Destiny
Everything changed with the arrival of Voyageur. It was originally a Golden Age that allowed our civilization to establish itself in the solar system. But it could not last. Something we put ashore broke. The survivors built a city in the Voyageur before returning explore our ancient worlds where only mortal enemies awaited them. You are a Guardian, protector of last haven of life on Earth, armed with incredible powers. You must defend the city. Defeat our enemies. And look what we have lost. Be strong. Copied from reddit user forestl: Info: Gameplay: -a "shared world shooter" -it will be a class based game (3 classes shown off so far. are Vanguard, Hunter, and Warlock) -needs online connection -Has ships in it (also land based vehicles) -can go to other planets (maybe add/sell new planets post release) -will last 10 years -has "Dungeons" in it -Journey like multiplayer in that anyone can come in (number of people who can enter your world are design controlled) -you can form squads (co-op party can have at least 6) -no lobby or matchmaking traditional services -hub city where people can meet up to talk, will be allowed to gamble -in city the game will be in third person -lots of customization in it -some sort of loot system -have prefab parts -will have iOS app -supports live events -multiple enemy factions Making of: -started on it in 2006ish -Paul McCartney will make music for it: from the destructoid link they say that they "didn't only want to do Paul McCartney kind music and just look for a new vehicle for him. He actually wants to get involved in how themes are worked into the game, how melodies and motives can be an emotional touch point for people as they're playing the game, and we're really collaborating on this." -used to be codenamed tiger -only has talked about it on ps3 and 360 (apparently stressed about how they are good at making "console" shooters) (could be moved onto new systems) -everything in the game has to meet 5 pillars of design philosophy (and then 2 more) -A world players want to be in -A bunch of fun things to do -Rewards players care about -A new experience every night -Shared with other people -Enjoyable to all skill levels -Enjoyable by the tired, impatient, and distracted Setting: -takes place in the future -set in our universe -players help create story in some way (being compared to GoT in how stories are told) -will be finding ancient human settlements on other worlds -human race was almost wiped out by unknown force -The "Traveler" sacrificed himself to save humanity -the giant ball is his ship, called the sphere -grants power to the cities warriors, you will gain access to the travelers technology Links http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/a-gr...sti/2300-7055/[1] http://www.gamesradar.com/destiny-in...-next-shooter/[2] http://www.gamesradar.com/destiny-concept-art-analysis/[3] http://www.destructoid.com/how-paul-...k-245298.phtml[4] http://www.destructoid.com/the-first...d-245007.phtml[5] http://www.gametrailers.com/videos/4...iny-first-take[6] http://oneofswords.com/2013/02/destiny/[7] http://www.destinythegame.com/[8]

I'd just like to point out the fact that the topic on Destiny was posted by Deoxys.
Also this game looks neat. Is it an MMO? |

Conspiracy theories can begin now. Hue hue. It's been shot down by Bungie that it's an MMO, but from what it sounds like, it may as well be one. Given that it's always online and you're basically playing the game with other people... yeah, sure sounds like one. |

This really does look like an MMO. The fact that they want it to last 10 years and is multiplayer all the time and has no lobby or matchmaking really does scream MMO.
If it's based on a 'dungeon' quest system, it's not that different from PSO2 or Monster Hunter, which is an MMO and like-an-MMO respectively. |

Yeah this is basically an MMO shooter. It does have a "campaign" though... I was under the impression that the "MMO" part worked more like the way Journey does than how other MMOs do, though.
