POKĂ©MON Platinum - March 22nd (US)
Nintendo of American released a list of upcoming (retail) games for their systems. And what do ya know there was Platinum coming out just a little under two years after D/P. This probably also means the updated version of My POKéMON Ranch should be released within that timeframe as well. So far the game has sold 2,066,300 copies in Japan and there is no known european release date yet.

I for one can't wait for it, I know a lot of people are going to shy away from it because it's a 'rehash' of D/P, but I think it has enough new features in it to justify a new game. Now I'm just waiting for a european release date (which because this Nintendo and Pokemon, will probably be Christmas 2009).

Can someone give me the skinny on what's new in this? I might get it if it seems like it's better, but sadly D/P had shitty endgame in regards to high level leveling and not too much stuff to do after winning.

The storyline has changed somewhat, with Giratina having a larger role in the story, inclusion of the tore world, more development and insight into Team Galactic I believe, Re-introduction of the Battle Frontier/Tower, Expanded wifi capabilities, including a new wifi community room/theme park and finally, NEW ROTOMS!

Has anyone actually seen the Torn World?
You get to walk on platforms in 3D. Sideways. But seriously, I'm highly looking forward to the game. I always snag the 'special' colors of each game trio, as they always have these nifty extra features and storyline additions in them... Platinum is no exception. Plus, the Shaymin/ Giratina form changes are pretty cool in their own right. |

I think this, as well as the other enhancements shows that Nintendo haven't just sat around on their arse waiting for D/P sales to slip before repackaging the same game. *coughEmeraldcough* There's been some real work gone into the Hybrid this time round. |

You get more variety pre-Elite 4 also. The Sinnoh Dex now goes up to 210. It includes all of the Pokemon that got new evolutions (Gligar/Tangela/etc.), and it also adds some more Fire-types (not sure if that was a bone of contention here) to the mix.

The only new fire types are Flareon and the Magby-Magmar-Magmortar line. |

Well I just got the game at midnight I can't wait to start playing I'm just waiting on deo to get home. We were actually last in line for it and I was the only girl there and all of the guys who were there made me and deo go ahead of them for it. So I guess it pays off to be a girl sometimes. Anyway I'm excited to walk on walls. Can't wait to see what that's like, it's definitely new for a pokemon game.

I think it says something about us as a fanbase when we're fucking impressed with animated sprites, 3D planes and the Pokemon actually hitting each other in the console Stadium versions.

Guess I'm just easily amused, what can I say? :p
Though from what I've seen so far the story is already a lot different and that's what is really pulling me in now. I just want to keep playing to discover what else is new and so far its practically been everything. But I am extremely early into the game. Besides it's not like I'd seriously go out and spend my money on a game just to see a sprite walk on a wall. -_-

I do too.
So far I have mixed feelings. I sort of like the difficulty upgrade though. It makes me actually have to think about my team without being like the E4 in D/P (oh wait that happens in this game too). The new 'mon placement looks promising, but the best I've seen so far is a Hoothoot. Looking forward to early-game Rotom, though. |

The old Sinnoh Dex wasn't a lot of fun (Two fire types!? That's a lack of smarts). Now, however, we get MAGNEZONE! How awesome

Unfortunately I wanted a Magmortar and Gyarados (former because it's cool, latter to DD cheese the Elite 4), so I went with Turtwig as my starter. Christ, that was stupid (LOL QUAD WEAK).

Last night I traded over a Timid Serene Grace Togetic and an Adamant Riolu with Swords Dance to use ingame so I wouldn't have to walk around only to hatch the wrong nature/trait and worry about keeping both of them happy enough to evolve. I trained both for all of five mintues until they reached level 10 and won't listen to me since I'm slowpoking and only have the Oreburgh badge right now. First time I traded Pokes from a different game over so I figured it wouldn't be that bad. >_> Oh well, at least an early ingame Rotom is waiting; I might as well use it as my token electric until I get a Magnemite. :\
Alternatively, I find the Wi-fi plaza to be a fun waste of time in the game (even though there's NOTHING SPECIAL about it) and holy crap, the GTS exploded. Too bad the recorded vs battles kinda suck. D:

The game doen't come out here until April 2 so I can't get it until then, anyway my DS is broken so I'll have to wait for my birthday in may and I'll grab both of them.

I've been playing pretty much non-stop. At Canalave after being slow and training a full team (am I the only one who does that?). Training up to fight Byron now that I was turned on to the best training spot in the game (level 23 Hapinny FTW).
Trying to train 'mon I haven't before and whatnot. Probably gonna make Plat my main game and train up for the BF. |
