With the towering monolith of the Ancient Aerie visible for miles around, the arriving raiding party could spy their foe stampeding around upon its flat top from a fair distance. As the beast reached the sheer edges of the Aerie, rocks and pebbles slid down the harsh side of the monolith, creating an even more dangerous environment than before. With this in mind, the awaiting team mates of Zak are quick to usher the arrivals through the system of tunnels to the top of the rock.

Arriving at its peak, the Rhyhorn quickly spots the new arrivals and begins to paw at the ground before itself once more, sending out a roar to intimidate the newcomers as it does so. It looked as if the battle was about to begin as the Dynamax energy that was thick in the air began to swirl around Sunflora in particular.

Faced with the raucous rhinoceros, the raiders set about preparing themselves for the ground shaking battle to come. As Machop focuses its energies for the bout, Shiinotic nurtures its powers through growth and Sunflora scatters a bunch of leeching seeds onto the rhino's thick hide. Adding to this, the Dewpider unleashes an infestation of microscopic parasites to hide amongst the crevices in its armour and deliver unseen blows alongside the attacks from the raiders.

With a roar, the Dynamax Rhyhorn lunges into its own actions. On two legs and with horn held aloft, the Spikes Pokémon delivers an impressive swords dance, swishing its horn as if it was a blade. With this move helping to gear it up for the rest of the round, the rhino slams itself back down to four legs and unleashes a Max Quake beneath Machop. With the round at its end, the Sunflora manages to sap a little of the beast's life force at the same time as the infestation begins to bite at the behemoth.

Chosen to undergo the same Dynamax process as the rampant Rhyhorn, Dewpider quickly grows as tall as a building and stands off against the rhino alongside its much smaller raiding counterparts. With a Max Darkness unleashed, the heightened defences of the Rhyhorn are brought back to normal and two more of the raiders manage to get hits in before the beast erects a trio of protective shields. Despite this, Machop continues to execute its order, smashing through one of the panes with ease with its Karate Chop.

Choosing to take a more offensive approach this round, the Rhyhorn prepares to retaliate against the raiders. First up, it tosses back its head and releases a powerful Flamethrower which licks at the Machop that took out its first shield, bringing the humanoid to its knees in defeat. With a knock-out under its belt, the Spikes Pokémon delivers another Max Quake, this time below the feet of the Shiinotic. With its pair of attacks complete, the rhino winces at the itching pain of the infestation and feels some of its life forced drained once again by the leeching seeds between its plates.

In the absence of Machop, Michael cheers alongside Sunflora to bring down the shields that stood in front of the Dynamaxed Rhyhorn. Exposed to their attacks once again, Shiinotic delivers another powerful Giga Drain and loses some health from its Life Orb... before replenishing a whole lot more from the rhino. The towering Dewpider is next to make a move, unleashing a horrific torrent in the form of a Max Geyser, delivering the harshest blow of the match so far. Not only that, the Max Move brought with it a torrential downpour with each of the raiders and their Pokémon becoming quickly soaked by the pouring rains.

Desperate to prevent its defeat, the Dynamaxed Rhyhorn quickly erects another trio of shields to hide behind and begins to prepare a desperate plan for retaliation against the raiders. Seeking to boost its defences once more, a Max Steelspike emerges from the ground below the Sunflora, ripping up through the earth to hit the flower. Next up, the beast leaps into the air before crashing back down on the top of the monolith to send an Earthquake toward its foes. With its attacks done and its hitpoints dwindling, the infestation and leeching seeds continue to do their damage as the rain pours across the battlefield.

At the sight of this, the towering Dewpider uses its limited time to unleash a rain-enhanced Max Geyser beneath the beast, felling it where it stands before it can make its move.

At the Rhyhorn's defeat, the Dynamax energy began to leave its system as quickly as it had entered and in a moment the youngster was back to its normal size and looking rather ashamed for its actions. Seeing similar happen to the Dewpider, the Spike Pokémon uses this distraction to slip into one of the tunnels in the hopes of avoiding any further punishment. Seeing this, Zak couldn't help but chuckle - he knew the curious critter wouldn't stay away for long but he'd be sure to warn any other plucky Pokémon not to wander too close to the Power Spot in future.
