Rotom blu3shift

Elijah Smith
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Hometown: Nacrene City, Unova

Appearance: Elijah is fair-skinned and sees the world with blue-gray eyes. He stands at about 5'6", not too tall but not quite short, not terribly fit but not a portly individual. He wears mostly black and gray clothes, from his sneakers to his usually-unzipped hoodie, however the cyan T-shirt that he usually sports underneath it contrasts glowingly with the rest of his wardrobe. He doesn't prefer to wear any hats, leaving his dark-brown hair free for all to see—he makes it a point to part it to the side whenever he can but inevitably it just becomes a mess by the end of the day. He lugs around a black backpack for safekeeping of all of the items that he picks up that he's told are important.

Personality: Elijah is very much one of the last people that you'd expect to become a trainer, and for good reason; he knows barely anything about Pokémon battles—much less all the different kinds of species that populate the world—and will quickly shy away from them if it means that someone gets hurt. He's not exactly a big fan of catching Pokémon either, letting them go if possible and only really trying to do so if he can tell that they outright want to. He tends to be very risk-averse as well, only really getting into more dangerous situations when his Rotom Phone goads him into doing so. Despite this, there's an inkling of motivation that drives him to keep it up anyway; there's always something new and interesting around the corner and he's more than ready to abandon his old ways of thinking even if it's a veritable mountain to climb to get there.

Bio: Growing up, Elijah had been a devout Team Plasma member, rallying against the atrocities that trainers commit against Pokémon, scoffing at anyone who told him otherwise, and avoiding interfering with the wildlife. As time went on, however, cracks began to form in his moral compass—was Plasma really for liberation if they were destroying others' livelihoods and freezing entire cities just to achieve it? This questioning of his eventually reached the breaking point, deciding just a few months after graduating high school to take the plunge and take on the role of a Pokémon trainer, flying off to Fizzytopia with nothing but the clothes on his back and a desire to reconcile his old beliefs with the world that he seeks to explore.

Ion (he/him; Lv. 18)
Spoiler: show
No. 479 Rotom
Electric/ Ghost { Electric}
Ability:
Levitate

This Pokémon is pretty Jolly by nature.
Met as a starter when it was Lv. 5.

Moves: Thunder Shock, Thunder Wave, Double Team, Confuse Ray, Charge, Trick, Astonish, Discharge, Charge Beam, Uproar, Hex
TMs:
Tutor Moves: Rest
Egg Moves:
Advanced Moves:
Shadow Moves:
Custom Moves:

While Elijah might be reserved, Ion is anything but—in fact, he's the complete opposite, despite his mysterious impediment that prevents him from speaking to and understanding other Pokémon. He approaches everything head-on with zero consideration for whether it might be a bad idea or not. He remains in constant contact with Elijah through his Rotom Phone, for better or for worse. Whatever it might be, his trainer can't help but admit that the spice that he adds to every situation comes in handy sometimes, and lately he's taken up attempting to mentor the burgeoning trainer with the knowledge that the phone's Pokédex has access to.

Zorua (she/her; Lv. 21) ♀️
Spoiler: show
No. 570 Zorua
Dark { Dark}
Ability:
Illusion

This Pokémon is pretty Brave by nature.
Met in Fizzytopian Pinewood National Park when it was Lv. 21.

Moves: Scratch, Leer, Torment, Pursuit, Hone Claws, Fake Tears, Fury Swipes, Scary Face, Feint Attack, Taunt
TMs: Shadow Claw
Tutor Moves:
Egg Moves:
Advanced Moves:
Shadow Moves:
Custom Moves:

Once the heirloom of a family living in the forest with the local Pokémon's blessing, this Zorua has decided to depart with Elijah after his part in ending a succession crisis gone terribly wrong. She's definitely not hesitant to get involved when the going gets tough, attempting to knock anything that's in the way out, but she's got a bit of a playful side too. Just ask Elijah, subject of too many Illusion-based pranks to count. (It's at least one, by the way.)

Castform (he/him; Lv. 24) ♂️
Spoiler: show
No. 351 Castform
Normal { Normal}
Ability:
Forecast

This Pokémon is pretty Docile by nature.
Met in Fizzytopian Pinewood National Park when it was Lv. 24.

Moves: Tackle, Ember, Water Gun, Powder Snow, Headbutt, Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Hail
TMs:
Tutor Moves:
Egg Moves: Disable, Hex
Advanced Moves:
Shadow Moves:
Custom Moves:

This Castform once belonged to a Trainer that Elijah refuses to name for the sake of everyone involved, abandoning him in an attempt to start a new life. His temperament depends on the weather; he's as bright as the sun underneath a clear sky, but he'll act a little bit grumpy in the midst of a storm. That's not to say that he isn't inconsistent though, ready to defend anyone from anything at any time, no matter what. He seems to be a little distant, however, and it doesn't take much to figure out why.

Inventory
Key Items
Spoiler: show
  • Rotom Phone
A smartphone that's custom-built to safely house a Rotom. Ion usually resides in it when he's not in the fray.
  • Powerful Bracelet (Mega Ring)
Elijah's not sure what this is so he keeps it stowed away in his backpack. The stone in the middle seems to emanate a powerful energy.
  • Mysterious Bracelet (Z-Ring)
Elijah's not sure what this is so he keeps it stowed away in his backpack. There seems to be a slot that accepts something in its center.
  • Sporty Wristband (Dynamax Band)
Elijah's not sure what this is so he keeps it stowed away in his backpack. It seems to make him feel taller when he puts it on.
  • Crystalline Orb (Tera Orb)
Elijah's not sure what this is so he keeps it stowed away in his backpack. The crystal inside glistens in a multitude of different colors if he looks at it the right way.
  • Fishing Rod
Elijah doesn't know how to fish, but he's sure that he might need the rod eventually so he hangs onto it just in case. It's rather cheaply made since it's mass-produced for every new trainer, but it can certainly hook an unsuspecting water-type just fine.
  • Berry Bag
An insulated bag that keeps berries fresh. Perfect for those times when you're more than a few miles away from the nearest refrigerator.
  • Pokéblock Case
A special container designed to hold Pokéblocks. Elijah isn't sure what those are, but the container vaguely reminds him of a certain candy that he'd eaten once.

Poké Balls
Spoiler: show
  • Poké Ball x5
A standard Poké Ball without any special enhancements. It's perfect for those starting out, but it struggles to hold less common Pokémon.
  • Timer Ball x1
This Poké Ball seems to be more effective if you've been in battle for a while—which sounds like the last thing that Elijah wants to do but maybe there's a time and place for this one.

Level-Up Items
Spoiler: show
  • Rare Candy x5
A candy that makes a Pokémon stronger when eaten. Despite the name, they're actually very easy to get in Fizzytopia.

TMs
Spoiler: show
  • Return
A move that increases its power with how much the Pokémon likes its trainer.
  • Nasty Plot
A move that... increases the power of non-physical moves through coming up with malicious ideas? Why would anyone ever use this one? Unless they're evil, probably.
  • U-Turn
A move that deals damage and then allows the Pokémon to switch out with someone else immediately afterwards. It's a bug-type move for some reason.
  • Scald
A move that shoots really hot water at its target, potentially causing a burn on contact.

Battle Items
Spoiler: show
  • Grass Gem x1
A mysterious gem that powers up a single Grass-type move before disappearing.
  • Ghost Gem x1
A mysterious gem that powers up a single Ghost-type move before disappearing.
  • Smoke Ball x1
If held by a Pokémon, they can throw it in battle to distract their opponents and instantly flee.
  • Damp Rock x1
Pokémon that hold this causes any of their moves that cause rain to last a bit longer.
  • Heat Rock x1
Pokémon that hold this causes any of their moves that cause harsh sunlight to last a bit longer.
  • Damp Rock x1
Pokémon that hold this causes any of their moves that cause hail to last a bit longer.

Berries
Spoiler: show
  • Cheri Berry x1
A tiny berry that cures cases of mild paralysis—as long as you can handle its spiciness.
  • Chesto Berry x1
A very tough and dry berry that packs enough of a punch to wake anyone up. It's a popular ingredient in energy drinks.
  • Pecha Berry x1
A super sweet and delicious berry that also handily serves as a natural remedy against even the most potent poison.
  • Rawst Berry x1
It tastes terrible, but this berry will cool off any burns if eaten.
  • Aspear Berry x1
A sour berry that seems to warm you up, even in the dead of winter. It's the perfect cure for frostbite.
  • Sitrus Berry x2
A berry that rapidly heals you just a little bit more than a stock Potion would.
  • Nomel Berry x1
Elijah isn't really sure what this one is good for. It's super sour and doesn't seem to have any effect like the others do outside of putting his taste buds out of commission for a bit.

Ingredients
Spoiler: show
  • King's Leaf x1
An herb that makes medicines stronger if combined with them.
  • Medicinal Leek x3
Apparently this vegetable was used to create the first Potions several hundred years ago.
  • Vivichoke x1
An ingredient that's purported to get you back up and running when combined with something else—even if you've been knocked out.
  • Apricorn x3
The first Poké Balls were made from these, and are still valued by artisans looking to build them from scratch.
  • Iron Chunk x3
It's just raw metal. Maybe it could be used for something...

Other Items
Spoiler: show
  • Escape Rope x2
A bit of rope that's guaranteed to bail you out of a tough situation.
  • Cleanse Tag x1
Repels wild Pokémon if it's held by another Pokémon.
  • Gold Leaf x1
It's a gold-colored leaf. It might be worth something.
  • Balm Mushroom x1
A super rare mushroom that fetches a fair bit of money when sold.

Trivia & Extra Info
(Extra flavor text and lore that didn't make it into my character bios.)
Elijah
Spoiler: show
  • Elijah says that he doesn't know anything about Pokémon training, but that's only to keep things simple. He at least knows about what battling entails and most species that are native to Unova—he's just never been in a situation where he needs or wants to apply that knowledge.
  • Ion likes to sometimes introduce Elijah as "most likely to need a hug." He usually gets frustrated at Ion for being insensitive, but deep down he kind of feels that way too; carrying around all that emotional baggage without anyone that he trusts to help him hasn't been a fun experience in the slightest.
  • Don't ask Elijah to throw anything; he has a terrible aim and will more often than not miss the target completely.
  • Truth or ideals? Elijah says no, he'd be surprised if he was ever regarded as a hero of anything.
  • Elijah is probably autistic, but he hasn't considered it, much less knows what autism is.
  • Elijah isn't all doom and gloom inside like his behavior might lead you to believe. He's wildly curious and will often be drawn to the exotic and unfamiliar—he'll just observe from a distance since he's just as worried about his own safety and well-being.

Ion
Spoiler: show
  • Ion isn't exactly the most understanding Pokémon, although he's trying to make an effort to improve.
  • Ion can't speak or understand anyone except for humans. His phone helps bridge the communication gap somewhat by way of its voice synthesizer, but he still can't translate for any Pokémon.
  • Compared to the average Rotom, Ion is somewhat weak; however, he's stronger than the average Rotom that usually resides in a Rotom Dex or Rotom Phone. He refuses to even talk about it if it's ever brought up.
