[Round Nine]

With Soren's orders to Sucker Punch in place means Mortimer is first to approach. A bright light of energy glows across the ghost's head spinning rapidly as he approaches Soren. Seeing this the cacturn-like Pokemon reacts in the only way he can, with a good old fashioned Sucker Punch. However his opponent isn't fooled this time, being the second time he's used the move in this match the ghost is much wiser in how the attack works and plows forward, the spinning horn-shaped enery piercing into the poor Cacnea doing some quite heavy damage as he let's out a shrill cry. Luckily the horn of energy soon flickers, slowing down to a stop, Mortimer's unfamiliarity with the move causing it to short-out prematurely. Soren cringes as he picks himself up, luckily the attack wasn't able to hit anything vital though it didn't do anything good for his health. Recovering as fast as one can when one has just been pierced into by giant rotating horn-shaped energy he begins to kick up sand into the ghosts face just as he begins to leer at him. Perhaps not the best idea as this just assists in the sand's job of blinding the ghost causing him to close his eyes immedietly, if only he had hands, or at least an arm to rub that sand out of his eyes. Sadly that isn't a luxuary he's blessed with as he is left struggling with his eye-sight as Soren charges his fist with a crackling of electrical energy. Hearing this Mortimer struggles to dodge, quickly diving forward in a random direction in hopes of avoiding the attack. Though that move didn't seem to go quite as planned as a surge of electrical energy is sent throughout his body, a fist connected to his face. Finally the blow settles in and Mortimer is sent flying so to speak, not very far as he lands less than a meter away picking himself up quickly.

[Round Nine's Aftermath]

Soren's energy levels continue to be his biggest advantage in this match, at the moment it settles at just slightly below the three-quarter mark and is all in all in good shape. However, the horn drill, although not naturally learned by Shuppet, still did significant damage, enough to put him around one-quarter of health perhaps a bit below if anything.

Mortimer's health is doing better in comparison to his opponent, he took a solid blow meaning it's around the three-eighths mark but as mentioned, a good deal above his opponent. Energy is a good deal below the half-way mark and the difference between the two is quite high. Still slightly blinded however which could cause trouble next round.

While relatively discouraged by the magnitude of inflicted damage, Oscar clutched at the glimmer of his advantage in terms of his opponent's visual impairment. This looming round demanded the utilisation of this upper hand in order to reacquire equilibrium. From what he could ascertain, at his disposal was a practical degree of energy still to be expended by his headstrong Cacnea.

"Ok Soren, let us find value in your limitless enthusiasm. While taking advantage of your opponent's reduced accuracy, throw yourself around the battlefield in a bewildering Teeter Dance. Ensue with retaliation against these dangerous gusts by emitting a Dark Pulse towards your enemy, and follow it immediately with a well-aimed, well-powered Thunder Punch. Good luck, my friend."

(I heard Psychopath was leaving in Time Out so i'm not sure what you two would want to do with this match since it's about one round from the conclusion. Apologies for short reffing, the computer i'm on doesn't seem to like it when I attempt to post large bodies of text for some reason.)

[Round Ten]

It's Mortimer first to attack as the ghostly figure sends a gust of wind laced with a very fine strands of ghost energy towards the Grass-type who can do nothing but take the hit, tumbling back slightly, landing backwords on the sand. Picking himself up the cactus begins to dance strangely once more. Now why the heck would it want to do that again is what Mortimer is wondering, slightly confused at the fact he's dancing in the middle of battle and the fact he's dancing... again. All the same the move seems to have worked as the ghost tries to recall it's next move but all that comes up in his mind is Soren's dance, burned into his ghostly retinas. With nothing left to do Soren focuses what little dark energy he has into pulsating rings of energy which has no problem in smashing into Mortimer dealing some nasty super-effective damage but easily knocks him out of what little confusion the attack caused. What was that last attack again? Oh yes, Omnious Wind, the ghost once again blows forward his ghostly wind... so to speak, once more. Soren, on the other hand can't seem to be able to avoid the attack, dealing some pretty decent damage to the Cactus-like Pokemon. Though he wasn't able to get in the punch as fast as he'd like the grass-type charges his fist with electrical energy all the same, driving it forward into Mortier's face dealing some good damage.

[Round Ten's Aftermath]

Soren took a decent hit, his health dipping towards the critical mark thanks to constant damage but still a good bit away from it as of now. Energy has no problems, a decent bit under three-quarters but still so much to spend there. Out of dark energy now.

Mortimer's energy use was quite low this round and gave him a nice breather meaning he has more than enough energy to take Soren out if he's careful. Health is about the same as Soren's thanks to that onslaught however, if not a little below. Well out of fire energy however.

At no point leading to this crucial moment, Oscar pondered, had the situation called for action of such a magnitude of care. From the wealth of offense that reigned over the previous bout arose a circumstance in which both players were short of breath, yet shorter of vitality. Deliberation, albeit forcibly crammed within the space of a few fleeting moments, was crucial. At Soren's disposal, Oscar was sure, there was a vast bank of energy yet to be completely expended. His faith had nestled in the certainty of his lively Cacnea's enthusiasm, and the initial confidence spurred by Soren's vivacious disposition, it seemed, had been well-placed. From the circumstances, a possibility shone like a weapon he'd yet to utilise, the possibility for all-out offense, a round in which he could subdue his opponent with a final, exhausting lunge.

Yet, it was all he could do to keep himself from snatching the opportunity. Rationality had dictated thus far that he staunchly diverted from such routes, and to flout the tactics that had guided his hand thus far at this crucial moment, he concluded, would be reckless, and regrettably fruitless. It was care that the battle demanded from him, and it was with care that he decided to plant his faith once more.

"Soren, my boy, let us exert ourselves to our fullest extent. A move boshed is a battle lost. I want you to carry out these commands to the fullest extent of your ability, and do not allow yourself to be carelessly struck. You are too low on your vitality. Commence immediately with a Leer and do not sacrifice the importance of time by covering distance - instead, follow swiftly with a Seed Bomb to chip at your opponent's health. Finally, Soren, at the first sign of retaliation or resistance, complete the round with the most powerful Dark Pulse you can muster. Go, Soren! Go!"

[Final Round]

Both Pokemon look to be absolutely exhausted, one more than the other but both are lacking the stamina to go on much further as the final countdown begins. The lively Soren is first to attack, or so it seems. The grass-type seems to prefere leering maliciously at his opponent to assure he freezes in place, the few seconds gives the plant plenty time to ready his next bombardment of seed based-explosives. Smirking to himself as leers effects wear off the ghost type preapres to sneak forward using his shadow as cover. Soren however has other plans, the leer having given him enough time as the flurry of baseball-sized seed bombs come flying forward. Though Shadow Sneak is indeed a fast move it seems that leer had given just the right amount of delay for Soren to prepare his move. As each bomb hits the ghost-type seems to be having trouble in channeling his energy into his shadow to extend it. Although each seed seems to be doing only mild damage the sheer accumulative effect of twelve consecutive bombs hitting seem to be too much for the ghost to handle. With such low health the ghostly sheet can't take anymore, floating gently to the sandy floor of the mesa.

With that, we have a knock-out! Which means - congratulations Tale and Soren!

Soren recieves two levels for his victory and Tale is awarded this little trophy -
That's right, with three of these you too could be eligible to compete in the beginner gym challenge so get battling.

It was a close one but Soren just managed to pull off the win, with health that low it could have gone either way.

Were it not for the immediacy of Soren's assault, Oscar was certain that the confidence which surged like electricity through his veins could never have materialised at such moment so brutally tense. As Soren glowered with an almost maniacal intent at his opponent, Oscar's hand snapped to clutch his beard as though it were the threads of success at which he currently snatched with desperation. The shifting balance of the battle tottered on but a few moments' bredth, and bestowed on neither party the privilege of foresight.

However, when the pause between Soren's action and his opponent's stretched for that split second longer than anticipated, Oscar's eyes widened intently. Between his club-like arms Soren had already prepared the first of a barrage of seeds, and as it was sent with a swing so enthusiastic it practically knocked the little cactus off balance hurtling towards the hesitant ghost, Oscar could not suppress his glee. Amid the ensuing barrage of seed-bombs, he had already begun to celebrate, praising at every passing second the efficiency of tactical progression over all-out offense.

As Mortimer began to float with graceful exhaustion to the ground, Oscar revelled in the paired thrill of victory and experience before plucking at Soren's ball and transporting him safely within its confines.

"Perfectly executed, my boy. I expected no less from one whose talent brims so magnificently."

Then Oscar's eyes wandered to the opponent with which he had the pleasure of competing.

"My friend, I can scarcely believe the victory rests in my hands after having witnessed the spectacle of your might. You are clearly adept in the battle situation and I could not have requested a more valuable lesson than from somebody such as yourself. Thank you."

Thank you Psycho for the thrilling competition and I welcome the opportunity to battle again whenever you see fit. And thank you SP for the brilliant reffing that has obviously made the battle I enjoyed so much =). I would love to continue being reffed by you should you become available in my next battle (other than the one with me and Treep, obviously). Thanks again to you both!

Claiming the battle trophy and Raising Soren's level from lvl. 48 to lvl. 50.
