Max Raid Boss Cufant ★★★ Health Gauge: 52% Shields Up: 0 Status: Sand Tomb (3), Burn, Psychic Terrain (2) Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Rock Slide (75 BP) Attack 2: Max Quake (130 BP) Attack 3: Zen Headbutt (800 BP) Raid Challengers:
The raiders are fast to capitalise on the Copperderm's vulnerability and with two weak bursts of fire, the shields are shattered and the raid boss is left open to a devastating assault, Riolu biding his time waiting for an opportunity to counter the many physical blows the elephant is capable of. The raiders nearly push it to its second threshold, but the trumpeting creature seems to stand idle, as if the powers that be are idling, and a very close look into its mammoth eyes for those with impeccable observation skills would reveal them to be ever so subtly shifting around nervously, as though awaiting orders from a greater force. The sudden snap back to reality and tumbling boulders lets the raiders know the fight is far from won, Hippopotas left hanging on by a thread while the others take some damage, before the ground erupts beneath Riolu in a mighty Max Quake that knocks the Emanation pokemon clean out, the mighty elephant cancelling out its prior special vulnerability, before utilising the terrain once more and slamming its trunk down upon the Blaziken for a hard hit, even through the burn as it and the sand tomb ebbs away at its vitality. Usually, one uses a battering ram to get into a castle. So what you do if the castle is the one ramming you? Max Quake (based off of Scorching Sands; 120 BP)!

Cufant wasn't messing around at this point, continuing to hammer its numerous opponents with powerful moves, its Rock Slide and Zen Headbutt further fueled by Sheer Force, and while the Max Quake wasn't powered up in such a manner, it was still enough to knock the Riolu clean out. With Hippopotas being in such rough shape following the Rock Slide, Maribel assumed that the Ground-type would be the natural target of the healing bundle of Dynamax Energy from the Riolu's Trainer, especially since Cufant didn't have any shields up at this point. It came, therefore, as something of a surprise to both her and Hippopotas when the Trainer instead opted to heal up a relatively healthy Blaziken. Maribel elected to not dwell on it, though Hippopotas's mouth actually fell open in incredulous exasperation. "Never mind, Hippopotas," Maribel stated. "They must have their reasons. In the meantime, come over here." She was reaching into her back as she spoke, and as Hippopotas turned to look, Maribel produced a yellow and green spray bottle from her bag- a Full Restore. "We need you healthy, so let's get you taken care of, OK?" she said gently as the Ground-type approached her.
"Hippo," Hippopotas sighed gratefully. He winced initially as the medicine was sprayed on him, but the initial sting very quickly gave way to sweet, sweet relief. He smiled gratefully at Maribel after the Full Restore had done its work, and then turned back to Cufant, ready for action once more. "Hippoooooopotas!" he declared defiantly. OOC: Using Full Restore #1 of 2 on Hippopotas. |

Max Raid Boss Cufant ★★★ Health Gauge: 45% Shields Up: 1 Status: Sand Tomb (4), Burn, Psychic Terrain (3), Sandstorm (1) Trainer Recovery Summary Lil'twick (Riolu): Cheer Pearl's Perap (Blaziken): 470 HP Missingno. Master (Hippopotas): Full Restore Missingno. Master (Hippopotas): 300 HP Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Fissure (0 BP) Attack 2: Max Rockfall (130 BP) Attack 3: Earth Power (90 BP) The raiders were buffeted by the sandstorm! Raid Challengers:
KO count: 3 Near its threshold, it only takes one mighty kick from a rejuvenated Blaziken to bring the oversized elephant to its second set of shields, and the assault leaves but one flimsy barrier remaining, the Dumbo wannabe aching under the assault but vehemently frustrated with the actions of the trainers, especially that Hippopotas fully restoring its health! It'll make sure nobody gets away with that one! With a sudden impossible burst, the Cufant jumps at least twice its already tremendous height into the air before coming down with meteoric force, the very earth shattering as it lands with sheer nuclear impact. Hippopotas bears the resilient brunt of a falling stalactite horde as sand and debris swirls painfully, while the Palossand shrinks back to regular size as tectonic energy erupts beneath her, while Houndour suffers the most: as if on cue, the dog stands on thin air before looking down at the fissure beneath it, and gravity takes effect, the canine plummeting dozens of feet! It'll take them at least a round to climb out of that one! Dynamax Initiative: EXPIRED

Normally, most Trainers would have some strenuous objections to seeing a gigantic stone slab fall onto their Pokémon. And not without reason, in all fairness. But in this case, all things considered, Maribel knew full well it could be far worse. For one thing, the Pokémon of hers taking this heinously powerful Max Rockfall was her Hippopotas. A Ground-type, and therefore nice and resistant to Rock-type attacks. For another thing, Cufant was still burned from earlier, so the attack was even less impactful (Maribel was at least reasonably certain Cufant didn't get any Rock-type special attacks, anyway). Third, she knew she could have it much worse, having watched that poor Houndour get subjected to a friggin' Fissure attack. And finally, perhaps the most important point of all, was not the Max Move itself, but rather, what happened in the aftermath of it.
Maribel couldn't help but grin as the Max Rockfall stirred up a sandstorm. This wasn't typically something one wanted to see in a situation like this- Cufant, after all, wasn't about to take any damage from it, whereas many of Maribel's allies would take damage from this weather. But what got Maribel grinning was knowing what the sandstorm was doing in her favor. "Hippopotas," Maribel stated. Hippopotas turned back to see a confident smile on his Trainer's face. "Now's your chance to show what you can really do!" she declared. Hippopotas grinned back. "Hippo!" he nodded, before turning back to Cufant. By this point, the shields were all gone- nothing left to protect the Copperderm Pokémon. "It's time!" declared Maribel. "So Hippopotas, use Scorching Sands now!" "Hippooooo... POTAS!" sneezed Hippopotas, blasting red-hot Sand from his nostrils with great Force. OOC: Hippopotas used Scorching Sands (70 BP; powered up by Sand Force). |

Max Raid Boss Cufant ★★★ Health Gauge: 25% Shields Up: 0 Status: Misty Terrain (1), Sandstorm (2) Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Shockwave (0 BP) Attack 2: Steel Roller (130 BP) Attack 3: Max Starfall (130 BP) The raiders were buffeted by the sandstorm! Raid Challengers:
KO count: 3 Getting weary, the cheering of Houndour's trainer shatters the last bulwark of the elephant, leaving it completely open to a devastating assault that leaves it reeling, even as Riolu stands there awkwardly waiting for an attack to come its way, but by now the burn and sand tomb ebbing at the Dumbo wannabe are too much for it. With a mighty bellow, a shockwave blows away its defence drops and soothes its burn, before it curls up and promptly steamrolls over the Hippopotas, the psychic terrain utterly breaking apart under the steel type's weight and the hippo barely holding on, before a starry meteor knocks Pidove to the ground, a different sort of terrain replacing it as the raid boss stands there desperate, wobbling slightly as the downed caning finally climbs out of the fissure, healed up by the dynamax energy and rather peeved at the sudden burst of physical exercise the poor poch had to undergo. Maribel gritted her teeth as their latest volley of attacks was met by a forceful shockwave. Gone were Cufant's reduced Defense and Special Defense, as well as its burn. It wasn't an attack to them, but it wasn't the best thing in any case. And as though to drive that point home, Cufant then targeted Hippopotas with a devastating Steel Roller, a brutal Steel move that even destroyed the sheer weirdness that had, until now, been permeating the battlefield. "Hippopotas!!" Maribel shrieked.
However, upon the conclusion of the attack, Hippopotas unsteadily got right back up. "...potas!" he declared, shakily yet resolutely. Maribel exhaled in reiief, just as Cufant attacked again. This time, it targeted the Pidove, and with a Max Starfall, the aftermath of which caused wisps of fog to swirl around ground level- even if the Steel Roller hadn't obliterated the Psychic Terrain, this instance of Misty Terrain would have done the trick anyway. Hippopotas was back to being perilously low on hit points, but this time Maribel wasn't too worried, because Cufant wasn't faring much better. Maribel took a deep breath and let it out. Even if Cufant had cleared away the weakened defenses, even if it had cleared away its burn... it hadn't cleared away the sandstorm. That was still blowing strong, and Hippopotas would be just as powered up by it as he was the last time. "We're still in this- just a little more, Hippopotas!" she called encouragingly. "Use your Scorching Sands attack!" "Hippooooo... POTAS!" sneezed Hippopotas, once again blasting red-hot Sand from his nostrils with great Force. OOC: Hippopotas used Scorching Sands (70 BP; powered up by Sand Force). |
