Evenfall Academy Gym
Evenfall Academy Gym Decades ago, the Evenfall Academy was founded as an institute of higher learning within Fizzytopia. The Academy prided itself on its dedication to the pursuit of knowledge, philosophical thought, and unlocking the true power of the mind. Many of the great scholars of Fizzytopia spent their days fastidiously studying amongst the Academy’s expansive library, matching wits with one another in spirited debate, and educating the many Fizzytopian youngsters that were sent to the academy who demonstrated an apt for learning…and some of whom were in possession of certain “gifts.” Some students of the academy were known to obtain psychic abilities ranging from psychokinesis to telepathy, apportation to precognition. The patrons of Evenfall Academy were dedicated to helping those with these skills harness and control them for good use. …or so you may believe. Beneath the hallowed halls of academia is a labyrinth of decrepit research facilities and detainment cells. Researchers now believe that certain students sent to the Academy were subject to experimentation – often inhumane - on their psychic abilities, all in the spirit of learning of course. Though Evenfall Academy is no longer in operation as it once was, much of this hidden maze remains undiscovered. Some say you can still hear the cries of former…”research partners”. The most commonly reported incident is one particular voice desperately repeating the phrase: “Good work, you’re the first one through! Now, let’s wait here for the others, there’s still some time until the ritual begins!” In the uncovering of the secrets of Evenfall Academy, researchers made yet another shocking discovery: a Power Spot in the bowels of the building. Psychic-type Pokemon are known to be attracted to the energy that still exudes from the Academy, while Dark-type Pokemon, picking up on Evenfall's more sinister secrets, frequent the spot as well. Unsure who else to turn to, local authorities brought in Hugo Harrison – great-grandson of one of Evenfall’s former headmasters Hubert Harrison – to try and keep the peace. Hugo repurposed the building as the Evenfall Academy Gym in an attempt to restore the Academy’s reputation in light of the recent disturbing realizations of its past. Gym Details:

Hugo had been in a bit of a funk all day. For whatever reason, he couldn’t seem to stay focused on anything. He was even forgetting how to do basic tasks that he did every day. In general, he was just feeling very…confused.
In a brief moment of clarity, he realized he needed to shake this feeling. He headed out of the Academy’s headmaster chambers, eventually reaching the Library. There he saw Slowking and Oranguru sitting at a chessboard. Pieces had been moved, but both Pokemon appeared a bit befuddled. “…why did I come in here again?” Hugo said aloud, struggling to remember. He turned to the Pokemon playing chess. “Who’s winning?” Both Pokemon glanced at the board, then at each other, then at Hugo. Simultaneously, they both shrugged. Apparently, this state of confusion was contagious. Meanwhile, Starmie lay on the ground nearby, its lustrous jewel facing the ceiling. The gem pulsated rhythmically, appearing to be spelling something in Morse code. Normally, Hugo was able to understand Starmie’s messages – but today, nothing. “What are you saying?” he asked. “I don’t remember,” the Mysterious Pokemon pulsed back. The fog in Hugo’s head prevented him from understanding, however. He quickly grew frustrated. “Okay, that’s it. I need to get to the bottom of this. Something is wrong. Everyone is acting all…all….” He forgot what he was saying midsentence. “…all the shrimp you can eat,” he finally stated confidently. All three of his Pokemon looked up curiously. It was then that Hugo realized he wasn’t making sense. Hugo quickly headed out of the library, wandered through a few rooms and corridors, and swung the doors open to the Academy’s gymnasium, which was built directly over the recently discovered Power Spot. And there he found it. The confusion was extremely powerful now. He could feel his brain struggling to form a coherent thought, but he was able to briefly power through it and reached for his Pokegear. Though it was much tougher than it should have been, Hugo sent out the S.O.S.: [Raid Boss: Evenfall Academy. Identified as Slowpoke, Category 3. Requesting immediate assistance of four trainers.] He looked up at the massive Dopey Pokemon, and hoped help would arrive. …but help for what? Why? What was happening again? He was confused. - AFTER January 31st at 22:00 UTC, please sign up below with your Pokemon's statistical information. Please include species, level, and moveset. As another month drew to a close, Zak and his team mates had come to expect the influx of information to the man's PokéGear about Dynamax Pokémon sightings around the region. Given that the man had more experience with such creatures by this stage, he had started to strategise ahead of time with his squad, kitting out key members with new moves to help to vanquish these strange, giant monsters. Over the last month, Blu the Frillish had been undergoing training at Typhon's Depths and Spunky the Tynamo found himself learning a host of new TMs following his first raid with his trainer in the weeks before. With the two of them somewhat experienced with the Dynamax Phenomenon and keen to get involved once more, the man hoped the two would be well equipped for whatever was to show up that month.
Luckily, it wasn't long before that wish would come true as the alerts began to arrive from the Gym Leaders around Fizzytopia. In recent times, a new Power Spot had been discovered at the Evenfall Academy and it was the notification from the new Gym Leader there that piqued his interest first: Quote:
"I suppose that means you're interested, eh?" The man chuckled, he hadn't even managed to show the Tynamo which Pokémon he would be going up against but the youngster's enthusiasm was enough of an answer for him. With a beckoning hand, he called Spunky over to show him the announcement and where the two would be heading nonetheless, already beginning to type up his response to the Gym Leader as he did so... Spunky the Tynamo Spoiler: show

"...so I tell Pepper to use this new move I see on my Pokédex, called Strange Steam, and he just rolls forward, aiming those smokestacks at the Sandaconda, and blasts it with these clouds of colorful steam, and it just takes off," Keith was saying.
"Hah, awesome," grinned Gavin. He, along with Eddie and Terri, were seated in Keith and Willa's living room, the lot of them having come to visit the family following their return from their vacation in the Galar region. "Damn, I didn't even know there was such a thing as Galarian Weezing!" "Neither did I, and I'm the Poison-type expert!" Keith chuckled. "Following this, one of the merchants thanked us," Willa said, continuing the story. "Evidently they'd had trouble with that Sandaconda in the past, though apparently we're the first ones who managed to run it off." "Yeah, Pepper was awesome," smiled Maribel. "I just wish I had caught a Pokémon in Galar- we saw a lot of cool ones." "Well, none of us caught any new Pokémon there, so-" began Keith, before he was interrupted by the sound of half a dozen alarms blaring all at once- everyone's PokéGear, P*DA, or Rotom Phone, as the case may be, was lighting up with a new raid battle alert. "...Slowpoke, huh?" Keith murmured. "And it's not specifying which form, so I'm guessing that means not Galarian... I mean, not like I could've caught it anyway..." "Who wants to take this one?" Eddie asked. "Battery might not be a bad idea here." "Eh, I dunno, dude- you really wanna bring a Steel-type against something what that gets Fire attacks?" said Gavin. "Nah, if anything, might just get Gonzap in on this. She did well against that Golett last month." "This could be a good opportunity for Trevenant," murmured Maribel. "Or Corsola," Willa added. "Maybe Vanish... no, no, it gets Fire moves, right," Terri shook her head. "Curchin curchin! Piiiiiiincurchin!" Every human present turned to look at the source of this; Fred, Keith's Pinurchin, stood relatively unimpressively in the doorway of the living room, spines crackling with electricity, looking ready for action. Terri and Laugh giggled at whatever really bad pun he'd just cracked, before Terri spoke up. "Fred wants to battle the Slowpoke," she stated. "...hm," Keith murmured. "Fred would have the type advantage, Dad," said Maribel. "You're not wrong, sweetie," Keith nodded. "But I've never used Fred in battle before..." "Well, Pepper surprised us all back in Hulbury," Willa reminded him. "Perhaps it's Fred's turn to surprise us now?" Keith gave a small smile. "...as is so often the case, my love, you're absolutely right," he stated, walking up to the Electric-type and carefully picking him up. "You wanna take on that Slowpoke, Fred?" he asked. "Piiiiiincurchin!" Fred responded enthusiastically. Keith nodded with a smile. "Then that's all I need to hear. We'll be back, guys- raid's probably gonna be on channel 890, as usual!" he called as he walked out the door with Fred in hand and Meowth on his shoulder. "...so, why the hell ain't we all just going with him and ganging up on that Slowpoke ourselves?" Gavin asked after a few seconds of silence. The similar silence that followed told him that nobody present seemed to have an adequate answer, and so they turned on the TV and turned it to channel 890, in preparation for the inevitable live news coverage, while the conversation resumed on a completely unrelated subject. OOC: Keith Masters will be entering this raid with Fred the Pincurchin. Fred's stats are as follows; Quote:

It had been a few weeks since the Slowpoke threat at the Evenfall Academy had been neutralized, and Hugo had been settling into his position as Gym Leader. He especially liked the visit the Academy’s courtyard. It was outdoors and neatly landscaped, so he often chose to escape for a minute to get some fresh air. It was a favorite spot of Exeggutor as well, as she liked pick a sunny spot right in the center and photosynthesize. However, on his most recent visit, Hugo found that Exeggutor wasn’t her normal jovial self. Her leaves were a bit wilted and she was moving slowly, her faces a nauseous green instead of their normal pale yellow.
“What’s the problem?” The Gym Leader asked. “Here, let me get you some water.” He filled a nearby watering can from the spigot, but Exeggutor recoiled when Hugo approached. “What…the water? Is something wrong with the water?” Hugo lifted it to his nose and sniffed and, sure enough, it gave off an incredibly foul odor. “What the hell…? Is there something wrong with the plumbing?” He quickly returned to the Headmaster’s chambers, finding Honchkrow perched high on a book shelf, with Abra dozing a few shelves down. He settled into the desk and pulled one of the heavy binders that included all of the information about the Academy’s utility and construction history, turning to the tab labeled “PLUMBING.” He sifted through some of the schematics and receipts, stopping on a letter addressed to one of the former headmasters which certainly seemed out of place. It was from the Fizzytopian Department of Water and Power. Hugo read aloud: ”Dear Headmaster, It has been brought to our attention that your facility has been illegally dumping radioactive materials and petroleum byproducts into the stream on your property. This tributary contributes directly to the local water supply and can have grave effects on both the environment and the citizens of Fizzytopia. This letter will serve as your first and final warning. Cease immediately or we will seek legal action.” “Well, that can’t be good,” Hugo said to himself startled. “SQUAWK!” responded Honchkrow loudly, flapping her wings in distress. The noise startled Abra who teleported away immediately to parts unknown. Suddenly, the alarm he had installed over the power spot began to signal which could only mean another Dynamax Pokemon was coming. Hugo scurried to the gymnasium, and there, slowly creeping out of one of the locker rooms (from what Hugo could only assume was a drain) was an enormous, multicolored, foul smelling pile of sludge. Only this was no ordinary oil slick; it had hands, and a mouth, and eyes that looked back at Hugo, and the eyes hated. In a panic, he typed his message for help: [Raid Boss: Evenfall Academy. Identified as Muk of the Alolan subclassification, Category 4. Requesting immediate assistance of four trainers.] While we waited, he grabbed a mop and bucket from a nearby custodian’s closet and attempted to mop the Pokemon away. It didn’t work. AFTER February 28th at 22:00 UTC, please sign up below with your Pokemon's statistical information. Please include species, level, and moveset. Sign-ups will remain open until March 7th or when all slots are filled, when the raid battle will begin after 48 hours.

The room was dim and empty. In the distance, the Absol stood, staring at Hugo. Absol. The harbinger of doom. Wherever they appear, disaster followed. Hugo knew this. He knew something was coming. The beast stared at him with knowing, but impassive eyes. Absol was the warning, not the disaster itself. It likely didn’t wish any harm to Hugo, but nor was it in any mind to save Hugo. No, it was simply an informant.
But this was just a dream, Hugo realized, entering the realm of lucidity. He was asleep. Until he wasn’t anymore, and he woke up in the darkness of the headmaster’s chambers of the Academy. He looked at the clock; it was 3 AM. Abra slept nearby, but Abra always was asleep. Honchkrow, meanwhile, looked down on Hugo from her perch at the top of a nearby bookcase. Honchkrow, she never slept. “It was a dream. Just a dream. Nothing to worry about. Go back to sleep.” “I still feel it here.” Hugo climbed from his bed, and headed for the gymnasium. He could sense it. He swung the door open, and there stood the giant beast. With surprising calmness, he sent out his SOS: [Raid Boss: Evenfall Academy. Absol. Category 4. Requesting immediate assistance of four trainers. Come at once.] He waited, examining the monster just as it was examining him. “Wait a minute,” he said. But before he could finish his thought, the Absol smacked him with its giant paw, sending him crashing into a wall. "...d-do I at least get to use my Z-Move here?"
Terri shook her head sadly in response to the Mimikyu's question. "Sorry, Nuzzle," she said. "Something about the Dynamax Energy levels at work in these cancel out Mega Evolution energy and Z-Power in all but the highest-leveled Pokémon. But don't worry," she added with her usual mysterious smile. "You might get to Dynamax. Max Starfall might not be quite the same as Let's Snuggle Forever, but it'll certainly get the job done, as you know good and well from past experience." "W-well... alright, then," relented the nervous Mimikyu, turning back to face the direction she and her Trainer had been heading. The massive Absol was visible even from a distance. "I... well, it's not like this is my first time in a raid," she admitted. "I... I think I did OK against that Drampa?" "Nuzzle, you did wonderfully against that Drampa," smiled Terri. "And you'll do just as well here, and the experience will help you get even stronger. And hopefully it'll help your confidence as well- hopefully it'll help you realize just how awesome you really are." "Y-yeah... yeah, you're right," nodded Nuzzle, as finally, the Trainer and Pokémon duo continued onward. Nuzzle was still fairly nervous, but Terri had complete faith in her, and the Mimikyu had to admit, that wasn't nothing. Even if seeing the gigantic Absol was... quite intimidating... having agreed to doing this, and having come this far already, Nuzzle wasn't about to back out now. She could do this. OOC: Terri Alph will be entering this raid with Nuzzle the Mimikyu. Nuzzle's stats are as follows; Quote:
