Ultimate Pokémon Competition 2009
Ultimate Pokémon Competition 2009 With the beginning of July comes round four of FB's favourite competition. That's right! It's time to submit an entry for what YOU believe to be your Ideal Pokémon! Although most of you are familiar with the rules, here's a rundown, so get those thinking caps on because we'll all be waiting to see just who will be the one to create this year's Ultimate Pokémon! Rules 01) If you have won this competition before, you may not enter again. 02) You may submit a previous entry, or you can create something entirely new. 03) You may create a pre-evolution OR an evolution of a current Pokémon if you believe it to be viable. 04) You must submit both normal and shiny pictures of your Ideal Pokémon, and its evolutions if it has any, with its statistics. 05) Sprites are a preferable addition, but not necessary. 06) You must submit a FULL moveset including Gender Ratio (percentage of male to female), Classification, Type, Height, Weight, Evolution Chain if it has one, Ability based on those available in the games, Flavour Text, Egg Group, and a full set of Level Up, Egg, Move Tutor Moves, HMs and TMs. Base Statistics will be a nice addition, but not necessary. 07) When thinking of what you'll need to add, believe you are creating something new for the next generation of Pokémon and make it as detailed as possible. The more you add, the better your entry will be. 08) You may NOT make the Pokémon too powerful. If we believe you're adding too many overpowered moves your entry will be disqualified when they are put to the public vote. 09) Please be original. No Digimon, Neopet, or other animé copies will be accepted. This is supposed to be your Ideal Pokémon, so be creative. Voting * Entries may be submitted from now and will close on Friday, July 31. * Entries will be put up for a public vote beginning Saturday, August 1. * Voting closes on Saturday, August 8. * The winner will be announced either Saturday August 8, or Sunday August 9. * Should the voting result in a tie, then those entries with the most votes will be put up against one another for an additional three days. If there is still a tie after three days, the voting will stay open until a single winner is decided. Have fun! Previous Winners 2009 Winners! Last edited by enchantress; 08-18-2009 at 05:09 AM. Cruise ships, cargo ships and many others have been blown to pieces, survivors, and only a very small number, and barley able to talk due to shock, when they do they all claim to have seen a black ship with a lone captain on it and no crew, but before they can get a good look at it, the ship disappears into nothingness, not even the most profound professors and experts in the world know where this Pokemon comes from, all they know is even if a myth, there is a new Pokemon out in the seas ready to be discovered… Origins:….Like all Pokemon “Luvius” are born into the world, alive, full of happiness and not a care in the world, but behind this unknown species there is a sinister, more vengeful evil that makes this story more chilling, unknown to any explorers a species of what is known to be wolf like Pokemon are gathered in small numbers, one mighty leader, male sits infron of his many mates and cubs, all awaiting their turn to grow older and take their place as rightful leader of the pack after one lucky winner had defeated his brothers to gain the crown of leadership. But what happens before this, when the cubs are born is what “Luvius” has become the vengeful Pokemon that it is, when born the leader of the pack sense each of the new male, seeing their future knowledge and Potential, all strong willed fighters are moved to a special cave near the seas so they can grow and train ready to take their rightful place as leader. The ones the leader sees as weak and mongrel like are without any hesitation cast into the ocean to drown to their deaths, but what takes place when the cubs are on their last breath is a ghostly transformation into what you see now. “Luvius” takes it upon himself to seek vengeance on his pack, sailing the seas of the world in hops to find where this flock moves onto next, destroying anything or anyone in its way. Name: Lavicid.
Etymology: Lava (Molten rock that has surfaced) + Formicidae (Family that includes ants and wasps) Type: Fire/Bug. Classification: Larva Pokémon. Evolution Chain: Lavicid -[Level 22]> Tephrant Height: 1’ 11” Weight: 17.2 lbs. Egg Group: Monster/ Bug. Gender Ratio: Male 75%/Female 25%. Pokedex Category: Cave Wild Hold Item: Charti Berry (5%) Egg Steps to hatch: 7,680 steps. EVs gained from defeat: 1 Spd. Base Experience Rate: 1059840 Exp. Catch Rate: 80 Base Happiness: 70 Pal Park Location: Mountain Flavour Text: Lavicid reside in subterranean complexes within dormant volcanoes. When there is activity within the volcano, it is a sure sign that Lavicid are in the midst of their courtship rituals. Lavicid have very small mandibles. To make up for this, their antennae have mutated into large horns akin to their mandibles. These are used to forage for food, rather than for combat. When mating season comes around, the females flash their crystals on their thoraxes to attract males, who compete for the female via smoke plumes from their own thoraxes. Ability: Flame Body (Burns Pokémon who use contact moves 30% of the time) Swarm (Ups the power of Bug moves by 50% when 1/3 of health remains) Colour Category: Orange. Evolution Chain: Lavicid –[Level 22]> Tephrant Height: 5’02” Weight: 681.2 lbs. Egg Group: Monster/Bug. Gender Ratio: Male 75%/Female 25% Pokedex Category: Cave Wild Hold Item: Charti Berry (5%) EVs gained from defeat: 2 Sp.Att, 1 Def Base Experience Rate: 1059840 Exp. Catch Rate: 30 Base Happiness: 50 Pal Park Location: Mountain Flavour Text: Tephrant are amazingly strong, with their ability to move with surprising speed in spite of their heavy obsidian armour. The accumulation of impurities in the air entering the small furnace on their abdominal sections fuels the Pokémon. Highly aggressive, few are the trainers who have stumbled across a Tephrant colony and survived to tell the tale. Their claws produce a highly flammable substance that combusts upon air contact, which they throw with great force. Much of their weight comes from the obsidian glass armour forged from the immense pressure and heat in their bodies, the raw material of which comes from their rocky diet. Ability: Flash Fire (Fire attacks are increased in power by 50% if hit by a fire move) Compoundeyes (Accuracy of moves is increased by 30%) Colour Category: Black. The natural exception, however, is that it was designed after the fire ant, specifically the red imported variety, which is known as an invasive species. The shiny colour scheme is referencing very hot flames, which tend to be blue. Tephrant: Tephrant’s design is much like Lavicid, only clad in hefty obsidian shell, more like a beetle than an ant, but the useless wings on the back are a reference to the fact that it could have easily became a wasp after evolution, due to both being under the same order and ants evolving from wasp-like ancestors. Tephrant, naturally, appears much more advanced than Lavicid, with pronged claws on its feet, although the absence of antennae is rather subficial. Tephrant’s thorax is much like a volcanic bomblet with the veins, with the orange a rather common colour for fire ants. The shiny colour scheme’s obsidian shell colour is white, akin to ash, with yellow veins making a nod towards something mighty and holy. In both species, the females have crystals on their abdominal sections, modelled mainly as glowing organs, while the males have smokers, a nod towards proper volcanoes which belch smoke prior to eruption. Statistics: Lavicid started off as a pretty featureless Pokémon with a nod towards offense, notable by its somewhat higher offenses and speed compared to its poor defensive power. Designed much like a more aggressive Wurmple or whatnot, it is also lacking in movepool, geared mainly towards attacking or debuffing, with the tutored moves being sparse. The egg moves mean that ingame it can’t run both Tail Glow and Swords Dance on one set, nor can it utilise Harden and Tail Glow, if the chance ever arose. Tephrant’s statistics lay it down as a no-nonsense physically bulky sweeper, with mixed offensive power and surprisingly high speed for something so heavy. Tephrant’s standard movepool is geared heavily towards demolishing the opposition with powerful attacks, adding newfound gaiakinetic powers in the rock moves, while in terms of tutor moves it has a rather staple sweeper set with support options. It is important to note that it gets Swagger and Explosion as tutor moves exclusively and Swords Dance as an egg move, all of which are TM moves. Speaking of which, Tephrant’s machine pool is quite large with a variety of physical attack and some special options, mostly those which involve sphere attacks such as Energy Ball and Shadow Ball, which it would create either via spitting or generating in claws. It does have support options, such as Stealth Rock and Toxic, as well as some major power moves such as Focus Punch and Overheat. In terms of typing, Fire and Bug is quite flawed with a double weakness to rock, hence the hold item Charti Berry with reduces the power of rock moves, and yet the typing has its advantages, such as a double resist to grass, a single resist to fighting, and the natural immunity of being burned from fire attacks. In terms of ability, the underdeveloped Lavicid’s flame body develops from being uncontrollable heat to the controlled heat of Tephrant’s Flash Fire, while Lavicid’s tendency to swarm is replaced by advanced eyesight in the way that Tephrant’s eyes are larger and more developed. |

Shiny Thanks Stark <3 Apologies I couldn't get the white background transparent. Species Name: Papileon (Pa-pil-e-on) Type: Bug Height: 2"9 Weight: 49.5 lbs Species: Petalouda Habitat: N/A Ability: Effect Spore Gender: 7/8 Male 1/8 Female Breeding Group: Ground Steps To Hatch: 8,960 Evolution Chain: Eevee - Level up while holding a bug-type TM -> Papileon Flavour Text: Laced in it's fur is a thin powder, which, in the wild is made activate to fend off prey. The powders have various effects on any Pokemon whom make contact with this Pokemon's coat. Though PAPILEON are more commonly kept as pets or used in shows for their status as a 'toy' species in the canine-Pokemon catagory. It's quite small and light-weight in comparison to most of EEVEE's other evolutions and being a bug type it's generally quite frail, however, it makes up for this in strength and speed. Due to the stimulated method of evolution it is still unknown at this moment in time how EEVEE's evolve into this species in the wild. Origins: The name Papileon is based on a breed of dog by the name of "Pappillion" which in French, translates literally to 'Butterfly'. A name given due to the breeds light fluffy 'butterfly' esque ears. The patterns on it's ears resemble that of a 'Red Admiral', a rather common breed of butterfly found in the Scottish countryside and elsewhere. The unique snowflake patterns and soft warm fur of the blue fox was once a highly valuable commodity for those who could afford to pay for it. As such these pokémon were hunted to the brink of extinction by those looking to cash in. A gold rush of sorts forced the pokémon to retreat from its once vast expanse of territory to only the most remote of locations. It has been rumored that a few Arkitsu still survive and even thrive in the Northlands living solitary lives in a fight to survive in the harsh elements. Fenrice have been a part of storytelling since it's earliest incarnations. Be it as a spiritual guide or a villain in a fairy tale, these large pokémon have been a source of fear and wonder for centuries. A one time pack hunter, the small number of Fenrice still existing have only been spotted alone. Whether the influence of mankind or a natural evolution of the species in general, anyone who sees more than one of these creatures in a lifetime is considered extremely fortunate. It is rumored that if you listen close enough during a full moon you can hear the sorrowful howling cry of a Fenrice calling out in search of a family to become a part of. I'm voting for Arn's Luvius. The reason that I'm voting for it is that I find the concept of a Pirate Ghost Dog very original for a pokemon and I think that the pokemon itself is very interesting.

Empoleon Dynamite's Otsuto looks like it could actually be a pokémon, and I appreciate how it's recognizably a beetle, despite Diabuto's resemblance to Scizor.
He gets my vote. |

My vote goes to Mewsic Box's Burlamb and Burlama. It has a lot of effort gone into it with the humping sprites, detailed pictures and little picture thing from pokemon dungeons. As much as I appreciate the ideas and detail that have gone into everyone elses, I still love the idea and artwork of the lamb pokemon and for that I give everyone an applause.

As my other two favourites already have a vote, I'm going to plump for Stark's Arkitsu. Just beautiful.

honestly, I have a tie between 3 of the pokes, not counting my own... but my vote has to go to
Empoleon Dynamite's Otsuso, it seems like it's the most likely to be a real pokemon, and the funny thing is the two extremes between cute and cool looking really helps it a lot. |

My vote belongs to Emp. I love the concept of contest stat evolution. And to see it used along with split evolutions (which is another favorite evolution method) I felt compelled to vote Otsuto. Plus I think Kyute is so adorable, the art on all three is great, very pokemon-like!

I'm voting for Otsuto, Emp's entry. The concept is great, plus Kyuto is frickin awesome. I could actually see it in a game, too, which says a lot about it being a high quality Fakemon.

My vote goes for Mewsic Box’s Burlama (The lamb is good too, but the llama was what impressed me the most). The concept is very interesting in itself, the drawings make me smile. Whist I have my competitive head on, I’d love to see the Livestock Pokemon in Fizzy Bubbles, so good luck MB! Although my vote goes for Burlamb, I really liked a lot of this years entries, namely Paknac, Arkitsu and Luvius.

This was very tough to choose from this field of pokémon. All of them have great potential and are interesting in their own ways. It is extremely easy to genuinely say good things about all of the entries. Everyone who entered should be very proud. I could see any one of these pokémon being in a game.
However, I believe after a lot of hemming and hawing over which one I like the most that Burlamb edges out Papileon and Smackle by a ridiculously small amount and gets my vote. It seems to me to be the most well-balanced visually and statistically pokémon in the field and I think the concept, while simple, is great. |

2009 Ultimate Pokémon - The Winners!
2009 Ultimate Pokémon - The Winners! Voting has been open for a week so the winners of FB's 2009 Ultimate Pokémon Competition have been decided. In 1st Place we have empoleon dynamite with Otsuto, the Firefly Pokémon. You will receive the ultimate reward of owning the Pokémon you have created though there are rules attached to ownership of Custom Pokémon which are listed here. In 2nd Place we have Mewsic Box with Burlamb, the Livestock Pokémon. You will receive one Triple Move Tutor Pass + 3 rare candies. In 3rd Place we have Arnold with Luvius, the Sea Dog Pokémon, and Stark with Arkitsu, the Snow Fox Pokémon. You will each receive 1 Heart Scale + 3 rare candies. Firewater, PikaGod, Lonely Cubone, fishyfool, SP-Eevee, and ZoraJolteon will each receive a Move Tutor Pass and 2 rare candies for having entered. It's always sad to see this competition come to an end, and even sadder that not everyone can claim first prize, but just remember that even if you didn't win this time it doesn't mean that your entry isn't good. I'd like to thank each and every one of our entrants on well thought out and designed Pokémon, as well as those who voted for their help in deciding our winners. Each of our entrants are just as deserving of winning this competition as the next person, so even if you haven't claimed first prize this year please don't be discouraged as you have a whole year to think about your 2010 entry! Congratulations to everyone on a job well done ^-^. |
