For me thinking about the anime makes me realize how old Pokemon is.
When you actually realize how long the anime has been airing (18 years), and how Misty has retroactively become a short-lived character whose only in about 35% of the animes total episodes. I find it quite amusing Misty was originally in every single episode of the anime and she went from that to becoming a short-lived and minor character whose been gone for like 70% of the animes run. Its hard to believe there was once a time people thought of Misty as some permanent character in the series. LOL. Also the fact that there's now 18 pokemon movies, and you remember seeing the first movie in theaters and thinking they wouldn't make any more after that. |

In fairness, the title including the words 'The First Movie' should have been a giveaway there.

I rather think that's a sign that you're old.

Teenagers were posting on AVGN's channel that the Wii -- not the N64, not the GameCube, the Wii -- was, quote, "ancient." (The Wii turns 9 this season.) Considering Pokémon's as old in Japan as the N64 is abroad (1995), or that it's older abroad by three years than the GameCube is internationally ('98 vs. 2001) ... Hell, considering Pokémon Gold and Silver are older than the GameCube ...

I think what also makes us original fans feel old are the kids who grew up with Gen III or Gen IV are now in their late teens or 20's. Think about it, if you were 10 back in 2002/2003 when the Hoenn gen came out, you would be 23 years old right now.
Its actually hard to believe Hoenn is now 13 years old. A lot of people don't consider anything after Gen 1 and 2 to be "old" but I guess now that viewpoint is changing with Gen III being 13 years old and DP being nearly a decade old itself. Time passing is a funny thing. Hoenn and DP still feel recent to me in terms of when they came out, but it really has been a decade for both. |

The games here in the U.S. Are exactly my age, give or take a few days. I'm 17, and have been for over a month. Feeling old yet?
