All right, I'll bite this time. You forgot the "-dess", but you've summoned my attention. (It's not because I was just talking about Mirai Nikki and Another to Lost and Cibbir on Skype...)

Watched the first two eps. Agreeing with Midge's sentiments so far.

Didn't really feel like sitting through the second after how rushed and whiplash-y the first one was. (Also fuck that throat scene.) The second was a little better in pacing I guess. I hate how the story just hits you over the head with its tropes though. I could've gotten behind the whole "flamboyant guy making suggestive passes at the MC" angle for some subtle running humor like Itsuki x Kyon, but as soon as they come out and just say that he's gay it kills the joke. Also "Night Raid"... Because they raid at night. Wow. What happened to "show, don't tell"? (This has like the opposite problem of MCA by being too blunt with its presentation and dialogue. *shot*) Though I guess it's sorta amusing how the protagonist just calls the blonde girl "boobs" off the bat.

Character designs and personalities seem kinda meh/cliché so far. Tatsumi feels like Kirito in Naegi's clothing. Boss lady is cool. I like her claw-thing. The strip-down scene at the end was kinda sweet too. Hope the characters become more likeable and that sense of camaraderie strengthens as the series goes on.

Preview shows fanservice... Yay. Feels like a harem series with the number of females that's been thrown at the screen so far. Is the green-haired person (who's had no lines so far that I can recall) even a guy or a girl?

Will give this a chance, but might not be following too closely, especially since it's confirmed to be a 2-cour series.

The whole thing between the main guy and Akame just felt...I dunno...hollow I guess? We get bits where she acts all kuudere towards him, then all of a sudden "I'M GLAD YOU WEREN'T HURT!" Then "Awwww...you were worried about me~" Also I really hope this show cuts down on the harem "comedy". Though judging from next week's preview, that wish will go ungranted. *sigh* That fucking changing scene.

Well here's to hoping the main guy will turn bloodthirsty.

Yeah, this show intends on being nothing more than a dumb action show. The good guys must kill the evil rich people! It's silly how the martial artist guy couldn't do anything when the main guy was holding onto him. His arms were free, and he kills people with his bare hands? Forced struggle much?! Also pinky getting attached to the main guy after his generic "I'm doing this for my family!" speech. This show is giving me 11 Eyes vibes. Just slightly less dumb.

Akame ga Kill! Episode 4

We're still not into the substantive stuff yet, but there were some hints. The Teigu dump happened chronologically before the last episode IIRC, some stuff was cut before Tatsumi-Akame's first rendezvous.

The fight was really cool. I enjoyed it, but I have a weird standard for entertainment, so I'm super curious what others thought.

I guess this explains why I never saw Sheele in the later event stuff. Also explains why Mine and Tasumi hate Justice! Although I thought things were a bit dumb: why did Sheele go back to rescue Mine, instead of killing Justice and thus destroying her Teigu? Sheele's death was also too dramatic I felt, not nearly as mercilessly brutal as I would have liked to really hammer home it was a horrific killing.

I wonder if BBB has upped this to anime of the season now. Alllll the Yu-Gi-Oh!-style faces!

Akame ga Kill! - 8

I knew Bulat died because Tatsumi was using Incursio, and last week clued me in that this week was the week, but I was still surprised Bulat got what was an honourable death. What happened to Sheele was outright disgusting, and sadly disgraceful. It was also a complete loss because Sheele was killed and Night Raid lost a Teigu, while they've gained three here with the annihilation of Esdeath's personal guard.

An interesting aspect about this episode that was left untouched in other shows - and, actually, something I decided to incorporate into Jinsei wa Hikikomogomo! - is how blunt force trauma can hurt someone through armour. Bulat too heavy damage from the tidal snakes slamming into him. In Katanagatari, Shichika defeated an armour-using swordsman by body slamming him. This happens in the real world too, so it's nice to see it being demonstrated by the show.

RIP Kamina 2.0. We hardly knew ye.

So. That happened.

I know from the manga spoilers that Lubbock died in a similar way - also after killing Syura - but the anime omitted a lot of Syura's monstrous ways, like raping and murdering Bols' family on his gravesite when they came to mourn him. The anime cut a lot of the power of what Lubbock did, so rushing his death is a disservice.

That said, his death upset me even in the anime canon. The primary reason: Najenda. She knew Lubbock was head-over-heels in love with him but didn't reciprocate his feelings, or even address them. Night Raid, like the eishi in Muv-Luv Alternative, have "live for today, for you may not see tomorrow!" type lives. What Mine did was obviously a death flag given she wants to wait given her line of work, but Najenda didn't really have any reason for not addressing Lubbock's feelings, unless she only saw him as a tool to be manipulated, and did not want to be in a relationship with him. I don't like seeing one of my favourite characters get controlled like that.

If she DID have some feelings for Lubbock, and wanted to wait until the war is over, she's an idiot. That would be a total bull-crack justification because as the tactical commander she should know better how unlikely it is everyone lives until revolution day.
