of three. Dave reopens his eyes to see a vaguely puzzling sight... wasn't he fighting one Gabite a second ago? Jenny roars as all three copies run in straight towards Dave, who braces for impact. A glowing claw Slashes across the sage once more, dealing some good damage and pushing him a foot or so from the force. The group of clones ease back a little at the end of the round to gain some spread.

Jenny took no damage, but is still losing the health race by a bit overall. Energy is still sitting nicely, light breathing can be heard but nothing big. Swords Dance is still in effect, disillusion from Psywave has mostly cleared up. 2 double team clones are active.

Dave took another boosted (and counteracted) Slash, but health is still a good attack over Jenny's. Energy use was a bit less than the opponent this round, so pretty equal ground there once more. Calm Mind is definitely in effect now, as is Curse.

Peral's Perap vs. Shadowshocker, Round 4 - Ice In The Engines

Jenny does as ordered and all of the clones rush in ready to Crunch down on a healthy bowl of Alakazam. The fakes fade out as she comes in and Dave takes a defensive stance, ready to Bide his time and strike. The bite comes down on his other shoulder this time, adding to his already numerous battle scars. The attack does its mark on his system, the dark energy especially, but visibly he seems quite relaxed. Jenny isn't exactly in the mood to listen to her trainer, but she doesn't like this clear lack of response from her opponent and raises (or razes-*shot*) him a Dragon Claw anyway, giving Dave a clean slice with a glowing blade. Dave sees that now is the time to strike and condenses the glowing red aura into a ball in front of him. Jenny realizes the attack a little too late as an intense red beam is fired towards her, slamming her in the chest hard and topping her over. Dave heads over to his opponent to try and finish the job with Ice Punch, charging up a fist of ice energy once again. Jenny tries to get out of the way, but nothing doing as the three-fingered fist connects with enough force to crack the tile floor beneath her...

...and it appears our organic jet aircraft has had a crash landing. It isn't going anywhere more today. After one last strained cry, the Gabite gives up the ghost, unable to continue.

Jenny is unable to battle. Pearl's Perap, send out your next Pokemon.

With boosted attacks being thrown around the place like this, Dave is beginning to looks a little ragged. Half has been passed by a little, but there is still plenty to go there. Energy use was high this round, and overall half will be reached next round most likely. Ice energy is on its last legs, not enough for another punch. Calm Mind is still active, Curse will wear off at the end of next round.

Fair enough. The Wu goes to Shadow then~!

No need to make a big thing of it though, it happens.

ShadowShocker gets 1KO and 2TP.
Pearl's Perap gets 1TP.
MCXD gets 1.25 SP (speedy reffing).

:V
