Scolipede Extroph's Art Showcase

Hello UPN! My name's Extroph, and I consider myself an artist, to some extent. I just wanted to make a thread to showcase my art, since I'm sure most of you aren't familiar with my work. I'm sure they're not as good as the art from the more famous people around here, but I sincerely hope you guys enjoy!

Userbars:

I used to be very active in the competitive section of Serebii, and have been an artist for many guilds for a time. Here's some of my favorite userbars during my time as a Guild Artist.

Spoiler: show

As you can see, I liked making weird and complex userbars as to make them unique (except the rainbow one, for it was a remake of an older userbar). Serebii gets a lot of great artists, and I wanted to try my best and make something that I could call my own. However, Serebii is also known to be... resourceful, and so various artists have already began implementing some of the styles in their userbars as well.

Banners:

Spoiler: show

Just some of my favorites. I've done so many banners over the years, but these are my most favorite recent ones. The first one has an alternative color scheme (one's my sig in Sppf, one's my sig here). I like the second one because of the general shape I created. The third I like because I was going for the usual hexagonal teams made very common by EG (I kinda started it though, but nb ) but with a twist! The fourth may seem very simple, but it took a while to create! And the last one is because I liked the overall clean look.

Drawings:

I also draw, and here are some of the drawings I've created when I borrowed my friend's tablet!

Spoiler: show

And some hand drawn ones:

Spoiler: show

Well, that's all (for now)! Thanks for reading!

Ahw man, those drawings are amazing. I have a tablet but I'm never able to make any good drawings on photoshop even though I can draw fairly good on paper.

Hextroph Request Information

As of November 1, 2014, any form of Hextroph requests made after the date will have the following changes applied.
Would you like to request a Hextroph banner? Listed below are some information you need to know before requesting!

Price Range:
A Hextroph's price range depends on your squad count. The more Pokemon you have, the more expensive it will get. The reasoning behind this is the creation of a Hextroph is tedious, and the work load increases after every Pokemon. Symmetry, Honeycomb size, color scheme, and other things are put into thought while making a Hextroph, but it all relies on Pokemon count.
>30 Pokemon or less = 2 SP
>30-50 Pokemon = 3 SP
>51-80 Pokemon = 4 SP
>81-100 Pokemon = 5 SP
>101-150 Pokemon* = 6 SP
*The maximum number of Pokemon that can be requested is 150

Hextroph Edits:
Edits can be requested to be made, but some come with a price. Check below for edits that can be requested:
>Add 1 Pokemon = Free
>Add more than 1 Pokemon = .1 SP per Pokemon

>Replacement of Pokemon apply similarly to adding Pokemon, and will cost the same amount of SP as above. So for example, if you want to replace one Pokemon, it's free. If you want to replace 2 Pokemon, it's .2 SP, etc.
>Background color change = Free
>Pokemon trainer change = Free
After requesting an edit, you may not request another edit until a week later. The color code means that you can only request one per color every week. This means that you can replace a Pokemon, change background color, and change trainers all in one edit request, but you may not request to get 1 Pokemon added while requesting other Pokemon to get added after to reduce the price.

Request Form:
To request a Hextroph, you must send me a private message. Your message must contain the following:
>Pokemon trainer of choice
>Color scheme
>Number of Pokemon in your squad
>A list of Pokemon in your squad OR a link to your updated squad summary

Optionally, you may also add the following information:
>Recolors of Pokemon (including shiny Pokemon)
>Recolor of trainer if applicable

Also, you must have your SP ready when you request. I don't want to have to chase you down for them. You may only give me the SP after your request has been finished.

FAQ's:
Listed below are some frequently asked questions.

What are Hextrophs?
Hextrophs are basically banners that display your squad. Its design is meant to be appealing to the eyes. Its design first began when I was experimenting on banners in 2011. I had the idea of using a geometrical shape in a banner. Back then, I was using a free software called sumopaint, similar to Photoshop. After using it for a while, I moved on to other unique banner ideas. However, when I saw that EG had been successful with using the style in the ASB community, I decided to bring it back in the form of Hextrophs.

How many Hextrophs can I order?
As many as you want, really. If you want to display a certain group of Pokemon, such as a Gym squad, then you can order that. However, people tend to order Hextrophs that display their whole squad altogether.

How long does it usually take for you to make Hextrophs?
Usually, when I'm feeling creative/work-oriented, I sit down and finish about 1-3 Hextrophs in about an hour. However, I'm usually busy with IRL stuff so the wait usually extends from 2-3 days to as long as a week or two.

If I already ordered a Hextroph, will the new prices apply to me?
Only the prices that have to do with Editing. If you requested an edit before this post has been updated (November 1, 2014), then that edit request is free.

How come your Hextrophs cost SP?
I feel like the quality of Hextrophs deserve at least some SP. Plus, free SP is always good.

I'm really impressed with your sketches, the way you draw the human form in particular. Well done.

Thank you! I've done a lot of study with the human body (nothing in person though, just secondary sources). I need to master how to draw: faces, hands, feet, and muscles on the back.

I had to draw a master study for my art class, and I was assigned Leonardo da Vinci as the artist to study. My theme was "age", and, in hindsight, I now see why the teacher chose da Vinci for me. His paintings and works include people of different ages and it was definitely a challenge when I worked on my master study.

Time spent: Total of 4 hours and 45 minutes
Medium: Charcoal and pencil on Mix Media pad paper

Spoiler: show

Some mistakes I made include:
-St. Anne's face. Her face is supposed to be broader, but I made it too slim.
-The overall angle of the picture. I tend to draw slanted, so that definitely played a part in how the sketch turned out.
-The angle of Baby Jesus' face. It's supposed to be tilted back more.
-Mary's face is also supposed to be broader.
-The folds of St. Anne's dress aren't as accurate as I wanted. Plus, they're kinda sloppy.

All these mistakes I noticed AFTER I finished the study, which kinda sucks. But hey, I learned a lot of stuff while working on this project, so that's always good.

Critiques or comments are always appreciated! Thanks in advance!

S'more art~

These are old, but here are the prototypes that I've found of the Hextroph banners today:

Spoiler: show

By prototypes I mean they're banners that are supposed to link someone to one's Squad Summaries (which is what Hextrophs were originally for but they're too large now)

Bonus:
Spoiler: show
I painted my girlfriend

It was my first time using watercolor and watercolor paper as my medium, so I decided to take it easy and use only one color. I've been told to use more water next time though.

My first attempt at drawing and coloring something with my new drawing tablet! I need to work on coloring inside the lines, so I'll improve on that with my next drawing.

I kind of want to make my version of Poke-Avengers for the heck of it. Not sure yet!

I most likely will! But I have to keep practicing for a little bit more to shake off the rust. I haven't drawn in two months!

Everything looks great, but I have to say that I am the most impressed with your handart. The outlines are somehow both well-defined and pleasant to see, and the texture of the paper makes them look even better.

So if you plan to draw The Hulk, would you go the "Giant Pokemon" route like Beartic or Ursaring, or would you go "Angry" Pokemon route like Primape? But good stuff up here gotta say!
