Slumbering Wilds Raid Battle 3: Gigantamax Rillaboom!
Raid Boss Rillaboom ★★★★★ Health Gauge: 100% Shields Up: 0 Status: None Raid Challengers MM, Mr. Mime: 300 HP Lit, Raichu: 500 HP Zorchic, Staravia: 400 HP SpinyShell, Kecleon: 300 HP Gary, Tropius: 400 HP Sniz, Dusknoir: 400 HP Yuki, Delibird: 500 HP Emp, Salandit: 400 HP Lost in the rhythm of his drums, Rillaboom barely acknowledges the sizable group who had gathered to bring him to heel. His dismissal is absolute, barely faltering as each Raider selects their champion - though, a brief flash of purple crimson light engulfing the figure of Perform seems to solicit a sneering disapproval. Dynamax initiative: MM, Mr. Mime

Selene stared up at the Gigantamax Rillaboom. A Galarian native, she was very familiar with the dramatic transformation having spent much of her life engaging in her homeregion’s famous pastime: watching the supersized battles plastered across a screen or on the edge of her stadium seat. Even when she was living in Alola, she was still hooked on the Dynamax craze, staying up late at night or waking up early in the morning to watch the battles unfold live.
She had never joined the gym challenge, never got a chance to be on the pitch with her wrist aglow with Galar particles. Becoming a trainer seemed to conflict with her interest in academics and schooling, and she had shunned Pokémon until meeting Prism at the Aether Paradise, too ashamed to admit that she liked the rough and tumble sport of Pokémon battling and too fearful of straying from the rigid path she had set out for herself. So, to stand here now, in front of a Gigantamax Pokémon… it was far more exhilarating than she would admit. She had never thought what it would be like to be a challenger on the field, staring up at a giant Pokémon the size of a building. To feel the ground rumble ominously as the giant Rillaboom shifted its weight, to see each action magnified by a thousand. If she were a little younger, she would have nearly shaken apart in giddy excitement. Of course, just standing before a supersized Pokémon could not give one the full experience. Without any hint to her inner emotions, she called out to Prism, who had been busy entertaining herself with a colorful flower. “I think a Flamethrower would do well here.” Flamethrower (90 BP) with 10% burn chance Protean: Normal --> Fire

The Rillaboom's inexplicable ignorance of Perform's incredibly loud drum solo left the Loud Mime stunned, and the subsequent sneer of disapproval offended the Psychic/Fairy-type all the more. "GASP! HOW DAAAARE YOU SNEER UPON THE LOUD MIME! THE IMPUDENCE! THE AUDACITY! THE UNMITIGATED GALL!!" Perform bellowed for all in the raid (and the surrounding area) to hear.
"Perform- look!" Terri called out, holding up her right arm- the Dynamax Band on her wrist was aglow with Dynamax Energy, and in her right hand she held Perform's Fairy Ball, ready to act at a moment's notice. "What do you say?" she asked. "WHAT- DYNAMAX? MOI!?" responded Perform. "BY THE HORNS OF XERNEAS! A THRILLING AND UTTERLY TEMPTING NOTION INDEED! BUT! YOU AND I KNOW DAMN WELL THAT MY ROLE IN THIS FIGHT LIES ELSEWHERE! DOES IT NOT!?" Terri nodded, smiling, lowering her arm. "Indeed it does," she agreed. She'd seen this coming, if she was being honest, considering the more supporting role they'd agreed beforehand that the Mr. Mime would play in this raid battle. "EXCELLENT!" beamed Perform. "THEN LET US BEGIN!" "Yes, let's!" agreed Terri. "Perform, use Wide Guard!" "AND IT'S ON!!" boomed Perform, clapping his hands before him, creating a sound like a sudden peal of thunder as a widespread barrier with unique properties spread out to cover everyone present; against moves with only single targets, it wouldn't do a thing, but against more widespread moves, it would prove an impenetrable obstacle. Would it prove a viable strategy moving forward? Nobody could say for sure, not just yet. But either way, they would certainly soon find out. OOC: Perform used Wide Guard (0 BP; user has Soundproof, just throwing that out there). |

Raid Boss Rillaboom ★★★★★ Health Gauge: 85% Shields Up: 0 Status: Toxic Poisoning, Fire Spin (4), Atk +2, SpDef +1 KOs: 1 Raid Boss Attack Summary Attack 1: Swords Dance (0 BP) Attack 2: Max Quake (130 BP) SpinyShell, Kecleon: 66 HP Attack 3: Facade (140 BP) SpinyShell, Kecleon: 0 HP Raid Challengers MM, Mr. Mime: 300 HP Lit, Raichu: 500 HP Zorchic, Staravia: 400 HP SpinyShell, Kecleon: 0 HP [Must sit out one round until fully recovered] Gary, Tropius: 400 HP Sniz, Dusknoir: 300 HP [Voodoo Bugaloo, 100 HP] Yuki, Delibird: 500 HP Emp, Salandit: 400 HP The Raiders mount their assault, and soon make themselves the centre of the musicians attention. Many decide to go for passive methods, some protecting their comrades while others opt to lay insidious traps. The remainder, like Prism and Custard, discharge intense attacks, their stark temperature disparity seeming to irk Rillaboom to no end, the Grass type answering with screeching tones. Raising his drumsticks, the behemoth ups his tempo, the frantic beat empowering the gorilla as he rounds on Prism. a A knowing grin plasters his face as Rillaboom gathers tectonic might, striking the unfortunate Kecleon with a destructive Max Quake - the blow smarting all the more thanks to the sneaky shift in typing caused by Protean. Worse still, the ape's wrath is not quelled, the toxins within his body fuelling a horrifically violent beatdown, Prism buckling under the focused pressure. Dynamax initiative: Emp, Salandit

For all of Selene’s internal fangirling over Dyanmax and Gigantamax Pokémon, she had forgotten about one key thing--Max Moves. Her excitement quickly turned to worry as she watched the Rillaboom strike his tree trunk sized drumsticks against the drums, rapidly increasing to a feverish tempo as the ground rumbled and shook from the vibrations. Finally, at the climax of his solo, the gorilla grinned smugly before slamming his four leafy appendages against the ground, striking Prism with a powerful Max Quake that hurt all the more due to her newly acquired Fire typing. Prism staggered back from the blow, her scales dull in color and her knees wobbly as she panted, exhausted. Though despite the chameleon's fatigue, Selene couldn’t help but smile--even though the Rillaboom had struck with a super effective attack with a Swords Dance boost on top of it, Prism was still standing, albeit hanging by a thread. However, Selene’s snarky grin was wiped off her face as the gorilla rounded once again on the Kecleon, crushing her with a powerful Facade boosted by the toxins coursing through his veins. Her orange coloration faded to pale white as the chameleon staggered and then collapsed, all her strength gone. With a sigh, the scientist recalled the unfortunate Pokémon, her knuckles white as she gripped the Pokéball in frustration. Selene balled her fist. The only victim of this round was Prism… did the Rillaboom specifically target her, or was it just some coincidence? The Kecleon wasn’t the most threatening of the assembled Pokemon, but her unpredictable Protean ability could have blindsided the gorilla later in the raid--perhaps he was fearful of a Protean boosted Flying type attack. Or maybe he was just particularly annoyed by her Flamethrower, or the Kecleon was just the closest Pokémon to him... No matter the reason, the damage was already done and there was nothing Selene could do about it besides wait for Prism to recover. Cheering to heal Dusknoir

Earthquake. Hyper Voice. Snarl. Boomburst. Terri and Perform knew good and well that these moves and more were absolutely something to worry about from this opponent. they were in agreement that Wide Guard was a solid move to go for here. In raid battles just in general, it's proven to be a valuable asset in the past. But for this specific round, it turned out to not make the slightest difference.
"BY THE HORNS OF XERNEAS!" thundered Perform as Rillaboom proceeded to set up. "THAT'S SWORDS DANCE!" "Yeah, it just got even more dangerous!" agreed Terri. And as though to drive that point home, Rillaboom began to attack. A devastating Max Quake into the Kecleon, made super effective by the fact that the Kecleon's Protean Ability had changed its type to match the Fire-type Flamethrower it had hit Rillaboom with in the first place. This in and of itself didn't knock Kecleon out, but the third move Rillaboom used did the trick; Facade. And it had been badly poisoned by the Tropius's Toxic. That knocked the Kecleon clean out in one hit. "WELL, THIS SUCKS!" declared Perform. "MY WIDE GUARD DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!" "Yeah," frowned Terri. "It seems widespread attacks aren't the only thing to worry about here. Hmm," she murmured, seemingly deep in thought as she regarded the Rillaboom with an unreadable expression. "...Perform, use Power Swap," she said. "WHAT IN THE..." began Perform, before his eyes lit up. "BUT OF COURSE!" he grinned broadly. "A STROKE OF BRILLIANCE!" With that, he mimed the action of aiming a Poké Ball at his head, and once the inexplicable sound of a recall beam had died down, he placed the invisible sphere onto what sounded like the tray of an equally invisible trading machine. He then pulled a large yet invisible lever, and there was a whirring sound, as though of a trading machine roaring to life. Terri giggled at how over the top her Mr. Mime was being here- she wouldn't have him any other way. OOC: Perform used Power Swap (0 BP: User has no Attack or Sp. Atk changes; target has +2 Attack and no Sp. Atk changes; RP to come after a good night's sleep). Last edited by Missingno. Master; 12-06-2020 at 02:16 PM. Reason: Minor grammatical fix. |

Raid Boss Rillaboom ★★★★★ Health Gauge: 70% Shields Up: 8 Status: Toxic Poisoning, Fire Spin (3), SpDef +1 KOs: 1 Trainer Recovery Summary SpinyShell, Kecleon: Cheer Sniz, Dusknoir: 400 HP Raid Boss Attack Summary Attack 1: High Horsepower (95 BP) Lit, Raichu: 357 HP Attack 2: Boomburst (140 BP) MM, Mr. Mime: 300 HP Attack 3: Energy Ball (90 BP) Sneaze, Dusknoir: 400 HP Raid Challengers MM, Mr. Mime: 300 HP (Atk +2) Lit, Raichu: 357 HP (SpAtk +2) Zorchic, Staravia: 260 HP SpinyShell, Kecleon: 300 HP [Fully Recovered] Gary, Tropius: 260 HP Sniz, Dusknoir: 400 HP Yuki, Delibird: 500 HP Emp, Salandit: 260 HP Perform continues his tricky ways, making a theatrical song and dance of manipulating the Raid boss, stealing the offensive boosts of the behemoth for himself. Rillaboom scoffs at this - but his pithy amusement is soon scuppered. The raiders attack in droves, exploiting the frailty of Rillaboom to empower their own assault. Blow after blow rains into the Raid Boss, and by the end the besieged ape has strengthened his defences, raising flashing shields to create a bulwark against the last to strike. Shrieking indignance, the drummer once again shifts his tempo, this time hammering out a tribalistic rhythm, a furious backdrop for the carnage to follow. Striking with a ruddy, energy clad fist the gorilla smashes Lucas, before unleashing a cacophonous boom which bowls over Staravia, Coco and Salandit - though Perform remains smugly unharmed. Rillaboom then rounds on Marissa, launching a thick verdant sphere into her body - but she explodes violently, reflecting damage onto her assailant, much to his chagrin. Dynamax initiative: lilboo, Delibird

Selene watched as her fellow raiders’ Pokemon attacked the Rillaboom, watching with satisfaction as they chipped away at its shields. Though, she did grimace at the Mr. Mime’s loud and overthetop charade. Weren’t mimes supposed to be silent? Before she could grumble anymore, Selene felt the Pokeball in her hand shake once, twice, three times… it seemed Prism had recovered from the Rillaboom’s onslaught. With a flick of her wrist, she tossed the Pokeball and Prism burst forth in a flash of white and yellow light. The Kecleon landed daintily, her scales shimmering in various shades of cheery yellow as she spun around in a circle and stretched her limbs as if awakening from a restful nap. However, her joyous dance was interrupted by the Rillaboom’s drumming, reminding her that she was in the middle of a raid battle, against a Gigantamax Pokemon no less. Selene hid a smile before giving her command. “Another Flamethrower, please.” The Kecleon nodded before charging forward, appearing at least somewhat fierce as she shot small flames from her mouth, the fire gradually intensifying to a burning feverish blaze. Her scales began to shift, her Protean ability changing her cellular makeup, red and orange and gold enveloping her body as though she were being engulfed in flames. The transformation to the Fire type now complete, she was able to commence her fiery assault. With a deep breath, Prism launched a blistering Flamethrower at the Rillaboom, setting some of the grass and plants directly in the fiery blasts path alight. The Kecleon was fascinated by the pretty dancing flames, seemingly forgetting about the highly aggressive, giant gorilla towering just above her. Selene sighed. Prism was… interesting to say the least. Flamethrower (90 BP) Protean: Normal —> Fire

Though Perform wasn't one of the ones landing an actual blow on Rillaboom, he nevertheless smirked as the Grass-type threw up a set of shields- a sign that it was weakening, and everyone present knew it.
Not that the big ape was taking any of this laying down, of course. Rillaboom launched into a volley of attacks following the onslaught it had taken itself. First, a High Horsepower into the Raichu- a hard hit, but Terri and Perform took comfort in the fact that that timely Power Swap had indisputably softened that blow. Then came the Boomburst- a hard hit for the three Pokémon it actually hit, but the Normal Form Mr. Mime smugly smirked, arms folded, as the explosion of pure decibel destruction washed over his Soundproof self to no effect whatsoever. He took a deep breath, and exclaimed, "HAH!" in response to the Rillaboom's ineffective attack. "YOU THINK YOU CAN TURN SOUND, OF ALL THINGS, AGAINST ME, THE LOUD MIME?! THUS I REITERATE: HAH!" Said smugness only intensified as Rillaboom's Energy Ball hit the Dusknoir's Voodoo Bugaloo substitute, inflicting the damage back onto the attacker instead. "We should attack now," Terri stated. "Help take down those shields. It will take all our efforts, I think." "INDEED!" agreed Perform. "I AM AFRAID MY NEWFOUND ATTACK BOOSTS AREN'T GOING TO BE OF MUCH USE HERE, BUT HOPEFULLY SOON! NOW, JUST GIVE THE COMMAND!" Terri gave her small, mysterious smile. "Then use Aerial Ace!" she said. "READY FOR TAKEOFF!" bellowed Perform, who had already climbed into some sort of invisible contraption, and was miming the action of putting on a pair of goggles. A few invisible button presses later, and the noisy sound of a propeller starting up clued Terri in to the fact that the invisible contraption her Mr. Mime was starting up was some form of aircraft. And then, after gripping some sort of invisible steering mechanism, Perform was off! With all the noise and steadily increasing altitude associated with taking off in an actual small airplane, the Normal Form Mr. Mime flew right towards the shield, striking it with what sounded like great explosive force. sending him flying out of the invisible explosive wreckage. However, he pulled an invisible ripcord from something he appeared to be wearing on his back, and he drifted gently to the ground, thanks to his invisible parachute, after which he took a deep bow as Terri applauded. Whether anyone else joined in on the applause remained to be seen, but even just one person enjoying Perform's performance was enough for him. OOC: Perform used Aerial Ace (60 BP). |

Santa Custard is coming to town~
Jess had been to the Slumbering Wilds but once before - in order to put down an overgrown pumpkin terrorizing the locale, supersized by some seasonal spell. Her holiday partner this time was far less keen on the setting though, grumbling and grousing loudly as they trekked through the dense jungle towards the source of resounding booms, insistent that the heat and humidity were making his feathers melt.
"You mean 'molt', and no they're not. Come on, let's keep moving." As he made an obvious show of stumbling into vines and tripping over yet another tree root though, the dramatic Delibird finally flopped down on his bum, refusing to budge an inch until he's had some rest. With a sigh, Jess untangled the wire strings like fairy lights, before picking up the petulantly protesting penguin and piggying him onto her back as if he were a sack of potatoes - half-carrying, half-dragging the heavy sack of flubber along. "Seriously, you can walk just fine on your own. Why must you be so difficult?" Custard merely smirked and snuggled up against his trainer's neck in triumphant satisfaction. A part of Jess began to suspect he wasn't just wanting to be supported out of laziness, but simply wished to take full advantage of this opportunity to stay as close to her as possible. It had admittedly been some time since it was just the two of them together, and a wistful part of her thought back with fond nostalgia to when she was just starting out on her journey. The pesky penguin thief who nearly ruined her family's Christmas one year had ultimately become their precious pet - no, protector - and persistently followed her to Fizzytopia, steadfastly loyal to the bitter end. Her team had expanded considerably since then, but he was still her first (and foremost, according to him) friend who always stuck by her through thick and thin (despite any outward complaint to the contrary). As the pair arrived onstage where a goliath gorilla was beating out a cacophonous rhythm on its colossal drumset, Custard seemed to miraculously perk up, wrinkling his beak as he raised his flippers to the sides of his head to drown out the noise (rather resembling an old grandpa's reaction to the youth's modern "rock 'n roll" genre). Jess set him down gently and handed him a pair of fuzzy Swablu earmuffs her little sister had graciously provided, simultaneously donning her own headphones to help mitigate the intense music. With volume successfully muted, the battle was soon underway, and after a couple exchanges of blows the big ape bellowed and brought up a number of shields as a bulwark. At the same time, a familiar flash of magenta caught Jess's eye, coming from her wristband. It had been a while since she'd last tapped into the swirling pool of Dynamax energy, but now seemed the perfect chance. Turning to her companion, he nodded and squawked eagerly in approval. "All right, let's show this naughty monkey who's boss! Time to Dynamax and use MAX AIRSTREAM off of SKY ATTACK (140 BP)!"
