TIP: Don't rely on luck.
I know you guys are just looking to have fun with this hack and all, but hi-crit rate has never been a successful strategy. It's why you don't see Blaziken using Focus Energy and Slash holding a Scope Lens. Or Gen5 Absol using Night Slash/Scope Lens/Super Luck. |

Yeah, but crit hax is Absol's only claim to fame, since Sucker Punch didn't exist.
...Unless you buff his special attack. |

Absol's claim to fame has always been that insane physical attack stat. It's why HGSS saw the rise of Superpower Absol and why that's still pretty much the Absol everyone uses. Swords Dance on a switch (if possible) and then Superpower away. Sucker Punch too, obviously, but we're addressing what people used Absol for back in the day. And I'm saying that even without playtoys like Sucker Punch or Superpower you still had people teaching him things like Body Slam or Shadow Ball and Choice Banding him.

Yeah, he had that fantastic attack, but he was outclassed but just about every other physical sweeper due to no STAB. Then again, on the other hand, without Super Luck, Absol was no more a crit abuser than every other pokemon with Slash.
Wait, how did I even start defending Crit-abuse Absol? This started with me saying Absol had no reason to be Normal-typed just to get STAB on Slash. 0_o Anyway, my actual opinion is that two things fix Absol up nicely- implementing the DPPt phys/spec split, and giving him a more workable speed. And you could code in Sucker Punch if you're feeling nice. I guess you'd have to program it to work like a reverse Magic Coat (Which shouldn't be too hard if you have ASM know how, since Magic Coat uses it's own flag). |

And I never said otherwise. I'm just pointing out to you that whensoever people used Absol in Generation 3, they tried to use him as a choiced beacon of physical destruction. I never said anything about whether he was good, popular, outclassed, etc. You on the other hand made this bogus claim about critical hits being Absol's only claim to fame. I just wanted to demonstrate how wrong that was and still is. Super Luck is used not because it makes Absol amazing but because Pressure doesn't really do shit for Absol (Pressure's only really good on bulky Pokémon like Suicune). When people use Absol in Gen 5, they're not doing it for Night Slash + Super Luck. That's just icing on the cake they hope to be eating. The cake they're purchasing is a cake made of base 130 Attack, powerful physical attacks, and either Swords Dance or Choice Band to augment those attacks' power.

Yeah, see, that's exactly what I was trying to say. Didn't phrase it very well, though. XD
When I said 'his only claim to fame' I was going more for 'the niche that sets him apart of others of his ilk'. But, even then, I guess that's more a IV/V thing than a III thing. >< |

I think he meant that he went back to the original unaltered Emerald to set the changes back up in a better way.

And this is what happens when I try to make a joke. >_<
What I was trying to do was express horror at the amount of work starting a hack over from scratch would take. Then again, I guess well-kept changelogs makes it a lot easier. |

I believe he is most likely going to wipe out all evidence of game moves, TM's, Traits, etc. but leave the storyline completely alone. Then he can change moves if he needs to, and if he doesn't need to he can input the old moves back in.

You can't do Gen V Growth in this. There's no effect to boost attack and special attack, never mind the sunlight thing. You'd need ASM knowledge to do that.
(Okay, this is creepy. I already had every other change in MY hack, other than Leech Seed on Treeko.) |

The Elemental Punches are redudant IMHO, but I may be in the minority.
I think there should be a Hydro Pump TM and a Drill Peck TM.

Since it's in-game, the Reflect, Safeguard, and Light Screen TMs might be frivolous. Roar, too.
