Kecleon Heart of the Valley - Jeri's Cavern Base

Nestled among the peaks of the Volcanic Mountains, a small cavern carved out by ancient flows has been converted into a small base. Once the training ground of a young wandering trainer, it was left abandoned for a time only to fall into the hands of Jeri Chih, who has adopted it as his base of operations.

Chansey Biographies

Trainer: Jerald "Jeri" Chih║TID: 88620║Age: 22║Height: 6'1"║Weight: 190 lbs
Spoiler: show
Jeri is a native of the Southern Hoenn Archipelago, living amongs the log bridges and plank islands of Pacifdlog. His mother was a research anthropologist studying the decedents of the ancient tribes that lived in the Archipelago. She married one of the members of this tribe and settled in Pacifdlog, making it the base for her continued research. A year later, they bore their only son, Jeri. Between his mother's research and his father's cultural heritage as a member of a tribe who used to worship Raquaza, Jeri spent a significant amount of time exploring the nearby islands and the ruins they held. He received his first Pokémon, a Kecleon he named Koi, given to him for his 12th birthday by his uncle, a Devon Researcher who caught the Pokémon during preliminary tests of the Devon Scope. The very next year, he left to start his Pokémon journey, traveling around Hoenn and collecting badges. After besting the Hoenn Gym Challenge, he continued to the other National Leagues, making waves in the Sinnoh and Indigo Leagues and eventually, Unova. He was noted as one of the few trainers to start from scratch in every league, carrying only his Kecleon through to the next league and training a new team of regional Pokémon wherever he went.
Having built some notoriety through his Gym Challenges, Jeri begun to participate in the International Competitive Circuit, playing in tournaments with his diverse squad of Pokémon. He further made a name for himself, competing during his late teens and early 20's. However, he found his fortune and fame were fleeting, as a new generation of competitors came to prominence, knocking him from the spotlight with new strategies and new Pokémon. Dethroned and dejected, he spent the greater part of a year wandering aimlessly around his native Hoenn.

A month before his 21st birthday, Jeri met Tetsu, a young trainer who was traveling through Hoenn with a small party and few clear aims. The two met in the Slateport Battle Tent, a spot Jeri would frequent to survey the new, hopeful trainers who took the mini Frontier Challenge. Tetsu had mistaken the tent for a visitors center and wandered in, quite clearly lost. He took pity on Tetsu, showing him around Slateport. With Jeri seeking companionship and Tetsu seeking a guide, the two quickly decided to travel together, spending the next month exploring parts of Hoenn off the beaten path. In this short time, they formed a strong and trusting friendship. During their travels, Tetsu described the land of Fizzytopia, the massive chain of continents distant from the central Pokémon Nation, where Pokémon lived freely and in great numbers among otherworldly and breathtaking scenery. But one day, Tetsu disappeared, leaving behind a letter and all his belongings, including his accounts, base and Pokémon.

Jeri would later come to learn from multiple instances of harassment from the authorities that he had been under investigation by Immigration Services of Fizzytopia for assumption of a false identity. The agents had informed him that Tetsu was never properly registered with the Fizzytopian Authorities, and was technically operating under the name and ID of a since deceased trainer named Rigar. Despite the questionable legality of the transfers Tetsu conducted before his flight, the authorities decided to overlook it (to spare them the paperwork and money spent on processing his belongings and Pokémon), leaving Jeri with everything Tetsu had owned.
Recalling the stories Tetsu told of the fantastical landscapes of Fizzytopia, the childhood desire for adventure reawoken in Jeri, and the next day, he packed his bags and took the first boat out. Due to the messiness of the transfers and the strict immigration laws imposed by Immigration, Jeri was forced to leave his variety of Pokémon behind, adopting Tetsu's team as his own with hopes of bonding with his experienced members while finding some new friends of his own.

Bios to come...

Re: Tetsu's Training Ground

Tetsu stood on the far end of the plateau outside of his base, poised and ready. In front of him stood a Grumpig in a long black coat, a hood covering his nearly completely white pearls. Snowball 9 the Snorunt sat innocently in front of them both, staring blankly at the swine facing him.

"All right, let's get this started!" Tetsu exclaimed. "Snowy, you ready?" The sprite nodded and gave a "Sno." of approval.

"Saix, start things off with some Psywaves!"

The Grumpig put his hands to the sides of his head, and three circles of Psychic energy suddenly burst into the air. Snowy shifted to his left, and quickly fired off a large ball of water, which Saix barely avoided.

"Don't be thrown off by his attacks! Psybeam!"

Immediatly, both fired off beams, Saix loosing a rainbow-colored beam, and Snowy firing a lightning bolt-shaped beam of sparkling ice energy. Both beams canceled each other out in midair, causing a small explosion of dust and a whoosh of wind.

"Try a Confuse Ray!"

With a short nod, Saix sent a flash of light at Snowy, but he quickly closed his eyes and blindly fired a flurry of icicles, which hit the pig rapidly, tearing a small bit of the fabric near the bottom of his coat and leaving a small gash in the sleeve.

"Extrasensory!"

Desperately, Saix tried to fool with Snowy's senses, and for the most part, it worked. Snowy stopped in his tracks, and his face twisted up with displeasure. However, he broke through it, and, to Saix's surprise, he was met by an icy blast of fierce wind. His coat became covered with small flakes of snow, and he was throughly chilled.

Saix stood still for nearly 15 seconds, then suddenly charged at Snowy, greatly enraged. He pulled back an arm, and thrust it at the Snorunt. But before he could make contact, Tetsu yelled.

"Saix! Stop!"

Saix froze in his tracks, his fist now against a wall of ice, about to shatter it. Snowy stood behind it, scrunched up as small as he could manage, ready to protect himself further if need be. Saix gave a long, hard snort, withdrew his fist, and turned towards Tetsu. Angrily, he glared daggers at Tetsu, and then disappeared in a flash.

"Snowy, are you ok?" Tetsu asked, running over to him.

Snowy nodded as he tapped the screen of ice lightly with his small fist, shattering it.

"He's been acting really strange lately. I've never seen him do this."

-+-+-+-

Saix appeared in a cave, throwing back his hood, and walked up to a wall on the cave, which looked like a dead end. He placed his hand upon the wall, and it suddenly began to glow with a strange symbol resembling an upside-down heart with a Greek cross that ended in what looked like thorns. The wall flashed briefly with a blue-white light, and a large part of the wall disappeared, revealing a large cavern.

The room was filled with blue ethereal light from strange candles which were hung from stalagmites which formed a large circle in the middle of the room. The floor was also engraved with the symbol from the wall.

"Luxord! Larxene!" he shouted.

A scarred rodent and golden cactus appeared in front of him, both draped in cloaks identical to his, but altered to fit their bodies.

"Ah, there you are Saix. I need you to..."

"No. I'm not going to do whatever you want me to do."

Luxord was shocked. Saix had never defied him like this. "Yes you will. You will do what I command."

"I came here to get my claymore. Where the hell is it?"

"What did you say?"

"I said, I want my fucking claymore."

"Impudent fool. Never speak to your superiors that way!" Luxord lunged at Saix, pushing him up against a stalagmite. The air was hot with rage, and Larxene was quite shocked at this. Luxord and Saix had never fought like this, at least to her knowledge.

Saix let out a loud, angry grunt as both leered at each other, anger filling their eyes. Suddenly, Luxord was pushed away by an invisable force, sent skidding backwards, until he came to a stop two yards away from the swine. Saix landed on the ground, unharmed, and continued to exchange an intense glare with Luxord. At the peak of his anger, Luxord raced fiercely at Saix, but the moment the rodent got within a foot of him, he teleported a yard to his right.

"Fine, I'll get the fucking thing myself." Saix teleported away, leaving Luxord standing in the cold cave, breathing rapidly, as Larxene watched, somewhat shocked at this sudden turn of events.

A minute later, Saix reappeared, a large weapon in his hand. The claymore was long and slender, shining a pearly white in the blue dancing light of the cave. The end bore a yellow version of the upper portion of the insignia on the floor, surrounded by a blue halo which reflected the thorn-like design.

"I don't know about you bastards, but I'm going back to the base. Come if you want, but don't bother me." And with a grunt, he teleported out of the cave.

"That bastard!" Luxord shouted in rage, slamming his tail into the stalagmite pillar next to him, shattering the soft stone.

"Larxene, we are going." Luxord ordered, teleporting out. Larxene paused for a moment, and followed suit.

Re: Tetsu's Training Ground

Kris' shoes crunched heavily over the dry, barren earth. She was slouching miserably, consumed by the region's smothering heat, and all she could think of as she plodded along at hear meager and ever slowing pace was that she was going to kick so very serious ass when she found Larxene.

It had been two or so weeks since her Cacnea...er...Cactune had disappeared with warning, accompanied by a batter Raichu and a Grumpig of the most peculiar nature. It had taken her some time--though she had never really given it hard thought to begin with--to figure out quite where she had seen the increasingly familiar Pokemon before, and it had only hit her that morning that they were the unruly companions of one of her so-called friends. She had been on foot for hours, trekking the arduous trail between the Mansion and the Mountains with only brief monorail rides to ease her ever-aching feet. She was hot, tired, hungry, and not-too-happy.

In the distance she could see the winding mountain trail branch out into a wide plateau overlooking the valley bellow. A young man sat knealt beside a Snorunt, both of which looked rather concerned, not that Kris particularly cared what with her current foul mood.

"TETSU YOU BASTARD!!!", she screamed, her high-pitched voice like nails on a chalkboard. She broke into a run, screaming several more incomprehensible obscenities before collapsing without much warning a few feet from him, panting like an old dog. She gurgled a little, and waved her hand almost accusingly at him, though all that came from her mouth were guttoral moans.

Re: Tetsu's Training Ground

Tetsu was absolutely flabbergasted at the sudden appearance of his friend Kris, who immediately began shouting swears at him the moment she saw him. Desperately sprinting towards him, he wasn't sure whether to run or ask if she was ok. He opted for neither of the options as Kris collapsed in front of him, gasping and moaning.

"Uh," Tetsu started, not sure what to do, "Is everything ok, Kris?"

Just then, Luxord appeared near the base, and Tetsu got the feeling that he was behind all of this.

"Hold that thought," Tetsu started, holding out a hand as he stood up. "Luxord!"

The Raichu turned towards his trainer with an angry look. Tetsu ran over to him, matching Luxord's look with an annoyed look of his own.

"Luxord, have you been doing something to her Pokemon?" Tetsu interrogated.

"Yes. Yes I have. I've been training Larxene, her Cacturn." he responded in his hissing English.

"What have you done to her?"

"Oh, nothing, Tetsu-sama."

"Where is she?"

"Just over yonder." Luxord pointed to a tall unmoving figure who stood a few feet away from them, hidden by a large boulder. "Larxene, show yourself." he ordered, this time talking normally.

The Cacturn stepped out from behind the rock, dropping her hood and revealing a golden head.

"Now, I must go." he was speaking to Tetsu in English again. He immediately teleported away to who-knows-where.

Re: Tetsu's Training Ground

Kris drug herself up off the ground just as Larxene stepped out from behind the large, jagged rock. She breathed a sigh of relief and lurched forward, happy to see that her Pokemon was okay.

"Larxene...", she murmured, reaching out to hug her Pokemon. She stopped short in her tracks however as Larxene's thick clubbed arm swung, just barely missing Kris' head by inches. The girl stumbled back a bit and Larxene quickly closed in, thick, blood red spikes grazing her trainer's stomach, ripping at her black blouse and exposing a tiny trickle of blood where one of the many sharp points had torn the flesh. The wound was minor but Kris was horrified, scurrying backwards as fast as her legs would carry until she slammed with some force into the rock cliffing behind her. Choking, she looked up just as her Pokemon tower in front of her, eyes narrow and remorseless.

"Larxene...", she choked, just as the Cacturne raised her arm again, poised to strike without mercy.

Re: Tetsu's Training Ground

As Larxene raised her arm, the moon rose on the horizon, full and white.

Suddenly, Larxene was knocked back and flew a good ten yards straight into a boulder. Everyone turned to find the source of the immense power which just flung a Cacturn a good 30 feet.

Saix was standing in the center of the plateau, hood down, pearls pure white, shining in the moonlight. His eyes glowed with the same white intensity as his pearls. His breathing was heavy and slow, and he held his claymore in his right hand. Saix rose his free arm, and a dark crescent shape formed on each shining gem. Instantly, Larxene was ripped from her landing place, and was placed in front of Saix. The moment her feet touched ground, she fell over in excruciating pain, gripping her head and writhing about.

"Saix! Stop this now!" Tetsu screamed, "Don't hurt her! I don't care what she's done but you will not hurt her!"

Saix turned towards Tetsu, and, without any thought on the manner, shot a gigantic Psychic blast at the trainer.

In an instant, there was a large explosion, and dust flew through the air. There was an audible gasp from somewhere, but there was too much smoke and dust to tell exactly where it originated. When the smoke cleared, Snowy was in front of Tetsu with a large solid screen of ice in front of him. The screen shattered into thousands of shards, and Snowy fell limply into Tetsu's arms, battered and exhausted.

For a long time, Saix stood unmoving. Tetsu started to cry. A single tear rolled down his face, and fell upon Snowy's weak form, causing a small stain on his mineral-based outer skin.

Saix was extremely confused. The person who was good to him was being attacked by this fiend. And Tetsu wanted to stop him from punishing her! It was unthinkable!

...But...

Tetsu was his trainer. And, although it didn't seem like it, he had given him a chance. He was not the one who made him this way. It was...

Before Saix could finish his thought, he collapsed on the ground. His pearls became black again without a trace of white, and he suddenly lost consciousness. However, right before he did, three egg-shaped blobs of energy fell onto the ground beside him. Softboiled eggs, the only thing that he could tie to his days as a Spoink. They had a magical power to heal whatever wound or ailment that one had, especially if they are being given out of love and caring. He knew that it was more important to help those who he cared for then to get back at the one who did him wrong.

Tetsu slowly raised his head. Both Larxene and Saix lay on the ground, out cold. Tetsu ran over to the fallen Pokemon, and bent down, setting Snowy gently on the cool dusty ground. He took a long look at Saix, who's pearls were reflecting the moonlight brilliantly.

"Do not fret, Tetsu-sama." Luxord hissed as he approached his fallen co-members, "He shall awaken once the moon sets. As for her though, feed her an egg. I still require her services."

Tetsu glared daggers at Luxord. "We'll talk later. For now, go and make sure that Will and Matt haven't destroyed the base."

Luxord grimaced, and turned away, heading for the base.

Tetsu picked up one of the eggs, which was about the size of a basketball. It felt warm to the touch, and it radiated a calm and refreshing feeling. He placed it upon Snowy, and it started to sink into him. His wounds healed, and, when the egg had completely gone, he woke up. He took the next egg and placed it upon Larxene. The egg did the same to her, but it did not wake her up. Instead, she lay there, semi-conscious, as if she were in a deep sleep. He held up the last one and looked at it for a moment.

"Hey, Kris!" he called, "You might want this."

Re: Tetsu's Training Ground

Kris watched in horror as Larxene was ripped into the air, falling many yards away with a guttural groan. Before she would even respond, she was pulled through the air again, collapsing in front of Saix as a horrible, searing pain coursed through her entire being. Meanwhile, all Kris could do was sob almost dryly, watching in horror was a psychic explosion ripped through the air. There was a shattering sound, and as smoke and dust mingled with the shards of ice that danced in the warm evening air, all fell silent for a moment. Snow collapsed in his trainer's arms, and a moment later, Saix followed suit, sinking to the ground, leaving only three egg shapes in his wake.

Back still pressed to the stone facing, Kris watched as Tetsu administered the first healing orb to Snowy. He then gave the second to Larxene, who didn't stir. Tears welling in her eyes she stood and lurched forward unsteadily, bolting right past the other trainer as spoke to offer her the third egg.

Collapsing by her Pokemon, ignoring her own own wound which was still seeping lightly with thick blood, she gathered the Cacturne in her arms. for all the abuse she had suffered at the hands of Larxene, she still regardless loved her, even if, it seemed, Larxene would rather spill the girl's innards. Gently, she shook the golden cactus shape, repeating her name over and over. Larxene stirred very slightly, her low, sultry voice groaning as the last fleeting wisps of pain wracked her body before eventually giving way to the healing energy. She opened her eyes to see Kris' tear stained face, and for a moment the Pokemon's chest ached as the vaguest hint of regret flitted her psyche. Kris collapsed and hug her Pokemon tight, and Larxene didn't stir, waiting until Kris eventually broke away and stood before climbing to her own feet. She felt hollow, and a little confused. She did not like her 'trainer', and abhorred the idea of such a creature having any control over her, but at the same time, couldn't stomach the idea of breaking away. Kris was the only thing that had ever shed tears over her.

Head hung, the Cacturne slowly lifted her hood over her head. without so much and a grunt, she turned her back to the trainers and the remaining glimpses of chaos that lay scattered about the plateau, and simply walked off, feeling that she needed time to reevaluate the situation. Kris furrowed her brows but didn't object, instead turning to Tetsu with an almost sad look. After reassuring herself that him and Snowy were both at least in one piece, she shifted and walked over to where Saix' unconscious form lay. Kneeling beside him, she picked up his body, and shot a glance at Tetsu once more.

"We can't leave him out here. Do you have a place we could lay him?"

Re: Tetsu's Training Ground

Tetsu watched as Kris held the Pokemon which nearly ripped her to shreds a moment ago as if she were her child. Tetsu felt a mixture of sadness, relief and anger, but, for the moment, all he could do was sit there, hand upon Snowy's head, and watch the girl and her Pokemon together in the moonlight. Kris set down her Cacturn once again, and Larxene got to her feet, replacing her hood on her head. Kris's face was tear stained and greatly saddened, but she did not object when Larxene turned the other way and walked off.

Kris picked up Saix's limp body off the cold dusty ground, and looked at Tetsu.

"We can't leave him out here. Do you have a place we could lay him?" she asked.

"Yeah, I have a bed inside the base. Come with me." Tetsu stood and picked up Snowy, placing him on his shoulders. "Here," he started, "I'll take Saix." Tetsu held out his hands and took the pig from Kris.

Both trainers started to walk towards the base at a slow pace, as the entrance wasn't horribly far and Saix seemed to be all right; even if he was out cold, his breathing was normal and he didn't have a cut on him.

The two trainers entered the base. Tetsu went to the room farthest back in the base, passing Luxord sitting on the couch with Will and Matt, who were watching cartoons on the TV. He deposited Saix on the bed.

"Snowy," he started, "Can you look over Saix for the night? I need to talk with Luxord a little."

Snowy nodded dutifully, and hopped onto the bed, sitting down next to the unconscious swine. Tetsu walked over to the couch, putting his hands on the back.

"Sorry to interrupt, but I need to talk to Luxord for a second." Tetsu said in a kind and polite manner, although kind and polite was the exact opposite of how he was feeling at the moment.

Luxord patted Will's and Matt's heads, neither of which really payed attention, one being too wrapped up in the television, the other one asleep. Luxord stood, and wore a very patronizing face as he turned towards Tetsu.

"Yes, Tetsu-sama?" he asked in the most innocent way he could manage.

"Come on, Luxord. I need to talk with you." Tetsu's tone became more angry.

---

Outside, Tetsu and Luxord stood face-to-face. Tetsu looked absolutely furious, while Luxord still wore the same facade.

"What have you been doing to those two?" Tetsu interrogated angrily.

"Simply training them, Tetsu-sama." Luxord replied innocently.

"In what?"

"Oh, just how to use their abilities as best as they can."

"Then what was with Saix's beserk?"

"I don't have the faintest idea what you are speaking of."

Tetsu's anger rose. "You know what I'm talking about. Saix just beat the shit out of Kris's Cacturn. I have a feeling you're behind it all, and the pearl thing too."

"Well, it may be my doing, but there is nothing you can do about it now." Luxord smirked. "The curse which was placed upon him is engraved into him through evolution. On every full moon, this will happen, and there is no knowing what he will do."

"Now," Luxord turned back towards the base, "I must go and watch after William and Matthew as I was instructed to."

With that, Luxord walked inside, leaving Tetsu alone in front of his base.

Re: Tetsu's Training Ground

Kris leaned against the cool stone wall of the base, watching silently as Luxord entered the room. As he passed by her without so much as a glance in her direction she moved forward, her foot landing heavily on the end of his tail. She leaned in close from behind him, lips moving in a hiss barely an inch from his pointed, tattered ear.

"You think you're something else, don't you? You quite get off on corrupting and abusing everything around you. It's okay. Live it up."

She reached out, and smoothed the fur on his head, her touch mocking.

"You'll get what's coming to you someday."

Her expressed was icy as she straightened herself and moved away from Luxord, releasing his tail. Silently, she turned, and slip outside to join Tetsu, looking and feeling quite as sour as the look on both their faces.

Re: Tetsu's Training Ground

As Luxord entered the base, he felt a hard foot come down upon his tail. Closing his eyes to try and stifle the pain, he turned his head enough to see where the stomp came from. He took a short glance at the perpetrator, who was right in his face at this point. That girl. Larxene's provider... he thought, eyes narrowing again.

"You think you're something else, don't you? You quite get off on corrupting and abusing everything around you. It's okay. Live it up." She hissed in his ear.

She mockingly smoothed his somewhat messy fur.

"You'll get what's coming to you someday."

She let go of his tail, and turned away, exiting the base. Luxord whipped his lighting bolt-shaped appendage around to the front, rubbing it to try and reduce the pain.

He walked up to the couch, his expression and personality changing completely.

"All right, you two. Time to sleep." he told the two small rodents on the couch.

Will gave an "awwwww...", but Matt was already asleep. As Luxord picked up the two rodents, he thought, I need to be more careful. If this happens again, I'm afraid of how it could end. What I'm more concerned about is these two... But there is nothing I can do now.

---

Tetsu shook his head. "I don't know what's wrong with him. Ever since he was attacked by Kazu at the Bar, he's been acting really cold. It's such a stark contrast from the cheery little Pikachu he used to be." Tetsu sighed. "I really don't know what to do anymore."

"I'm sorry for all the trouble he's caused you, Kris. It might not seem like it, but even he's got some goodness left in him. I get so angry at him, but when I see him with Will and Matt, I'm not sure what to think anymore."

Re: Tetsu's Training Ground

Kris waved her hand in the air as she listened to Tetsu speak. He had barely gotten the words out of his mouth when she interjected.

"Look, I'm no stranger to fucked up Pokemon. You've met my team; you know that my life is one big moral struggle with a slew of completely daft creatures. I can forgive Luxord for whatever slight he may have against the people around him but I'm telling you, if you don't put your foot down, he's going to go too far! You SAW what happened. Me, you, and Snowy all nearly died and in the end it's that damned Raichu that is the ultimate cause of it. You can't EXCUSE him for this."

She sighed, and ran her hand over her stomach. The wound has since stopped bleeding but her shirt was all but ruined, and it only added to her overall air of annoyance at the evening.

"I don't even know if Larxene will come home after this.", she muttered with a sigh. "This is rediculous..."

Renewal, Pt. 1

Clouds of dust rolled across the empty valley, creating small cyclones that danced across the parched, blackened ground. Ash wafted gently like snow, dusting the ground with a soft layer of gray soot. The sun shone feebly through the ashy clouds, casting a dim haze over the volcanic landscape. From an alcove hidden among the rocks, a cloaked figure emerged, no taller than a few feet, a long, lash like tail sweeping from below the thick, leathery fabric. Pulling back its hood, the Raichu revealed its face, worn and tattered, mouth fixed into a scowl. It cast its gaze skyward, ears twitching as it focused intently.

With the heavy cover of cloud and ash, it was nearly impossible to see, but a small outline of a cloud - whiter than the others - and a small crack of blue was just barely visible on the horizon. It was swiftly approaching. The Raichu smirked, sparks dancing on its cheeks.

"They're back," the Raichu spoke, voice hoarse and gruff.

Pulling up his cloak again, he swept into the cave, disappearing in an instant.

~~~
Even with his Go-Go Goggles, Jeri still couldn't fight the urge to squint as the powerful wind laced with dust and ash whipped at his face. The Pacifidlog native was hardly used to the dry and dusty climate of the Volcanic Mountains, but it wasn't exactly his choice to be there. For him, it was more of an obligation. He was happy to do it, but if he had more of a choice, he would definitely not be in such a barren place. Why someone would chose to live here was beyond him, but he figured he'd get used to it, eventually. Before he could get to that, however, he'd have to find the place first.
The directions he had been given were vague, but thus far, he had manged to locate the general area where he was supposed to be. Thankfully, he had a little additional guidance, and had managed to make his way into the inner valley in only a couple hours.
"Nimbus!" he called, looking up into the foggy sky, "Are we close?"
From above a plucky Altaria cooed, flapping his wings gently and descending, coming into view. He flew a little farther off, showing the way. Shifting his pack and adjusting his goggles, Jeri pressed on. After only a few moments, he had to stop, his pack rustling violently. Whipping it off his back, he set it on the ground, a little hatted Pokémon popping out.
"Snowy!" Jeri exclaimed, "Are you sure you don't want to go back in your ball?" Jeri plucked a garish Christmas-colored ball from his belt, holding it out.
The Snorunt shook no, chirping and holding his stubby arms out, requesting for Jeri to let him perch on his shoulder. Jeri had learned the Snow Hat's quirks and tendencies over the past few months, quickly bonding and gaining the shy Pokémon's trust. One of the stranger quirks, however, is his insistence to stay outside his Poké Ball and on Jeri's shoulder. Though he didn't mind the company, Snorunt aren't exactly light.
Sighing, he heaved Snowy onto his shoulder, the little icicle gripping skillfully and letting his feet dangle freely. Jeri swung his pack over his other shoulder, patting Snowy's straw-colored head as he continued on.
Only a few moments and a few yards later, Jeri finally saw it.
"That's it! It has to be." Jeri sighed in relief, setting down Snowy and his bag once again. Nimbus, who was circling overhead, came to land in the dust, grooming his wings and shaking off a fine layer of soot. Snowy shuffled on ahead, going right up to the entrance of the base with no reservations. He poked in, looking around the dark cave.
"Looks like no one's home..." Jeri remarked as he entered behind Snowy, a little relieved to see that it hadn't been taken over by a family of Aron, "I guess that this is our now?"
Snowy nodded, scuttling over to a small table just beyond the entrance. Shimmying up one of its legs, he began to fuss with the many plush toys on top of it, dusting off the ashes that had built up.
"It's a little dark in here, isn't it?" Jeri remarked, reaching for a pair of Poké Balls on his belt. Expanding them, he tossed them out, releasing a pair of tiny mice, one with red cheeks, ears and a red plus-shaped tail, and the other, nearly identical, but with blue where there was red and a truncated, bar-shaped tail.
"Plusle plus!" cried Will, jumping about upon being released from his ball. Matt, his Minun brother, stayed relatively quiet, taking note of where he was.
"Matt, Will, can you give us some light?"
Both of the electric rodents nodded, their cheeks glowing faintly, casting a dim glow across the base. The living space in the base was rather small, no bigger than an average one-room apartment, with walls of bluish stone carved somewhat roughly into the side of the mountain. It was fairly well equipped for relatively comfortable living, with a small couch, one-person bed and a television, complete with gaming console, which seemed be powered by some hidden external power source. Jeri found a main power switch and flicked it on, causing a long string of work lights to illuminate the rooms. With better lighting, he noticed a few more plush toys strewn about the base. Some of them he presumed to be Snowy's, but a few large golem-like toys were far too large to be of any use or interest to the little Snorunt, and likely were collected by the previous owner of the base.
"Well, it's not ideal, but it's... homey. At the very least it'll serve as a decent base of operations, though I can't say the location is exactly ideal."
Jeri plopped down on the couch, causing a cloud of ashy dust to rise up. He coughed a little, fanning the air as it settled, and tried to turn on the TV. The screen flickered on shortly - clearly receiving power - but sputtered off. Raising an eyebrow, he prodded it again, getting much the same results. After another couple attempts, he managed to turn it on, but all he got was static and a strange, haunting sizzle. Thinking it not to be worth fooling with, he tried to turn it off, but this time, he had the opposite issue as before. No matter how many times he mashed the power button, it stubbornly stayed fizzling with static. He stood, went to the back and pulled the plug. The TV didn't turn off.
Feeling a little creeped out, he backed away from the TV, falling into the settee again, kicking up another cloud of dust. After another fit of coughing and watering eyes, he looked back at the TV, only to find a sentient plasma wisp bursting from the screen.
~~~

"Who is this man?" the Raichu scowled.

In an adjacent cavern, the cloaked Pokémon sat on a small outcropping, tail flicking deliberately and angrily. Another figure of roughly the same height replied.

"I do not know. But I believe him to know of Tetsu. The Snorunt he traveled with and the Altaria he followed do resemble those in the possession of Tetsu."

"Do you think he could have stolen them?" the Raichu asked.

"Unlikely. The Snorunt seemed too intimate with him for it to be anything but willing."

"Very well. Saďx, scope out the situation further and report back."

"Right away," the figure named Saďx replied.

"Demyx, locate the others."

A third figure, the tallest of the group, nodded in accordance, sinking into the shadows.

The Raichu continued to sit and scour, tail flicking rhythmically back and forth.

~~~
Jeri got to his feet, brushing himself off and righting the overturned loveseat. When he stood, he noticed the source of the strange disturbances.
"A Rotom! I've never seen one of these in person!"
He flipped out his Pokédex, which quickly scanned and begun to rattle off information.
"ROTOM, the Plasma Pokémon. Its body is composed of plasma. It is known to infiltrate electronic devices and wreak havoc."
"I wonder if its wild..." Jeri thought aloud, but before he had a chance to make that determination, it went darting about once again, zooming wildly around the base.
"Snowy! Stop it! Go for an Icy Wind!"
The Snorunt perked up, dropping the Pichu plush he was cleaning and releasing a burst of cold air. The wisp, however, simply darted right past it, heading straight for the string of lights. One by one, the light bulbs fizzled and burst, creating a shower of sparks as the tiny shards of glass flew everywhere. The base was thrown into darkness once again.
Jeri flinched, throwing his hands up to protect his face. When the sparks faded, he looked around again, unable to locate the wisp. It seemed nowhere to be found, but Jeri squinted hesitantly in the darkness, watching for any signs of movement. He heard a crash and clamor behind him, turning to see the source of the noise. Just as he did, something slammed him upside the head. He fell to the floor once again, quickly flipping over to see what hit him. The gaming console was suddenly floating in midair, its controllers floating ominously like monstrous tendrils. Another controller went flying towards him, but this time, he reacted swiftly enough, causing it to smack into the soft dirt floor.
Instinctively, he reached for his belt, pulling another ball and pitching it towards the possessed system.
"Ai! Disable!" he shouted.
In a burst of sparkling light, a small chameleon-like creature appeared, holding its hands up defensively. Mid-swing the console froze and dropped to the ground. It struggled slightly, but quickly settled. When Ai dropped her hands, the Rotom burst from the cube, fizzing and jittering angrily. It released a burst of electric waves. Jeri responded quickly, "Ai, Magic Coat, now!"
The Kecleon began to glow a rainbow of colors, the coat of energy shimmering as the waves made contact. They immediately bounced back, battering the Rotom. Suddenly, its eyes glazed over and it locked up, drifting to the ground.
"Good, Shadow Claw!"
Ai cloaked her claw in a long tendril of shadowy energy, swiping at the tiny ghost. It released a sizzling screech, suddenly jolting back into action. Before Jeri or Ai could react, the Rotom released another series of Thunder Waves, this time successfully paralyzing the Kecleon.
"Ai!" Jeri yelped, scrambling to his feet and rushing to her. With his bag in the next room, he had no way of curing the Kecleon of her status. "Good job, Ai, come back for now. You'll get another chance soon."
He pressed the tab on her ball, sucking her back in with a burst of red light. Replacing her ball, he grabbed the last occupied one on his belt, tossing it out. In another shimmering display of light, a decidedly purple Quagsire appeared. She gave a hefty sigh, shaking slightly to limber up.
"Crysta, let's deal with this miscreant!"
Crysta blubbed in response, watching the Rotom as it bounced excitedly at its new playmate.
"Go for a Water Gun!"
Crysta inhaled shortly, spitting a powerful jet of water at the plasma wisp. Rotom was sent into the wall, splatting up against it comically as it was soaked with a torrent of water. The Rotom bounced back, shaking off the drops. It loosed another jolt of electricity, but Crysta simply did not react as her Ground half channeled the voltage harmlessly into the floor.
"Great! Finish with an Ancientpower!"
Crysta lifted her arms, gathering a ball of swirling brown energy before clapping, sending the ball right for the Rotom. The wisp barely had time to react, and was smacked head on, falling to the floor, clearly KO'd.
Pumping his fist, Jeri celebrated his victory shortly, eager to make his first capture in quite a while. Patting Crysta and thanking her before returning her to her ball, he stood over the Rotom and surveyed the damage. From what he could tell from the faint light, the console was still in one piece, but likely a little beaten up. The couch had a visible singe on it, even visible in the low light, and likely would need some reupholstering. He now noticed the back of his head was throbbing painfully, and winced as he touched it, smearing a bit of blood on his hand from where the edge of the controller made contact. He cursed, wiping the blood on a handkerchief in his pocket. Grimacing, he turned back to the Rotom, reaching to his belt to find the two Poké Balls holding the two Pokémon he still had, realizing his empty balls were in his pack, which was sitting in the dark near the entrance of the base. Swearing under his breath, he called out to his Cheering Pokémon again.
"Will, Matt, could I get some light?" No response. "Will? Matt? Where did you two run off to?"
Jeri stumbled into the next room, tripping over a table leg and swearing. As he regained his balance, yet another object came careening towards his face. This time, however, he managed to catch it before it smacked him. It was a Poké Ball, one he didn't recognize, which seemed to emanate a faint blue-green glow, even in the dark.
"You'll need this," a voice rung in his head.
"What the hell? Who's there?" Jeri shouted into the darkness, bewildered.
"My question exactly."
"What in sweet hell is going on here?"
"You're encroaching on a base that is not yours."
"Encroaching? This base is mine! My good friend handed me the deed! If I could find my damn bag, I'd show you!"
"Did he? And your friend is...?"
"Tetsu Aomori!"
There was a long moment of silence.
"I see," the voice responded at last.
"You see what? Where are you?"
"Right here."
A faint glow came from the mouth of the cave. Jeri turned to find a Grumpig standing just beyond the entrance, draped in a black coat.
"You're... a Grumpig? Are you wild?"
"No. But my trainer has gone missing, and it seems you know him."
"Tetsu? Your his Grumpig then? Spoils, was it?"
"That is my name no longer. But my name is unimportant. What is important is Tetsu's whereabouts."
"I know just as much as you do. Last time I saw him was months ago, when he gave me the deed to his base and the Pokémon he had on him."
"Did he now?"
"Yeah, he transferred all his accounts and possessions over to me, even giving me control over his Trainer ID. And the next day, he disappeared."
"Interesting." A pause. "Do you know why?"
"Not in the slightest."
"Very well. Seeing as this is yours now, do what you wish. But, you may want to make your capture, before it gets away," the Grumpig gestured towards the Rotom, which was beginning to stir.
"Oh right!"
Jeri pitched the ball, which clicked open, sucking the Rotom in with a flash of red light. It dropped to the floor, wiggling once, twice, a third time and settling. With a full belt, the Poké Ball automatically disappeared, warping to his PC.
"Nice," he exclaimed. "So, Spoils or whatever your name is..."
He turned back towards the entrance, only to find the Grumpig had disappeared. Jeri sighed, rubbing his head gingerly. Snowy nervously appeared from under the table, dragging Jeri's pack. Jeri bent down, patting him on the head, and fished a flashlight from his bag. He flicked it on, sweeping the place for any signs of the pig.
"Well, I guess we should get this place cleaned up. And find Matt and Will, wherever they ran off to..."
OoC: Not open for visitors just yet! I have another part to write up but it's late here so it'll have to wait for the morning. Once I get that all finished, we'll be open for business!
Shuiko was quickly growing impatient. Whenever that scheming Raichu and his lackeys came knocking, he made a point to avoid them and their constant attempts to recruit him into their little gang. But this time, it was different. They had come with news of someone at the base, something that he couldn't ignore. Even if that was the case, he still didn't care to wait for the sour rat to appear, not fond of his company.
He sighed, crossing his arms. He looked towards the entrance of the cave a ways in the distance, noticing a roughly dome-shaped creature trudging in. Even from his vantage point, he recognized it as Smokestack the Torkoal, a longtime friend and fellow teammate. He slowly hobbled towards Shuiko, who greeted him with a nod. The Torkoal replied with a nod himself, settling at the Sandslash's side.
"Will this be much longer?" Shuiko asked, a little bitterly.
"He'll be here soon," Demyx chuckled, relaxed, "Chill."
"Antsy, are we?" A gruff, hissing voice echoed through the chamber.
Shuiko glanced over to the entrance, noticing two hooded figures enter.
"So what's this about someone at the base?" Shuiko pressed.
"Saďx, if you would."
The Grumpig removed his hood and begun to explain, "About an hour ago, an Altaria was spotted on the horizon to the west. We tracked it. It seemed that a man was following it."
"Was it... Tetsu?" Shuiko asked hesitantly.
"Decidedly not," Saďx responded, "He was early 20's, roughly 6'1". Though he was traveling with a Snorunt as well, and perhaps other Pokémon. I briefly spoke with him. He seems to have known Tetsu."
"Does he know where he is?" Shuiko interrupted again.
"He said he knew as much as we do. However, he said that he had been given all of Tetsu's possessions, including ownership of the base and his full control over his accounts and ID."
"What are we waiting for? If he knows Tetsu, we need to talk to him! He might know more than he thinks."
"I do not think it will be quite that simple."
The Raichu butted in, "If Tetsu made a full transfer of his ID and accounts, it is safe to assume he is long gone. Furthermore, we're no longer under Tetsu's care."
"Well, then, even more reason to talk to him! If he's our trainer now, we need to make ourselves known," A beat; Shuiko glared at the still hooded Raichu, "You don't trust him."
"Not in the slightest," he hissed, "This man walks into our base with our trainer's Pokémon, claiming to now own it and all of us? It's undoubtably suspicious."
"I suppose that's fair," Shuiko begrudgingly agreed, "but I still think we should give him the benefit of the doubt. He seems to be Tetsu's friend. Why would Tetsu leave all his accounts with him if he wasn't?"
"He could have easily stolen them?"
"Stolen them? How? And what about Snowy? If that really is Snowy, there's now way he would have been traveling with someone he or Tetsu didn't trust."
The Raichu didn't answer this time, merely huffing.
"Whatever, think what you want. Just don't do anything stupid." Shuiko turned towards the entrance, flexing his claws in the Raichu's general direction. "I'm going to see him. How about it, Smokestack?"
The Torkoal didn't respond, simply following Shuiko out.
As he swept by the Raichu, Shuiko flashed his claws and glared at him threateningly. "Don't get in the way."
~~~~

After tending to his wound and fixing up his team, Jeri was getting sick of sitting in the dark. With no bulbs or electric rodents to be found, he and Snowy stepped out of the cave, squinting in the sunlight. The wind had calmed and the clouds had dispersed, the late afternoon sun now casting stretching shadows across the valley.

"It's not so bad when it's not so windy..." Jeri commented, stretching, "Now, let's find Will and Matt."

Jeri glanced around, trying to find any trace of the little rodents. Even though the wind had died down, it was likely that any trace of them was likely blown away a while back, leaving the trail cold before he could even begin to follow it. He scratched his head gingerly, unsure of where to begin. Snowy began to tug on his pant leg again.

"What's up, buddy?"

The Snorunt began chattering, pointing towards a distant moutainside with his stubby arm and immediately shuffling off. The Snow Hat lead him about two hundred yards northwest to a small opening in the wall, a sizable cavern likely borne from an ancient lava flow. The cave was fairly dark, though he noticed some ambient light glowing from inside. The Snorunt motioned to the inside of the cave, shuffling towards its mouth.

Not keen on plunging into another dark cave, Jeri decided to call for his Pokémon before going on another spelunking expedition. "Will! Matt! You guys here?"

Surely enough, a pair of red ears poked from a stalagmite. Another pair of ears, these blue, popped out from an adjacent formation. Both the Plusle and Minun showed their faces shyly, but when they saw Jeri, they eagerly burst forth, hopping towards him. Jeri scooped the both of them up, mussing their fur and scolding them lightly, "Okay you two, don't run off like that! I'm supposed to be keeping track of you, alright?"

The two little mice chirped in response, Will squirming enthusiastically while Matt only nodded. He set them down again, only for Will to scamper back off into the cave. Hesitating, Matt looked at his brother, his trainer, and back to his brother again before running off himself, tailing the Plusle.

Groaning, Jeri chased after them. "Hey, guys, I told you not to run off!"
Will and Matt led him a ways into the cave, Snowy on his heels, before they stopped abruptly in a large circular chamber, the source of the ambient light.
In the few sun rays provided by the holes in the ceiling, Jeri noticed the silhouette of a spiny clawed creature slowly approaching.

"Hey, a Sandslash!" Jeri whipped out his Pokédex again, allowing it to read off its data.

"SANDSLASH, the Mouse Pokémon. The spikes on its body are made up of its hardened hide. It rolls up and attacks foes with its spikes."

The Sandslash stepped into the light reluctantly, clearly wary of Jeri's presence. But as soon as he came into view, Will burst into a cheer. The mouse scampered up to Sandslash, bouncing up and down. Matt also approached him a little more calmly, both seeming to be quite familiar with it.

"You're... are you Shuiko?"

The Sandslash nodded.

"Tetsu told me about you." Jeri offered a hand. Shuiko carefully extended his claw, which Jeri shook. "I see you know these two."

Shuiko gently patted both of them on the head, causing Will to spark even more enthusiastically.

"Oh, and who's this?" Jeri turned to see another Pokémon come into the light. "Smokestack, right?"

"Torrrrk," the Torkoal sighed.

"Tetsu told me all about you too," Jeri patted the tortoise on the head, and Smokestack puffed out a few small clouds of chalky smoke, causing Jeri to cough a little. "Alright, buddy, keep it in for now. Nice to meet you guys."
Jeri looked around shortly. "Tetsu told me that he had a few more Pokémon that he had left guarding the base. I think I've already met his Grumpig but he ran off before I could properly introduce myself. He also said he had a Floatzel and a Raichu. Is that right?"

At the mention of the word 'Raichu', Shuiko's eyes narrowed.

"So they're here somewhere?"

Shuiko nodded.

"Well I guess that means we'll have to find them. At least I have a light source now. Will, Matt, some more light?"

They both nodded in unison, their cheeks glowing faintly again.

"Sandslash!" Shuiko thrust his claw behind the Torkoal, motioning towards three figures that appeared from the dark.

"What...? Who are you three?"

The leftmost figure pulled down his hood, "I believe we've already met," he replied telepathically, "In light of recent developments, a formal introduction is likely in order. I am Saďx. This," Saďx motioned to the rightmost figure, who removed his hood, revealing the grinning Floatzel's face, "is Demyx. And this is..."

"Luxord." Jeri interjected.

"Yes."

"Tetsu told me all about you. Said you were trouble."

The Raichu smirked, lowering his hood. He muttered something to the Grumpig before Saíx continued.

"I am to inform you that I will be the liason and interpreter for Luxord."
Jeri nodded, eyes narrowing.

As the Raichu spoke, Saíx interpreted simultaneously thorugh telepathy, "So, you're the new kid?"

"Yeah, and your trainer now."

"Or so I've heard. Where is Tetsu?"

"Like I told your piggy friend, I don't know. I'd known him for a while, we bonded. One day, he said he had to leave and that he wouldn't be back. He gave me all his stuff and all his Pokémon and, poof, like that, gone the next day."

Luxord scoffed.

"I'm guessing you don't believe me."

He shrugged.

"Why do you care anyway? It's not like you had any loyalties to him."

"I wouldn't say that. We didn't exactly get along but he was still my trainer."

"And he entrusted me with you. So if you have any respect for him, you'll cooperate."

"Where are you from?"

"Pacifidlog, in Hoenn. But I've been battling on the International Circuit for a while now. Got sick of it, came here."

"The circuit? I'd like a battle, then."

"A battle? This is ridiculous."

"Yes. With your own Pokémon."

"My own Pokémon? You mean ones that aren't Tetsu's?"

He nodded.

"Well, you're outta luck. All my Pokémon are sitting in a PC worlds away. Even if I had a laptop, the system their stored in is completely unaccessible from here. And even if I did have them, why would I have to humor you?"

"To be my trainer, you must best me."

"Look. If you don't believe me, here," Jeri reached into his pack and produced a letter, "Here, Grumpig, I'm sure you can read or something."

Saďx telekinetically plucked the letter from Jeri's hand and began to read it.

"Jeri,

"I'm sorry for springing all of this on you so suddenly, but I have to go. Unfortunately, where I'm going is not anywhere my Pokémon can go. I know we've only known each other a few months, but you're the only person I trust enough to leave with my Pokémon. Therefore, I'm leaving you all my Pokémon, my possessions, my base, my permissions and access codes, and everything else. You'll find the deed to the base attached along with the six Pokémon I was carrying with me. I have already made the proper arrangements to transfer my accounts and ID information into yours.

"I ask of you only one favor, though I'm afraid it's a rather large one. In the Volcanic Moutains in a distant nation named Fizzytopia, I maintain a base. I have left some of my Pokémon at that base to guard it in my absence. I would like for you to go there and collect them, as well as take care of my base. Consider it to be yours and do with it what you wish. Directions and instructions for travel arrangements are also attached. There should be sufficient funds in my accounts to cover your travel expense. Perhaps you will also take the opportunity to explore Fizzytopia in your hiatus from the circuit.

"I'm sure you will raise and care for my Pokémon even better than I did. In my short years as a trainer, I was unable to raise them to their full potential, but I'm sure with your experience and expertise, you can make them even better than they were before. Let them know that I will miss them all deeply but it is for their saftey and wellbeing that I entrust you with their care.
Although I doubt I we will meet again, I hope through some twist of fate our paths cross. Until that distant day, I wish you the best.

Love,
Tetsu"

"See?"

Luxord examined the letter briefly before letting it fall to the cave floor.
"Could easily be a forgery."

Jeri growled, storming up to the rodent, easily dwarfing his small frame. Luxord looked up at him, undaunted. Nervously, Snowy skittered after him.

"Look, rat. I'm not taking any of this bullshit. Either you swallow your pride and come with me or continue to live out here in this hellhole, alone."

"Very well." The Raichu threw his hood over his head once again, turning away, "Come."

Both Saďx and Demyx didn't move. The three of them began to chatter, Saďx continuing to instinctively translate for Jeri.

"It's pointless to continue staying here. He clearly has all the proper permissions. It would behoove us to go with him." Saďx reasoned.

"Yeah, buddy, I don't know about you, but I'm sick of this damn desert. I wanna get out, explore!"

"It's decided. We're not going with this imposter."

"I'm sorry, Luxord, but I see no reason to stay."

"We're not going."

"I'm putting my foot down."

"Defiance, hm?"

Without warning, the Raichu whipped around, a Thunderbolt careening towards the Grumpig. Jeri jumped back instinctively and Snowy immediately reacted by thowing up a Protective shield, deflecting the stray arcs. Saďx responded with a massive burst of Psychic, throwing the Raichu against the wall. Luxord sunk against the stone, crumbling at its base.
In a fit of blind rage, Jeri threw himself at the Raichu, gripping his neck and slamming him against the cave wall.

"Look you little shit," he hissed through gritted teeth, "If you have even an ounce of respect for Tetsu, you'll fucking cooperate. Otherwise, I'll pound your sorry little rat ass into this rock."

The Raichu struggled, cheeks sparking. Jeri only tightened his grip.

"You think I want it this way? Tetsu was my friend. I only knew him for one month but I felt like I knew him for years. Do you think this is easy for me?" Jeri's eyes began to shimmer with tears. Instinctively, he loosened his hold. The Raichu fell to the ground, coughing and hacking. He regained his composure quickly, standing. Luxord smirked and hissed, "Traitors!" In a flash, he was gone.

Jeri backed away from the wall, breathing heavily. Snowy, Matt, and Will scampered up to him, worriedly gathering around his feet. Sighing, he collected the three of them, perching Snowy on his shoulder and holding the Plusle and Minun.

"I would recommend forgetting about him for now." Saďx suggested, "He will not bother you for a while. His ego has been bruised."

"Yeah." Jeri sighed again, "Do you think he'll come around?"

"Hard to say. Believe it or not, he does have a heart. It is hidden below many lowers of stone, but it is there. At the very least, he'll come back for Matt's and Will's sake. It may be a long while before we hear from him again, however."

"I guess we'll just have to make due then. So, what did you say your names were again?"

"Saďx, but... With Luxord no longer lording over us, I suppose these assigned designations are not entirely appropriate. So," he began, shedding his coat, "you may call me Isa."

"Not Spoils?" Jeri joked.

"No. Even if it was my name, it no longer seems fitting."

"Okay then," Jeri chuckled, "And you?"

"Uh, I guess that means I'm... Myde?"

"Myde, I like it. Nice to meet you, Myde."

The Floatzel shook his hand, also disposing of his coat.

Standing up straight, Jeri faced the new crowd of Pokémon before him. He cleared his throat and began to speak. "I... I know that I'm not quite what you were hoping for. And I can never be a replacement for Tetsu. But he placed all of you in my care and I'm going to care for you, dammit. And one day, once things have been sorted, we'll find him again. Right?"

The lot of them all nodded and gave ethusiastic cries in response.

"If there aren't any further objections...?" They all shook their heads. "Well, in that case, why don't we get back to the base? It's in need of a little fixing up..."

The group nodded and chirped in approval, following Jeri as he marched back towards his base, his team finally collected once again...

OoC: Okay, now open for business! Expect a few revisions and additions in the coming days, but you can RP if you like!

(OOC: Hope you don't mind me dropping in, Jeri)

Karmas sat atop of Banane's back, slowly walking through the Volcanic Mountain area. The pair had decided to explore a little bit on a whim, which turned out to be a slightly misguided idea. It had definitely turned out to be much much hotter than the trainer had expected it to be. Thankfully it wasn't too hard on him, before he left on his journey it used to get absolutely stinking hot during the summer. But Banane on the other hand, he wasn't fairing all that well to be perfectly honest. While the dinosaur didn't have too much of a problem if it was ridiculously sunny, the heat was really starting to get to him, each step becoming more and more of a chore, and his breathing deep and haggard. A couple of times now, Karmas had sent out Eric just so that his ability to call up hail would end up with the ice melting into water to rejuvenate Banane somewhat. Unfortuntaley, Eric had even less resistance to the area and Karmas had to stop sending him out.

Meanwhile, in a completely opposite situation, was Nessa, his Vullaby. Perched on her trainer's shoulder, she was happily chirping along. Karmas was sort of bewildered that she was acting that way, especially considering that she was way smaller than both him and Banane.

"Banane, I need to return you," said Karmas, seriously worried about the state of his Tropius. "I really don't think that it is safe for you to keep going."

The dinosaur let out a cry of disagreement, there was no way that he was going to leave his trainer stranded, especially considering that he was the only pokemon that Karmas could ride, and the only one that could fly.

"Don't be so stubb-" started Karmas before he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. "Is that a base? Maybe we could get a bit of rest or something, or maybe you could at least be able to cool down."

With a roar, Banane picked up his pace, preferring his trainer's idea opposed to having to be returned.

With the base now back in shape on some level, Jeri finally got a moment to rest. Unfortunately, with the lightbulbs still in shards on the ground and spares nowhere to be found, the small cavern was still pitch black. Because his only sources of light were a little unreliable, Jeri thought it best to take shade in a convenient outcropping just a few yards from the cave's entrance. With Snowy sleeping at his side, exhausted from the heat and commotion, he was watching Nimbus circle aimlessly above when he heard the Cloud Bird coo heartily. The Altaria had spotted something - or someone - in the distance.

"What is it, buddy? Is it Luxord?"

Nimbus responded with a headshake, swooping westward towards the visitor.

"That's odd. Did someone get lost out here?" Jeri got to his feet, curious to see what it was. In the distance, he could see a huge dinosaur-like creature lumbering towards them.

"Is that a... Tropius? What is that doing here?" Jeri flipped out his Pokédex, which read off the entry.

"TROPIUS, the Fruit Pokémon. Tropius flies by flapping its broad leaves and gives the sweet, delicious fruit around its neck to children."

He had seen these monstrous banana-bearing dinos among the forests of Fortree in his youth but was never quite lucky enough to catch one. He had always wanted to, but for giant, sluggish reptiles they were surprisingly hard to snag. Something seemed off about this though; the Volcanic Mountains didn't exactly strike Jeri as a hotspot for tropical Pokémon like that.

Surely enough, upon closer inspection, he noticed a young man mounted on the Tropius's back. It was no one he recognized, but he seemed harmless enough.

"Hey!" Jeri called, waiving his hands, "Over there! Are ya lost?"

Karmas strained his ears to hear what the person said, something about is he was lost or not.

"Come on Banane," said the trainer, giving his flying banana dinosaur a little nudge with his legs.

With a struggling groan, Banane flapped his leafy wings and took to the sky. With Nessa estactically chirping in his ear, Karmas held onto Banane as they drew closer. Landing on the ground, Karmas hopped off Banane, his hair windswept.

"Yeah, we sort of are lost I guess. I thought it would be a good idea to explore the area, I haven't been here in like forever," Karmas started to explain to the young man who presumably owned the base, "Unfortunately I may have understimated how hot it gets here, and I couldn't actually get Banane here to go back into his ball, which meant that he is now getting to the point where he is going to collapse. Which means that we need somewhere to rest, but there hasn't actually been anywhere that we could do that. My name's Karmas by the way."

"Ah, well, I'm Jeri. This here," he pointed to the sleeping Snorunt, "is Snowy. And this," he gestured to the Altaria who landed at his side, "is Nimbus. We actually just got here ourselves. To be honest, I'm kinda new to the area. I sort of... inherited this base, I guess, and I was coming to see what I was left. It's not much but it's... well, going to be home, I hope."

Walking over to the outcropping, he collected the sleeping Snorunt and began to head inside. "I have some water if you'd like; it's in my pack there. Feel free to help yourself." He set Snowy down on a pillow, allowing him to sleep a little longer.

"So what brings you out to this dusty valley? It's not exactly a great vacation spot so I can't say I expected many tourists."
