Gallade UPN PASBL - Gym Match: Weebos VS. Empoleon Dynamite

Well, I've ended up here again quick. Stats:

Donnybrook Shopping Mall
And with Weebs having handed out one of his Badges to a lucky challenger (trollface.png), we'll have to see if he can turn his fortune around. Probably, since his relationship with Lady Luck is well-documented. The challenger today is Emp, who seems to be growing in skill and seeks to add a Gym Challenge to his list of wins. Who'll pull out on top? Who knows!

Let's remind ourselves of the arena:

The mall has two wings attached perpendicularly and stores line the sides. The floors are 24 feet wide from store door to store door and the ceiling height of each floor is about 14 feet. The second floor is pretty much walkways, those being about 9 feet wide on both sides with 6 feet wide openings that one can see the first floor from. These openings are broken up every 22 feet by a horizontal 8 foot wide walkway, and they also have 6 foot high railings. The floors of the mall are full of booths regularly spaced out, as well as benches, trash cans, and normal mall related furnishings. Escalators can be found at the ends of each wing and in the middle of the mall between the wings. There is also a set of stairs in the middle area between the two escalators. On the second floor in the middle area is the food court, full of tables, mini restaurant kiosks, and a merry-go-round. The mall has a large variation of stores, some examples being Gamestop, Brookstone, Abercrombie, etc. The stores are up to the ref’s discretion, and they need not delineate exactly which stores are around unless one of the battlers asks or one of the pokemon enters the store. The mall is full of patrons at all times, they don’t mind the battles as they enjoy destruction and are bloodthirsty hooligans. Many of them will probably flock around the battle to watch, and if they are injured as a result they won't mind as it is part of the risk of visiting the mall. The mall is well lit by the indestructible foresight lights cannibalized by the destruction of the Donnybrook Coliseum, and its obviously indoors, meaning no weather. There is a skylight in the middle area above the food court, if broken it can possibly lead to the roof, but the roof is patrolled by vicious guards who especially hate flying Pokemon, they’re armed with copious Pikachus so its not recommended that the challenger attempt to flee up there. Everything is totally destructible and its freaking awesome. Since this is where the Donnybrook Coliseum was the Mall is located in a massive underground cavern. Battles start on the first floor in one of the wings and it is recommended that the referee ref announcer style as though they were on scene following the battle.
A squad from the Leader to start us off, if you'd be so good.

Allons-y

Gallade

Welcome, Empoleon Dynamite, to the illustrious and industrious Donnybrook Shopping Mall! Let's get right now to brass taxes gentlemen.

What do we want?
A badge worth fighting foooorrrr! ~

Badge:
Onslaught Badge
Global Badge
The badge of the Donnybrook Coliseum Shopping Mall, emblazoned with a flaming fist representing justice. This badge is given to trainers who triumphed in the Coliseum Mall, and represents their skill and determination to win in an all out assault.
Badge Effect: Furious Onslaught
This badge allows the wielder to use one additional Three Move Combo in all of their matches.

DONNYBROOK SHOPPING MALL ALPHA ZERO STRIKE FORCE QUANTUM MIGHTY MORPHIN' LIGHTNING STORM AWESOME SQUAD

Rayje-Male Gallade-lvl 4
Rayje and Moody were twins at birth and they excel in battle together. They both focus on different techniques and complement each other exceptionally.
Sig Move (Special Training) Teleporting Fool
Rayje's Teleports take 25% less energy. Rajye is familiar with the Donnybrook Shopping Mall and therefore can teleport between floors despite not being able to see through them. He's Psychic yo, he knows this shit.

Aeneas-Male Blaziken-lvl 4
After watching this video and a lot of Super Smash Bros. Aeneas simply could not handle the epic power of the Falcon Punch and had to learn it himself. He could only perfect a mild version of it, as he is not Captain Falcon.
Sig move (Special Attack) FALCON PUNCH! (Fire)
Aeneas charges up fire energy in his fist and then releases it in a punch of ultimate destruction. Does the damage and takes the energy equal to Full Charge Focus Punch. Essentially its a fire type Focus Punch, however it has all the classy flair a Falcon Punch has. As such it also has a Dynamic Punch element, as it creates a miniature explosion when it connects, which can send the opponent flying. Side effects include death, destruction, and surprise abortion. Once per pokemon.

Spanky-Male Primeape-lvl 4
Spanky was born to some conniving and vile owners who named him Spanky. Since then wherever he went people would hear his name and spank him, thinking they were oh so funny with their little "Spank the Mankey" jokes and whatnot. However, one day, Spanky had enough, and went on a rampage of spanking. Unfortunately for him he lived in Texas at the time, and the Texans did not take kindly to his antics and he was charged with multiple assaults. Unable to overcome the rage inherent in his nature he spanked the Judge to death and earned himself instant execution by electrocution. He resisted being pulled to the chair with all his might, but the Texas outnumbered him and strapped him down. As he raged against society the Texans charged him with high voltage. He screamed and writhed in the chair and finally slumped forward, slightly singed. However mere seconds later he sat up again, electricity crackling in his fur. Surprised the Texans laid into him again with similar effect. They tried it 27 more times, and Spanky survived. After they stopped to marvel at this freakish occurrence Spanky took the opportunity to electocute them with the electricity stored in his body. I’m not entirely sure how he survived all of that, but it has been speculated that some freak gene mutation allows him to conduct electricity harmlessly, or that even his own resilient spirit had something to do with it. Regardless his electrical prowess has become one of his strengths.
Sig Move (Special Training) Electric Type
Spanky has gained Electric type. He is still weak to flying moves and has also learned how to use Thunder Wave.

Susan-Male Lucario-lvl 4
Susan is a large fan of Dragonball Z. He watches the reruns all the time. Yes, he. He developed this move by copying the show a number of times, and it proves to be a devastating technique
Sig Move (Special Attack) KAMEHAMEHA! (Normal)
Susan unleashes the Kamehameha wave, a large blue beam of elite destruction. This move does twice as much damage as hyper beam and takes twice as much energy. Can only be used once per battle and has a large recovery period after it similar to Giga Impact.

Bossa Nova-Male Scrafty-lvl 4
Bossa Nova spits lyrics like a dragon spits fire
Dance with him and you’re bound to retire
You best not be frontin’, don’t give him no flack
Lest he bust up you suckas with a Rap Attack!
Sig Move (Special Attack) Rap Attack
Bossa Nova assaults the foe with his vicious rap skills. The sheer brutality of his lyrical content and rhyming prowess causes the opponent to be so stunned they fall asleep. Science has yet to explain this. This attack is basically Sing, it takes the energy of Sing and can only be used twice per battle.

Poli-Male Poliwrath-lvl 5
Poli is a boss, you can tell by looking at him. He’s got sweet moves and a fly body. He used to run on the Pokeathlon track team, his event was the 4 by 100 meter relay. As such he got adept at passing batons.
Sig Move (Special Attack) Baton Pass
Poli can use Baton Pass.

BRING THE HEAT.
LET'S GET IT!

Good Luck Weebs, not that you'll need it with the evo gap :<

Nacho: Lombre (F) Lv.4
Special Training: Dancin Duck

Through her passion to make more money, the fidgety Mexican neglected her natural movepool in favour of an awesome dance number. As a result of her intense training she has mastered the moves Feather Dance, Petal Dance, Quiver Dance and Dragon Dance. She never learned how to use the moves Astonish, Body Slam, Brick Break, Double Edge, Facade, Frustration, Fury Swipes, Hail, Thief and Hone Claws.

Hentacool: Tentacruel (M) Lv.5
Special Technique: Leaky Tank

Being left out in the sun too long destroyed the majority of Hentacool gelatinous umbrella mass. Tentacool finds it much harder to stay hydrated on dry-land, losing a small fraction of its health at the end of each round. As it loses more health its skin becomes emaciated which makes it easier for him to expel water. Under half health, its water-type attacks do 1.25x damage. Under a quarter health, its water-type attacks do 1.5x damage at the cost of 1.25x energy. These boosts are nullified if Tentacool becomes hydrated through a weather condition or an attack.

Hindenburg: Drifloon (F) Lv.4
Special Move: Fuel Burner (fire)

Hindenburg creates a Will-O-Wisp within its body, filling it with hot air and causing its speed to increase equal to a Dragon Dance. The flame can be easily extinguished through a concentrated water or ice attack, however any fire or flying moves used against Hindenburg will only aggravate the flame giving him an additional speed boost half that of a Dragon Dance every time he is hit by one. The attack takes the energy of one Will-O-Wisp to use.

Cotoise: Lv.4 Male Torkoal
Special Move: Geyser Spray (Wa/Fi)

Foghorn concentrates the smoke that he naturally exhausts into a shot of searing hot steam. The attack is essentially the same as Scald only that it deals significant damage and only has about a 10% chance of burning. It takes significant energy to use, half water and half fire. Living in geyser parks has given him the water reserves to use this move 3 times per battle, but his smoke lacks the impurities for an effective Smog, Clear Smog (ironically) and Toxic.

ADAMWEST: Lv.4 Male Gligar
No Sig

Shiva: Lv.4 Female Meditite
No Sig

"Hindenburg, Lasst uns gehen!"

Round 1: Passing the buck

Thanks Emp! Though I'm pretty sure TA posts preserve the bonus (if they don't then that's retarded), so don't sweat it.

Also damn you for switching - I'd done the status indicator just right as well ;;

Shoppers mill about the Donnybrook Mall, purchasing the latest wares from various outlets, unware that their day of shopping is about to become... more interesting. Heads in the crowd turn and stare as the resident nutjob Gym Leader steps up onto a randomly placed podium, a gap appearing within the throng as they move away from this strange, strange person. Not all are fearful though, one steps onto an opposing podium, eager to challenge this madman awesome guy to a battle! But who will be victorious - Fighting specialist Weebs or tentacle-enthusiast Emp?

The Challenger releases a Pokémon from a line that has caused the Gym Leader much ire over the years, a Drifloon by name of Hindenburg. Weebs responds with a terrible Pokémon with good movepool and typing - Susan, a Lucario who's fan of everything DBZ. Interesting first matchup, and let's see where this goes!

Drifloon is almost always solid, but able to turn ethereal for short periods of time. They are very nimble in the air but light much like Hoppip and can be blown about easily by winds, but in ethereal, they are not influenced by winds or other similar forces. All ghosts fight more enthusiastically at night, though light does not hinder their ability to battle.
See the Ghost Pokémon rules.
Flying Pokémon, with a few exceptions, all fly. Those who cannot are faster and more agile in their chosen mode of transportation.

Lucario: (Fighting/Steel) - Lucario is very sensitive the energies (Aura) of Pokémon. Using a move, Lucario can close its eyes and sense the location of a Pokémon. This can be sustained indefinitely as long as Lucario's eyes are closed.
Fighting Pokémon train extensively, more than any other Pokémon type, which gives them slightly greater endurance and energy.
Steel-types, like Rock-types, have hard bodies and sink in water. While not bothered by water to the degree Rock-types are, they still would rather fight out of the water. Unlike Rock-types, most Steel Pokémon prefer cold temperatures to hot ones.
Susan charges up some of his naturally acquired typing from evolving, silver energy bursting from his paws in the form of a Flash Cannon. The Steel energy impacts on Hindenburg, dealing slightly more damage than normal thanks to the Lucario's evolutionary advantage over his fellow Sinnoh-native. The balloon shrugs off the hit, and his eyes glow as he starts to induce Hypnosis upon the jackal. Susan slumps a bit as the Psychic waves take effect, quickly sending him under for the moment, slumbering away already. Obviously watching characters standing around going 'HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!' and powering up gets boring. Hindenburg seems to think so too, forming a Baton of energy which he swiftly Passes along to a fellow Flying teammate - ADAMWEST the Gligar!

Ground Pokémon are considered to be immune to electricity while standing on the ground. If a Ground Pokémon is in the air, they take 75% the normal damage from electric attacks. If a Ground-type is wet, electric attacks affect it normally (unless the Pokémon is naturally wet/slimy, like Quagsire).
Flying Pokémon, with a few exceptions, all fly. Those who cannot are faster and more agile in their chosen mode of transportation.
Susan took no damage and uses solid energy, fine there, but he is asleep. Hindenburg took a considerable blow and used heavy energy, but will restore a bit of that. He's used his only sleep move. ADAMWEST is fine.

Emp to order.

Well, Gligar can glide/float. Since BP swaps 'mon in the same position and Drifloon was airborne he appeared in midair. So he's sort of doing that anime-floaty thing but is slowly descending. He'll get grounded for EQ though.

Round 2: And then there was typespam

With his opponent incapacitated, ADAMWEST seizes the opportunity to boost up, spinning into a Swords Dance to ramp up his physical strength. Should be useful. Susan sleeps on as the Gligar waits. And waits. Slamming his claws to the ground, the Bug-but-not-really-a-Bug sets off an Earthquake, a fair bit stronger than normal. This rattles shoppers and stands alike, though the building itself stands firm for now. Susan jolts awake, taking a whole boatload of damage from that attack, but is quick to spring into action against his opponent. Coating one fist in Ice, he charges the earthbound Gligar, jabbing with a swift Punch to the thorax, hitting for pretty silly damage all told. ADAMWEST screeches in pain, flapping his wings as Susan preps another Ice Punch. The Gligar dives to the side, trying to evade the brunt of the attack, which mostly succeeds as his wing gets clipped, but it's still a whole lot of pain to his gaping weakness.

Well, someone's stepped on the gas pedal! Both combatants are swiftly approaching half health, Susan holding a moderate lead as ADAMWEST hangs a light way above the midpoint. As for energy, the two are fairly even, both about done with their first quarters. Susan's Ice energy is at half, while ADAMWEST has an attack boost. They're close.

How are we treating Gligar's flight capabilities? Can he fly up into the air, etc?
Just want to make sure before I get silly.

He can get off the ground fairly easily, using a burst of speed and some such to get aloft. Extended flying isn't going to be too common though, if he wants to stay airborne he'll have to start gliding around.

If that makes sense.

Round 3: WATAH POOS!

Cupping his hands, Susan forms a Water Pulse with which to soak his opponent, firing it at the nearby Gligar. ADAMWEST decides to show off his Acrobatics, jumping into the air, though the orb still clips him on the tail, allowing him to strike for solid damage on the Fighter before springing back. Susan puts the attack on repeat, another orb of water forming between his paws, only to be disrupted as the Ground-type Bulldozes the arena, causing much shaking and spilling of products from shelves. The orb is released early and a bit wide, but still strikes the Gligar for good damage. No confusion though.

Health is dropping like a stone, Susan now lightly into his final quarter with ADAMWEST a moderate way above that marker. The Gligar is closer to half energy though, a good way above while Susan holds a considerable lead. Susan's got enough Water energy for a mostly-there Pulse, and ADAMWEST is starting to tire a bit.

Round 4: Oh, Weebs

A little more tired thanks to his boost, ADAMWEST is a little slow in starting up his Hidden Power, but the majority of the orbs of energy clear the tip of the Rock Tomb slabs rising from the tiled floor. Sadly for the Gligar the amount that is caught allows Susan to live by the skin of his teeth, and the structure surrounds him. Without a clean shot, the Ground-type holds off on his next attack, while Susan readies for his signature attack.

"KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA..."

Susan's paws align and open against each other as he aims at the tomb, focusing a ridiculous amount of energy.

"MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE..."

Bringing his hands back to the side of his body, one of the Lucario's arms swivels, cupping his paws as a bright blue orb of energy flares into life between them.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA..."

The surrounding shoppers decide that something very, very bad is about to happen, and start backing away into various other areas of the mall, clearing the vicinity of the two Pokémon.

"MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE..."

The orb of energy now particularly dangerous in size, a drained-looking Susan swings his hands forward, causing it to flare brightly as it collapses into a bright beam, which blasts into the Tomb at point-blank range.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The Tomb is instantly blasted apart, the energy blasting through to punch ADAMWEST out the other side, pushing him through the window of a nearby Waterstones. However, the force of impact causes a small energy explosion at the point of impact with the Tomb, which splashes back to the nearby Susan for some extra damage to himself. ADAMWEST shifts out from under a bookshelf, before going limp, while Susan sinks to one knee. After a few seconds, the Lucario also flops forward, the splash damage having just been too much.

Both ADAMWEST and Susan are unable to battle!

So, a Pokémon from Weebs, followed by Emp's next 'mon and orders, rounded up with Weebs' orders.

Round 5: All change!

It's Spanky's turn to duel! Awesome! Electric monkeys and all that. But also Shiva the Meditite! It's like Gallade but bad!

Fighting Pokémon train extensively, more than any other Pokémon type, which gives them slightly greater endurance and energy.
Electric-types, in general, prefer areas where their Electric attacks are most accurate. Thus, while hot temperatures don’t bother them, the fact that heat refracts electricity doesn’t appeal to them.

Meditite: (Fighting/Psychic) - Meditite meditates constantly, and therefore has a very sharp mind. This makes it far more resistant to mind-altering statuses. Meditate and Calm Mind are slightly more effective.

Psychics can sense their opponent somewhat, making accuracy reducing attacks less effective.
Focusing, the little guru starts to channel her Psychic energy, but a Screech from the Primeape disrupts her concentration, the attack launching early, striking Spanky for some still considerable damage. This doesn't really count as a block, so Shiva fires another Psychic wave, but Spanky tries to dodge using his Acrobatics. The Primeape leaps up, but still gets clipped on the foot for a good blow, before striking his fellow Fighter for some high damage with a Flying-fuelled fist. Shiva cringes at the blow, before the larger Fighter rams her with an aura of Bug engergy, Spanky flipping away and back to his 'ball in a U-turn. Looks like it's time for Rayje to battle his fellow-typed brethren.

Psychics are considered to automatically be familiar with psychic abilities. Thus, they can use Psychic to move and toss Pokémon. If facing a non-Bug, non-Dark opponent, Psychics can sense their opponent somewhat, making accuracy reducing attacks less effective.

Both Spanky and Shiva took a fair bit of damage, already at the end of their first quarters. Spanky used a bit more energy but he'll be restoring, with Bug under half. Shiva's still fine for energy, while Rayje is fresh on all counts. Weebs has used his first Three-mover.

Weebs.
