Furret The Pearl Islet: Mint Earhart's Base

The Pearl Islet

Mint Earhart's Secret Base

Far out in the seas of Fizzytopia, a pristine, lush island lies hidden among the waves. It is rather small, with steep, rocky plateaus overrun by grasses, vines, and yet more exotic flora covering a fair amount of the land, and palms shading almost all of the shores. Despite the unlikelihood of anyone ever finding and settling this place, the house that spans the many rocky ledges of the islet serves as a testament to never underestimate a girl who wants a peaceful, quiet place to return to when the day is done. Indeed, wooden stairs lead visitors up to the front porch and door of a beautifully constructed villa, the Secret Base and home of one Mint Earhart.

The Beach:

Pristine, soft, white sand beaches encircle the entirety of the Islet, decorated with varying types of beautiful seashells or the occasional washed up bits of Corsola that are left by the changing tides. One spot on the beach in particular is home to a massive wooden pier, at the end of which is docked a small motorboat, the back of which identifies the craft simply as The Pearl. It's a relatively new watercraft, the painted images of Mantyke and more along its sides still fresh and untarnished, and the vessel Mint uses to travel between her Base and the Fizzytopia mainland on the regular. There are several more spots along the pier, though the side opposite The Pearl's usual post is generally reserved for larger ships. The water, while just as salty as you'd expect, is relatively calm and crystal clear this close to shore. So long as one does not venture too far, it's generally safe for people or any manner of aquatic Pokemon to swim here, though Trainer supervision is recommended, just in case. Further inland from the pier, one will find the base of a large set of wooden stairs, with a shower of sorts to wash the sand out of one's hair and toes at the first landing. Mint would greatly appreciate it if you used these before coming back inside from laying on the beach.

The Villa-Exterior:

Once one has climbed the many stairs from the islet's shore, they will find themselves at the front deck of Mint's villa. The deck goes around the entirety of the house, able to offer a spectacular view from any side of the house, as well as a place to sit and enjoy the sea breeze, weather permitting, but it is still most spacious out front. Wooden swing chairs, patio chairs, and recliners alike all surround several small wooden tables on which to place snacks or drinks. All sides of the patio sit under an overhang such that at least one area is shaded from the sun at all times, as well as to offer some shelter from the rain before coming inside. Sliding glass doors exist on both sides as well as around back, but the front doors remain wooden, with ornate stained-glass windows inset in them depicting two Luvdisc facing one another. A doorbell in the shape of a Chimecho's head is at the right side of the doorframe, and will bring Mint quickly to the door when rung, provided she's home. For the sake of any potentially sleeping Pokemon inside: one press of the button is plenty.

Entryway/Lounge Area:

Once one enters the Villa, a wide open space greets them. Take your shoes off at the door, instructs a sign on the nearby wall, in hopes of keeping the polished hardwood flooring spotless. The lounge area is an open concept space directly underneath a large skylight. Cabana-style sofas with plush white cushions and throw pillows, three in all, surround a large table whose center is clear glass. Coasters lay scattered about the surface, and dishes are laid out, usually filled with snacks for (expected) company. The one side not home to a couch sees a large television mounted on the wall above a large fireplace, with a Nintendo Switch hooked into it with a small library of games. Other tables and chairs dot the area as overflow seating for large gatherings (and to hold the extra hors d'oeuvres required of such functions). Around the center of the room, a spiral staircase leads to the second floor.

The Kitchen:

The kitchen makes up the west "wing" of the house, and has a sliding glass door leading to the deck at its far end. A fridge/freezer, oven, stove, dishwasher and all are scattered about, with a large counter along two sides of the room, with an island in the middle, all furnished with a pristine granite countertop. The pantry is off to the right, stocked with ingredients and whatever kitchenware wont fit in the many cabinets or the lazy Susan in the corner of the countertop. A small table with four chairs sits beyond the equipment and close to the sliding door-meals are usually ad here when Mint is alone or with just a few guests.

The Battle Room:

Making up the east wing of the house, the Battle Room is home to a high ceiling, but little else. Instead, a wide open space is home to a simple clay battle arena. However, to keep the house intact, especially the sliding glass door, battles should stay low-intensity. Pastinha can often be found training here.

The Pool Room:

The north wing of the villa is home to a large indoor pool, in which Mint's aquatic Pokemon can be found playing more often than not. A black, full-body wetsuit hangs on the wall, which Mint greatly prefers to more ordinary swimwear, just next to the expected sliding glass door. The pool itself can comfortably hold aquatic Pokemon up to about the size of a Milotic, larger Pokemon should consider swimming in the ocean instead. Unlike the lounge area, the pool deck is concrete. Changing rooms for guys and gals are off to the left of the room.

Second Floor-Bedroom/Crow's Nest:

The top of the spiral staircase in the lounge brings one to a small landing, and an arched wooden door. Through it lies Mint's bedroom, which doubles as a crow's nest of sorts for the Villa. Except for where the door is, large windows encompass the entire room, beneath which are short bookcases loaded with plenty of books for both informational and light pleasure reading. A large four-poster bed with turquoise fittings and pillows stands at the center, with a nightstand beside it that is home to a single lamp, whose top also doubles as a perch for Celeste. The floor here is a pleasantly soft turquoise carpet, and a few beanbags lay about the room, amidst a gigantic collection of plushies.

Rules:

-When coming in after others, specify whether you wish to join the others or start your own storyline. For convenience, make sure other people are chill with you joining in, though this doesn't apply for large events open to the general public.

-Be reasonable about what Pokemon you have out while inside. A Steelix is probably not going to fit, not even in the Battle Room. Also, it may be a good idea to keep heavier Pokemon off the deck.

-If you're going to come over, you should have a means of coming over figured out. If you don't have a Pokemon or a boat to come over on, be creative! See if you can write up having temporary access to one-maybe you've borrowed a Ride Pager?

-Please don't break anything! Keep battles to the Battle Room.

-Enjoy yourself!

The deck is just fine at present! Come on in!

The sea of Fizzytopia. At times, calm and serene. At other times, as calm and serene as a caffeinated Vigoroth. And fortunately for Keith Masters, today it was the former and not the latter.

Why was this fortunate for him? Well, when one travels by sea, one generally prefers said sea to be calm. And indeed, right now, Keith was aboard his trusty ship, the Banette's Revenge, standing at the helm, Meowth on his shoulder as usual.

"Alright, I'll admit it, youse picked a good day fer dis," Meowth conceded with a small grin. "Though I still kinda wish we knew where we's actually goin'," he added.

"Oh, relax, Meowth," Keith grinned back. "When have we ever gotten really lost?"

"How about dat time in da storm when we stumbled onta Birth Island?"

"Oh, that wasn't that bad," Keith said dismissively.

"Yer kiddin'," Meowth said flatly. "We had ta fend off an enraged Slaking while a freaking tornado destroyed da base, and no tanks to dat stupid Chatot ya used ta have, dat Lucas guy thought we was intruders! WE WAS IN A WAILORD!"

"Yes, but the Wailord didn't eat us, now did it?" said Keith. "It was either that or risk the storm sinking the Revenge. Besides, it was just the one time."

"Dere was also da pirates," Meowth pointed out.

"Now that's not fair- we were not lost that time," Keith argued. "They were just right in our way."

Meowth opened his mouth, possibly to offer another example of something bad that happened to them at sea, but if that was indeed his intention, we may never know, for at that moment, Hermione's voice could be heard from the deck below; "Land ho!"

"...Hermione sees land," Meowth translated, turning to look ahead. "...And so do I, fer dat matter," he added.

"Indeed," Keith agreed, also looking and seeing what Meowth was talking about. A small island, adorned with steep rock formations... and what appeared to be a house? "Huh. It's small, but might be inhabited," he murmured.

"Ya tink?" Meowth said dryly, pointing at a large wooden pier. A small motorboat was docked there, but the opposite side looked quite sufficient for a vessel like the Banette's Revenge.

"Well, then, we're going ashore," Keith stated, adjusting his ship's course. "Meowth, get the others ready."

"Aye aye, captain," Meowth rolled his eyes, jumping down off Keith's shoulder and running down to the deck.

~~~
And soon, it was done. The Banette's Revenge was safely docked, and Keith was currently tying her to the pier. Keith had withdrawn all his team except for Meowth, who was now back on his shoulder. And once the ship was secured, Keith started off. It wasn't long before they found the wooden stairs, and once at the top, Keith was beholding the front porch and front door to the rather impressive dwelling. Moved by sheer curiosity, Keith knocked on the door.
Mint was busy.
Piles of books adorned the kitchen table, all on the subject of various ancient Sinnovan texts, with others opened on the table itself. The Trainer herself was furiously scribbling notes in a spiral notebook, still in sweats and with her hair let down. Balancing a Trainer career with coursework like this was tiring, but worth it. Still, the research for this paper was something else.
That being said, it was for this reason that Mint didn't notice the Banette's Revenge as it docked by her "humble" abode, so the knock at the door came as a shock that caused Mint to jump, and thus the white Skitty to jump from her lap as well. As Mint settled down from the initial shock, however, she noticed she still had a few pages of some of these texts to go through before reaching a good stopping point.
"Pastinha!" Mint called to the Hitmontop, who was undoubtedly across the house in the Training Room. "Be a dear and get the door for me, please! I've just got a little more to work through!" she added.
"Top, top!" Pastinha replied, eagerly going to the front door and opening it (though he had to make a small jump to reach the handle). Sprocket chose this moment to float over to the door as well, and the Rotom Dex more readily recognized the guest at the door.
"Hey, it'zzzz you! We met at the Bar a while back! Mint'zzzz a bit buzzzzy at the moment, but-"
Seemingly having overheard the conversation, Mint was now fully aware that legitimate company was at the door as opposed to anything else, and quickly joined the entourage at the front door, followed by Snowy, the selfsame Skitty.
"Buuuuut I can put a little coursework aside for a friend! Come in, come, come!" she said. Pastinha, deciding he'd done what was asked, returned to the Training Room. "Mi casa es su casa, please, make yourself comfortable."
The door swung open, and Keith blinked in surprise at the two figures he saw before him. One of them was a Hitmontop, a species of Pokémon Keith was quite unfamiliar with. The other, however, was a Rotom. A Rotom Dex. A Rotom Dex that knew Keith. And Keith knew of only one Rotom Dex in existence, and that was the one belonging to...
"Mint! Hi," Keith smiled in response to the greeting. "Good to see you again." At Mint's request, he stepped inside. "Didn't know you lived here," he remarked. "Just stumbled upon this island, and curiosity took over from there." Then, he noticed the white feline at Mint's feet. "Oh, cool Skitty," he added. "Never seen one that color- is it Shiny?"
