If you don't see yourself challenging gyms on a regular basis, you should probably toss out your lowest tier Potions and Revives. Keep some for when you do decide to start, but they can really bog your bag space and even EXP from Pokestops so keeping a large supply hurts your progress.

Today was... pretty uneventful. Hatched a Cubone with amazing IVs- not perfect, but 91% perfection with a guaranteed perfect Attack IV, I'll take it! Caught another Magikarp, too. I'm getting closer to level 19... Oh, yeah, got to the local Gym just in time to witness Team Instinct take it over and leave an Arcanine behind. Which my Flareon and Jolteon made quick work of, and that Gym's riiiiight back under Valor control.

New update is out for Go. One thing it seems to have done is changed the "Nearby" thing- it's now labeled "Sightings", and it shows the Pokémon next to a graphic of a patch of grass, and it also seems to update more frequently- I literally just watched mine update to show that there's a Pidgey in the area in addition to the Rattata and Weedle, and minutes ago, it was showing a Gloom. I can't say for certain, but I think it actually updates in real time now- I think it used to have problems with this. Not sure if this is going to help us more precisely track Pokémon, and it's a little late at night for me to test this (though make no mistake, I really, really want to test this!). Also, it seems we get XP bonuses for Nice, Great, and Excellent catches again- just got an Excellent catch on a Drowzee, and the associated XP bonus. Really happy about that one- the bonuses aren't much, but every little bit helps.

I'm also hearing stuff like, you're able to, one time only, change your username; and there's apparently something where if you're going above a certain speed you have to confirm that you're not driving, something to that effect.

I have challenged gyms recently and I am sorely in need of potions. I actually can't battle gyms anymore right now because I have too many injured Pokemon and no potions to heal them with...

This was a bug and has now been fixed in tonight's patch.

>Potions and Revives

I realized today that almost half of my items were Revives. I almost never need them, since there's only one Gym around these parts, and I almost never need to reclaim it these days. I did have to today, true enough, but... well, only Flareon needed a Revive after that. Once Flareon went down, Jolteon did the rest and came out on top. So I chucked a couple dozen Revives (and I still have over 50 of the things! Why can't I stockpile this many Poké Balls?).

revives are worthless even if you do regularly fight gyms. the frequency you get them at far exceeds the frequency you use them

Yeah, I'm in the same situation after like literally a single night of driving around and taking gyms. But in the beginning when your bag is full and you don't challenge gyms, it's really not worth keeping them. And as time goes by, the Potions are really bag inefficient. Super Potions and Hyper Potions are fine. Max Revives super trump normal ones.

And your best bet is to take gyms with friends and plan properly when training gyms (like leaving a Pokemon that isn't unbeatable for your friends to train the gym on so they can stick their 'mon in as well).

Honestly though, Pokemon Go is really terrible when it comes to the gym system currently. They really need to jump on the idea of selling Potions and Revives. Sure it's another thing to sell and feels grimy, but the RNG nature of Pokestops really makes gyms a shitty grindfest. I've yet to build a decent amount of Potions since I did my night of gym taking and it feels really awful.

Maybe raising a Pokemon's CP should also heal them somewhat (not that sad +1/2/3 we usually get).

So, you guys are getting too many revives but really want potions...why not let your pokemon faint and use the revives as psuedo potions?

I do this, but it requires you to battle at a rival gym. It's the only way to faint your Pokemon.

It basically makes training at your own team's gym impossible.

Pokémon can only faint as a result of battling Gyms belonging to other teams. If you're training a Gym from your own team, your Pokémon are left with 1 HP.

Today wasn't especially eventful. The changes to the tracker do seem to work- it's a lot quicker to register when a Pokémon is no longer in the area. On the other hand, it makes you realize just how barren an area can be. At one point, the only thing anywhere near me was a single Spearow. I am SO CLOSE to leveling up! Just need to evolve one more thing. Haven't found any more Eevee, and I'm only two more Eevee Candy away from evolving Rainer into a Vaporeon.

Finally got to level 19! Still just two Eevee Candy away from a Vaporeon...

But eventually we'll all have it, right? Only reason a select few got it is because they're still testing it, right?

Today was mostly uneventful. The highlight of this walk was my 5km Egg hatching into a Diglett, something I didn't have at all up to this point. Incubated and hatched a 2km Egg after that, which resulted in a Geodude. The local Gym hasn't been taken over, but it's been leveled down sufficiently to boot me out, and I can't level it up- their weakest Pokémon is a 1600-something Lapras that kicks the ass of anything I throw at it. I also caught a Venomoth, even though I already had one- wasn't too difficult, either. After the first Poké Ball failed, I used a Razz Berry, then a Great Ball, and success. And believe you me, I know Venomoth are capable of giving you much more grief than that. Experienced some of that firsthand before. Hell, I've had Venonat give me that kind of grief! But yeah- doing rather well on Poké Balls, got 62 of those and 30 Great Balls.

In addition, I am very glad they fixed Battery Saver mode. Makes a world of difference.

Nowhere near close to leveling up to level 20, but I'm getting there. Slowly but surely.

Oh, yeah- does getting to level 19... increase your chances of getting Great Balls from a PokéStop? Because I've been getting those more than usual today. I mean, if it's just luck, I certainly can't complain about that kind of luck.

No complaints about today. Started off by catching a Seadra! Didn't even give me trouble. Not to mention, I finally, FINALLY caught another Eevee, and thus was able to evolve Rainer into a Vaporeon. Lower CP than my Flareon, but higher than my Jolteon. Not too shabby at all. I'm less than 10,000 XP away from level 20! Also hatched a Rhyhorn, by the way. I got, like, three 10km Eggs, but with only one incubator at the moment, I'm working on the 5km Eggs. Save the 10km Eggs for the limited-use incubators, get the most mileage out of 'em, y'know? Unfortunately, the local Gym has not changed any since yesterday, nor has my inability to do anything about getting a Pokémon in there.

I think it's safe to say your curveball technique is improving when you get the curveball and excellent throw bonuses on the same Jynx.

Didn't get to go for my usual walk today, spent the day with family. I did manage to use up every last Poké Ball and Great Ball I had after the last time I was within range of a PokéStop, so I'll need to restock in the morning. Also, I am but a few thousand XP away from level 20, so I will soon be acquiring Ultra Balls! Also hatched a Ponyta today with rather impressive IVs.

So today went well! Restocked well enough on Poké Balls and Great Balls, got my Snorlax into the local Gym once again, and, oh, yeah, hit level 20. And the Ultra Balls were just the tip of the Bergmite- I got two Egg Incubators, two Incenses, two Lucky Eggs, two Lure Modules- it was nuts! Already used one of the incenses for the remainder of my walk, and my two new incubators are each incubating a 10km Egg. My most recent 5km Egg hatched, giving me my very first Mankey, which has amazing IVs, and I now got a 2km Egg going in the infincubator, as I think I'm gonna call it now. Hoping for any of the starters from it, to be honest with you- I need more Candy to evolve my Bulbasaur and Wartortle, and I'd be happy just getting a Charmander at all.

I had an equally good day ^_^
Went to the city as I had to get some stuff there, it's so full with stops and gyms in the shopping center it's crazy. Had to throw half of all my potions and revives away to make space for all those Poké Balls and Great Balls. Got 60+ Poké Balls and 20+ Great Balls out of it. Though I left with less Great Balls than I arrived with as I captured a whole bunch of Pokémon I hadn't even seen yet, surprisingly all Water Pokémon (and Dratini).
Reached level 18 today too, hatched 5 eggs (and close to hatching #6, which may happen when I walk our dag this evening), all with good IV's too. And I FINALLY breached the 1000 CP mark when I evolved my Eevee today. Which once again became a Vaporeon.

Also beat the crap out of 3 gyms, only to loose it withing 10 minutes. The weather was nice today and it was busy, so gyms in the shopping center where switching sides every few minutes. Mostly Valor and Mystic though, only occasionally Instinct. It was fun though, and it's nice seeing so many people of all ages play Pokémon

Only seen one Instinct gym on the way into the city center today. Three deep, all Snorlax, two of them 2300+.

Update: Looks like I gotta get Snorlax back into the local Gym aaaall over again. The Gym hasn't been taken over, just leveled down enough to get Snorlax booted out. Ugh... That Exeggutor was hell to beat- it somehow kept coming out on top against Flareon despite having a distinct type and CP disadvantage, I had to use Snorlax instead. Honestly, I wish I had enough Stardust and Krabby Candy to level up my Kingler for this- that X-Scissor would reduce Exeggutor to toothpicks.

So I'm back home in Indonesia right

And there are literally no Pokéstops around lol

The nearest one was a 3-hour bus ride away and I need clearance and escorts alongside a waiting list to be able to use it

Gg myself lol
