Selling Items
I came to the realization today that we no longer have the ability to sell items. We used to be able to do so, but it was with the Coin Exchange, and that functionality disappeared along with.
So first, I would like to ask: Should we bring back the ability to sell items (for Pokédollars instead of coins, obviously)? Second point: What should the mechanic of selling items be? So far, I have the following suggestions:
And last but not least point: The price of items. Some will likely be easy to calculate since it's already present in stores, but items that are exclusive to zones will be more difficult to evaluate the price. Therefore, we should work together on an item list which also have how much players get in Pokédollars when selling them. Last edited by OkikuMew; 04-15-2018 at 05:47 PM. |

And speaking of personally, I would choose a combination of a new shop separate from the Department store and in-zone shops, in which in-zone shops have better prices. My arguments:

I very much like the combination idea. And as an addition, I still feel like that other shop proposal for the farm shop should have gone through instead of forcing people into a CG zone for apricorn conversion. Seems irrelevant, but it's a tie-in to my agreement with Iron that we shouldn't have to go into certain zone areas to do menial tasks - but that going to an in-zone would could come with a discount/whatever for managing it.

Ah, I see! Well in terms of the whole apricorn thing, that would go for a different conversation XP
Anyone else has a say? On a side note, whenever I'll have the time (say, during the week-end) I'll start writing up a proposition for first post of the store. |

So while writing the intro post, I thought of a question that's more or less important: Linking.
I understand that we're trying to eliminate that, however, since the pawn shop is linked to money (buying and selling), I assume that linking would be required for both buying items (obviously) but also selling items (link to where the item has been collected). Am I assuming correctly? ~~~~~~ Edit: Here's my preview for the Shop's first post! Quote:

So some people have been clamouring to get some sort of Pawn Shop implemented, so I’ll be tackling this subject and giving my opinion on it.
Big Question: What on earth is it you want to sell in the first place? To clarify: Generic cash-value items (Pearls, Nugget, etc.)? These are already allowed to be given out as rewards for zones and events. What’s more, their value is immediately assigned by the Updater with the player cashing the items in at the Pokébank. This is just easier and simpler as it removes the step of having to cash them in at a store to receive money and then cashing that money in at the Pokébank. And this system seems to work rather well. Department Store items? I don’t know why you’d buy items only to sell them again, but I suppose you might get these items from events as well and you’d rather sell them. In which case, I would actually prefer having the option of selling Department Store items be incorporated into The Department Store with a player receiving only half the value, as is customary in most games. Other items? This is going to open up a whole new can of worms. Some of the oldFB items have no use anymore in newFB, so I can understand people wanting to find a use for them in newFB. But as some items affect only a small amount of people, it would be difficult to decide the prices – or to put it differently – decide how much each player should be compensated for their oldFB items. I for instance still have a Glitter Shard. How much are you willing to compensate me for it? If the Casino coin discussion is any indication, players are not going to get a one-time offer to get rid of items they kept from oldFB. And what happens to the shop after the initial wave of sellers? These items have no use in FB which is why you’re not going to see updaters or events give out shards or TCG cards anymore. So what use would a Pawn Shop have after everyone got rid of their oldFB items? Let’s not also forget that we sometimes come up with new mechanics that make use of these old items. The Heart Scales are a good example of this. People are not going to be happy to get rid of their items only to find out they would have had a use later on. ----- So here’s my proposal: 1. Anything with a pre-assigned cash value in FB (Department Store Items and TMs) can be sold at the respective shop for half its original value. I think it would be unfair to compare this merger with that of the Rare Candies-Gummis. Exceptions can be made for things such as Rotom appliances and Oricorio nectar for which special rules are already in place. This way, you can get a little more use out of an item you receive from an event but don’t want. 2. Cash-specific items (Pearls, Nuggets, etc.) can be cashed in at the Pokébank as always. Updater decides the value of the items beforehand. 3. Items that exist in newFB but have no assigned cash value, can not be sold. If there’s an item for which you want to make an exception, then we’ll discuss each case individually in this chat. 4. Items that only exist in oldFB can not be sold or used in any way. If there’s an item for which you want to make an exception, then we’ll discuss each case individually in this chat. ----- Which brings me to one other thing I want to clarify: Quote:
We just simply weren’t interested in setting up a new shop for apricorn conversion that was going to be used for 1 week by everyone with an apricorn and would then sit around gathering dust because no one wants to/has to give out apricorns in the first place. Same goes for any other item from oldFB: we’re not necessarily interested in continuing its use in new FB, but if you have a good idea of how to use them anew, or give them a new use (like we did with Heart Scales) then you’re free to suggest that and we can look into it. ----- Bottom line: I am not interested in setting up a new shop just to sell items. Please clarify first (1)what items you’re planning to sell in the first place, (2)what value you want to give it and (3)why it should be sellable in the first place.

Honestly the biggest ones for me are base items and trading cards. Now to be transparent this doesn’t affect me super personally as the only ones of these types I got back when they were a thing were from holiday events, but I do know that there were quite a few people that invested quite a bit into base items and trading cards. Now maybe i might be the only one concerned about this and these people aren’t concerned (or maybe this was dealt with when we transferred over from coins and I missed that part) but if I had invested as much time and money as I had seen other people I know I would be annoyed. Now I don’t expect a ton of money to come from these but I would assume they would be like 25-50% of what they costed in old!FB

As someone who spent a ton of money/coins on base expansions and items in old!FB I'm perfectly okay with the fact they they are all completely free now and don't think there should be any compensation for them. It'd just be a huge pain to track them down and process them honestly, because since base decor is free, what's to stop you from selling a previously-purchased item and then going right back and re-using it in your base for free?

In the case of base items, I got links to where I acquired each and every item, but I got no problem with not being compensated for them. If anything, I'd be more interested in compensation for all the TCG stuff, but I won't push too much for it if I end up in the minority on this- odds are I'll have to dig up a lot of old BMG and Serebii links, and unless the compensation is unrealistically good, I likely won't deem it worth my while to even do that.
But yeah- those are the only old!FB items I'd want to sell. I have a Soot Sack that's been empty since I had a Blue Flute made, but I'd imagine a sack would have other uses, and I've already proven once before that expired event Pokéblocks can be surprisingly useful in the right situations, so yeah. |

I just want to be able to sell custom items. I don't use them, so when I get them in an event they just sort of stagnate in my inventory. I'd even take a flat rate for all custom FB items -- say, Ą500?
