Having recently had to proof 20,000 leaflets for an external party I can understand why mistakes might happen.

1) What did they think was going to happen? That was so incredibly stupid of the guy who gave the chimpanzee the gun. They're all lucky that no one was injured or killed.

2) Never seen that before. 33 million views. Three years old. Man.

That was one in a series of videos to promote Fox's Rise of the Planet of the Apes. So I'm assuming it's not real.

I did not notice the uploader, "Apes will Rise" until you mentioned that. The labeling (like the 'primate behaviour' stuff), the high quality of the film and the oddly sharp sound effect of the chair falling do start to shed some doubt in my mind. But heck, no doubt the reason it's so widely viewed is it's the most believable - chimps are definitely strong enough to wield a gun without suffering recoil. I can imagine soldiers fooling around to be dumb enough to hand a chimp a gun.

I wonder if it's a CGI chimpanzee or one that was taught to fire. There isn't a lot of focus on it so it's tougher to look if it stands out, so maybe it's a combo of both since the soldier definitely hands a real gun to something. The constant shaking of the camera definitely makes it harder to tell if the chimp is fake because it's constantly in motion. From 0:18-0:19 it looks like possible CGI.

Dang though. I was fooled and watching it over and over I still feel skeptical, even knowing that the aggregate details don't add up to a real film.

Pretty sure there's a scene in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (the one out this year) where an ape plays dumb near some human guards, then swipes their gun and kills them or something.

I don't care what anyone says.

Saddam Hussein, as leader of the Baath Party, was the most hygienic dictator in history.

That is pretty wow. It reminds me of some videos I watched recently on YouTube to the tune of "Top 20 [Superlative] [Noun]s", e.g. Top 20 Worst Kids Toys. In several of the videos, there would be products that clearly looked phallic. I am not the sort of person who sees phallic imagery where others tend to. On the contrary, I'm the one who when you point it out then gives you a hard time for being a dirty minded person because I genuinely didn't see it. But even I could see the phallic design in some of these products. Anyway, yeah. Same idea as your link. The guy in the videos would ask, "How did no one in an entire company notice this? Did no one think it was a bad idea?" I feel like he'd ask similar questions of the Colombian women's cycling team's jersey maker.

I was minding my own business in a restaurant when a couple started making out at a table across the room. I didn't watch, but coincidentally my mp3 player ran this and this song consecutively.

I had a really hard time trying not to laugh. I'm so immature.

Guy 1: My family assumed I would eat everything.

Guy 2: And they were probably right, weren't they Stephen. Weren't they.

Spoiler: show
The first guy's bit alone is funny, but the second guy's response makes the whole thing hilarious. 10/10 word choice and delivery. 10/10.

I reckon pro gun control people will one day make a majority of American voters, because this sort of thing happens to the kind of people who're against it.

I thought that that guy handled the call surprisingly well. A minute and a half is not really that much time for it to take somebody to realize that a call is a prank call, and if the call quality is poor then it's very understandable that the aural clues that clue us in to the troller's voice being synthetic wouldn't necessarily clue him in. It takes about a minute for other clues (e.g. the repetition of phrases) to clue him in to what's going on, but that's really not too bad. You have people who get strung along by these prank calls all the time for five, ten minutes, sometimes even longer. The man was calm, polite (until the 2nd call), and insofar as he thought he was dealing with a terrorist or would-be murderer (before he realized what was going on) he did a decent job of keeping the caller on the line and trying to get information from him.

The best part? That, while he misheard the name ("Sorakage" he kept saying instead of Surakage -- or rather, Nobitsura Kage), he immediately recognized that the sword being requested did not exist. Guy clearly knows his authentic Japanese swords. (That or he only knows of a few swords and is willing to swiftly dismiss any other sword names he's never heard of before. But I'd like to think it's not this one.)

The caller mentioned Skype, is that how these pranks are pulled off?

I saw a note like this at Staple's and the recipient had written underneath something along the lines of "f off you can't tell me what to do".
