Espeon Evenfall Academy Battle 1: Vs. Slowpoke

Dynamax Boss Slowpoke
★★★
Health Gauge: 100%
Shields Up: 0
Status: [N/A]
Trainer Status: [N/A]
Terrain: Electric via Pincurchin’s Electric Surge (4 Turns Remaining)
KO Count: 0

Raid Challengers:
  • Emp (Corsola (Galarian)): 300 HP [Mummy Bandages]
  • Pearl’s Perap (Tynamo): 300 HP [Magnet]
  • Missingno. Master (Pincurchin): 300 HP
  • Sandaa (Exeggutor (Alolan)): 300 HP [Yache Berry]

As the raiders arrive, their thinking gets a bit hazy, and they find Gym Leader Hugo lying down nearby in a state that one could only call dazed and confused. Since there are no suspicious smelling smoke clouds in the vicinity, they quickly deduce it’s the giant Slowpoke who, though clearly a bit off, still poses a significant threat that must be dealt with. Daria the Corsola is primed and ready to Dynamax, if her trainer so chooses.

Dynamax Initiative: Emp, Corsola
  • Trainers may only list 1 order per round. They are also permitted to using 1 item in lieu of an attack.
  • Dynamax Initiative will select a trainer at random. If a trainer has initiative, they may choose to Dynamax their Pokemon for a duration of 3 turns. Dynamaxed Pokemon may only select a Max Attack of a corresponding type from their registered moveset, or Max Guard in place of status moves.
  • If a hold item or ability’s effect is activated in the present round as a result of the previous round’s damage calculation or the present round’s orders, please state it clearly in your response.
  • If a trainer’s Pokemon is rendered unconscious, they may choose to cheer on their allies; opting to either remove one shield from the raid boss or healing one ally’s Pokemon by 50% of their max health.
  • Roleplaying your orders is optional, but $250 may be collected for responses of 250 words or greater, and Bond will accumulate only for the trainer’s active Pokemon in battle.
  • You have until Saturday, February 6th to place your order.

Zak could remember signing himself and Spunky the Tynamo up to help with something but he found himself overcome with that disarming feeling you get when you head into a room and then can’t remember why you’re in there the moment you cross the threshold. The location they found themselves in was a stunning but completely unfamiliar school of some kind and an ornate sign told the pair they were currently standing at the Evenfall Academy. At least they knew something, though that alone meant next to nothing right now.

Despite the sudden amnesia that had overcome the two, Zak and Spunky entered the main doors of the building, somehow compelled through its halls to somewhere deep within. That somewhere turned out to be a gigantic gymnasium and within the cavernous room was a potential source for their confusions. At one end, a man lay splayed out, looking somewhat dazed but in the centre of the space stood a gigantic Slowpoke.

“Zzzzt!” The EleFish crackled at the sight of the massive mammal and the man who lay in a heap on the gymnasium floor not all too far from the beast. This had to be what the pair had come to assist with... didn’t it? Even if it wasn’t, they couldn’t leave the guy to potentially get trampled by the dopey Dynamaxed Pokémon and Zak and the Electric type headed into the gym in unison. As they did, they saw that they weren’t alone; another trainer who seemed incredibly familiar having already stepped in alongside his Alolan Exeggutor to help with the Slowpoke.

“Spunky, get ready to unleash an Infestation (20BP) on that oaf!”

"...Wat is the Gym Leada doin'?" Meowth wondered out loud as he and Keith drew nearer to the gargantuan Normal Form Slowpoke.

"...losing his damn mind, if I had to guess," Keith murmured. "That Slowpoke must be messing with his mind somehow. We better be careful, Meowth- gotta keep our wits about us."

"Ehh, don't worry," purred Meowth. "Youse starts actin' screwy, I can fix dat wit a Scratch attack ta da face."

"A light one," Keith said sternly, already plucking the Ultra Ball off his belt. "I need my wits about me and my blood inside me. Alright, Fred, let's go!" he added, throwing the Ultra Ball.

Fred appeared in a flash of light, looking up at the humongous Slowpoke before him. "Curchin curchin! Piiiiiiincurchin!" he declared, as a powerful Electric Surge spread out all across the ground. Keith grinned as the terrain they stood on crackled with electricity.

"Electric Terrain right from da start," Meowth grinned. "Hard ta argue wit dat."

"I agree completely, Meowth," Keith nodded. He blinked as he could somewhat feel the strange sensation from the Slowpoke's presence. It wasn't impacting his thinking to nearly the same extent that it seemed to be affecting the Gym Leader, but there was really no telling why, at least not that Keith could see. Maybe it was that Keith was still at a relatively considerable distance compared to Hugo. Maybe it was Keith being one quarter Gastly? Even with Gastly being weak to Psychic, the species was still known to be relatively resistant to mind-altering effects. Maybe it was Keith's Mega Hat somehow shielding him a bit? Well, no time to think about that in any case- they had a battle to start off, and start it off they did in fine fashion. "Alright, Fred, give it the Rising Voltage attack!" Keith commanded.

"Curchiiiiin piiiiiiiiiin!" Fred cried out, causing electricity to erupt from the ground beneath Slowpoke, mixing with the electrically charged terrain for even more power.

OOC: Fred used Rising Voltage (70 BP; Electric Terrain).

Dynamax Boss Slowpoke
★★★
Health Gauge: 83%
Shields Up: 0
Status: [+1 Sp. Attack, +1 Sp. Defense, Seeded, Infested (4 Turns Remaining), Burned]
Trainer Status: [N/A]
Terrain: Psychic (4 Turns Remaining)
KO Count: 0

Raid Boss Attack Summary:

Attack 1: Calm Mind (0 BP)
Slowpoke raised its Special Attack and Special Defense!
Attack 2: Max Mindstorm (140 BP)
Missingno. Master, Pincurchin (69 HP); The battlefield got weird!

Raid Challengers:
  • Emp, Corsola (Galarian): 300 HP [Mummy Bandages]
  • Pearl’s Perap, Tynamo: 300 HP [Magnet]
  • Missingno. Master, Pincurchin: 69 HP
  • Sandaa, Exeggutor (Alolan): 300 HP [Yache Berry]

The raiders, for the most part, are able to fend off the assault on their mental faculties by distracting Slowpoke with a battle, loosening his psychic grip a bit. They engage the Dopey Pokemon with an attempt to play the long game, barraging it with leech seeds, infesting its fuzzy pink fur, and scorching it with an ethereal flame causing minimal damage now, but setting it up for a really bad time going forward. Pincurchin, on the other hand, takes full advantage of the terrain it created by blasting the enemy with a massive electric shock causing significant immediate damage. Despite the onslaught, the massive Slowpoke pauses for a moment and focuses inward, calming itself and raising its capabilities in the process, before unleashing a power blast of brainwaves toward the combatants, directly striking Pincurchin and weirding out the terrain. The Dynamax initiative passes on to Gary’s Alolan Exeggutor who somehow can now grow even larger than it already is. Hugo, meanwhile, continues to lie on the ground, seemingly blissfully unaware of what’s going on around him, staring at his hands, like…just staring at them.

Dynamax Initiative: Sandaa, Exeggutor (Alolan)
  • You have until Sunday, February 7th to place your order.

Choosing to engage the the Dynamaxed Slowpoke, it wasn’t long before Spunky was joined by a number of other Pokémon sent out by another pair of familiar faces. Familiar how was a mystery but they definitely seemed like people the man and his Tynamo knew. With four Pokémon unified against the giant mammal, the group quickly set about creating more long term problems for the beast. Having been simultaneously burned, infested and covered with leeching seeds, only the Pincurchin unleashed a powerful Rising Voltage attack against their foe, triggering the giant creature into retaliating as it did so.

Turning its attentions to the team of Pokémon and their trainers before it, the Dynamaxed dope closed its eyes and cleared its thoughts, calming its mind in preparation for the battle to come. With its perception elevated, the Slowpoke focused in on the Pincurchin who had recently attacked it to deliver a powerful retaliative Max Mindstorm. With this attack, the terrain in the gymnasium changed in moments, a peculiar aura clinging to the air to further compliment the group’s mass befuddlement.

With Spunky having successfully infested the monster’s pink fur with his legion of tiny parasites, it was now time to switch to a more offensive strike against the Slowpoke. Given the bonding Zak and the EleFish had undergone over the last few months, he had been able to learn a series of powerful attacks that couldn’t typically be learned by a Tynamo. Now seemed as good a time as any to put one of the moves to good use and the man called over to the floating Electric Type:

“Spunky - with your infestation setting in, it’s time to strike that Slowpoke down with Thunder (110BP + Magnet)!”

"...What is the Gym Leader doing?" Willa frowned. She and the others had tuned in to Channel 890, where Diana Macks was doing her live coverage of the Slowpoke raid. It did not escape anyone's notice that the Gym Leader had been acting... odd. Indeed, as Willa was speaking this out loud, Marv Liss, Diana Macks's cameraman and boyfriend, had most helpfully chosen this moment to zoom in on the Gym Leader, who was acting quite odd in the presence of the Dynamaxed Slowpoke.

"Clearly the Dynamax Energy is amplifying the Slowpoke's psychic powers," Eddie murmured, glasses flashing with reflected light as he watched the TV screen intently. "This is most fascinating... I've never known a Slowpoke of any sort to be able to impede one's mental faculties like this. As the result of actively attacking, certainly, but this appears to be something it's doing passively, a byproduct of its mere presence!" He plunged his hand into his bag, pulling out his copy of Kanto Myths and Legends by Viridian Coffee and Anne Mewtruck, and flipping it open. "I know Grandma and Grampa have made mention of similar things in here... oh, this draws all the more parallels between Dynamax and cryptopokology!" he murmured excitedly.

"How's Dad doing, though?" Maribel wondered out loud, also watching the broadcast intently.

"Your father is almost certainly fine," Willa stated softly, sporting a small smile. "He is not so easily messed with."

"Mm, not to mention his experiences in the past," Eddie piped up. "There are several reasons why Keith's mental fortitude here would come as no surprise to me."

"Y'know, I believe it," Gavin nodded. "Dude ain't so easily messed with."

Terri nodded. "Luna was not worried when I spoke with her earlier," she said simply. "If there was reason to be concerned for Keith here, I think we would all know by now." This was met with murmurs of unanimous agreement from all present, all of whom knew well how well such news boded.

~~~~~
Slowpoke had first gone for Calm Mind, and then bombarded Fred with a Max Mindstorm, leaving the Pincurchin with a relatively piddly, yet undeniably nice, handful of hit points. Moreover, the crackling electricity had fizzled out, and in its place, sheer unadulterated weirdness permeated the battlefield. This, Keith knew, was Psychic Terrain, and it didn't bode well for them.
"So wat now?" Meowth murmured. "Anotha Risin' Voltage?"
"Nah," Keith shook his head. "Slowpoke's gonna take special attacks way better now, and if there's no Electric Terrain, Rising Voltage isn't nearly as strong."
"Well, ya betta tink o' somethin'," Meowth persisted.
"Already got something, Meowth," Keith nodded. "Don't give in, Fred!" he called. "Prepare for Spark attack!"
OOC: Fred used Spark (65 BP).
Dynamax Boss Slowpoke
★★★
Health Gauge: 68%
Shields Up: 0
Status: [+2 Sp. Attack, -1 Defense, Seeded, Infested (3 Turns Remaining), Burned]
Trainer Status: Light Screen (4 Turns Remaining)
Terrain: Psychic (3 Turns Remaining)
KO Count: 1
Raid Boss Attack Summary:
Attack 1: Max Ooze (95 BP)
Missingno. Master, Pincurchin (0 HP); Slowpoke raised its Special Attack!
Attack 2: Expanding Force (80 BP)
Emp, Corsola (180 HP)
Pearl’s Perap, Tynamo (180 HP)
Sandaa, Exeggutor (Alolan) (380 HP)
Trainer Healing Summary:
Leech Seed
Sandaa, Exeggutor (Alolan) (430 HP)
Raid Challengers:
  • Emp (Corsola (Galarian)): 180 HP
  • Pearl’s Perap (Tynamo): 180 HP
  • Missingno. Master (Pincurchin): 0 HP [Must Sit Out One Round Before Recovering]
  • Sandaa (Exeggutor (Alolan)): 430 HP [Dynamaxed, 2 Turns Remaining]
Okay, so now Slowpoke is pissed. Tynamo blasts the beast with a shocking, magnet-boosted Thunder, and Corsola protects the team by shielding them with light. In response, the Slowpoke erects three barriers, which are quickly taken down by the Pincurchin and the now Dynamaxed Exeggutor whose heads are almost certainly in orbit, lowering Slowpoke’s Defense and Special Defense in the process. If Hugo wasn’t totally dazed, he’d be furious at the damage to the gymnasium’s roof. Meanwhile, Slowpoke retaliates by vomiting all over Pincurchin with Max Ooze, countering out the Light Screen by raising its Special Attack, adding to the boost it already received from the previous Calm Mind. But that’s not all. It assaults the opposing Corsola, Tyanmo and oversized Exeggutor with a force that seems to grow as it lands. It continues to suffer from the burn, infestation, and leech seed.
Dynamax Initiative: Sandaa, Exeggutor (Alolan)
  • Trainers may only list 1 order per round. They are also permitted to using 1 item in lieu of an attack.
  • Dynamax Initiative will select a trainer at random. If a trainer has initiative, they may choose to Dynamax their Pokemon for a duration of 3 turns. Dynamaxed Pokemon may only select a Max Attack of a corresponding type from their registered moveset, or Max Guard in place of status moves.
  • If a hold item or ability’s effect is activated in the present round as a result of the previous round’s damage calculation or the present round’s orders, please state it clearly in your response.
  • If a trainer’s Pokemon is rendered unconscious, they may choose to cheer on their allies; opting to either remove one shield from the raid boss or healing one ally’s Pokemon by 50% of their max health.
  • Roleplaying your orders is optional, but $250 may be collected for responses of 250 words or greater, and Bond will accumulate only for the trainer’s active Pokemon in battle.
  • You have until Tuesday, February 9th to place your order.
Spunky the Tynamo was first to make a move in the next round against the Dynamaxed Slowpoke, crackling eagerly as he charged up a Magnet-infused Thunder to strike his foe as hard as he could. In response to this, the monstrous mammal set about defending itself with a triple paned defence system at the same time as the Galarian Corsola set about erecting similar for the raiders. The Dynamax defences proved to be futile, though, as the Pincurchin and Alolan Exeggutor made swift work of destroying them and leaving the Dopey Pokémon unguarded once again.
Turning its attention to retaliating against the Pokémon gathered before it, the Psychic type vomits a deadly toxic mass onto the Pincurchin in the form of a Max Ooze. Ejecting the poisons from its system sees the Slowpoke feel an increase in power and, bolstered by this and the defeat of the urchin, it decides to unleash its fury upon the entire party. All around, the space seemed to be stretching and contracting as the monstrous mammal utilises its Expanding Force attack to damage each of the three Pokémon left standing.
With its shields quickly dealt with by other members of the party, Zak thought the best strategy would be to continue with an all-out assault against the beast from Spunky. Given how well the last attack had ended, the man decided there was no point deviating from things as he called his next order to the EleFish:
“Spunky, time for another Thunder (110BP + Magnet) to hit that gormless effort where it hurts!”
"...Aha, yes!" Eddie grinned, finding what he was looking for in his book. "Yes, yes, the effects first documented by the father of cryptopokology himself- my great-great-great-great-great grandfather, Bartholomew Starmie. He writes about strange effects certain Pokémon he discovered can sometimes have on people, altering their mental states, even scrambling their visual perception of their Pokémon. If Dynamax Energy mixing with Slowpoke can cause mental sluggishness in others as a passive effect, then that lends further credence to the notion that the source of Dynamax Energy may in fact be linked to cryptopokology!" He slammed his book shut, revealing the tape recorder in his hand he had been recording his words with.
"Yeah, this Dynamax is screwy stuff, for sure," Gavin nodded. "Friggin' awesome, but screwy."
"Oh, ZZAZZ, yes," Eddie nodded in agreement. "The discovery of Dynamax took the cryptopokology community by storm."
Maribel, meanwhile, was looking curiously at the sentient palm tree that was getting a lot more focus now that it was even taller than it usually was, which was already pretty freaking tall. "Is that... an Exeggutor?" she murmured. "They're not usually that tall, right? Even discounting the Dynamaxing, I mean?"
"Indeed," Willa confirmed. "That is an Alolan Exeggutor."
"Ahh," Maribel nodded, taking out her Rotom Phone. "OK, Rotom- tell me about Alolan Exeggutor," she stated.
An image of an Alolan Exeggutor appeared on screen. "Exeggutor- Alolan Form- the Coconut Pokémon. A Grass and Dragon-type, and the evolved form of Exeggcute," said Rotom. "Strong sunlight allows it to grow larger than the stumpy Exeggutor outside of Alola- wait, this thing's a Dragon-type? Is that all it takes, is a long neck and another head growing out of its a- MMPH!" it muffled in protest as Maribel unceremoniously shoved the Rotom Phone back into her bag.
"I heard that Alolan Exeggutor have weaker psychic abilities than Normal Form Exeggutor," stated Terri. "Apparently the strong sunlight of Alola allows it to reach its full potential and outgrow the need for psychic powers while awakening the power of the sleeping dragon within."
~~~~~

"OK, wow, that's the biggest Exeggutor I've ever seen," Keith chuckled as Gary Dynamaxed his Alolan Exeggutor.

"Yeah, it's big, but keep an eye on da battle!" Meowth exclaimed urgently. And indeed, no sooner had Keith turned back to face Fred did he see a potent Max Ooze strike the Pincurchin, robbing him of his very nice remaining hit points.

"Ah, no! Fred, come back now!" Keith exclaimed, withdrawing his Pincurchin. Already he felt the Dynamax Energy swirling around the Ultra Ball, working its healing magic, while more Dynamax Energy still gathered in the Wishing Star in his Dynamax Band. Knowing what to do with this, Keith wordlessly took aim at the massive Exeggutor, and fired off a bundled beam of Dynamax Energy to heal the Grass/Dragon-type up.

OOC: Cheering to heal Eggdrasil the Alolan Exeggutor.

Dynamax Boss Slowpoke
★★★
Health Gauge: 45%
Shields Up: 1
Status: Seeded, Infested (2 Turns Remaining), Ability Nullifed (1 Turn Remaining)
Trainer Status: Light Screen (3 Turns Remaining), Abilities Nullified except Pincurchin (1 Turn Remaining)
Terrain: Electric (5 Turns Remaining)
KO Count: 1

Trainer Healing Summary:

Missingno. Master, Pincurchin: Cheer
Sandaa, Exeggutor (Alolan) (500 HP)
Raid Boss Attack Summary:

Attack 1: Psychic (90 BP)
Emp, Corsola (Galarian) (4 HP)
Attack 2: Shockwave (0 BP)
Slowpoke cleared all stat changes and cured itself of ill statuses, and negated all abilities next round!

Raid Challengers:
  • Emp (Corsola (Galarian)): 4 HP
  • Pearl’s Perap (Tynamo): 180 HP
  • Missingno. Master (Pincurchin): 300 HP
  • Sandaa (Exeggutor (Alolan)): 500 HP [Dynamaxed, 1 Turns Remaining]

The raiders take the opportunity to unleash hell upon Slowpoke. Keith riles up Exeggutor with a supportive cheer, giving the giant tree a boost, before the team pummels Slowpoke with a spooky hex (boosted by the burn) and a shocking Thunder (boosted by the Magnet). However, before the Dynamaxer can unleash leafy terror, Slowpoke throws up another three barriers, two of which are promptly destroyed. In retaliation, Slowpoke channels its Psychic abilities, giving the ghostly Corsola’s brains a scramble, before releasing a shockwave that cures itself of the burn and clears the stat changes, both positive and negative, of itself and the raiders. The shockwave also nullifies abilities, except for the returning Pincurchin’s. The Light Screen remains in place though, as does the seeding and infestation (for now). Hugo meanwhile keeps trying to blow bubbles with his own spit on the floor.

Dynamax Initiative: Sandaa, Exeggutor (Alolan)
  • You have until Wednesday, February 10th to place your order.

"Ah, fuck, Fred's down!" swore Gavin as he saw Keith's Pincurchin faint.

"Gavin! Language!" Willa said sharply, with a glance at Maribel.

"Mom, my first word was 'shit'," Maribel reminded her mother. "And Uncle Gavin didn't say anything I haven't heard out of him a hundred times when he thought I couldn't hear him."

"Yeah, she's got a point," Gavin said fairly. "That ship has sailed, gotten abducted by a Shadow Lugia, dumped in the desert, and inhabited by a homeless guy and a Bonsly. It's an Orre saying," he added in response to the questioning looks he got.

"Yes, well, be that as it may, I would still prefer if you could at least try to set a better example," Willa persisted.

"I am trying," said Gavin. "How many times you hear me swear in front of Maribel this year?"

"At least twelve, and it's only February," retorted Willa.

"Hey, the times where I stubbed a toe don't count!" Gavin protested.

"And yet, I'm counting those times," Willa insisted with a smirk, said smirk slightly widening as Gavin's response very quickly fizzled out into a frustrated groan, clearly not wanting to give Willa an excuse to amend her count to thirteen anytime soon. "You may relax, Gavin," said Willa after a moment. "If you were truly that bad of an influence on Maribel, my objections to you would be quite unambiguous."

"Yeah, no, I get it, though," Gavin nodded. "Real talk- I am trying to watch myself with the swearing. You and Keith, you're good parents," he stated.

"Yeah, you really are," Terri piped up.

"Agreed," Eddie chimed in.

"I think so, too," smiled Maribel.

Willa could not help but smile at these kind words. Unable to find the right words to give an adequate response, she gave a small nod that conveyed her gratitude well enough. "...and it seems Fred's already recovered," she stated, for as she watched...

~~~~~
...Keith threw the Ultra Ball. "One more time- Fred, let's go!" he declared as the Pincurchin reappeared, once more sending a forceful Electric Surge rippling through the battlefield. To Keith's satisfaction, Fred's stay in his Ultra Ball kept him safe from the effects of the Slowpoke's recent shockwave, allowing his Ability to activate once more, replacing the Psychic Terrain with Electric Terrain.
"Now dere's an upside o' Fred goin' down like dat," purred Meowth. "Gave youse an opportunity ta change back da terrain."
"Couldn't have said it better myself," Keith nodded. He waited, but then noticed that the Trainer with the Tynamo was also waiting. Keith considered this- he saw that Tynamo deliver a powerful Thunder earlier, and he realized that since the shockwave happened, the Tynamo must not have Levitate at this moment- its attack would actually be subject to the Electric Terrain's benefits! "Hm," he murmured, looking at the Tynamo, then at his Pincurchin, and then at the almost destroyed shield the Slowpoke had put up. And then at the severely beaten-down Galarian Corsola, also waiting on something, presumably an opportunity to heal up, and then at the Dynamaxed Alolan Exeggutor, whose Max Moves would surely be overkill here. And that's when it dawned on Keith- the best choice to finish off that shield was none other than Fred! "Let's do it! Time to break that shield, Fred!" Keith exclaimed.
"EH?!" Meowth exclaimed, looking at Keith as if he was crazy. "Is dat Slowpoke gettin' in yer head afta all?! Da shield ain't down yet!"
"My head's as clear as a Yanma's wing, Meowth!" Keith declared. "The best thing we can do right now is pave the way for the others! OK, Fred, use your Thunder Shock, now!" he commanded.
"Piiiiiin cuuuuuuuuuurch!" exclaimed Fred, sending a jolt of electricity right at the shield, with the hopes of ripping right through it, leaving the way clear for the others to do what they had to do.
OOC: Fred used Thunder Shock (40 BP; Electric Terrain, though this is hitting a shield).
With their sights set on battering the Dynamaxed Slowpoke, Spunky and his fellow raiders continued their assault upon the massive mammal. Pairing both a boosted Hex with a boosted Thunder, it isn’t long before the party manages to push the desperate dope to activate its next trio of defensive panes. Before the Slowpoke can return the offensive favour, the skyscraper of an Alolan Exeggutor destroys two of the shields with the greatest of ease, leaving the beast with just one lone pane remaining.
Despite the ease with which the raiders had removed the majority of its shielding efforts, the Dynamaxed Slowpoke seemed more focused on taking down the raiders than worrying about its depleting defences. Turning to the Galarian Corsola, its vacant eyes start to glow a faint blue and it begins to utilise its powerful psychic abilities on the ghoulish coral, warping its mind as it does so. That wasn’t all the monstrous mammal had in store for the raiding party, though, releasing a Shockwave that would see all of their power boosts reduced as well as nullifying their abilities.
Zak had hoped that something like this might happen, given how Spunky’s ability had prevented him from making the most of the Pincurchin’s Electric Terrain. Now that this wasn’t a problem, the EleFish could take full advantage of the enhancement and the man made sure to let his pocket rocket of a partner know:
“Don’t worry about your ability being nullified, Spunky - that just means you and your Thunder (110BP + Magnet) can actually make use of the terrain’s boosting properties for the time being!”
Why be the life of the party when you can simply drain the party away... Giga Drain (75 BP + Grassy Terrain)
Dynamax Boss Slowpoke
★★★
Health Gauge: 13%
Shields Up: 0
Status: -1 Defense, Seeded, Infested (1 Turns Remaining)
Trainer Status: Light Screen (2 Turns Remaining)
Terrain: Grassy (4 Turns Remaining)
KO Count: 3
Trainer Healing Summary:
Emp, Corsola (Galarian): Giga Drain (75 BP)
Emp, Corsola (Galarian) (85 HP)
Raid Boss Attack Summary:
Attack 1: Max Quake (130 BP)
Pearl’s Perap, Tynamo (0 HP)
Attack 2: Aqua Tail (90 BP)
Emp, Corsola (Galarian) (0 HP)
Raid Challengers:
  • Emp (Corsola (Galarian)): 0 HP [Must Sit Out One Round Before Recovering]
  • Pearl’s Perap (Tynamo): 0 HP [Must Sit Out One Round Before Recovering]
  • Missingno. Master (Pincurchin): 300 HP
  • Sandaa (Exeggutor (Alolan)): 300 HP
Pincurchin, able to avoid the ability nullification caused by the shockwave, returns to battle and immediately resets the terrain so it crackles with electricity, before taking down the last shield (along with Slowpoke’s Defense and Special Defense). The raiders wisely use the nulled abilities to their advantage, as Tynamo is now able to utilize the electric terrain and blasts Slowpoke with an absolutely brutal enhanced Thunder. But that’s not all. Exeggutor, on its last Dynamax attack, finally lands the Max Overgrowth, switching the terrain to Grassy, setting Corsola up for a boosted Giga Drain to try and recover some much needed health. Slowpoke appears to be wavering, its Psychic grip loosening apparently as Hugo comes to his senses and notices the giant hole in the ceiling caused by the Dynamaxed Exeggutor. “My insurance is never going to cover that!” he bemoans to no one in particular. Meanwhile, Slowpoke puts together one last gasp. It unleashes a Max Quake, which hits Tynamo causing it to fall– nullified abilites have their disadvantages too, you know – and reboosting its own Special Defense. It follows that up by smacking Corsola with the appendage Slowpoke are infamous for – its tail, which is heavy and sopping wet, taking down the spectral Pokemon as well. Exeggutor reverts back to its normal (but still gigantic) size. We’re coming down to the wire, with two combatants down, but the others at full health, and Slowpoke needing only one more fall.
Dynamax Initiative: Expired
  • Trainers may only list 1 order per round. They are also permitted to using 1 item in lieu of an attack.
  • Dynamax Initiative will select a trainer at random. If a trainer has initiative, they may choose to Dynamax their Pokemon for a duration of 3 turns. Dynamaxed Pokemon may only select a Max Attack of a corresponding type from their registered moveset, or Max Guard in place of status moves.
  • If a hold item or ability’s effect is activated in the present round as a result of the previous round’s damage calculation or the present round’s orders, please state it clearly in your response.
  • If a trainer’s Pokemon is rendered unconscious, they may choose to cheer on their allies; opting to either remove one shield from the raid boss or healing one ally’s Pokemon by 50% of their max health.
  • Roleplaying your orders is optional, but $250 may be collected for responses of 250 words or greater, and Bond will accumulate only for the trainer’s active Pokemon in battle.
  • You have until Friday, February 12th to place your order.
"Slowpoke is attacking relentlessly!" Diana Macks was saying. "Already, the Tynamo and Corsola have been taken down! Slowpoke looks on the verge of collapse, but will the Exeggutor and Pincurchin alone be enough to finish it off?!"
"Well, of course they will," Willa scoffed, as though the alternative was a ludicrous notion.
"You seem certain," observed Eddie. "I was under the impression this was Fred's first time in battle?"
"That isn't taking training into account," stated Willa. "Besides, Keith trusts in Fred's capabilities. That is sufficient for me."
"Yeah, dude knows what he's doing," nodded Gavin. "Besides, look at that thing," he added, for as Marv's infallible camerawork was showing, the Slowpoke had just taken a powerful Power Whip from the Alolan Exeggutor, and while it was still standing, it was very clearly on its last hit points. "A stiff breeze could finish it off, and Keith's Pokémon can do whole damn lot better than that."
"Language!" Willa said sharply.
"You're counting 'damn' as bad language now?!" Gavin exclaimed incredulously. "Arceus, Mew, and Helix, that word's tamer than a baby Wooloo! What the ffffff...Figy Berry..." he mumbled, stopping himself at the last second.
"...credit where credit's due, that sounded like heroic restraint," conceded Willa, while Maribel, Terri, and Eddie all laughed good-naturedly at the situation. Even Gavin gave a small chuckle, reflecting on how he'd sounded just then.
~~~~~

"Gah, that didn't take it down!?" Keith exclaimed in surprise, seeing that Slowpoke was still standing in spite of the Power Whip. "Grassy Terrain boosted and everything... Damn," he sighed.

"Curchin curchin!" Fred exclaimed encouragingly. "Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiincurchin!"

Keith nodded. "Right. You're right!" he declared. "Slowpoke's almost down, but if we don't act fast, it'll attack again, and if just one more of us goes down, it's game over! It's all you, Fred, so let's do this!" he declared. "Spark attack, let's go!"

"Piiiiiincurchin!!" Fred exclaimed, crackling with electricity as he threw himself at the Slowpoke.

OOC: Fred used Spark (65 BP).
