New XY Pokemon Discussion
So, Serebii has calculated the base stats of the new Pokemon and Mega Evolutions, and can I just say... lolwut?
Let us take Mega Charizard Y for example. He has a Base Special Attack of 159!!!! And that is just the beginning. Mega Gengar and Mega Alakazam's Special Attack are 170 and 175, respectively!!!! And Mega Aggron sports a Base Defense of 230!!!!!!! Moving on to the actual 'new' Pokemon, this generation has brought a bunch of 'monsters' to the table. Aegislash has an Attack and Special Attack of 150 in Blade Forme, while in Shield Forme those are his Defense and Special Defense. By no means is this just for discussing base stats. Share your opinions, how this will affect the competitive metagame and ingame progress, etc. Discuss! |

And...why do we have this thread? As long as we stuck to spoiler tags, we could discuss whatever we wanted about the competitive aspect of the game in the Comp thread. If you are going to make a thread that doesn't need spoiler tags, I guess that's fine, but make sure you tell people in the OP that this is going to contain unmarked spoilers.

Well, okay then.
These Mega Evolutions are stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid. This was precisely what I did not want to happen with Mega Evos. I didn't want them to be Uber Pokemon with the BSTs of Legendaries. Stat increases are alright...but this is insane. There isn't a doubt about it now, these new Mega Evos completely eclipse their former forms. Yeah, Charizard is cool, but who is going to want to use him when they have Mega Charizard X? M. Charizard X boasts not only a much higher Attack stat, which was an increase of about 50 Base Stats points btw, but also boasts a higher Special Attack as well! And its not a small difference either. It's a difference of 21 BS points. That's pretty bullshit. Not to mention that even given those stats, it didn't lose any defensive ability. Infact, it gained some. It's base Defense went from 78, to 111. That a huge increase. Mega Charizard X boasts a BST of 634. This is not okay Gamefreak. And I could go on and on about how they seriously goofed and are going to completely throw everything out of wack. 230 Def Mega Aggron, with Filter, and a Steel typing. You want to see some crazy fucking stats for that? Code:
252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Filter Aggron: 114-135 (33.13 - 39.24%) -- 10.5% chance to 3HKO Gamefreak has been smoking some pretty GREAT crack. Smogon isn't going to have a choice but to make a No Mega Evoultions tier. These aren't just going to over-centralize the OU metagame, they are going to over-centralize the Ubers metagame too!

Well, on a note not about crack!megas, of the pokemon I've seen, the stats have been fairly low. Tyrantrum has a pretty high attack and defense, and moderate speed. Aurorus has fairly subpar attacking stats and decent defensive stats. Heliolisk isn't all that fast and doesn't have as high special attack as I had hoped. Noivern's only plus is his speed. IMO they should have upped his special attack and/or made it Normal/Dragon. He gets Boomburst, why not give him STAB on it?

Heliolisk may not seem fast, but do notice he does outspeed one specific marker. Base 108 Speed, which means he will outpace non-CS Terrakion and Infernape.
Plus wow. The last time I saw anything on Aurorus it had like 125 Sp.Atk. Somebody must have fucked up in their calcs.

I thought that it would've AT LEAST broken 100 in something other than HP. Can you say hello NU?
And if Heliolisk could OHKO with Surf that'd be great. |

And if you are using him in Rain that shouldn't be a problem.

Or Specs. But Helioptile is awesome because the only weather team it can't go on is Hail. I wouldn't be surprised if it got Flamethrower or something along those lines for Sun.

So, I'm predicting a Sand and Hail metagame this time around, since both Tyranitar and Abomasnow got Mega Evos. Thoughts? Also, don't forget Aurorus got Snow Warning.

Aurorus is an objectively better version of Abomasnow, so it'll be interesting to see how that turns out. Both have terribad typing, though Abomasnow's is worse so. I don't think the Mega Evolution will effect too much, or at least I hope it doesn't. My hopes is that Smogon will make a Mega Evolution Tier specifically for Mega Evolution battling.
Aside from that, my prediction is that the relationship between Aurorus and Abomasnow will be similar to that of Tyranitar and Hippowdon. I'm not quite sure which one is in the Hippowdon spot though. |

The difference between Hippowdon and Abomasow/Aurorus is that Hippowdon can actually do something other than set up weather.

Y'all do realise there's been a massive weather nerf, right? According to what I've seen on Serebii, weather abilities are no longer permanent, and only last five turns.

I remember playing through DP with Staraptor and Luxray and just trolling with Intimidate switching.

Double Intimidate is a really good core. My most successful UU team has a Double Intimidate core of Arcanine and Hitmontop. And it works really well, to the point where people were impressed that I could handle so many top threats without a Steel type.

EVERYONE
I CALL UPON YOUR AID So I've been searching for a point to Zygarde for a while now. Just now I checked mine with The Judge. Outstanding potential, with 31s in HP, Attack, and Speed. I need everyone with this game who has one to check theirs out. Is karma simply giving me a massive gift for my efforts, or could it be... That Zygarde is considered a baby pokemon, thus subject to the Three Perfect IVs rule? I don't even know what to think if that's the case. My mind would be literally blown. |

In XY, captured baby pokemon will have a minimum of three stats with Max IVs. Also, any Pokemon captured in the Friend Safari have a minimum of two.
ALSO I JUST GOT HIM TO LEVEL 72 AND HE LEARNED DRAGON DANCE HE MAY HAVE SOME MERIT AFTERALL. |

As Dragon/Ground but lackin limbs it'll be pretty interesting to see how it turns out. With the base stats posted a coil set could be pulled off.

Blaze, Mega Garchomp has 170 attack and Sand Force, which beats out Landorus.
Other ridonk mega mons are Mega Blaziken with 160 attack and 100 base speed and Speed Boost, Mega Heracross with 185 base attack, Mega Gyarados who packs 95/109/130 bulk and 155 attack, just to ensure it DD sweeps, and one of my favourite cases of bullshit, Mega Tyranitar. Fighting weakness aside, this thing packs 164 attack, 150 def and 120 spec def - boosted by sand stream - and an extra 10 points in Speed. Hell, lemme check the mug's gallery of BSTs... Mega TTar: 700. Mega Mewtwo (either): 780 (Who's Arceus again?) Mega Kangaskhan: 590, but her ability basically gives her 125x2 Attack, so it's closer to 715. Mega Garchomp: 700. Ubers indeed. |

fishy, your argument would make sense if we knew that Mega Garchomp was OU. It most likely isn't going to be. Landorus-T has the strong Earthquake in OU at the moment.
