From what I understand, its somewhat anti-meta. Great against Rain and kills birds.

Current team: Spoiler: show I feel dirty having Garchomp on my team as I've never liked his design and his stupid broken power level back in Gen 4 OU made him an easy target for so much hatred. But I sorely needed an Earthquaker (the last team had none :\) and I saw how popular Garchomp was in the format. Figured, "Why not? :\" I've played two games since your post and have won both of them handily. I opened the first game with Meowstic and Aegislash. My opponents were Poliwrath and Amoongus. Meowstic used Fake Out on Amoongus (NO SPORE FOR YOU!) and Aegislash took a free turn to Swords Dance up. From there, his team quickly fell apart. Swords Dance + Shadow Sneak can become too good once it gets going and Meowstic was relentless with Thunder Wave and screens support. The second game (linked above) opened with Meowstic and Gardevoir squaring off against his Aerodactyl and Garchomp (though he called Garchomp back immediately for Azumarill). I knew that Rock Slide was likely inbound and thus getting a Reflect up pronto took priority over any paralysis or faking out would. Turned out to very much so be the right decision. I may delete Light Screen from Meowstic in favor of some sort of damaging attack. As you can see in this match, once he was done setting up screens and once he ran out of eligible candidates for Thunder Wave paralysis, Meowstic was dead weight that I couldn't risk switching out left the incoming Pokémon be the target for new attacks. Psyshock, Hidden Power, something. But for now, I'm comfortable leaving him as a dedicated utilitymon. Two games in and I'm already above 1100, a personal best for the format. Let's see what a few more games can manage for my score. *crosses fingers*

...why is your Garchomp Modest with 252 Sp.Atk? Was that a C/P mistake?

Ugh I just found that I have a gaping weakness to Mega Manectric. Rotom Heat is a good counter to it but as it stands right now I need Rotom Wash to fight fires and Tyrantiars

Oh whoa, Garchomp's stats are wrong. Thanks for catching that. I WAS WONDERING WHY HE WASN'T DOING SHIT! @_@ Those were Blastoise's stats.
Talonflame's nickname is also incorrect. That's Staraptor's. Has been since 2008, 2009. This is what happens when you edit older creatures' profiles rather than just erasing them and rebuilding from scratch.

>Re: Meowstic
Tell me how that goes if you do replace it. I've been using that exact Meowstic and it's not always easy to suicide it since it's rarely the target of attacks, which leaves me with a next-to-useless Pokémon if my others have been crippled. |

This is exactly the problem I've already had with Meowstic. Have experimented by replacing Fake Out (which rarely sees use outside of crippling Mega Kangaskhan on Turn 1) with Toxic. Hasn't helped much. But yeah. The set of Reflect, Light Screen, Fake Out, and Thunder Wave is damned by enemy Electric types and even the most bare bones savvy of savvy players.
Thinking of replacing Garchomp with Rhyperior. I know he was popular at Worlds 2013 and he'd have STAB on Rock Slide, something Garchomp sorely lacks. Talonflame sucks in my hands yet is God in my enemies' hands. I still don't understand why. Still stuck in the super low 1100s or worse yet the mid to high 1000s. OTL

>Meowstic
Try replacing Light Screen with Psychic/Psyshock. I know you said you were contemplating doing this, but I'd suggest doing it right now. Having a Pokémon that doesn't have any attacks isn't good (mainly because like you said, switching is risky and Fake Out is a one time use). Reflect is easily the more useful of the screens, as it protects you from Earthquake and Rock Slide (as well as Talonflame and any other physical attacker) while Light Screen protects mainly from Surf, Blizzard, Heat Wave, and lava plume. Ultimately, it's up to you, but I don't see the harm in tryin it out. >Rhyperior He's generally used in TR because of his low speed, but go for it if you really want the STAB. I guess he walls Talonflame as well, so that's always nice. |

It's often said that the VGC community is a really warm, loving, healthy, awesome place to be.
What a lovely ambassador I happened across. (VGC 2014, 6 turns) Spoiler: show

I didn't say PS. I said VGC. PS is just a tool. One used not only by the Smogon community but by some in the VGC community as well. I would assume that anyone bothering to play VGC 2014 on Smogon's server either a) is already a part of or else b) wants to become a part of the VGC community. If this guy falls under either one of those two categories, it bodes poorly for the legendary status of the VGC community.
Wherein I get decimated by a gimmick strategy only Doubles can offer. (VGC 2014, I forget how many turns :p) Spoiler: show

I literally stopped the replay halfway through just to post that.
Berry Juice heals nearly all of your HP and is not vulnerable to Bug Bite/Pluck/Unnerve. It is so much better than Sitrus. You should never use Sitrus. Also Dig is awful and Piplup is mediocre. If you -really- want a physical Water, you're better off with Buizel, who is only okay, though he's pretty crazy fast. Litwick is also really marginal and is super outclassed by Missy. |

Yeah Buizel really isn't quite good either. Pretty weak, falls to fluxxin priority, but it is fast enough to run CB.

>implying Berry Juice would still not be better
Also idk the only Water I see with any frequency that's not a Shell Smasher is Chinchou and he's more of a utility/defense pivot than an attacker. |
