Chroma had no idea what the smeargle was doing to move the piece of bamboo shoot towards her, but it was certainly clear that she was going to try it for herself. A tense couple seconds passed as it floated across the room and into the Chromium's mouth... which in turn spread into a smile. She sighed in relief. "Guess I've got a seal of approval now, huh? I'll make you a plate as well, then!"

She picked up a couple plates when she was done serving them. "Can you guys help me bring them down, then? Please the take the stairs, I'm not sure if the cocoons are particularly good at keeping food from spilling and I don't feel like finding out today."

'That'd be impressive,'
Butternut admitted. 'I'm just not a fan of riskin' havin' my own pumpkins thrown back at me...'

A human girl suddenly stumbled out of one of the silken domes, but was quick to regain her balance. "Oof, I still don't have that exit down..." She turned her attention to the pokemon assembled before her. "Hello, and welcome! I have good news for everyone: food's on its way down as we speak!'

Keith chuckled as his Smeargle nodded emphatically at the notion of having a plate of her own as well, and nodded once more as Chroma asked for help bringing the plates down. "No problem," Keith replied. "Chromium, you help too," he added to the Smeargle. "And not just your own plate, either," he added sternly. "You can use Vine Whip to carry more than one."

"Smeeear," sighed Chromium, though she obliged nonetheless, grabbing a few plates with her front paws and her vines. Keith also picked up a few plates. Anion was small enough to fit onto a plate herself, so she couldn't exactly be of much help, but Chuck more than picked up the slack by lifting the rest of the plates with Psychic.

"I'd imagine, yeah," Dennis nodded. "Some of my teammates got this move called Gummi Bomb, basically a time bomb that can stick to the opponent. Only thing is, the opponent can get rid of it by making it stick to the Pokémon what used it in the first place, so it's also the kind of move that can backfire. That Weedle I mentioned, she knows the move, and she can use it pretty well- she likes to follow it up with moves like String Shot and Electroweb to make it harder for the opponent to remove it."

At that moment, a girl stumbled out of one of those strange silk domes, needing but a moment to regain balance, before greeting the Pokémon. "Chaaaaboka," Nagini greeted her in return with a polite bow, as much of a bow as one could expect to see from an Arbok. The news that food was on its way was very well-received by the pair of Poison-types.

"All right, food," grinned Dennis. "Keith was actually planning to take us to Pansear Pizza Parlor for dinner, but I'm guessing he decided to use this opportunity for Chromium to practice Teleport after all."

The young lady couldn't help but be impressed with how easily Keith got his pokemon to help out- not that she was going to complain, of course. "Thank you for the help. Follow me," Chroma led the way, since two fo them hadn't come this way yet.

'String Shot?'
Butternut asked. 'That won' work so well with this one, I think.' He listened to what Ami's announcement and nodded, declaring that he would get "those that I can find."

Amicae bowed back to the snake, relieved that she seemed to be well mannered. "I don't exactly Know your names, but is nice to meet you!"

Keith nodded, following Chroma. Chromium and Chuck followed, while Anion and Meowth simply rode on Keith's shoulders.

"Chaaaboka," Nagini nodded in response.

"Venusaaaur," Dennis nodded, likewise in agreement. Then, they heard the sound of footsteps, clearly meaning the others were coming.

Chroma stepped aside to let the others pass once she stepped off the last stair. "So this is where you were hiding!" she teased the younger girl.

"I haven't exactly been down here for the past hour, you know," Ami retorted coolly. Her face took on a more confused appearance when Keith came into view as she tried to figure out why he seemed familiar. "Wait, were you at the Casi-"

An excited squeal interrupted her as an inkay seemingly materialized out of nowhere and shot towards him, finally ending his flight with a soft plop onto his hat. 'Rehtaf, rehtaf~!'

As they reached the bottom of the stairs, they came across a younger girl- judging by her voice, the same one Chroma had spoken with earlier, her adopted little sister. Moreover, she seemed to recognize Keith- and from the Casino, of all things. Before she could complete the question, however, Keith heard an excited squeal, and saw its source flying his way. Keith could only chuckle as the excitable Inkay landed on his head. "Hey, I remember this Inkay!" Keith grinned. "Oh, man... Y'know, Chroma, were it not for the PC storage restrictions back then, I actually probably would've kept this little guy."

"Trust me, he ain't lyin'," Meowth added. "Even considerin' his first experience wit Inkay was beyond creepy."

"Yeah, well, not all Inkay are alike, Meowth," Keith stated. "Just like not all Stunfisk are alike. So, Chroma, how's this guy been doing?" he asked.

"Elen's been doing pretty dang well, actually," Chroma proudly reported as she placed one of the plates on the ground. "He might not have mastered the hypnotic powers his species is known for, but his other abilities have been very good at making up for it- I've found that he can completely change his passive traits mid-battle, to give you the big example."

"Wait, since when was he able to do that?" Ami asked in genuine surprise.

The older girl shrugged. "I dunno, when did you get that creepy spider?"

"Hey, don't call Bell creepy!"

Chroma cleared her throat with a cough. "Anyway, it seems like you two have seen each other without actually meeting each other, so introductions are still in order. Ami, this is Keith Masters, a high-class trainer and self-proclaimed Poison specialist. Keith, this is Amicae Schmeltzer, my one and only sister."

"Cool," Keith grinned as Chroma proudly reported on how well Elenchos was doing. "Definitely sounds like he ended up with the right Trainer, then." At that point, after a little back-and-forth between the two sisters, Chroma introduced Keith and Amicae to each other. "Nice to meet you, Amicae," Keith said. "This here is Meowth," he added, gesturing to the Normal-type on one shoulder.

"Hey dere," Meowth greeted Amicae.

"And this is Anion, my Minun," he added.

"Mai maaiii!" Anion cheered.

"My Smeargle, Chromium; my Gengar, Chuck; my Venusaur, Dennis; and my Arbok, Nagini. And- whoa, is that a Pumpkasaur?" Keith asked, finally noticing the unique Bulbasaur subspecies near Dennis and Nagini. "Oh, wow," he smiled, taking out his Pokédex- a classic Kanto model, albeit colored Koffing purple, with a pale yellow skull and crossbones symbol on the cover.

"Pumpkasaur, the Pumpkin Seed Pokémon. A Grass and Poison-type," said Keith's Pokédex. "Pumpkasaur is a close relative of the Bulbasaur species that is extremely rare and hard to find. Unlike Bulbasaur, however, Pumpkasaur possesses no evolutionary relatives. Its special attack is the Pumpkin Bomb."

"That is so cool," Keith smiled. "I tried to win one of those last Halloween, but no luck."

"It's nice to meet you, too!" Ami said once all of the pokemon introductions. "Nagini's a nice sounding name," she declared, with a brief nod in the arbok's direction.

Chroma let out a mildly uncomfortable chuckle- as much as she was glad to have Butternut, the moment she won him wasn't exactly her finest moment. "Yeah, you were in the crowd then, if I remember correctly. It was all a blur of emotion for me, admittedly..."

Butternut's ears flattened back in embarassment. 'Dah box's short an' to the point sometimes, huh...' he muttered, not happy that the pokedex openly called out a few of his insecurities. 'Anyways, I sent a call out to dah others, so they should be gettin' here soon.'

Sure enough, a staryu
and a dewpider soon became visible around the corner, both still dripping a bit from their time in the water.

"Chaa, chaaaboka," Nagini replied with a smile at Amicae's words, nodding back to her.

"Nagini's sayin' da same ting about yer own name," Meowth translated for Amicae.

"You can pet Nagini if you want, you know," Keith added. "I think she'd like that." The Arbok gave another nod, confirming Keith's words as truth.

Keith then listened as Chroma recounted the moment when she'd won her Pumpkasaur. "Yeah, I'll bet it was emotional," Keith nodded. "I was pretty disappointed that I didn't win. I'd really love to catch a Pumpkasaur of my own someday," he smiled. "They look awesome, and I'm willing to bet I could think up a great strategy revolving around that Pumpkin Bomb attack they know. Plus, Dennis and Pomona would very likely get along with a Pumpkasaur- Pomona's my Ivysaur, by the way," he added. "Didn't bring her with me today, but you ought to meet her sometime. She actually refuses to evolve into Venusaur, and I can't really complain- she's pretty awesome just the way she is."

"Hey, don't sweat it," Dennis said to Butternut, who seemed a bit embarrassed by the Pokédex so bluntly pointing out his lack of evolutionary relatives. "You know what else doesn't evolve? Qwilfish. And you know what one of Keith's strongest Pokémon is? A Qwilfish." He nodded as Butternut mentioned having called for the others, and looked out for them.

And sure enough, there came a pair of Water-types. Keith recognized one as a Dewpider, having very briefly seen some back when he first entered Goldenridge City, though the other one was a slightly less familiar sight. He'd seen Staryu before, sure, just not for years. In fact, the last time he saw a Staryu was back in Lavaridge- someone had a Staryu with him en route to the Lavaridge Gym. Keith saw a great many Water-types accompanying the Trainers intent on challenging the Lavaridge Gym Leader. Keith took out his Pokédex and pointed it at the pure Water-type.

"Staryu, the Star Shape Pokémon. A Water-type," said the device. "As long as its core is unharmed, Staryu can effortlessly regenerate any lost body parts, even if it is chopped to bits. The core glows with red light when night falls. Staryu is the pre-evolved form of Starmie."

"Cool," Keith remarked. "I actually have a Starmie of my own, though I caught her as a Starmie- haven't seen a Staryu since before I became a Trainer," he explained. By this point, Keith and his Pokémon had set down all the plates they carried with them.

The whole talking meowth thing was still a little off putting for Ami, but his role as the Team Translator quickly proved itself. "Thank you, Nagini!" The invitation to pet the giant snake was a bit of a surprise, but she wasn't going to leave that hanging. She tentatively ran her hand across Nagini's head. "Woah, you're actually kinda smooth!" She started to pet the snake more vigorously, careful not to rub against the grain of her scales.

"An ivysaur, huh?" Chroma asked. "I suppose tht if you're looking to maintain appearances, that would be the best place to stop. No offence to Dennis, but venusaur are a bit lacking in the looks department... It does make me wonder what they would look like if pumpkasaur could evolve, though." She took a contemplative bite as Keith fanboyed over her new staryu. "Um, quick question: did your starmie identify as female when you found her, or did you guys decide to refer to her as such?"

'I guess that's confortin', but...' Butternut looked genuinely confused. '...I don' know what a qwilfish even is!'

'Oh, it seems we have newcomers in our jubilation!' the staryu proclaimed to everyone in the room via telepathy. 'What an unexpected honour- not even the stars themselves have told me of your coming!' Chroma shrank back a little bit, somewhat embarrassed by the star's outburst.

Bell took the opportunity to sneak over to a plate and attempt to wrap the stir fry into small silken packages somewhat discreetly.

Nagini smiled, giving a contented sigh as Ami started petting her. "Chaaaaa~" Nagini hissed, making it quite clear that Ami was doing just fine.

"Pomona feels the same way, yeah," Keith nodded. "She's probably the cutest Ivysaur in the world, and she actually likes to use her cute looks as part of her battle strategy, she's got moves like Charm, Captivate, and Attract to work with. Besides, she also likes playing games like tag, and just running around and playing with her friends, and she feels being a Venusaur would make such a thing much harder for her." Chroma then asked whether Keith's Starmie identified as female or whether he just simply started referring to her with female pronouns. A legitimate question, considering that from a biological standpoint, nobody knew how to discern a Starmie's gender. "She's identified as female since I first met her," Keith replied. "Same deal with my Ditto- he identifies as male, always has. Not all genderless Pokémon do that, though," he added. "I once had a Klink and a Voltorb, neither of whom identified as any gender in particular," he said, recalling the days when Cadmium and Nitro were a part of his team. And then, at that moment, the Staryu spoke up telepathically. By no means did this surprise Keith, considering his Starmie favored such a means of communication herself. He gave a small chuckle at the Water-type's enthusiasm at the prospect of company. "Nice to meet you," he said to the Staryu.

"Oh, well, a Qwilfish is this Water and Poison-type," Dennis attempted to explain. "It's got this round body, there's pointy spikes all over it- I mean, you could hug one, you'd just have to be careful about it- and there's this wide, flat tail sticking out the back. Hard to say without comparing side by side, but I'm pretty sure they're actually a bit smaller than you," he stated. "But yeah, Keith's got this Qwilfish named Hebenon, easily one of his strongest Pokémon. Even took down a Dragonite once, I hear."

Chromium, while eating her food, looked on at the Dewpider, observing as he began wrapping some of his stir fry into small packages by spewing silk at them.

Ami listened to the other humans talk as she petted Nagini a bit more, before stepping aside and sitting down. "Sorry, I'm actually kind of hungry." And with that, she started to chow down on her stir fry.

"Sounds like I was mostly on my money, then," Chroma noted as Keith explained his ivysaur's choices, up to and including emotional manipulation. She was likely a dangerous foe, indeed. "Yeah, Miapladicus here doesn't identify either way, itself. If anything, it probably thinks it's an eternal firework or something."

The staryu in question rolled in on the conversation, well aware that it was talked about. 'Eternal firework? Sorry, but I'm gonna squash that rumor before it takes off!' And with that, it rolled away again to let the humans contemplate the subject longer if they so wished.

Elen flipped off of Keith's head and landed by an unclaimed plate, wrapped a tentacle around the fork (since his suckers couldn't quite grasp it), and started to eat in a position that probably would be uncomfortable to be in if he had a skeleton. As thing were, however, he was actually chirping quite happily between bites.

'Huh, dat's an odd one,' the pumpkasaur responded, trying to get some sort of picture in his mind. 'Sounds like they'd have trouble swimmin', if ya ask me. Takin' down a full-grown Dragon, though? Now dat's impressive!'

Bell took on a more sheepish appearance once he realized that he was being watched. He knew that he was being weird among so many strangers, but he didn't exactly have much choice in the matter- breathing was an important life function as well, after all. Even with the added nervousness, it wasn't long before the his plate's contents were no longer recognizable as stir fry.

Nagini was a bit sad when the petting stopped, but she nodded understandingly. "Chaaa," she hissed in response. Indeed, she slithered over to a plate of her own and began eating.

"Well, there's obviously merits to evolving all the way as well," Keith replied, with a nod to Dennis. "But yeah- not evolving doesn't mean the Pokémon's any less capable. In fact, my Weedle's been devoting her life to proving that very point. Even before the new Elite Four relaxed the rules on TM usage, I was able to teach her a wide variety of attacks, but I had to get creative with how I did it. And it's not just her and my Ivysaur, either- my Timburr refuses to evolve, as does my Pawniard, Meowth here, and my Kakuna- he's actually my Weedle's son. Oh- and my Eevee," he added. "Apparently Eon doesn't want to evolve. She doesn't want to become an Eeveelution- she wants to be better than any of the Eeveelutions. And you know something," he added, glancing at the Z-Ring he wore on his left wrist. "...I wouldn't be all that surprised if this thing somehow ended up helping her out with that." Chuck said nothing, simply smiling knowingly as Keith speculated. He had a feeling Keith would soon find out.

"Yeah, Hebenon told me he had his fair share of trouble swimming when he was younger, but he's gotten in a lot of practice over the years. He's even pretty good at getting around on land," said Dennis. "And yeah- heh, back when Hannah was on the team, she'd go around telling the story to anyone who'd listen, and several of us who wouldn't," he chuckled.

Chromium watched, slightly interested and a little confused as Bell did his thing. Evidently, it was how he ate, for the contents of his plate slowly but surely ceased to resemble the stir fry it once was. Moved by curiosity, the Smeargle grabbed her own plate with her vines, and sat herself next to the Dewpider. "So, what, that's how you eat?" she asked. "Never seen eating like that before. Name's Chromium, by the way, who are you?"

"And I am Anion!" declared the Minun, who was dragging her own plate nearby, her tone of voice suggesting she was announcing the arrival of someone of great importance. The Smeargle rolled her eyes at the Minun's presence, though if she had anything to say on the matter, she held back.

"That's quite a lot of refusal you've got there." The older girl was clearly quite surprised by haw many there were- just how many pokemon did this guy have, anyway? "The closest I get is a mawile that refuses to go anywhere near a mega stone!" Keith brought her attention to the bangle on his wrist, which looked very similar to the one her sister had started wearing. "Oh, Ami has one of those! Well, the crystal on hers is green rather than purple, but the general design's the same."

'A spikeball movin' about on land. Imagine that.' Butternut's voice had a tone of impressedness and disbelief in equal measure. 'Sounds like he 'ad quite a fan.'

Bell shook his head. 'It's more like additional preparation. Food tends to muddy up my water bubble without it, and I kinda like breathing...' He picked up a bundle and slipped it into the bubble in question. 'See, now it's waterproof!' He nibbled on the makeshift dumpling as the two visitors introduced themselves in two very different manners. 'I'm Bell. Nice to meet you!'

"Yeah, well, they each got their reasons," Keith shrugged. "My Timburr doesn't want to replace her wooden beam with a steel girder or a pair of concrete pillars, because the ghost inhabiting her wooden beam would feel most at home in there, considering she was a Leavanny when she was alive. And my Pawniard, she greatly prefers her enemies to underestimate her, and she believes Pawniard are more maneuverable than Bisharp."

"And as fer me-owth, dat Nurse Joy we saw afta I got dis gift o' gab I got says dat if I evolve, I lose da power o' human speech, and I ain't givin' dat up," said Meowth firmly.

At Chroma's words, Keith turned to Ami. "Oh, you have a Z-Ring too?" he said. "That's pretty cool. Yeah, you probably got a different Z-Crystal with yours," he nodded. He turned his wrist to give Ami a better view of the Poisonium Z set into his Z-Ring. "I'm guessing you got yours on Springtide Isle, too?" he asked.

"Yeah, for sure," Dennis nodded. "Of course, Hannah is his little sister, so that's about what you'd expect."

Chromium listened silently to Bell's explanation- he had to do this to keep the food from making his water bubble all muddy, considering he needed said bubble to breathe. "Huh," the Smeargle responded. She glanced at the Dewpider's water bubble, seeing just how devoid of dirt and mud it was. "Well, nice to meet you, too," she said.

"Nice to meet ya, Bell!" smiled Anion. "So it tastes alright like that, all wrapped up in silk like that?" she asked. "I couldn't imagine havin' to do that, myself, especially since I don't know String Shot or anything like that." She paused to cheerfully consume some of her own stir fry. "Mmm," she murmured appreciatively. "Good eating! I was in the mood for pizza, I ain't gonna lie, but I got no complaints about this stuff."

Chroma listened as the visitor went through all of his reasons for not evolving further- or at all. She did raise a curious eyebrow at the mention of Millicent and Willow, but Keith was already on the next pokemon before she could even think about speaking up. "Yeah, bisharp do get a bit of that classic Steel-Type clunkiness, but... I didn't think was enough for them to mind. It's not as drastic as the change from turtwig to grotle, anyway..." Meowth's quip was perhaps one of the most logical of the bunch. "Human speech is an important power to have for a team translator, indeed!"

Ami looked up as Keith called herself out and held out her pale bracelet for them to see. "Yeah, probably. Mine's a Buginium!" She nodded when asked about the Springtide Isle. "Yeah, I did. I also got my little baby over there-" she gestured over to Bell as she said it- "so I'm pretty happy with how that trip turned out!"

'Oh.' The pumpkasaur wasn't sure what he was expecting this Hannah to be, but kin to the qwilfish was not it. 'Hmm... I'm not quite sure where I stan' inmy brood, actually... I guess I should be 'appy that I even have one, though.'

'I wouldn't know if the silk affects the taste, actually,' Bell admitted, looking over one of his creations curiously. 'I've kind of done this with most, if not all, of what I've eaten, so... yeah. I mean, I'd have no problem trying for myself if I got the chance to breathe the same air as you guys, even temporarily, but for now the best I'm gonna get is to have someone else try one and take their word for it...'

"I suppose most Bisharp wouldn't mind," Keith shrugged. "But Ginny, not being evolved, opponents would tend to underestimate her more than they would a Bisharp, and if that is indeed the case, that's something she loves to capitalize on. That's just how she is." Then, Ami explained that her Z-Crystal was the Buginium Z, and also that the Dewpider was hers. "Ohh, cool," Keith nodded. "I didn't bring with me the Pokémon I got from Springtide Isle, or else I'd show you. But hey- are you able to use the Bug-type Z-Move?" he asked curiously.

"Yeah, it's not uncommon for Pokémon raised by Trainers their whole lives to know much of anything about their family," Dennis shrugged. "My Trainer's Pokédex has this feature where it can scan two different Pokémon and determine if they're related to each other. That's how he found out Hebenon and Hannah were brother and sister in the first place. I'm not sure how accurate it is, though... Pomona's older than me, but the Pokédex insists I'm her great-great-great uncle or something. Dunno how that could work, though, unless she's from the future or something like that, y'know?"

"Good point," responded Anion. "Hey- you know what? I'll try it. Can you wrap up a piece of my food in silk? I'll try it, tell you if there's a difference, yeah? Oh, don't roll your eyes at me!" she added, for Chromium had just done exactly that. "We won't know how good of an idea it is until I give it a try!"

"Fine," sighed Chromium. "But when you inevitably barf it back up, kindly don't barf it on me."

"Aw, I was hoping to meet another child of the Springtime Pyukumuku!" Ami's disappointment was pretty short-lived. "I understand part of why you didn't bring them, though." Keith's questioning about her abilities with the Z-Ring was likewise understandable, but still kinda stung. "Of course! Bell- that's my dewpider, by the way- isn't the only one of my pokemon who can use Savage Spin-out, either. My woobat's capable of unleashing it despite not being to produce silk normally!"

'Yer, right, dat is weird.' Butternut shook his head. 'Yer trainer does get aroun' a lot, right? Seen a lot o' what this world's hidin'? If dat's da case, she might just be!'

'I, uhm, wha?' Bell certainly hadn't expected the minun jump into the topic headfirst. 'Um, alright. I hope I don't ruin it for you, at least.' He quickly wrapped a small portion of her food and carefully separated it from the rest. 'There you go!' He stepped back, waiting to see Anion's reaction.

"Well, I mean, if I could access a PC, I'd be happy to bring Aster here so you could get to meet her," Keith offered. He nodded as Ami explained that it wasn't just Bell that could use Savage Spin-Out (apparently what the Bug-type Z-Move was called), but also her Woobat. "I believe it," Keith nodded. "I'm guessing your Woobat knows Signal Beam or something? Any attacking move that matches the type is enough for a Pokémon to be able to use a Z-Move, from what I've been able to learn. Since a good chunk of my Pokémon are Poison-types, naturally they all can use Acid Downpour," he added with a proud grin. "But it's not just them, not by a long shot. I teach Poison moves to as many of my Pokémon as possible. My Mightyena, both of my Banette, Meowth here, one of my Dusknoir, even Anion over there, they all got Poison-type moves that can become Acid Downpour. In fact, teaching Gunk Shot to my Umbreon is pretty high up on my to-do list, too- she's wanted some good Poison moves for a while. I swear, if there was a Poison-type Eeveelution, she'd have wanted to become that instead- she's a Poison-type at heart."

"Oh, you bet," Dennis nodded. "Keith's been all over this region, and he's got a lot done. Dunno if he ever done any time traveling, though he seemed just as surprised by it as I was... I dunno, the world's got a lot of weird stuff what can happen," shrugged the Venusaur. "Maybe she really is from the future, though if that's the case, had to have been when she was still in the Egg, because she's just as stumped as we are."

Anion thoroughly surprised Bell with the enthusiasm with which she dove into the subject at hand. The Minun smiled, grabbed the small selection of silk-surrounded stir fry, and popped it into her mouth. "Mmmph," she murmured as she chewed. "Different texture, that's for damn sure," she remarked thoughtfully as she swallowed it. "Kinda... sorta tastes the same? The silk doesn't really taste like much of anything, at least not to me... Yo, Chromium, why don't you try it, tell me what you think?" she asked the Smeargle.

"Pass," Chromium replied almost immediately. "If I want to chew on sticky strings, I'll talk to Cotton about it, at least that'll actually taste sweet." For some reason, a bit of red could be seen on her face at this, and she looked away in response to the sly smirk Anion was giving her.

"Oh, we do have one!" Ami exclaimed excitedly. "It's just in the battle room. ...We should probably get another one and put it in an easier to access location..."

"Oh, definitely! I call dibs on decorating it!"

The younger sister rolled her eyes as Keith went on to explain that the vast majority of his team was fully capable of using his Z-Move, Acid Downpour (which sounded a lot more painful than hers did). "Huh, I guess they don't call you a Poison Master for nothing..."

Chroma had a completely different reaction to the list of acid-pool creators. "Wait, one of? You have two dusknoir?! Geez, you have a really low chance of being surrounded by lost spirits!" She took a deep breath and calmed herself. "You don't have a chandelure, I take it?"

'Traveled as an egg, huh?' the pumpkasaur asked thoughtfully. 'Perhaps it was when she was an infant? I don' remember when I hatched, at least... Either way, she'd've been pretty small when it happened!'

The Water Bubble Pokemon released his held breath(?) in relief. 'So I'm not actually missing anything? Thank goodness for that!' He nodded to Chromium. 'It's okay, I've already got my answer!'

"Oh, cool," Keith smiled as he was told where he could access a PC. But before that, the conversation on Z-Moves continued. "Heh, I dunno about master," he chuckled modestly.

"Well, I do," Meowth chimed in. "If youse can name a Poison-type, odds are dis guy owns either it or its evolved form.

Chroma then spoke up on one of the minor details Keith had mentioned, that being the fact that he had more than one Dusknoir. "Yeah, one of them, his name's Peeves, I raised him from a Duskull I hatched years ago," Keith replied. "The other one, Liliana, the one who knows Gunk Shot, a friend of mine actually raised her- Marion of the Elite Four- and she traded Liliana to me, since she and Peeves are in love, and she figured she'd be happier on my team." He listened as Chroma asked whether he had a Chandelure. "Nope," Keith shook his head. "I mean, I haven't ruled out the idea of raising one- Fire-types interest me as well, considering I grew up in Lavaridge Town- but I've never so much as owned a Litwick. I do have two Banette as well, though," he added.

"Could be," nodded Dennis as Butternut speculated that Pomona could have been an infant. "Though Chuck over there, he's got an idea about all this- he thinks that if Pomona's really from the future, that it could've been the work of Celebi. You know the legend, right, that Celebi can leave behind an Egg it brought from the future? I mean, I dunno if that's at all likely, but then, my Trainer did manage to save an island's Heatmor population by killing a giant Heatran who was terrorizing the local volcano, so I guess anything's possible."

"Glad I could help," Anion grinned.

"Good," Chromium stated as Bell told her he'd already gotten his answer. "No offense to you, but I have no intention of trying that stuff. This food's perfectly good the way it is."

"So, you need that bubble to breath, huh?" Anion asked. "So, what, if you go underwater, you could breathe just fine without that?" she asked curiously.

"Oh, good!" Chroma looked genuinely relieved that Keith didn't have a chandelure. "Those two species tend to have very different ideas on how to handle lost spirits, and well... it's rarely pretty when they meet. Almost made Mt. Pyre resemble its namesake a couple times..." She paused for effect. "The weird part is, dusclops and lampent tend to be just fine with each other. It's once they've both reached that last evolution that things get hairy- er, that's not quite the right adjective there..."

Ami shook her head at the older girl's rant and waited for a chance to speak up. "So, two banette, huh? How's that working out for you?"

'Wait, kill? As in, no longer breathin'?' Butternut gave Keith an awed glance. 'Man, the most excitin' thing I think mah human's done is deal with dat guy's evil ladybug!'

'No offence taken!' Bell's mood had definitely gotten better as he started to nibble on his not-quite-stir-fry-anymore packets. 'It would be rude to force it on someone, right?' He tilted his head in response to Anion's latest question, contemplating how best to answer it. 'I guess I could, but... then I'd have to remake it when I come back on land, and that would take a while to do...'

"Oh, wow, didn't know that," Keith remarked as Chroma explained that Dusknoir and Chandelure had quite different ideas regarding the handling of lost spirits. "Don't think I'll be going after a Litwick any time soon, then." He then turned to Ami as she asked how raising two Banette was working for him. "Pretty well, actually," Keith replied. "Banette have a bit of an ominous reputation, particularly in this region and especially since 2012, but in recent years I've come to have a real appreciation for Shuppet and Banette. One of them, her name is Myrtle, and she's about what many people would expect from a Banette- creepy, a bit ill-tempered, that sort of thing. She'd never admit it, though, but she's really sweet and kindhearted on the inside. Actually one of my most loyal Pokémon. And the other one, her name's Helena. Easy to tell her apart from Myrtle, as she has blue eyes instead of red. And even if there wasn't that, there's also their personalities. Helena's also sweet and kindhearted- the difference is, she openly shows this side of herself to others. She actually ran a Pokémon Center inside my Secret Base... well, back when it was still standing," he added. "But yeah- we're actually building her a proper Pokémon Center within easy walking distance of what'll be my new base," Keith grinned.

Chuck looked at Chroma. "You seem to really know your Ghost-types," he remarked.

"Yeah, Keith leads a pretty exciting life," nodded Dennis. "The story behind that Heatran's a pretty cool one. Long story, though. Basically, he goes to visit Aduro Island, finds out that Heatran's got it in for any Pokémon it didn't deem worthy to live in the volcano, which included, like, the last five or six Heatmor on the island. Keith gets outraged by this, and decides to do everything he can to save the Heatmor. So he works together with the leader of the Heatmor pack, they end up fighting Heatran itself, and Keith's using his Weezing, and the Heatmor leader's teaming up with them. Apparently- you know how Heatran's got this big steel plate for a forehead? Apparently, once Heatmor's Lick landed on that plate and paralyzed Heatran, Keith realized there must've been a weak spot on there, and started blasting it with attacks. It almost didn't work- Heatran was making one last attempt to kill 'em, the Weezing's still recharging from Hyper Beam, and Heatmor was knocked out by this point, but Keith also had his Hariyama out, and she landed the final blow with Focus Blast."

Chromium nodded in agreement with Bell, saying nothing more as she continued to consume her own food.

"Ah, yeah, that'd be a problem, wouldn't it?" Anion nodded as Bell responded to her question. "So, it lets you breathe on land, yeah? Does it give you any cool powers or anything besides the breathing thing?" she asked.

Both girls listened carefully as Keith described his banette, though Ami was the first to speak up when he was done. "Sounds like you got really lucky with them, huh? But, what happened to your Base?"

"A freak storm, a big red button, and a ledian with a superiority complex, to give the short version," Chroma quickly answered- it was probably for the best if they didn't dwell on that particular subject quite yet. Thankfully, their visitor had posed another question to change the subject with. "Well, you tend to live a lot about them when you spend much of your childhood in or near graveyards... My parents aren't exactly the most sane people around."

'Er, I actually didn' know about the face plate...' Butternut admitted. 'But tha' sounds like a very close call! But, uhh, what exac'ly is a heatmor?'

'Well, mine's very Fire-resistant and helps my Water attacks hit harder,' Bell explained. 'The information box says that a rare few of us can Absorb Water from other pokemons' attacks, but I think they got the worse deal that way!'
