The Lorax
trailer
Seems to be loosely based off of the book of the same name by Dr. Seuss. It takes place after the book in that it ... Spoiler: show It also takes the focus away from a purely industry vs. nature bent and introduces something of an Orwellian dystopia for our would-be hero to overcome. Could be good, could be terrible. Only time will tell. Thoughts? I'm leaning towards "good for the kids, a little too silly for the grown-ups." Still wouldn't mind seeing it at least once though. And it could surprise me and be very, very good on the whole.

I saw the trailer for it, I'm inclined to agree with you. I thought Horton Hears a Who was good, especially considering I was disgusted by all of the other Doctor Seuss movies up to that point, but the Lorax looks like they may continue the good work of Horton.
*shrug* Time will tell.

That one was pretty far reaching.
... The Lorax is my all-time favourite Seuss book, so I was really excited when I heard it was going to be a movie. Hearing the creative changes, though...what? Did the producers deliberately try to shy away from the ecological concerns? Did they bow to political pressure like YouTube did to the RIAA? Conservation was the whole point of the book! And what's this, a tacked on romance? With Zac Efron and Taylor Swift? ಠ_ಠ I dunno...I'm prepared to designate this battleship sunk.
