Food Guy: Returning Watermelon for a well deserves rest so that he can recuperate, you issue Banane with your instructions before rushing after Graham. Turns out you don't have to go far though, for the boy has managed to trip over a stray branch on the forest floor to land flat on his face.

"How dare you!" he yells, scrambling back to his feet. "How dare you try to attack me you... you... bully!"

You can't help but think he's a hypocrite considering what he's been doing to harmless forest Pokémon, but since it doesn't look like he's going to run now, you turn your attention back to the battle while Graham proceeds to recall his Psyduck.

"Stupid Pokémon," he mutters to the Pokéball now containing Psyduck. "Can't even win against a little acorn. I'll have to replace you with a better Pokémon as soon as I get a chance." He then looks at Geodude and yells, "Defense Curl, Rocky! Then use Tackle and Selfdestruct!"

Banane balks upon hearing the word, 'Selfdestruct', knowing he's going to need to strike fast and hard before his enemy can take him down. Once again coating his leaves in grass energy, he slashes out at Geodude with his razor sharp Leaf Blades, dealing quite significant damage considering Geodude is already toughening up with its Defense Curl. It's getting desperate now, its half hearted attempt at a Tackle dealing very little damage to Banane considering how weak it is now, but when Geodude begins to glow in preparation to blow, Banane doesn't pull any punches, lashing out with one final Leaf Blade, and KO'ing his opponent. Level up for Banane.

Graham yells blue murder, stomping the ground before recalling Geodude, his temper tantrum quite unbecoming for a Pokémon Trainer. He moves to retrieve his slingshot from the forest floor, but before he can scoop it up, Banane steps on it, snapping it and glaring at him with contempt.

"Raaaaar!" Graham yells, racing out of the clearing. "You're gunna pay for this! One day, when you're least expecting it, you and your Pokémon are gunna PAY for messing with Graham the Great!"

You stare after him, so many contemptuous thoughts passing through your mind that you're not even sure where to start, but right now your first priority is to try and do something for the injured Ledyba and Pidgey who have both been injured by the "Great" trainer who has just run off into the forest crying like a schoolgirl...
Karmas expected that he would have had to run a fair bit to catch up to Graham, but to his relief the boy had tripped over on a branch. He screamed out something about Karmas being a bully, but he didn't bother listening because Graham was being one of the biggest hypocrites that he had ever seen. Graham recalled his Psyduck, muttering that he needed to replace it, before he ordered his Geodude to use a combination of moves that ended with a Selfdestruct.

Oh no! thought Karmas as he realized what Graham said.

But Banane knew what he had to do to win. He struck instantly, faster than what Karmas would have expected him to, and slashed Geodude with a Leaf Blade. The move did quite a lot of damage to the Geodude, even though it had used Defense Curl. Geodude gave a half hearted attempt at a Tackle attack, which did very little damage to Banane. But it began to glow, it was getting ready to use Selfdestruct. Banane didn't waste anytime however and struck Geodude with a Leaf Blade. Geodude was quickly knocked out. Graham threw a huge tantrum, stomping his foot on the ground before he returned his other pokemon. But he still wasn't done. He moved towards his slingshot, but Banane slammed his enormous foot down on it, smashing it into different pieces.

"Raaaaar!" Graham yells, racing out of the clearing. "You're gunna pay for this! One day, when you're least expecting it, you and your Pokémon are gunna PAY for messing with Graham the Great!"

Karmas stared at the boy running away before he turned his attention to the two injured pokemon that were in his arms. With great slowness Karmas gently eased Pidgey and Ledyba down onto the ground. He knew that he needed to heal the two so he pulled a pair of Potions out of his backpack and looked down at the two pokemon.

"Okay guys, I have two potions here. They should help with your injuries," explained Karmas.

He the sprayed the contents of the bottle on the pokemon and hoped for the best.

atlantis_kid99: The three ice types appear delighted at the prospect of a friendly battle, and quickly take their places on the sidelines to watch. Seel and Spheal move in closer to the water's edge, while Smoochum plops herself back down on the small outcrop, clapping delightedly. Quickly dismissing the thought of switching Pokémon for this battle although Ember seems the more likely candidate to win, you issue your instructions to Mystic and step back, hoping for the best.

Snorunt starts off quickly with a Powder Snow, the freezing cold spray sending a chill up Mystic's spine. He shivers violently, but promptly retaliates with Confuse Ray that has the desired effect of confusing his opponent. Snorunt frowns, staring back at Mystic with a quizzical expression before looking around the cave and focusing on Spheal who is watching the battle excitedly. The next minute, however, it's the poor little Clap Pokémon who is caught up in Snorunt's Leering gaze, as Snorunt appears to have forgotten who it's supposed to be battling. Mystic uses Snorunt's confusion to his advantage, a dark Shadow Sneaking in on Snorunt from behind to smack it with ghostly energy. Snorunt cries out, both shocked and hurt by the move which snaps it back to attention. The surprise move seems to have knocked its senses back into it for the time being, and it turns around, focusing upon Mystic once again. Spheal is relived that it's no longer mesmerised by Snorunt's gaze, but Seel seems to have found it so amusing that it slaps its playmate with its tail, sending it sailing through the air like a beach ball and right into Smoochum's arms. She giggles with delight, placing her friend onto the outcrop next to her and placing her arms over top of it before returning her attention to the battle.

Neither Snorunt or Mystic are anywhere near done, Snorunt a little miffed at having been so befuddled that it had targeted its friend. It's little eyes fill with steely determination and it waddles forward at a surprisingly fast rate to Bite down hard on Mystic's arm. It's now Mystic's turn to cry out as Snorunt's little teeth dig into his flesh, but he's quick to react by firing off a rainbow coloured beam that has Smoochum "Ooooh"ing in wide-eyed wonder. Mystic's Signal Beam hits Snorunt dead centre, forcing it to release its little jaws from his arm. It drops to the ground, shaking its head whilst trying to figure out what just happened as applause rings throughout the cavern from the three ice types who are well and truly enraptured with this battle. Before either Snorunt or Mystic have a chance to move into the next round, however, you feel the ground start to shake beneath your feet, the tremor feeling unsettlingly close. All six of you fall silent, looking around warily, wondering if it's even safe to continue, but after a few moments Snorunt makes the decision for you, spraying Mystic with another burst of Powder Snow. Though the tremor doesn't seem to be subsiding, it appears this little one isn't too concerned about it, so why should you be?
Thanks for the update Tess, and I'm sorry if my reply seems a bit forced and/or short, it's kind of hard to reply when there's no speech and it's a battle scene =p Still, I tried, hope it's alright. Also, comments and suggestions are very appreciated, thanks alot Tess, again.

Watching the battle unfold, Nikki's past worries were gone as Mystic and Snorunt "sparred" head on. She noted the enraptured and wide-eyed spectators and smiled appreciatively, much entralled herself and wincing at Mystic's cry of pain when the Snorunt's teeth sank into his flesh and oohing mentally along with Snorunt's friends at the pretty rainbow Signal Beam her Ralts had produced. This is fun, the inexperienced trainer thought to herself. Well, as fun as a battle can be. Curiously she watched their comically innocent expressions and actions- it looked like they had been friends for a long time, to be so cheerful and casual around each other, and often the teenage trainer found herself giggling at their antics- in the latest, Spheal had been sent soaring through the air by Seel's tail.

Her mind wandered to the PokeBalls she knew were in her backpack... it was very tempting to catch the little Snorunt but she worried that the Ice types that were its friends would react badly, as happy as they were right now. Besides, the battle had just begun and it could go either way- it was still to early to tell.

While personally Nikki thought Mystic had gotten off to a very good start, they should try something simpler this round- maybe a Confusion or two? Or perhaps a...

Rumble....

All five Pokemon and one trainer present in the cavern fell silent instantaneously, Nikki's thought trail broken, as a very unsettling tremor rattled the ground around them, startlingly close. "Eh...?" Mild panic forced its way in which she promptly stamped on with a mental foot, calming her excessively paranoid mind down, but it was clear the abnormal trembling had unsettled everyone as they looked around warily. What was it, though? A stray Onix? A few Lairon throwing Earthquakes at each other nearby? Or it could even be something within the lake itself. Whatever it was, it was some cause for concern but not enough to start running and screaming in the other direction. Snorunt, after a while, gained back its seemingly permanently happy expression (or maybe it was just that its face made it look happy...) and undeterred, it took the initiative by blowing out a concentrated Powder Snow onto Mystic, chilling him to his bone, the Pokemon in question glancing at his trainer a second time, questions for two courses of action clear in his eyes.

The trainer paused, then spoke up with fresh orders confidently. "You're doing great Mystic, keep it up. Continue with the battle for now but if you see or feel anything such as a rampant Pokemon that could be a threat, don't hesitate to Disable it was well as possible, alright? Otherwise, let's keep things simple with another pretty Signal Beam, followed by a Confusion or two." The Ralts nodded and the battle continued once more, whilst Nikki's own eyes occasionally strayed away, intensely scanning the edges of the rocky walls and surface of the icy lake, before darting back again towards the battle.

Hayward: Coming to the swift conclusion that you have nowhere to run or hide, and that you're at a disadvantage on so many levels you don't even know where to begin, you figure you have no real choice in the matter and resign yourself to the fact you're going to need to battle these thugs and hope for the best. Medeo is no match for Golem on his own, especially taking his level into account, but that doesn't stop your little fighter from putting on a brave face. Machop is definitely in too battered a state to be of much help, or to even be able to get very far should it attempt to escape, so hoping that your gesture of kindness will help to gain its trust you remove a Potion from your pack and start to spray it on the Pokémon's wounds, much to the delight of the troublesome trio who erupt into raucous laughter. Golem snorts, obviously finding the thought of you helping heal Machop to be nothing more than a joke, and a rather desperate one at that, but despite this you ignore all of them until you're finished tending to it. Machop watches you closely, taking in what you've said before its eyes move over to Golem and then to Medeo before back up at you. It nods slightly, though you're not exactly sure if its agreeing to try and escape as you've suggested, or is simply acknowledging the healing treatment you're providing. Leaving the small Superpower Pokémon to make up its own mind you stand tall, taking your place next to Medeo, and face the three men and Golem, doing your best to mentally prepare yourself for the fight of your life.

All this time Medeo has been standing stock still, glaring at his opponent whilst Meditating to help boost his attack power. He's going to need it when the time comes, so he continues to Meditate for as long as possible before taking a defensive standing and starting to Bide his time, a red aura surrounding him while he does so. Golem roars, glad the battle is finally underway so that he can crush his opponent, and crouches down before lurching forward to Tackle Medeo with its full body weight. Medeo takes a massive blow, knocked off his feet while you can do nothing but watch helplessly. Machop's eyes are flitting between the exit and Golem. You can see it wants nothing more than to escape this hell hole, and considering the state you'd found it in can't blame it for wanting to get as far away from here as possible, but when its eyes fall upon Medeo who is struggling back to his feet, bruised but with a look of determination on his face, Machop hesitates. When Medeo does nothing to retaliate, the three brutes snicker between themselves, their gloating expressions infuriating Medeo who is hoping he can survive Golem's next attack, because if he does he knows he'll be able to wipe those smug little smirks off their faces.

Golem snorts, this time angry that Medeo is doing nothing but standing there taking its attacks. It wants some action and decides to have a little fun with Medeo to get him moving, stomping over to the side of the cavern and ripping two large Rocks out of the wall, holding one in each hand before Throwing them at Medeo who still doesn't move an inch. Both rocks ram him dealing quite heavy damage, and Medeo stumbles which seems to affect Machop somewhat who takes a couple of hesitant steps forward, seemingly wanting to do something to help this Pokémon who has come to its defence. Machop stops though, watching in awe while the aura surrounding Medeo changes form, gathering into a little ball of red energy that is hovering over top of his outstretched hand. The three goons suddenly fall silent, and Golem's expression changes from one of sadistic glee to something that resembles, "Oh shit," when Medeo pulls his arm in close before pumping it forward, palm facing Golem. The ball of red energy transforms into a beam that hurtles across the room as his Bided energy is unleashed, smashing Golem right between the eyes which sends it crashing back into the cavern wall with astonishing force.

The impact is so powerful that you feel the earth shaking beneath your feet, but that's the least of your worries as the tremor seems to have done something to damage the mine's structure, and before you know it rocks of all sizes are starting to fall from the ceiling, crashing into the ground around you. Medeo, having used quite a bit of energy, is too slow to move away from one that is falling directly down on top of him, but Machop sees it coming and leaps forward, pushing him out of the way.

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?" the large man screams, panic in his eyes upon witnessing his precious arena in the early stages of destruction.

"It's gunna cave!" yells one of the other men, before both of them turn around and run for the exit.

"GET BACK HERE!" roars the first, his face red with fury as his cronies flee the scene. He turns back to you, pure rage coursing through him.

"You're gunna pay for this, kid," he growls, while rocks continue to fall, even Golem looking around with a concerned expression. It seems to want to get out of here before it becomes a permanent fixture in this death chamber, but its trainer is far too irate to be thinking clearly.

Machop grabs Medeo by the arm, pulling him toward the same tunnel entrance through which you'd entered, looking up at you and pointing at it, signalling for you to run. The one remaining goon seems to have other ideas though, and roars angrily, calling out to Golem.

"STOP THEM!" he yells, his face so red you wouldn't be surprised if he succumbs to a stroke which at this point is a rather inviting thought. "ROLLOUT! BLOCK THE EXIT!"

Golem roars, rolling into a ball and hurling itself across the room. If you don't do something to stop it, and soon, your only chance of escape is going to be lost...

***OOC: WOW!! Just let me say, thanks a ton for another phenomenally exciting update, Tess! Thank you so much for your hard work and time, I really appreciate you trying to keep it fun for us. No offense to any of the other ZOs/Updators, but I'm sure glad us n00bs get you! XD -AJ

Beneath the Silverton Mountain Range, in a colossal chamber that housed a makeshift, underground battle arena, the Meditite Medeo was in bad shape. As he leaned on Machop's muscular shoulder for support with one arm, he clutched his ribcage with the other and grimaced in pain - the after-effects of taking a Golem's TACKLE head on. Ben looked at his little partner - drained of energy, badly bruised, and trying desperately to get a full breath - and feelings of pride and admiration rose within his chest as he thought of how valiantly the Meditite had fought.

* * *

Only moments before, Ben had watched in complete amazement as the crimson glow - emanating from Medeo since the battle's outset - had slowly congealed into a globe of pulsating energy, suspended telekinetically between the Meditite's tiny fingertips. Erupting from the palm of his right hand, it had blazed across the cavern and struck the massive Golem right between the eyes with all the force of a Lairon using EXTREMESPEED.

"That was absolutely brilliant, mate!" Ben had praised his diminutive companion, as Golem was knocked off its feet by the full brunt of Medeo’s unleashed energy and sent crashing into the cavern wall. The impact had been so powerful that Ben momentarily felt the earth shake beneath his feet and almost lost his balance. He didn't have long to worry about the unstable ground though, because at that moment, rocks had begun falling like raindrops from the cavern's quickly crumbling ceiling, shaken loose by the mighty tremor. One such massive roof-piece had been headed directly for the exhausted Medeo, but at the last second, Machop had heroically pushed him out of the way.

* * *

"MEDEO! MACHOP! WE'VE GOT TO GET OUT OF HERE NOW!" Ben hollered over the sound of crashing rocks. Machop was a step ahead of him though, and had already begun staggering to the tunnel, signaling Ben to do the same. Covering his head with his hands, Ben dodged the stony missiles pelting the ground around him, and rushed towards Machop - now half-dragging the wounded Medeo in the direction of the exit. In his current state, a SPLASH from a Magikarp would surely have produced a one-hit knockout on the depleted Meditite, and Ben knew he had no choice but to recall him.

"STOP THEM! ROLLOUT! BLOCK THE EXIT!" The shrieks of the large, angry man commanding his Golem reverberated around the chamber. Unable to think of one good way to stop the rampaging Golem, Ben figured escape was his only option, and he pushed himself to run faster. As he ran, he momentarily chided himself for allowing his friend to face the high-leveled Golem. How could he have been so reckless? How could he have been so arrogant? If anything bad happened to Medeo now, he would never forgive himself. He knew that if they ever got out of this mine alive, he would have to learn how to restrain the eager Meditite in the future. Realizing he still had much to learn about the nuances of battling, he raced on.

He unclipped Medeo's pokeball from his belt and aimed it in the direction of his partner as he ran. "Time. To. Return. Mate." he managed to get out between panting breaths. Not surprisingly, the Meditite resisted, though much less vehemently than usual, weakly shaking his head from side-to-side and feebly showing his palms in opposition. Ben pressed the round trigger switch in the center of the red and white sphere, and a scarlet light engulfed the small Meditite. As Medeo vanished, Ben glimpsed a slight smile of self-satisfaction cross his lips. Medeo had given a good account of himself and he knew he had done all he could. Pride for his small companion swelled inside Ben once again as he reclipped Medeo's pokeball to his belt. "You. Did. Great."

Running up alongside the now unencumbered Machop, Ben scooped it up and slung it onto his back. Fighting off a side-cramp and carrying Machop piggyback-style, the black-clad trainer sprinted towards the tunnel at full speed, wondering how in the world he was ever going to make it to the exit before the careening Golem...

Any suggestions for improvements/changes are appreciated.

arcanumghost: Just a note regarding items used in zones. You'll need to provide a link to anything that you use, including the Pokéball you plan to use.

With anger turning to excitement and Lucy digging through your backpack in search of a Pokéball, the thought of catching Sableye is spurring you on. Relaying your instructions to Adam, you watch with baited breath while he moves into action, taking the deepest breath he can before releasing it in one quick, strong burst, his Gust of wind knocking the ghost type off its feet. Adam takes a moment to gloat over his success looking smugly up at you before turning his gaze back to Sableye whose Leer of anger takes him off-guard. Finding himself unable to move, Adam is too stunned to react quickly enough to perform his next attack before Sableye is back on its feet and rushing toward him, Scratching him hard across his cheek. Insulted, Adam retaliates quickly, using the Earth's Power to exact his revenge. The ground trembles again, mounds of grass and soil erupting in powerful waves that have Sableye struggling to keep its balance. Its eyes take on a ghostly hue, the energy swirling in them powering up for an attack, but Adam sees it coming this time and leaps forward to Bite down with gusto on its arm. An inhuman screech fills the graveyard and you hear Lucy scream, "NO!", turning around to see her clutching your Level Ball in her hand, her eyes big and wide and focused upon Sableye. Apparently seeing the ghost type in so much pain is upsetting the poor child, but in the next instant her eyes open even wider and you turn just in time to notice Sableye swing its arm around, smack Adam into the ground, and strike him with its Night Shade. Adam grunts, air expelled from his lungs due to the sudden blow. He's panting hard now, but so is Sableye who doesn't look like it can put up with much more abuse from your little Ant Pit Pokémon...
Ok! I'm back... and thanks for waiting, if in fact you were waiting for me. Thanks for the reminder too... tell me if I'm doing it wrong. I'll delete the Level Ball from my bag once/if it's used.

Level Ball

Oran Berry

Arcanum's countenance was still filled with excitement as watched his orders being carried out by his pokémon, but he was also very nervous of the outcome and was holding his breath accordingly. Adam had never used Gust before, so he was unsure how well he would perform, but his Trapinch took in a deep breath and let out a whopper of an attack that knocked over the Sableye, just as Arcanum had hoped! Adam turned to Arcanum and beamed at his successful move. Arcanum then watched in horror as Adam returned his eyes to a Leer that he could not avoid. The Sableye used this last attack from the ground, giving him plenty of time to get up and rush towards Adam with another unpleasant Scratch across the nose, a much brighter color than the other that was starting to subside. A second painful mark on the side of Adam's head was going to his head, and as his eyes turned back towards the Sableye, they had been disfigured to express his distinct aggravation. The Sableye begins to charge up energy for another attack, but is soon focusing on where the ground is. The Earth Power shook him violently, and although he kept himself from falling over it gave Adam plenty of time to rush in and sink its powerful jaws in to the Sableye's arm with Bite. Arcanum was suddenly turned completely around, strongly alerted by a shrill scream coming from Lucy's direction. Apparently thought Arcanum, the battle is really upsetting her.... Arcanum's eyes winced at the thought of a followup screech, and then he noticed a distinct change in her eyes... they were even bigger than before and looked both horrifying and horrified at the same time. Turning back to the battle brought about a similar change in Arcanum's eyes - Adam was being struck to the ground by Sableye's Night Shade - and proceeded to make some tired grunting noises that Arcanum had never heard before. He's really tired... I wish I could help him, Arcanum thought.

The next moment he was turned around, sliding in a kneeled position towards the backpack resting at Lucy's feet. Flipping it upside down to empty everything he owned out on the decaying ground, Arcanum snatched the yellow and red drawstring bag and stood up while opening it forcefully. Throwing another small berry to meet the rest of his equipment, he stopped when he had recovered a small, blue Oran Berry from the pouch. Dropping the empty pouch, he glanced at Lucy and snatched the Level Ball she was holding with his remaining hand. Shouting back towards the two combatants while running in Adam's direction, Arcanum said, "Adam! Eat this! Then use another Gust followed by Bite!" It really didn't rely on strategy at this point... if Arcanum could just get Adam a little bit more strength he was sure the ball he held in his hand would soon possess the pokémon that had so quickly possessed Arcanum over the last few minutes. He knelt down with the berry openly accessible so his Trapinch could consume it quickly and return to battle as quickly as possible.

Forest of Adventure - Please reply in limegreen

Food Guy: Now that you've managed to get rid of Graham, who it seems has made himself your rival, you gently place Pidgey and Ledbya down onto the soft grass. Wild Pokémon are watching from the edge of the clearing, some daring to move in closer to watch, while you remove a couple of potions from your pack and proceed to spray them over the injured Ledyba and Pidgey. Banane stands next to you while you sit on the ground for the next few minutes, waiting for the medicine to take effect, and surely enough before long, both Pokémon are feeling a lot better. Pidgey hops up onto your shoulder, rubbing its head against your cheek and giving your earlobe a soft nibble before it squawks its thanks and takes flight, disappearing amidst the canopy of leaves above. Ledyba on the other hand doesn't seem to want to go anywhere and looks around the clearing aimlessly as though wondering what it should do now. It looks up at Banane, admiration in its eyes after witnessing how well its new friend had battled, then looks at you with a hopeful glint in its eye. It appears this little one may have become rather attached to you after all you've done for it. Hmm, whatever will you do?

The Graveyard - Please reply in silver

arcanumghost: Still recovering from that last blow, Adam can't quite suck in enough air to recreate the power of his previous Gust, but does manage to puff out just enough to force Sableye to take a couple of steps back which is all he needs. He hops back to his feet, catches the Oran Berry you throw him, and swallowing it in a single gulp glares hatefully at the ghost type who reaches out to land yet another Scratch, this time to the side of Adam's head. The Darkness Pokémon is quite tired now, and even though Adam is quite drained himself, he has his pride and will not allow this bejewelled puppet to get the better of him. The slight health boost he feels from the Oran Berry allows him just the energy he needs to clamp down hard on Sableye's hand, Biting as hard as he can. While its shrill cry rings out across the graveyard, you toss your Level Ball at the ghost, watching while it's sucked inside and the ball drops to the ground. Adam stands over it, both of you watching with baited breath while it wobbles once... twice... three times, before it stops, the capture light turning green and signalling your successful capture of the Lv.3 female Sableye. Level up for Adam. Lucy springs to her feet, running over while you scoop up the ball, her little eyes filled with concern. "It's... It's not hurt, is it?" she asks, and it suddenly strikes you that all this time it's been the Sableye she was concerned about during the battle rather than Adam. "Do you think it will be my friend?" she continues, looking up at you hopefully...

atlantis_kid99 & Hayward: I'm giving the two of you a special treat. I usually steer clear of double or group adventures in zones as it often causes trouble when one member is waiting upon another to reply before they can be updated, but you two are such good roleplayers, not to mention reliable when it comes to replying, that I've decided to merge your adventures. This isn't something that happens often, so I'm hoping you'll both enjoy the experience. You can strategise via PM if you like, or just bounce off one another's replies, but whatever the case, enjoy! After you've replied, you'll be updated together, so I hope you like this little twist I've woven in for you ^-^

atlantis_kid99 [Part 1]: Though the tremor is making you nervous, Snorunt seems to be well and truly into this battle and takes the initiative by moving it into the next round. There is definitely something going down somewhere nearby, but seeing as you have no real idea of what that could be, or even whether or not it will affect you, you figure you may as well continue with the battle unless something eventuates that will change your current situation. Mystic retaliates to Snorunt's attack by firing off another multicoloured Signal Beam, the pretty rainbow smacking into Snorunt and sending it rolling head over heels backwards. Seel, Smoochum, and Spheal applaud the move when another unsettling rumble shakes the cavern. The initial tremor still hasn't stopped, but this is something else, almost like something very big has fallen resulting in the rumbling becoming even stronger. Snorunt rights itself, proceeding to create two illusionary clones of itself with Double Team, not at all concerned with the tremor. Mystic looks around nervously, concerned about the tremor, but also wondering which of the three Snorunt is the real deal. He fires off a Confuse Ray, the bright wave of light shooting through one of Snorunt's clones and destroying it when a loud, enraged roar echoes throughout the cavern followed by panicked screams and more angry growling. The terrifying sounds are coming from the direction of the entrance through which you'd walked through only minutes before, and it seems that whatever is taking place out there in the old abandoned mine is getting closer - much too close for comfort.

Spheal leaps back into the water to take its place beside Seel whose eyes are locked upon the cavern's entrance, while Smoochum leaps down from the outcrop she's sitting on to take cover behind your legs. Even Snorunt has finally taken notice of the strange goings on, both it and its remaining clone staring at the entrance warily. Mystic has lost interest in the battle, and as you all stand there wondering if you should run or hide, you hear the sound of footsteps running along the tunnel and headed right toward you. The tremor finally subsides, but the sound of angry cursing is echoing through the mines, and a moment later a frightened teenage boy carrying a badly beaten Machop comes rushing headlong into the cavern, skidding to a halt upon seeing you all standing there looking at him. His mind seems to be ticking over and it's obvious he's not quite sure what to do, but after weighing his options it seems he finds all of you far less threatening than whatever it is that's chasing him and rushes into the cavern to join you. A moment later an extremely irate man runs in after him, his face red with fury, and if truth be told a hint of madness, but the most fearsome sight to behold is the Golem that stomps into the cavern right behind him, its rage filled gaze fixed upon the teen and his Machop. Mystic looks confused, but only for a moment. Frightened teen, beaten Machop. Angry man, rabid Golem. He shoots off a Confuse Ray toward Golem in order to attract its attention, and once he has it locks onto its gaze, a faint red hue surrounding the rocky beast as Mystic attempts to buy some time by Disabling it. Please refer to Hayward's update...

Hayward [Part 1]: With Medeo in no state to battle you do the only thing you can for your valiant partner and return him before he can be injured further. Scooping up Machop, you swing the little fighting type onto your back and run for your life, but Golem isn't about to let you escape that easily and is hurtling across the room so quickly that you know there's no way on God's Earth you're going to be able to outrun it. Machop recognises this fact as well, and before you have any chance of stopping it, it leaps from your back and right into Golem's path. The large man is laughing hysterically now, more than a hint of madness in his tone at witnessing Machop's pathetic attempt to stop his Pokémon from allowing you to escape, but Machop isn't stupid. Reckless perhaps, but not stupid. It crouches low, falling back and leaning its body weight into its arms, and just as Golem is about to roll right over top of it, pumps out a Low Kick that sends Golem careening off-course just enough to stop it from lodging itself in the tunnel entrance. Machop didn't get off easily though as its foot now appears to be damaged and so you scoop it up again, running for the exit just as Golem crashes into the cavern wall. The impact damages the mine structure even further and this time whole chunks of the ceiling start caving in as the tremor increases in strength. Rushing through the exit and into the tunnel you spy the two who had fled the scene moments ago turning left at the junction you'd encountered earlier but within seconds you hear a frightening roar followed by hysterical screams and the rather sickening sounds of limbs being torn apart. Making a mental note not to take that path you're debating whether you should continue running straight ahead and out of the mine, or take a right and hope the faint blue light you'd seen earlier leads you to safety, or at least to a safe place to hide.

Machop makes the decision for you, tapping your shoulder and motioning for you to take the right turn, so you follow its lead and race around the corner, the large man's filthy cursing ringing in your ears as he gives chase. You're probably better off taking this path anyway, because if you find yourself out in the open with Golem on your heels then you'll have little chance of escaping the monster, but at least by staying in the mine you'll have a chance of finding a place to take cover. Some chance is better than no chance, and a moment later you run into another large cavern, this one much prettier than the first you'd entered, but it's the sight of seven pairs of eyes staring at you as you burst into the cave that has you skidding to a halt. A teenage girl with a Smoochum peeking out from behind her legs, two Snorunt, a Ralts, Seel, and Spheal are the last things you'd expected to find, and for a moment a flicker of guilt passes through you at having put all of them in the path of danger considering you have a lunatic man and an irate Golem on your tail. You can't turn back though, because if you do you're sure to die, and with there being at least five ice types in front of you who may be able to help you and Machop to defeat Golem, it takes only a second for you to realise that there is safety in numbers and that your best chance of surviving is to team up with these strangers who you're sure would be quite friendly if not for the fact they're quite surprised by your sudden appearance and haven't a clue as to what the hell is going on. Only a second after running forward into the cavern, the man and Golem appear right behind you, both appearing gleeful at the sight of more victims to slaughter, but it appears the little Ralts has quickly figured out which of you is the more threatening, and has already managed to Disable Golem, if only temporarily. Please refer to atlantis_kid's update...

atlantis_kid99 & Hayward [Part 2]: The large, insane man standing at the entrance bellows with rage upon seeing his Golem Disabled, and reaches for his belt. Plucking off one of the Pokéballs attached to it he throws it forward to release a Sandslash, the half starved creature looking more pathetic than threatening. Its eyes are full of hate, but you're unsure if that hate is directed toward you or its trainer because it certainly doesn't afford him a respectful expression when its gaze falls upon him.

"KILL THEM ALL!" the man rages, and even though Sandslash may not appear to like its trainer, it seems it's willing to obey him. It turns toward all of you, its eyes full of hate, and charges forward only to be stopped in its tracks a second later as an Ice Shard shoots straight into its chest. Sandslash roars in agony, all eyes turning to the water to find Seel staring hard at the Mouse Pokémon with quite a hard, irritated expression on its face...

Karmas gently placed Pidgey and Ledyba on the ground, it was safe now that Graham was gone. He sprayed the potions on them, and noticed that the wild pokemon had come even closer to him. As he waited for the medicine to take effect he could feel the ground rumble as Banane walked over next to him. Soon the effects of the potions had taken effect and the pair of pokemon looked, and probably felt, a lot better. The Pidgey jumped up onto Karmas' shoulder, its feet tickling his shoulder, rubbed it head on Karmas' cheek and nibbled his ear before the small bird squawked out a thanks and flew off.

Ledyba on the other hand didn't appear to want to go anywhere, instead it looked up aimlessly up at the sky, as if it were figuring out what to do. The little bug looked at Banane and it obviously had admiration in it eyes for what the pokemon had done to help it and its friend and then it looked Karmas with a hopeful glint in its eye. Karmas realized that the Ledyba seemed to have become attached to him after what he had done for it.

"Alright," said Karmas after looking at the Ledyba's eyes for a moment and caving in to the cuteness.

He pulled out a pokeball and tapped it on Ledyba's head.

atlantis_kid99 [Part 1]: Though the tremor is making you nervous, Snorunt seems to be well and truly into this battle and takes the initiative by moving it into the next round.

^ Epic ^

On the shore of a subterranean lake, in a icy cavern deep in the Silverton Mountain Range, Ben stood just metres away from a blonde-haired girl trainer about his age. He had barged into the serene chamber only moments before and interrupted her private training session. She regarded him coolly, a startled - yet not unfriendly - expression on her face. Knowing that Golem and it’s lunatic trainer were right behind him, Ben momentarily felt guilty for having put the blonde-haired girl in danger, and at once thought about doubling back.

However, as he more closely scanned the chamber with his grey-green eyes, he spied the Pokemon - both in the water and gathered around the girl. He quickly began ticking them off in his head - Ralts, Spheal, Seel, Smoochum, two Snorunts - and his feeling of guilt was instantly replaced by a feeling of sheer relief. “What luck!” he thought to himself, not realizing that all but one of them were wild. “Six pokemon!? All I’ve got is Medeo. This girl can’t be a beginning trainer like me. If she has six Pokemon, she must be some kind of expert! If anyone can help me, I’ll bet she can.” Just as Ben was about to tell her his name and ask her for help, the rampaging Golem and it’s red-faced trainer entered the chamber, roaring and bellowing. If the girl had appeared startled before, Ben thought as he helped Machop off his back and to the ground, she looked completely bewildered now.

At this point however, Ralts nailed Golem with a Confuse Ray, temporarily stunning the massive brute. With things momentarily under control, the blonde-haired girl introduced herself as Nikki, and explained that of all the Pokemon gathered around her, only Ralts was her partner, causing Ben to bolt in surprise. Just as Ben was about to introduce himself for the second time, he was interrupted by an Ice Shard from the direction of the lake that lodged itself in the chest of the rabid Sandslash. Turning to find the origin, Ben spied the chubby white Seel wearing an irritated look. Impressed, Ben smiled and nodded his thanks to the tiny marine pokemon.

At just that moment the Meditite Medeo popped out of his Pokeball. Materializing in a flash of scarlet brilliance, he caused his teenage trainer to bolt in surprise. Apparently, the yoga Pokemon had heard everything that was going on while in his red and white capture capsule, realized that there was about to be some more fighting, and didn’t want to miss out on the action. Freed from his “prison,” Ben’s limber little partner quickly surveyed his surroundings and instantly adopted the defensive kung fu stance known as the Divine Arcanine Defiance. However, since he was still smarting from his earlier injuries, he quickly doubled over in agony, clutching his ribs.

Ignoring the curses of the madman for now, Ben remembered that he had resolved only moments before to reign in the Meditite’s recklessness. He thought this situation provided him the perfect first opportunity and opened his mouth to protest, but was immediately cut short by the look that his diminutive partner gave him. Much to Ben’s astonishment however, it wasn’t the look of recklessness or thrill-seeking that he was accustomed to seeing, but rather the look of one wanting to prove one’s self in spite of seemingly insurmountable odds. Medeo inclined his head in the direction of Golem, before smiling weakly up at Ben, and the Trainer marveled that his friend was the epitome of determination. Ben quickly glanced at the blonde-haired girl and the six Pokemon gathered around them, watching him and awaiting his response. He realized that by leading Golem into this cave he had gotten them all in to this mess, and resigned himself to the fact that he had no choice but to allow the adamant Meditite to battle. Looking at Medeo, he reluctantly nodded his consent. Medeo beamed cheerfully back at him.

But Ben knew that Medeo couldn’t survive many more hits. Thinking hard to come up with a strategy, he dragged his right hand through his short brown hair and decided he would have to rely on the lithe Meditite’s natural agility and maneuverability against their bigger, clumsier opponents. He felt thankful that a Sandstorm wasn't brewing, as it would have no doubt made their present situation much, much worse - activating Sandslash’s Sand Veil ability and making it harder for Medeo to land a hit on the tan desert mouse.

“Ready, mate?” he asked his tiny partner. The steely-eyed Medeo nodded in agreement. “Your first priority is Sandslash. See if you can use some of the icy rocks on the ground to FAKE it OUT. Hopefully it will be too startled to move. Maybe we can buy ourselves a little more time.” Medeo nodded to show that he understood, and Ben continued, “Follow that up with a lightning-quick BULLET PUNCH on Golem. Aim for between the eyes again. We’ll hit it while it’s still DISABLEd and immobilized. Then get out of there fast. You can’t afford to take any more hits like before.” Again, Medeo nodded his understanding. Ben now turned to Machop hoping that it would want to help, and said, “Machop, if Golem retaliates, do you think you could hit it with a LOW KICK like you did in the coliseum, to cover Medeo’s retreat?”

In a wintry cavern, deep within the heart of the Silverton Mountain Range, on the verge of battle, for a brief moment Ben caught the sound of the underground lake’s water as it quietly lapped the shore. It was fleeting though, suddenly drowned out by the primal growls of the emaciated Sandslash and the vulgar taunts of the madman. Ben once again felt guilty that he had disturbed the natural tranquility of the blonde-haired girl’s training grounds. Sorry that he had ruining her training, he glanced over at her and noticed her issuing commands to her Ralts and digging through her backpack. The black-clad trainer held his breath as he watched the small Meditite preparing to strike, and wondered what tricks the blonde-haired girl had up her sleeve…

As the two of us have already said. Epic. =D Lol, sorry if there's any mistakes in my reply as it's a bit too long to proof-read carefully enough. ^^;

Nikki bit her lip anxiously, not for the first time. The tremors seemed to be increasing in size, magnitude and loudness, and presided above all else. Something was definitely not right here. Mystic, as he was very perceptive to thoughts and emotions, wasn't very focused in the battle either, but he continued with the battle anyway very doubtfully, firing off a Signal Beam again, much to the delight of their three spectators, eyes shining in delight at the colourful rainbow beam. Despite that, the trainer's mind was far away from the battle and in any other circumstance, she would have giggled at the comical way the Snorunt rolled head over heels backwards. Not this time. She wondered if she should run or hide- the rumblings and tremblings were getting louder and closer.

She looked back to the place she had walked through almost minutes before- there, it was coming from that direction. Whatever it was, she was sure Mystic could handle it. Unless it was a rabid Golem, or something of that caliber. She shuddered- they were great brutal beasts and not at all to her liking. It was supposed to be her first adventure as a Pokemon trainer, go to Point A, battle a wild Pokemon, catch it, go back. What could go wrong? It was her inexperience that made her edgy, then she calmed herself down a little- since Mystic was so perceptive to her emotions, it wouldn't be very good for him.

Rumble. Boom.

It sounded like... rocks falling? Big rocks falling. A cave-in? Nikki had a slight fear and suspicion it wasn't natural, by any means. How could continuous ground-quaking tremors that increased in magnitude by the minute be natural? Standing there, useless to do anything. The teen hated that feeling with a passion. Snorunt seemed as always, unperturbed as she faintly watched the mock battle continue, Snorunt with eagerness and Mystic with not much enthusiasm- he too was worried. Snorunt had just created a Team of Double clones and Mystic had dissipated one with his Confuse Ray before a distinct, enraged roar echoed through the cavern in the direction of the tremors- startlingly close. Too close for comfort.

Followed by some panicked screams and some fierce growling, Nikki wondered what on earth could be going on down there- and as the anxiety-inducing sounds became louder and more defined, it was also getting closer The battle had halted in its tracks, now, as Snorunt was now on edge like the rest of them, side-by-side with its clone.

Hurriedly, Spheal jumped from its rocky perch to huddle beside Seel who had its eyes locked intensely on the entrance. Smoochum, to Nikki's surprise, jumped down to take cover behind her legs. At a more appropriate time, she would have been touched at how much it already trusted her- wild Pokemon were so interesting in their own way. Then she heard fast, running footsteps that were headed towards her.

Oh my god, Nikki thought. Whatever it is, I don't want to die here. Please don't let me die here. Concerned but wary, Mystic moved protectively in front of his trainer whilst uttering a soft "Ral..." underneath his mushroom cap, the object in question tilting back to let the Ralts make eye contact with his trainer, then lowering again as the Psychic type's gaze returned to the entrance. Then amidst her wildly unrealistic fantasies of what the noises might be were anticlimaxed by the frightened and winded teenage boy that burst out of the cavern then skidded to a small halt upon noting Nikki's presence. Obviously this was unexpected for both of them; Nikki noticed with dread the emaciated and malnourished Machop in his arms- was the poor Pokemon his or a result of another?

To Nikki's surprise, the conflicted expressions on the teen's face (was that guilt she saw?) changed to sheer relief as he stumbled into the cavern to join her. "Huh...?" she thought, and couldn't help give him a mildly condescending look, which vanished when she realised again how much of a scare this boy had gotten. He looked ready to say something when a moment later, an extremely irate man shouting curses every which-way burst into the cavern angrily and behind him, a rabid Golem that was equally enraged. They stopped as well, eyes filling with mad glee at the unexpected inhabitants of the cavern. "Oh my god," Nikki whispered again, biting her lip. Mystic looked confused, if only for a moment. His Disable hit the rampant Pokemon hard and true, after he had gained the Golem's attention with his Confuse Ray.

"Hello..." Nikki said to the black-clad trainer. "My name's Nikki, I guess we'll be helping each other defeat this guy. He looks like a madman..." He probably is, she thought. Rabid Golem, funny I was thinking how much I'd not want to meet one just minutes before. The trainer blinked, touched, when she realised the effort Mystic was making to protect his trainer. Disabling someone obviously took effort. Gesturing vaguely to the Ice types surrounding her and in the water, Nikki added as an afterthought, "These Pokemon aren't mine by the way. They're wild." She raised her voice more confidently than she expected she could manage.

"Mystic, you're doing great, try to hold onto that Disable for as long as possible!" The Ralts nodded ever so slightly, making its trainer feel a whole lot better at what she was asking him to do.

The lunatic in front of their eyes was again further enraged by the fact Mystic had Disabled his Golem, and grasped for another PokeBall at his belt. He hurled it forward to release a Sandslash that looked more malnourished than threatening, but Nikki's blood boiled upon the orders that he gave.

"KILL THEM ALL!" he raged. How dare he! The teen was furious; his own Sandslash was half-dead from malnutrition, and here he was shouting orders like there was no tomorrow. However, it seemed ready to obey the madman's orders as it charged forward only to met by an Ice Shard from the direction of the lake, and her eyes widened at the coldly irritated expression the once-cheerful Seel had gained, showing how much it did not appreciate the antics this man had gotten up to. Nikki noted with surprise that a very respectable Meditite had burst out of its PokeBall and gotten into a battle stance. Its trainer was calling orders.

“Ready, mate?” he said to the Meditite at his side. “Your first priority is Sandslash. Use some of the Powdery Snow on the ground to FAKE it OUT. Hopefully it will be too startled to move. Maybe we can buy ourselves a little more time.” He continued, “Follow that up with a lightning-quick BULLET PUNCH on Golem. Aim for between the eyes again. We’ll hit it while it’s still DISABLEd and immobilized. Then get out of there fast. You can’t afford to take any more hits like before.” The Meditite nodded its understanding, and the teen turned to the Machop that he'd now set down, “Machop, if Golem retaliates, do you think you could hit it with a LOW KICK like you did in the coliseum, to cover Medeo’s retreat?”

"Huh, nice strategy there," Nikki said appreciatively. Since they were both in the same boat, what with the murderous and temporarily subdued Sandslash and Golem out to kill them, they should work together. She had an idea, but was worried that the Meditite, who looked already bruised, wouldn't be able to take many hits. "Wait!" she called to the Meditite and his trainer. "I think I might have something for your Meditite." Quickly rummaging through her backpack, she pulled out three Potions from its contents and handed two over to the black-clad trainer. "Your Meditite needs this more than Mystic does, they should help with its injuries a little. No need to thank me, we're going to need all the help we can get if we're going to get out of this one alive." She turned and sprayed the last remaining Potion on her Ralts to cure the injuries it had received from its minor spar with the Snorunt.

"Alright Mystic! Try to hold the Disable long enough for this person's Meditite to get in a hit with its Bullet Punch if you can, then let's try some action of our own! Blizzard that Sandslash, then follow with a Confusion to the Golem to mess with its head a little, then Confuse Ray if you or Meditite are in any imminent danger of getting attacked. We're going to work together, okay?"

She paused, then looked back with a cold glare at the red-faced madman. "Oh, don't hesitate to give him a Confuse Ray or so if he tries anything. I'll be happy if it gives him so much as a headache."

With a decidedly kinder expression, she turned to the Snorunt and Smoochum surrounding her, giving them a gentle smile. "I'd really appreciate it if you could either help out with the battle or keep an eye on that madman over there; if he tries to run please try to stop him. It's up to you, I'd understand if you don't want to." She gave an extra wistful glance at the Snorunt- Nikki would love to have the energetic Snow Hat Pokemon on her team, but now was not the time.

Finishing up her words, she bit her lip for the hundredth time and watched the life-or-death battle unfold. I'm counting on you, Mystic, Nikki thought. Please don't die.

Forest of Adventure - Please reply in limegreen

Food Guy: Looking into Ledyba's hopeful gaze, your heart melts. It is a cute little thing, and it's not like you don't have the space on your team to accommodate it. With some careful training, and a lot of love, this little one may one day become quite a powerful Ledian. And it is very cute... It doesn't take long for you to make your decision, and without thinking twice about it remove an empty Pokéball from your pack. Ledyba's eyes light up with joy when it realises what you're about to do and it hops a few paces closer, welcoming the warmth surrounding it as the capture beam erupts from the ball and sucks it inside. With no struggle taking place, the ball's capture light turns green in an instant, signalling your successful capture of the Level 4 female Ledyba. The ball bursts open a moment later, Ledyba flying out of it and straight into your arms to show you just how happy she is about becoming the newest member of your team. She rubs her little face against your cheek and then flies up to sit on Banane's head, pointing into the forest with an accompanying excited exclamation. "Ledy!" she cries, excited to get started on her brand new adventures with a caring trainer and new friend...

You've done so much better this time around, so upon replying to your update you're free to leave the Arcane Realm to venture in main zones. Ledyba's capture has unlocked your rights to the Egg House, so good luck and keep up the good work ^-^.

atlantis_kid99 & Hayward: Your initial feelings of confusion are soon replaced with a mixture of rage and anxiety as your self preservation instincts kick into gear. You both have low levelled Pokémon, and are faced with a raging lunatic hell bent on killing you with two fully evolved monsters who appear ready and willing to carry out his insane orders. Though you both feel the need to explain yourselves to the other, the immediate threat far outweighs your desire to become better acquainted and you realise you're going to need to pull some pretty spectacular magic out of somewhere if you're going to live to tell this tale to anyone let alone each other. While Nikki is far too furious with the madman's lethal instructions to Sandslash to notice Ben's admiring glances, Ben realises he's going to need to prove himself here in front of an experienced, not to mention rather attractive, trainer. There's no need though, for Nikki and her companions have already come to the swift conclusion that he's not the enemy, and are already moving into battle positions to help defend not only him, but themselves.

Mystic is starting to sweat, the strain of keeping Golem Disabled beginning to take its toll on the little Ralts who hasn't even completed his first battle yet let alone ever attempted to restrain a fully evolved Pokémon. Medeo can hear the commotion from the confines of his Pokéball, and not wanting to let his trainer fight this battle alone, bursts free to appear on the field, immediately assuming a battle stance. Nikki's eyes widen at seeing the state Meditite is in, and though impressed with the little fighter's bravado, is more concerned for its well-being. Machop, now standing beside Ben, is also in no state to battle, and while it eyes the trainers and Pokémon surrounding it with pure bewilderment, wondering how on earth its ordeal has progressed to this stage, Nikki rummages through her pack to remove three potions, tossing two of them to Ben before administering the third to Mystic who can do with all the help he can get for the upcoming battle.

While Sandslash is clawing at its chest trying to extract the Ice Shard lodged there, its agonised roars echoing throughout the mines extensive underground tunnels, Medeo doesn't waste any time rushing away from Ben before he can be healed to land a hit to the ground type's head, his Fake Out startling Sandslash to the point of complete bewilderment. It stops scratching at itself, staring at Medeo in stunned surprise as the little fighter shoots off to the side to take full advantage of Golem's temporary inability to move and slams his steel charged fist right into the soft spot between its eyes, his Bullet Punch snapping the Rock Pokémon's head back resulting in two more enraged roars filling the cavern - one from Golem and the other from its trainer. Medeo leaps to the ground and hightails it back to his trainers side before either Sandslash or Golem can retaliate while Nikki's eyes focus upon Sandslash. Ben discards the first empty potion bottle which he's just used on Machop, hastily applying the second to Medeo before his feisty little partner can escape his clutches and return to the battle.

Sandslash shakes its head, returning to its senses, and with a deafening roar starts to Rapidly Spin en route to Ben and Medeo who are blissfully unaware of its approach until it's too late. Sandslash rips between them at high speed sending them flying back in opposite directions, both human and Pokémon injured by Sandslash's spiky hide as well as the force of impact and resulting painful landing on the icy rocks by the lake. Just as the two are regaining their feet, Ben bleeding from a gash to his temple and Medeo suffering several cuts and grazes, Mystic finally releases his hold on Golem, unable to keep the Disable going any longer which finally leaves the enraged rock type free to attack. Golem bellows blue murder, several large Rocks Blasting across the field and causing everyone to scatter before they can be crushed by them. Snorunt unfortunately isn't quick enough to evade one of them, and is doubly unlucky to have its real self hit rather than its clone which dissipates as soon as the real Snorunt is struck. A pained squeak pierces the air, and as Smoochum races over to see to her friend, finds herself at Sandslash's mercy, its lethal claws Slashing across her right shoulder. She screams and backs away from it, her eyes large, round, and terrified, while Sandslash grins evilly at her, slowly moving in to finish her off when a freezing cold gush of ice and snow suddenly bursts out of nowhere, washing over it and giving it a bad case of the chills. Mystic's Blizzard has saved her this time, but the little Ralts is looking rather worn out, his energy levels quite low after he had first strained himself to Disable Golem and then perform and attack he's not naturally aligned with.

Seeing its teammate injured, Golem charges forward to exact its revenge when Machop leaps into action. The little fighting type is guilt ridden at having caused so much trouble. The male trainer had been caught trying to free it from its prison, and had then proceeded to defend it despite the fact he knew he couldn't win. Now the female trainer and her friends are in danger, and all of this is happening because it had been the one who would be dead now if it weren't for these people. Machop can't stand it and runs kamikaze style at Golem with a rage filled yell, aiming a Low Kick with its good leg at the rocky beast's legs and tripping it over. Golem rolls across the ground for a few metres, but before it can regain its feet Machop is on top of it, and with a warlike cry Karate Chops it to the back of the head. It falls backward, crushing Machop beneath it as its huge body rolls over top of the little fighting Pokémon who now looks like it might have a few broken ribs and a broken arm to add to its multitude of other wounds. You're both horrified as you realise Machop is going to need a lot more than a couple of potions to heal it now.

Medeo sees red and starts running toward Golem who is struggling back to its feet but is stopped when Mystic's Confusion zips past him. The pretty pale blue beam of energy strikes Golem in the head and causes it to stumble again while Sandslash has its sights set on Mystic for having chilled it to its core. Patches of ice have formed on Sandslash's body, the freezing sensation like a thousand small needles of pain piercing its skin which is causing it to want to make this little cretin pay for what it's done. Seal and Spheal move into action though, Seel's Aurora Beam striking Sandslash in the back and making it howl blue murder, while Spheal's Water Gun drenches Golem, the combined pained roars of the two Pokémon echoing through miles of underground tunnel. Their trainer is livid and curses up a storm, the string of profanities so vulgar that all you can do is glare at him with contempt, but when he reaches for his belt to pluck off yet another Pokéball, Mystic puts an immediate stop to it, firing off a Confuse Ray that screws with his head. He stumbles, banging his head on the wall and knocking himself out in the process. With there being no danger of him releasing yet another rabid Pokémon into the mix, which is at least some relief, you still need to deal with the two who are not giving up in their attempts to kill you, your Pokémon, and your new-found friends...

Karmas felt something in his heart melt when he saw Ledyba's expression as he pulled out his pokeball. She was so happy that she in fact ran forward to Karmas, who then softly tapped her head with the pokeball. The capture light instantly turned green, because Ledyba had no intentions of breaking free. Just moments later Ledyba broke out of her pokeball and flew into Karmas' arms, rubbing her head against Karmas' in delight.

"It's alright girl," thanked Karmas as he pried Ledyba from his face.

Ledyba gave Karmas a huge smile before she flew up to Banane's head, and promptly sat down, much to the dinosaur's dismay.

"We need to give you a name don't we?" Karmas asked Ledyba as they walked out of teh Arcane Realm. "How about Beedle or Shelly or, um, Dot?"

Ledyba didn't show much interest in the first two names, but she became quite excited when Karmas suggested Dot.

"Well, then you're now Dot!" exclaimed Karmas

I just want to say thanks for the amazing journey enchantress.

Thanks for the immensely speedy update Tess ^^

Things were going too fast, much too fast.

Whilst Sandslash clawed agonisingly at its chest to remove the Ice Shard Seel had impaled it with, the Meditite belonging to the boy teen next to her had joined the fray dazzlingly fast, Faking the porcupine-esque Pokemon Out before continuing on to the Disabled Golem with a hard-hitting Bullet Punch between the eyes. Nikki's eyes were wide, and she was very glad that for the moment it was restrained by her Ralts- the move might restrain one's movement but it definitely did not restrain one's voice, clearly evident when a bone-chillingly ferocious roar echoed through the cavern. She considered turning tail and running, but the trainer stayed firm as one, the exit was blocked by two murderous Pokemon. Two, she would finish what she had started- this man had already caused enough damage and harm to innocent bystanders.

Sandslash's hate and anger suddenly reignited in its eyes, having recovered from the startling blow the Meditite had given it, and curled into a ball in a Rapid Spinning motion, flying towards the Fighting-Psychic type and its trainer in revenge. Nikki's hand flew to her mouth as she stepped back fearfully. "Watch out!" she called, the sound choking itself halfway out her mouth.

She winced, wide-eyed, at the way they were bowled over through the middle, flying in opposite directions to impact heavily on the ice-sheeted rocks scattered throughout. "Oh my god, are you alright?" she mouthed, running towards the boy teen, as she noticed blood running freely from a gash in his temple. The girl turned back to the battle quickly after, to notice Mystic, after all this time, finally releasing his long hold on the incapacitated Golem, exhausted and panting at the effort. Nikki was instantly flooded with guilt at the tough orders she had given him- Disable was only a move he had learned recently, and he wasn't a high enough level to use it for so long and on such a strong opponent yet, but he had.

"I'm so sorry Mystic, I shouldn't have made you done that..." she was muttering over and over as she regained her old place on the rocky floors of the cavern. "Just try to hang in there and we'll be alright, I promise." But soon, another enraged roar that made her ears and head hurt after so many in succession rang throughout the cavern and tunnels beyond, as Golem, now with unrestricted movement, decided to unleash his pent-up anger by sending Rocks Blasting everywhere, causing all present in the cavern to either duck or run out of harm's way. But one small cry was enough to make Nikki's head turn, as Snorunt was unlucky enough, with his too-small feet, to meet one of the rocks head-on. Smoochum, eyes wide and anxious, rushed over to the cone-shaped Pokemon that was its friend, only to have pain and sheer terror added into the mix of expressions when lethal claws Slashed her right shoulder very badly. The offending Sandslash grinned manically as it raised its claws, moving in for the kill whilst the Kiss Pokemon screamed and backed away.

Yes, things were going much, much too fast.

A Blizzard of ice and snow along with a weak but assuring telepathic nudge, the freezing torrent this time non-decorative, blasted from Mystic's direction to chill the Sandslash to the bone, disrupting it from its previous killing intent and exposing it to the sub-zero temperatures normally found in a real blizzard. However, things weren't looking so great for the dimunitive Ralts, Nikki noted in concern, as his laboured breathing and beads of sweat were clearly visible on his forehead and face along with a smile of satisfaction at his handiwork, and he nodded in a small grin towards the Smoochum he had just possibly saved from a nasty death.

Mystic's trainer let out a big long sigh she didn't even know she was holding, relieved at the immediate safety of the Smoochum- but she was very worried about the Feeling Pokemon's energy reserves (or lack thereof). He would need to conserve his breath and energy so he could keep conscious. Unfortunately the Smoochum's safety didn't last long, as Golem growled with revenge clear in its eyes and lumbered forward to avenge his partner. Machop, forgotten to the female teen until now, leapt forward with a pained expression - whether it was from the pain in his foot or guilt Nikki didn't know - and Low Kicked at the mostly spherical Pokemon and causing the ferocious beast to trip and roll like Snorunt had previously. Nikki stared as Machop continued on to solidly Karate Chop Golem on the head. Bad choice- she uttered a soft cry as Machop was crushed painfully as the stone golem in all his six hundred and sixty two pound glory squashed him flat as he fell over backward.

"Nikki winced" would have been an understatement.

Meditite ran forward, intending to help his fallen comrade, but Mystic's Confusion was faster to make it towards their common target- disorienting him yet again. The constant threat Sandslash posed was again evident as the bloodlust and vengeance in its gaze had not been fulfilled as it came forward with patches of ice covering its body. It's frozen, Nikki thought with hope and wonder. There might be a chance for us after all. Thank God, Mystic, you've really done a great job this time.

The Ralts in question was still breathing heavily, at first panicked at the sight of the Ground-type then became strangely calm. The trainer was confused, then realised why- Sandslash was stopped in its tracks for what was most likely the fourth time so far, courtesy to the shimmering blue Beam Seel's Aurora-like attack. It was followed with the chubby Spheal's Water Gun towards Golem, and Nikki couldn't help but wonder at their determination in this- which was quickly replaced with guilt at the fact that she was doing nothing but stand by and watch.

The two final-evolution Pokemon roared again, an ear-splitting sound of anger and pain that made her have to cover her ears. "At this rate, there's going to be a rockslide soon..." she mumbled. Then she shut up- last time she had made a sarcastic remark ("I hope it's not a rabid Golem, or we're screwed"...), it had come true. Not this time, maybe. The lunatic who was responsible for all this mess, Nikki had assumed he had just sat back and enjoyed the show all this time. Now he was livid, reaching for a third PokeBall on his belt roughly. "Oh ****." was all that came out of her mouth; of course one word was no match for the madman's own spiteful profanities.

The Confuse Ray her mushroom-capped Pokemon fired did what the stereotype said it was meant to do, and more. He was instantly disoriented and more than just "drunk", stumbling around and knocking himself out with a rock wall to the forehead.

"That felt good," she grinned for the first time in what seemed like ages. But there was still two lunatic Pokemon and one exhausted Mystic to take note of, and it was her turn to do what Mystic expected her to do- strategising. It would have been great if he knew a move like Helping Hand so he could just relax for a bit, but he had been sent to the Move Tutor without double battles or perilous situations in mind. Now was a time for her Ralts to regain his breath, to avoid any unconsciousness that might result from already excessive overuse of energy. If need be... she fingered the PokeBall on her belt that contained her Ponyta. She was still young and inexperienced, which was the reason that Ember had not been used up until now. But she was definitely a good substitute if Mystic needed time-out time, what with her Hypnosis and all.

"Mystic! Conserve your energy as much as possible this round, neither I nor you want you fainting on me; you've done a spectacular job so far and I'm proud of you. How about a Confuse Ray on Sandslash and Golem apiece, otherwise Teleport the heck out of there if the going gets rough." the trainer smiled gratefully. "Keep it up, I can send out Ember as a replacement if it's too much for you- you've been such an invaluable help in this battle I can't begin to start."

Looking over to the teenage boy with the injury to his forehead, she also added, "I think it's your and your Meditite's time to shine now, my Ralts seriously needs some rest and you have Seel, Spheal, and possibly Smoochum and Snorunt to back you up. Here's hoping we'll get out of this one alive." With the brutish madman out of the picture, things were slightly more optimistic now.

Ben stood up and gingerly rubbed his forehead with his right hand. Slightly dazed, he could only just make out the form of the blonde-haired girl running in his direction. He nodded when she asked if he was alright. Ignoring the warm blood he felt trickling down the side of his face, he scanned the icy cavern with his grey-green eyes. Bellowing mightily, Golem suddenly let fly with a furious Blast of Rocks, causing Ben to duck and cover his head. The Blasted Rocks struck the two Snorunt, causing one to disappear. Ben bolted in surprise as he realized that one had been a clone all along and was probably the result of the Snow Hat Pokemon’s Double Team technique. Golem’s assualt was quickly followed by Sandslash’s violent attack on the vulnerable Smoochum. The tan desert mouse cruelly struck the shoulder of the little Psychic Pokemon once, and was about to strike again when it was thwarted by a timely Blizzard from the blonde-haired girl’s Ralts. Seeing Smoochum spared greater harm, Ben let out a momentary sigh of relief.

Machop suddenly went after Golem, tripping it first with a Low Kick. As the quarter-tonne monster rose to its feet, Machop jumped onto its back, and Karate Chopped its head. Judging by the way the Boulder Pokemon’s eyes slowly rolled back in its head, the hit must have been a good one. From the shore of the icy lake, Ben and Medeo let out a loud cheer for Machop and danced around. Unfortunately for the Superpower Pokemon, the great rock titan tottered and fell backwards. Before Machop could react, it was crushed under Golem’s massive bulk.

Concern for the muscular fighter flooded Ben. The moment Machop attacked Golem he knew that now it was wasn’t just fighting for its own life, but all of theirs, even as they had fought for it. If Machop had wanted to escape, Ben reasoned it surely would have done so while Golem and Sandslash were immobilized earlier. Ben wouldn’t have blamed it one bit either, considering how it had been treated, but he was glad that it had stayed to fight. Having only met recently, Ben hardly knew anything about Machop, but in light of all they had been through together in that short time, Ben felt like there was already a bond of friendship beginning to form.

Since the moment Medeo had met Machop - bruised and battered in the prison, but refusing to give up - he had considered it a kindred spirit. Seeing the little brawler now in distress, Medeo gave a shout and raced headlong towards the rising Golem, causing Ben to bolt with shock again. Clearly the Yoga Pokemon shared his trainer’s concern. A dim azure beam of Confusion, delivered by the blonde-haired girl’s Ralts, however beat the tiny Meditite to the enormous stone brute, and stuck it in the head. In retaliation, Sandslash immediately went after Ralts, only to be stopped by Seel’s Aurora Beam, frozen in it‘s tracks. The chubby Spheal followed its aquatic kin’s lead and turned on Golem, soaking it to the core with a Water Gun attack.

Ben gaped as the lunatic, angry that nobody had died and looking to speed the process along, reached for another Pokeball. However, the blonde-haired girl quickly ordered a Confuse Ray from her Ralts before he could call forth its wretched inhabitant. The lunatic’s evil plans once again hindered, Ben breathed another sigh of relief.

* * *

The blonde-haired girl spoke her commands to her Ralts then turned to Ben. "I think it's your and your Meditite's time to shine now, my Ralts seriously needs some rest and you have Seel, Spheal, and possibly Smoochum and Snorunt to back you up. Here's hoping we'll get out of this one alive." Ben nodded, completely agreeing with her last statement.

Rubbing his right hand through his short brown hair, he thought hard to come up with a plan. Covered only in minor cuts and scrapes, Medeo was in pretty good shape compared to some of the other Pokemon in the chamber. He didn’t seem tired, and it appeared the blonde-haired girl’s potion had done the trick. Ben knew his little companion was under-leveled, but hoped his pure power ability would enable him to hold out a bit longer. “Alright, mate,” he began. “MEDITATE until you see the Confuse Rays land, then hit Sandslash with an ICE PUNCH and Golem with a BULLET PUNCH.” The loyal Meditite coolly nodded his understanding while Ben turned his gaze to the badly injured Machop, lying on the ground like a toppled statue, and said, “I’m going to help our friend.”

Having issued instructions to his diminutive partner, Ben was about to head off in Machop’s direction when a thought came to him - he still hadn’t introduced himself to the blonde-haired girl. Ignoring the brutal roars of the two fully evolved Pokemon, he did now what he tried to do earlier. “Nikki, right? And Mystic?” he asked turning to the teenage trainer and her Ralts. Complimenting the Feeling Pokemon on its hard work he said, “Well done, mate.” He continued, “I’m Ben and that’s Medeo.” Ben inclined his still-bleeding head in the direction of his partner. Medeo smiled calmly, but never took his watchful eyes off their enemies or relaxed his Double Steelix Wall defensive stance. Ben thanked Nikki for the potions and added apologetically, "I’m sorry we got you in to this mess.”

Unsure how much longer the lunatic would be out, the black-clad Trainer prepared to head off in the direction off the fallen Machop. Ben knew his path would take him dangerously close to the irate Golem and Sandslash. "Watch for feet and claws," he told himself. Timing would be everything - he hoped he could rescue Machop while the two vicious creatures were preoccupied. Unable to tell if the Superpower Pokemon was even breathing, he only hoped it wasn’t too late…

Geenween: More concerned for the man's health than being compensated for helping him, you're quick to ask if there's anyone you can call for help, but he simply shakes his head, struggling to his feet with Arcanine's help and wincing as pain shoots through him.

"I'll be alright," he smiles, trying to put on a brave face despite his obvious pain. "Lucky I managed to fix the fuel leak just before the jack gave out. I'll just drive meself into town, have to go into Oatley anyway to drop off the puppies." He walks around to the back of the truck from where you can still hear frightened whimpers, the prior panicked barking you'd heard having now died down, and when he lifts the protective sheet covering a basket sitting in the back of the truck, you find three adorable little pairs of brown eyes staring up at you. Arcanine leaps into the back of the truck to start licking their little heads, the three tiny Growlithe quickly soothed thanks to their mother's affectionate reassurance.

"August here belongs to a lady in town, but the family has been busy with relatives the past few months and asked me to look after her. Not too sure what they're gonna think about old Shadow knocking her up, but I guess I'll find out today..."

He scratches his head, looking rather concerned when you hear a familiar sounding growl behind you. Spinning around, you find the same Poochyena you'd seen in the truck earlier as well as a Mightyena standing in the doorway watching you. The Mightyena trots forward and sniffs you, Lotad, and Edna curiously before making its way over to Arcanine and the puppies, affectionately rubbing his head against Arcanine and the little Growlithe. Poochyena, on the other hand, doesn't seem so friendly and continues growling its warning to back off.

"Don't worry about Butch, there. He's quite a protective little fella and doesn't like strangers sniffing around the pups," the man laughs upon noting the wariness in your eyes. "He's really a playful, happy-go-lucky little guy."

You're not so certain about that, and are sure to keep a close eye on it anyway, but when the man moves away from the truck, wincing again and drawing in a short breath as another jolt of pain shoots through him, Poochyena lets down its guard and rushes over to him, quite obviously concerned for his trainer.

"There, there, Butch. Everything will be ok." the man says gently. "The little lady here helped me out today. Would have ended up flat as a pancake if she'd not lifted the truck off of me when that rusty old jack slipped out."

Poochyena looks up at you again, this time with a much friendlier expression before trotting over and licking your hand. It then proceeds to wander over to Edna and Lotad who have been watching the entire exchange with rapt curiosity, and quickly befriends the two. The man laughs, causing yet another jolt of pain to result in a low hiss escaping his lips.

"Better get meself in to see that doctor," he says quietly. "I'm Ralph, by the way," he continues, extending his hand to shake yours. "And you've met August, Shadow, and Butch. Haven't named the puppies yet cuz I don't really own them till I've had a talk with Liz. August is her Pokémon so she has equal ownership over the puppies which is something we'll need to sort out today." That same concerned expression enters his eyes as they fall upon August and Shadow who are gently nuzzling their three little offpring. "Not sure she'll want half breeds..." he murmurs, more to himself than to you.

"So how about that ride?" he asks with a smile, turning his full attention back to you. "It's a long drive, and we can use the company..."

Geenween couldn't refuse the offer at that point: the man was clearly injured, and though she was worried about how he could drive safely in his conditions, leaving him alone was going to be plain irresponsible from her. If she couldn't get a doctor in that lost place, she had at least to make sure he was going to arrive where his wounds could be taken care of. She nodded at the man, defeated: sometime she thought that sense of responsibilty of hers to be a real pain. Although, she was sure she couldn't change that trait of hers either, not in a million years: she was destined to remain a 'I-worry-too-much' person.

"Be careful please, there's not haste if you are in pain." she recommened in a small voice, climbing to the passenger seat. It wasn't her place to decide where Lotad placed himself, but as for Edna, she seemed far too interested in the other Pokemon, especially the pups, to climb next to her. Unless the other Pokemon decided otherwise, she was going to ride close to the litter, seemingly.

"I hope it's not a problem for you," she told the man and, even if not in a direct way, to his Pokemon; after all, there were the pups parents around her. "She's a very curious girl, but she's nice and won't hurt them." Then, to start some sort of converstation to ease the nervousness she was feeling, she picked the last subject her new acquatince had touched. "Why the Arcanine's owner should refuse them? I thought cross-breeding was good for the egg moves and the pups look like the mother anyway."

arcanumghost: Still recovering from that last blow, Adam can't quite suck in enough air to recreate the power of his previous Gust, but does manage to puff out just enough to force Sableye to take a couple of steps back which is all he needs.
Adam stubby legs shook violently as he struggled to return to his feet. He was breathing very heavily now, and one of his eyes was winced shut while the other was focused angrily on the Sableye who was also heaving to get air in to his lungs. Adam doesn't straighten his legs and instead doubles his heavy breathing for a few breaths before holding his breath and firing the Gust in Sableye's direction. The Sableye looks away and takes a few steps back, but the attack isn't serious enough to actually hurt the pokémon.

Adam musters up the gusto to hop back up, lock his legs and turn his eyes to his trainer. With a soft, underhand throw that revealed Arcanum's inability to throw, the young trainer tossed the Oran Berry in the Trapinch's direction. His body followed the berry nervously, and he let out a weak grunt of effort as he rose. He probably couldn't have thrown it as well as he did if he had been able to try 10 more times - the berry had landed directly in Adam's mouth with only minimal neck strain to meet it. "Yes!" Arcanum exclaimed, absolutely thrilled with the current success of his new plan. An audible gulp sounded from Adam's throat as he tilted his head back and downed the relieving fruit faster than Arcanum had thrown it. Adam's body shimmered as the marks on his face lost their red color and the visible signs of pain vanished from his expression. Fresh marks appeared a moment later though, as by now a midnight purple hand was flowing swiftly across the Ant Pit Pokémon's cheek.

His anger over being Scratched so quickly after being healed transformed his face more completely than the parallel lines on the side of Adam's head. Almost too quickly to see, Adam had lunged forward and clamped his powerful jaws, Biting the Sableye and grinding his teeth to make it hurt as much as possible. As it let out a blood-curdling "Saaaaaaaayyyyyyy," Arcanum made his move. Taking a few quickened steps to make this throw easier than the last, he tossed the Level Ball right in to Sableye's chest. His color changed to red as the shape changed in to a swirl of energy getting sucked quickly in to the shape of a ball that was soon thereafter contained within the mechanical ball. A red dot appeared on the ball, the brightest thing in sight, and rolled around in the grass. Adam dropped from his "standing" position and joined Arcanum in bending over the ball. Arcanum's eyes were filled with wonder as he observed the first fight for freedom he'd ever seen. The harsh light subsided after a few violent rolls, the ball standing now completely still. Any fatigue in either the pokémon or the trainer vanished as they leaped and laughed. Arcanum scooped up Adam in to his arms and hugged him tightly. "We caught a pokémon! We did it!! You were amazing Adam," he exclaimed as the Trapinch barked, "Pinch! Pinch!" joyously in response back at Arcanum. Arcanum put Adam down and picked up the ball he had just used, inspecting it proudly.

Lucy had bounced over and was looking at the ball at eye-level. "It's... It's not hurt, is it?" she asked him. Arcanum realized that Lucy hadn't been at all concerned with Adam's condition, but had been fretting over Sableye's health the entire time. "She's still hurt, but she's safe from harm and can be healed at a Pokémon Center if there's one nearby. Do you know where one is?" Arcanum replied. Turning her eyes up to meet Arcanum's, she asked another question without answering his first, "Do you think it will be my friend?"

Arcanum relaxed his arm and took a step back, his mouth open both in astonishment and inability to think of what to say to the inquisition. She had been expecting to have the Sableye? And what a rubbish look to give someone... he thought as his heart melted at the cute pair of eyes looking up at him. He knew what it was like to not have any friends because he didn't play with anybody but Trapinch after his Dad had died, but he was still surging with excitement from his first pokémon capture. He felt he deserved to keep it. Letting out a huge sigh of reluctance, he decided to help Lucy out, even if it meant giving up his first caught pokémon. Both Lucy and Adam were waiting for the young trainer's response. Arcanum was about to show a lot of maturity in what he was about to say.

"Ok, here's what I'll do. First of all, Sableye gets to decide who owns her," he said as he released the Sableye from her pokéball. "I'm sure she'll be your friend either way, but she'll only go with you if she decides she wants to. If she decides to go with me, then I'll take her with me. But I promise I'll help you get a pokémon to keep with you even if Sableye comes with me. Either way, we need to get to a Pokémon Center to heal her back up to healthy, and after that you can even come with us if you want. So, do you know where a Pokémon Center is? And does that deal sound fair enough? And what about you, Sableye... Do you want to come battle along side Adam and I on our adventures, or do you want to be Lucy's friend and possibly stay here?"

Apologize for the wait, especially if it kept others from receiving updates. With this post I'm hoping you'll notice an improvement in my responses.
EDIT: Forgot Sableye was a girl, so I had to change all the pronouns.

Geenween: Ralph nods and smiles while Edna tries to climb into the back of the truck with August, Shadow, and the puppies, but she seems to be having a little trouble so Butch helps to boost her up before leaping into the back with them. Lotad looks between you and the other Pokémon, wondering what he should do, before finally making his way over and jumping up to sit in your lap. "Doesn't want to be leavin' you alone with a stranger, eh?" Ralph chuckles, drawing in a sharp breath as yet another pain shoots through his injured ribcage, but his expression quickly changes to one of curiosity as he takes a closer look at Lotad. "He looks familiar," the man murmurs before shaking his head. However he thinks he has recognised Lotad, he obviously feels he must be imagining things since Lotad pretty much all look the same, so he places his key in the ignition and switches on the truck engine which roars to life, backfiring once before humming smoothly. He slowly drives out of the barn, all the while trying to hide his pain as he makes his way along the bumpy driveway. Once you're on the road he settles a bit, thankful for the smoother ride, and finally addresses your question.

"Liz is a lovely lady, but she's very... picky.. about her Pokémon," Ralph begins, pausing for a moment as though thinking very carefully about the words he's choosing to use. "Her mother and grandmother both bred top of the line Growlithe in their day, their canines the most sought after Pokémon in the land. The women in the family trained them for contests, the men for battles. The family even ran one of the best fire gyms around at one point, but they preferred Arcanine over other Fire Pokémon and eventually handed ownership of the gym over to another young lad who is still one of the best fire trainers in the world. Nobody could beat the might of the Leedham family canines, who were all pure breeds, in contests or in battles, but when Liz met and fell in love with young Billy Mercer whose family train water types and avidly believe in cross breeding to strengthen the genetic code of their Pokémon, her devotion to him and her new found love for water Pokémon created a rift that tore the family apart."

Ralph stops speaking for a moment and you can't help but feel there's a lot more to the Leedham/Mercer family history than he's letting on. It certainly seems rather tragic that Liz's family would disown her over something as simple as opposing beliefs in regards to Pokémon breeding, but then again people argue over much less so it's not all that hard to imagine. Glancing at Ralph you notice he appears worried about something and at first think he must be in a lot more pain than he's letting on, but then you see his eyes are focused upon something ahead and look to see another truck heading toward you. He seems to recognise it, and purses his lips, a frown of concern furrowing his weathered brow. Glancing in the rear view mirror to check on the Pokémon in the back, his eyes take on a steely expression and you can't help but feel worried. "Shadow, Butch!" he calls through the open window. "Down!" Looking back, you see the two bark orders to August and Edna, and the next moment all four are concealing themselves amongst the bales of hay. As the truck drives past, Ralph stares at the two sneering young men with contempt. "Hey gramps! Isn't she a bit young for ya?" the driver calls, ogling you while his companion laughs at the crude joke. Ralph ignores them though, continuing to drive, his eyes flicking to the rear view mirror to ensure they've not spied any of the Pokémon in the back before his gaze returns to the road ahead. You look back to notice one of the puppy's heads sticking up out of the box and hope the two goons didn't notice. Ralph is quiet for the next several seconds before releasing a pent up sigh of relief when their truck continues along the road.

"Sorry about that," he apologises, embarrassed, before quickly returning the subject to Liz and her family. "August was born on Liz's twenty first birthday, just months before she married young Billy. Liz has never bred August for reasons of her own, and I've never asked why, but even though she has no objection to cross breeding Pokémon, I'm not sure how she's going to feel about the puppies due to the Leedham tradition of only raising pure breed Growlithe and Arcani-"

Ralph's words are cut off when the dogs in the back begin barking a warning, and when he glances in the mirror he curses under his breath. "They saw 'em," Ralph mutters, panic filling his eyes. Turning in your seat you see the same truck you'd passed earlier approaching from behind, and can only hope there's not going to be any trouble. You can sense that's not the case, however, as Ralph is quite obviously distressed giving you the distinct feeling the two young men are after something. "Those two have been trying to steal August for months," he quickly explains. "They know she's worth a fortune and will do anything to get hold of her. Drugged her one day when I was in town and nearly had her in their truck when old Shadow came to the rescue. I arrived just in time to find him and Butch chasing their truck out of the yard, but they're not going to give up. I was hoping after today they'd leave us alone because they'd never dare try to steal her out from under Liz and Bill's noses, but now they know about the puppies..."

His words trail off just as the chasing truck rams into the back of yours. Ralph gasps, partly due to the pain shooting through his ribs, and partly because he's scared for the safety of the Pokémon in the back. "I can't outrun them," he says, pulling over to the side of the road. "If I try they'll just keep ramming us and someone's sure to be hurt. I'm gunna have to fight."

The moment he stops the truck he leaps out the door while Lotad looks up at you, confused and wondering what to do. He then jumps out after Ralph, ready and willing to help the man defend August and her puppies while August herself, along with Shadow and Butch, leap out of the truck ready to fight. Edna is confused, not knowing what to do, instead ushering the excited puppies back into their box before they can get out and add to the commotion. The two goons release their own Pokémon for the upcoming battle, a Manectric and Tauros who are ready and able to fight for their trainers. It seems hell is about to break loose, and you're stuck right in the middle of it...

arcanumghost: To say you're surprised by Lucy's question is an understatement at best, the little girl's eyes making your heart melt despite the fact you feel it's an unfair question for her to ask. Looking back over the past few minutes, you wonder how you'd missed the signs from the moment she'd laid eyes upon the ghost that were a clear indication of the fact she'd wanted to befriend Sableye rather than see you fight it, and that you'd possibly robbed her of that opportunity. Whatever the case, what's done is done, and Sableye is your Pokémon now, but the little girl's situation hits home for you as you can see many similarities between the two of you and can understand how she feels. Releasing your newly caught team mate, you decide to leave the decision up to Sableye as to who she'd like to live with, and put your proposition to Lucy who gazes longingly into Sableye's gemstone eyes. Sableye smiles at her, running its hand gently over Lucy's filthy hair. She had only been eavesdropping upon your conversation to begin with because she'd been passing by and overheard Lucy's plight, feeling sorry for the girl and awaiting an opportunity to befriend Lucy when she was alone. But Sableye understands the unspoken rules of battle and capture as well as any trainer, and knows what she must do.

Sableye looks toward the headstone she'd been taking cover behind from where you both see a little Caterpie peeking warily around its side. Sableye motions for it to come forward and says something to it that you don't understand. Caterpie's eyes light up and it crawls over to Lucy and up onto her shoulder before rubbing its little face against Lucy's cheek, tickling her and eliciting a giggle from the little girl. Sableye beams proudly, for while she'll always have a special place in her heart for the little girl who had wanted more than anything to be her friend, she'd also been impressed with the way in which her new trainer had battled and feels she'll be raised well under his guidance. Sableye strokes Lucy's cheek affectionately before saying her goodbye, then looks up at you with a smile. Although she won't be staying with Lucy she'd first been sure to introduce Lucy to one of her own friends so the little girl will never feel alone again. Sableye places her hand in yours and turns away from Lucy who is by now cuddling Caterpie with such affection the poor little caterpillar's face is starting to turn blue. It appears happy nonetheless, and with a smile on her face Sableye is ready to leave the graveyard and begin a whole new adventure out in the big wide world beyond the confines of this small, secluded cemetery with her new trainer whom she already admires for having made such a selfless and compassionate proposition to a lonely little girl. Sableye is looking forward to her future adventures, and is trusting in her new trainer to teach her well as she prepares to head off into the sunset with you and Adam with one very happy Lucy waving a tearful goodbye...

Upon replying to your update you're free to leave the Arcane Realm and venture in the main zones. Sableye's capture has unlocked your rights to the egg house (which I should have mentioned in the last update, oops :p), so good luck, and have fun ^-^

atlantis_kid99 & Hayward: For a morning that had started out pretty ordinary, to say this day has gotten completely out of control is an understatement. There's no time to think about just how your troubles have escalated so rapidly, however, as it's all either of you can do to survive at this point. Considering the inexperience of your own Pokémon, they've done pretty well to have gotten this far, but with their energy levels dwindling rapidly you're going to have to think very, very hard now in order to emerge victorious. Both Golem and Sandslash are furious, their rage an obstacle in itself, but they've both taken damage, and with their trainer out of the picture, for the time being at least, they're going to have to rely on one another. All you can do is hope they've not been trained well enough to strategize properly on their own, and from what you've seen of their trainer this looks to be a very real possibility.

Mystic is barely holding it together, his energy levels very low now, but it's in his nature to fight till the end and Nikki is seeing just how determined her little Ralts is to see this through when he fires off yet another Confuse Ray at Sandslash before it can hurt anyone else. The bright wave of light hits Sandslash right between the eyes, its expression immediately changing from one of extreme rage to one of utter confusion. Smoochum, seeing the opening she needs to teach this thug a lesson for having hurt her, marches up to Sandslash with a frown, and curling her little hand into a fist, Pounds the Mouse Pokémon in the stomach. Too confused to even know what's hit it, Sandslash stumbles backward, landing on its butt right at the water's edge. It rubs its forehead, shaking its head as though trying to clear its thoughts, while Spheal claps loudly, applauding Smoochum's efforts.

Medeo is impressed but isn't about to attack unprepared, and sits quietly, shutting his eyes to everything that's going on around him whilst Meditating to help boost his attack power. He's going to need every bit of strength he has for this battle, and while his allies are keeping the two bloodthirsty Pokémon busy, he concentrates hard on what he's going to need to do next. Ben takes the opportunity to quickly introduce himself properly to Nikki and Mystic before racing across the icy rocks by the water to check on Machop, but Golem is quick to intercept, rolling over to position its large frame in between trainer and Pokémon before rising to its feet and Roaring its disapproval inches from Ben's face. It lifts its arm and clenches its fist, prepared to attack Ben when another of Mystic's Confuse Rays come shooting in from the side. The energy wave strikes Golem in the side of the head sending it toppling over and leaving Ben to race right past it. He kneels next to Machop who smiles weakly up at him while Golem rolls slowly toward the water. Unfortunately Mystic is just too tired to continue battling at the moment as his energy levels are almost completely depleted and he stands beside Nikki, panting heavily.

Medeo senses it's time to make his move, his eyes opening wide and taking in the scene before him. He's on his feet in a flash, his fist charged with ice energy whilst dashing across the cavern. A moment later he smashes into Sandslash delivering an Icy Punch to its forehead as Sandslash is shaking its head trying to regain its senses. Sandslash's head snaps back, a loud bellow of pain echoing throughout the cavern as it falls backward, its forehead covered in a sheath of ice. It hits the water, coming back to its senses immediately as panic sets in. It flails in the shallows, trying to get back onto dry land, but Seel and Spheal aren't planning on allowing it to gain an advantage now that they have it at their mercy. Seel bats Spheal with its tail, the rotund little Clap Pokémon hurtling toward Sandslash and striking it with a powerful Body Slam, keeping the ground type down. Sandslash lashes out, its Fury Swipes slashing Spheal in several places and sending it flying onto the rocky shore allowing the Mouse Pokémon to finally get to its feet and struggle out of the water, panting heavily.

Medeo isn't finished yet, this time focused on Golem while he races at the rocky beast who is right on the water's edge, not too far from Sandslash. With a ferocious yell he deals Golem a Bullet Punch, his steely fist shaving off some of Golem's rocky hide. Snorunt, still smarting after almost being crushed by a boulder, waddles up to Golem and unleashes a Powdery Snow, the freezing spray chilling it to the core before looking up at Nikki and smiling proudly. Golem is still confused and Sandslash doesn't look to be in very good condition, so if you plan your next moves just right you may very well still have a fighting chance of winning this battle. Mystic is extremely tired now, but may still have enough in him to pull out one last move, while Medeo is beginning to look like he could also use a rest. Seel, Spheal, Snorunt, and Smoochum are holding their own, though Machop has definitely seen better days, but with the next few minutes being vital you'll all need to work together if you ever want to see the light of day again...

The Sableye looked down for a moment considering the situation, even though it already knew deep in its heart which of the two she was going to join. It was an unspoken law that pokémon just seemed to understand without needing to be told or taught, like an instinct. She looked up and walked slowly over to Lucy, who was kneeling low enough to be nearly the same height. Smiling with a crooked mouth, she gently sifted Lucy's hair through her dark fingers. Lucy's eyes were peering deep in to Sableye's large, gem eyes. Adam watched as something crusty fell from Lucy's hair, it looked like the girl could really use a bath. The Sableye turned slowly to face the headstone from where it first came. A small green Caterpie head was peeking from around the wall. Sableye said a few things to the Caterpie and made sweeping motions with one hand while pointing to Lucy with the other. Arcanum and Lucy couldn't comprehend what Sableye was actually saying, but it was apparent that Sableye intended for the Caterpie to come out and meet Lucy. Caterpie understood and at a rather rapid clip and with an elated look on its face complied with the Sableye's request. The Caterpie was soon climbing on Lucy's shoulders and tickling her cheek with its feelers. Arcanum smiled at what the Sableye had done, deciding that she would indeed be an excellent pokémon to have on the team. Sableye herself was beaming proudly back at Arcanum, and after touching Lucy's cheek once more and saying her goodbyes, the Sableye bounced over to Arcanum and smiled up to his new trainer. Caterpie was already being loved so violently, it was changing colors - specifically blue from lack of breath.

Arcanum spoke to the Sableye saying, "So your friend Caterpie will stay here with Lucy, while you join Adam and I on our adventures. That sounds pretty good, and who knows... maybe we'll all meet again some time down the road. That'd be really fun, huh?" The Sableye nodded. "Now all we need is a name for you, and I think I know the perfect one. How 'bout the name Lucy in remembrance of our new friend?" The Sableye looked over at the girl and then nodded again up at Arcanum. "All right then, let's get to a Pokémon Center. It's starting to get late and you both need some serious rest and relaxation.

Lucy, with her newly befriended Caterpie resting on her shoulder, waved with both hands as Arcanum walked away in to a dark orange horizon. Arcanum's budding new team was full of confidence and excitement as Arcanum began polling them about what they wanted to do next...

It's been a fun first adventure enchantress, thanks for everything. *runs off to add Sableye to the team*

"Go and get 'em, Mystic."

Nikki's eyes were fixated on Sandslash as her Ralts pushed on wearily, another one of his Confuse Rays nailing it between the eyes, leaving room for the angered Smoochum to Pound the Pokemon in the stomach. Her eyes followed Sandslash as it landed painfully on its rump precariously close to the water's edge, as Spheal clapped praise for its friend. Right now, the teen was feeling... blunt to say the least. The day's surprises, shock and peril seemed to have worn the trainer thin, and even more surprises probably wouldn't faze her much but she wasn't feeling all that confident either.

She turned her head and nodded, flashing a smile at the male trainer near her. "Yes, I'm Nikki, nice to meet you Ben. Gotta watch out for that cut though, it's looking rather nasty. If we can get out of this one alive, all's good." Nikki quickly strided towards Mystic, his forehead beaded with sweat and his breath coming out very fast from exhaustion, and picked him up from concern. "It's okay, if you don't have the strength to fight, you can rest." The first-evolution Pokemon never ceased to amaze her with his determination, as an audible, tired but confident "Ralts!" came in reply. He didn't object to the lift, however, or the brief respite in his trainer's arms.

Sandslash. Ground type. Water. The connection had given her an idea, but first she would wait to see how things would turn out before fully executing her plan. Ben, as the trainer's name was, rushed over to Machop- or would've rushed, as Golem rolled over with a deafening Roar to the trainer's face. He skidded to a halt as the great rock monstrosity raised its fist to pummel him, but once again, Mystic blasted out a slightly weaker than norm but still effective Confuse Ray, allowing the trainer to pass and hurry to check up on Machop. Nikki hesitated, unwilling to go forward in fear of being caught in the cross-fire, but relented and came over as well. "Is Machop alright?" she asked quietly, pitying the poor Pokemon.

For the moment, Mystic was just too incredibly exhausted to continue with his part in the fray. The unusually sombre Medeo leapt up, strengthened from his recent Meditating disposition, dashing across the cavern to nail Sandslash with his Punching fist of Ice. The cry of "Saaand!" rang through the cavern, as the new icy addition to his exterior marked its forehead. It fell into the water with another cry. This was Seel and Spheal's lucky break; Sandslash was in their domain now and they would take every advantage of that. The porcupine-esque Pokemon flailed like a drowning man as Spheal was sent flying with Seel's tail, giving it the much needed power boost as its Body Slammed into it. The receiving Pokemon growled threateningly as it lashed out in retaliation with its Fury Swipes before hauling itself out of the water.

Medeo, now having switched targets, continued on to lunge at Golem with his lightning-fast Bullet Punch, shaving off a considerable amount of its rocky hide. Looking at the sodden and dripping Sandslash, Nikki grinned. Her plan had the desired effects, so she would attempt to send not just Sandslash, but both Golem and Sandslash flying into the water where they would hopefully stay there. Snorunt had recovered from its heavy blow by the boulder; the freezing cold Powder Snow he had once used on Mystic blasted onto Golem before standing and looking to Nikki with pride. "Yes, good work Snorunt," she smiled and nodded.

She observed the situation. Snorunt, Spheal, Smoochum and Seel were standing their ground, Machop and Mystic were in bad condition, Mystic from exhaustion, Medeo was starting to get exhausted himself, Sandslash was badly injured and Golem confused. These few minutes would be vital in securing their victory, or securing their death. Nikki reached out for the second PokeBall on her belt, and tossed it lightly forward. Mystic was in no condition to battle.

"Ember, go." As the nimbly statured Ponyta emerged in red light, upon witnessing the carnage before her- most notably the broken and beaten Machop in a terrible condition, she let out a fearful cry of "Ponyy!!" and almost reared up, skittering a little, before Nikki put a calming hand over her which soothed the Fire Horse's fears a little. The young Pokemon looked to her questioningly. "It's alright, Ember, we're going to need your help. I'll explain this all later- Meditite and the Ice type Pokemon in this cave are not your enemies. They're your friends; Sandslash and Golem is who we need to beat." Ember whinnied softly in reply, pawing the ground slightly.

"Alrighty then. Since you're fresh from the PokeBall, Horn Drill to send Sandslash flying into the water, followed by a Swift to keep it there. Then set your sights on Golem- Double Kick it in such a way that it will be sent rolling towards the water... hopefully. I'm probably sure Ben's Medeo will help you with that." Nikki gave a glance at the teen trainer near her. "I'm sure you know what to do, right? Send Golem and Sandslash into the water, Medeo's done a pretty darn good job in this battle so far, impressive attacks he's got there."

So now we wait, Nikki thought sullenly. She patted the Ralts in her arms, who smiled tiredly back. "Rest up for now, I don't want you fainting on me." The girl waited with baited breath and hoped everything would be all right.

Seel, Spheal, Snorunt, and Smoochum are holding their own, though Machop has definitely seen better days, but with the next few minutes being vital you'll all need to work together if you ever want to see the light of day again...
Blood continued to slowly trickle from the temple of the trainer Ben Hale as he anxiously crouched beside the injured Machop. Only moments ago, the superpower Pokemon had been cruelly crushed beneath the massive bulk of the quarter-tonne Golem. Concerned, Ben had rushed to help his fallen friend. Noticing Machop’s badly bruised chest slowly rising and falling gave him a little comfort, but it wasn’t until he saw the muscular fighter’s feeble grin that he let out a grateful sigh of relief. “Is Machop alright?” Nikki quietly asked him as she arrived on the scene, worry visible on her face. Ben only nodded uncertainly and turned his gaze back to the battle unfolding around them in the icy cavern.

Nearby, Ben’s Meditite partner Medeo, continued quietly MEDITATING in the Lotad Position. Readying himself to attack, he performed Mindfulness Jutsu, and except for his tiny hands, sat as motionless as a Metapod. They moved at an alarming speed, running through a sequence of intricate, mystical finger gestures. Eyes closed, the diminutive Meditite concentrated on reaching out with his sharpened senses. In this state of heightened perception, he could feel every microscopic molecule of his surroundings and became one with the wintry chamber. His attuned awareness would enable him to move fluidly in battle, lending more strength to his strikes.

Suddenly Medeo’s eyes flashed open, and he bolted as if awakened from a dream. He surveyed the battleground in an instant and nimbly sprang to his feet. On the shore, Sandslash was still trying to shake off the effects of Mystic’s Confuse Ray, while Golem tumbled away from Nikki, Mystic, Ben, and Machop, towards the frigid water. The determined Meditite hurtled headlong towards the lakefront and the two fully-evolved Pokemon as a frosty blue aura materialized around his clenched right hand.

Ben watched with astonishment as adamant Meditite met disoriented Sandslash near the water’s edge. The little yoga Pokemon delivered an Ice Punch to the brow of the bedraggled desert mouse with all the force of a charging Rhyhorn, knocking it into the subterranean lake. “That was brilliant, mate!” Ben praised his partner. Adrenaline coursing through his veins, Medeo let out a shout of “Medii!” in response. Without hesitating, he rushed at the now-upright Golem, hitting the great rock titan with a lightning quick Bullet Punch. Satisfied with the success of his hit-and-run tactics, Medeo swiftly scampered back to Ben’s side, not stopping for a second until he had retreated well out of harm’s way.

* * *

Scanning the underground cavern with his grey-green eyes once again, Ben quickly assessed their situation. Mystic was panting heavily in Nikki’s arms, while Medeo was doubled over beside Ben, hands on his knees, gasping for breath. The wild Pokemon had given a good account of themselves and were holding their own, but Ben wondered how much longer they could keep up the fight. Despite the fact that Sandslash and Golem weren’t doing so well either, Ben could see that if the battle lasted much longer, the bloodthirsty duo would eventually come out on top. Time was not on their side. He and Nikki would have to end this fast.

Trying to ignore the ringing in his ears caused by Golem’s deafening Roar, Ben dragged a hand through his short brown hair and thought hard to come up with a plan. Just then, Nikki unclipped a Pokeball from her belt and tossed it forward, releasing her Ponyta, Ember. Ben watched as the blonde-haired girl spoke words of comfort to the young fire horse, soothing it’s troubled spirit, then outlined her plan of attack. When she had finished she turned to Ben and said, "I'm sure you know what to do, right? Send Golem and Sandslash into the water, Medeo's done a pretty darn good job in this battle so far, impressive attacks he's got there." Ben nodded that he understood her strategy, while Medeo beamed at the compliment.

Recalling the fright and panic he had seen on their opponents’ faces every time they had gotten wet, Ben realized that it was only natural for rock and ground types to fear the water. The fact that the water was icy, another of their weaknesses, probably only magnified their hysteria. He agreed with Nikki. If the two of them could somehow use the subterranean lake to their advantage, they just might make it out of this old abandoned mine alive.

Ben tuned to Medeo and said, “I’m proud of how you’ve battled so far, mate. Hang in there just a bit more. Hopefully it’ll be over soon, then you can rest.” The small Meditite nodded and Ben continued, issuing instructions now. “Aim a PSYCHO CUT at Sandslash and then another at Golem. Try to drive them into the lake. They don’t seem to like the icy water.” Medeo glanced at the two fully evolved Pokemon on the shore and nodded his approval. “Ember’s going to need help with Golem, so save your DYNAMIC PUNCH until you're close enough to not miss.”

As the black-clad trainer waited to see how things would turn out, he only hoped their opponents weren’t trained well enough to strategize on their own…

Ralph chuckles, drawing in a sharp breath as yet another pain shoots through his injured ribcage, but his expression quickly changes to one of curiosity as he takes a closer look at Lotad.

Geenween let Lotad settle on her lap with some surprise. She had thought the water type would prefer go with the other Pokemon for sure, since she was a stranger other than an human. She had mistaken the small Pokemon, however, or maybe he felt a bit scared near those big canines. He hadn't an easy life after all, had he?

She however, heard the comment about him done by the man, and turned to him. "You may have saw him before, sir, because he's not mine." she said, before proceeding to explain the reason she carried him along and why she directed into town. There was no reason to not trust the man beside her, she had decided and anyway, he was wounded, so what could he do?

"His and these pups' story are quite similar" she murmured, after hearing her new acquaitance's story about the Growlithe's family and recovering from the scare about the truck coming from the opposite direction. It was one of those family stories that you prefer to read in books, because it's not nice to think people to be so stupid in real life. She let out a small sigh, playing gently with Lotad's leaf, wondering why the man wanted to keep the Arcanine hidden to passing people.

The answer came too soon, and she had to fight back panic when she saw they were followed. She could do nothing but nod at the man's words, but when he went out to fight, she didn't follow. How could she fight against those strong Pokemon? Edna and Natu were weak, compared to them!

Still... she could fight back if one of the attackers tried to snatch the pups by himself, thinking Butch and Shadow were too busy fighting to mind him. And maybe give an hand with an attack or two to provide a distraction...

If only she could be sure of what to do! She thought deperately, watching helplessy the events.

Geenween: Since you've not given me a great deal to work with here in regards to your intentions for specific actions or even ordering attacks (you've chosen to stay put, and not asked Edna to do anything at all, whether it be helping attack or to help keep the puppies safe), there's not a great deal I can do with this update. If you can give me a little bit more next time in regards to your intentions, I'll be able to do more with your next update.

With a battle about to start you're not quite sure what to do, frozen in the cab of the truck while everyone else is leaping into battle mode. Manectric and Tauros don't waste a second starting it off, Manectric shooting a Thunder Wave at Shadow's front leg, partially crippling the Mightyena whose muscles seize up leaving him unable to properly attack or defend himself with his leg out of action. Tauros charges forward, ramming the truck so hard that it tips slightly before crashing back down. You feel a jarring motion as the truck lands with a thud, and reason that staying in here may not be the safest of options if that raging bull is going to be attacking the only thing you have for protection. The puppies frightened barks are ringing in your ears while Edna tries her best to calm them, scared for their safety. If Tauros is to do that again, they could fall out and then there will be trouble.

August is beside herself. Her puppies are under attack, their father has already been maimed, and with the safety of her babies being her first priority she leaps at Tauros with a menacing growl, Crunching down hard on its nose. It rears back whilst trying to shake the Arcanine off, Stomping the ground hard in its anger and nearly flattening Lotad in the process who fires off a Water Gun at the raging bull's feet. Tauros slips in the muddy patch and August releases her grip, leaping back and landing agilely beside the truck, baring her teeth and growling threateningly. Butch, wanting to avenge Shadow, Tackles Manectric who sinks its Fire charged Fangs into the Poochyena's neck. Butch yelps, scuttling backward, eyes wide with surprise, when Manectric suddenly finds itself being bombarded by a barrage of Lotad's Seed Bombs, the balls of grass energy forcing the electric mutt to temporarily back off.

"Better get out of the truck, lassie," Ralph calls, concerned for your safety. "See if you can get the puppies out too, they're not safe in there!" Looking out the back window you see Tauros pawing at the ground, ready to charge the truck again, and see the logic in Ralph's words. If the bull manages to topple the truck this time, you could all be hurt...

atlantis_kid99 & Hayward: This battle is taking its toll on trainers and Pokémon alike, and with your partners tiring rapidly you're both looking for any sign of weakness that you may be able to exploit against these two bloodthirsty beasts. When Sandslash comes crawling out of the icy water, totally bedraggled, both your thoughts turn to the same plan in an instant, neither of you wasting a precious moment putting it into action. Nikki, feeling that Mystic is in no condition to continue battling, holds him securely in her arms whilst releasing Ember, the young Ponyta initially quite distressed upon witnessing the mayhem surrounding her. Nikki quickly calms the young equine though, while Ben listens carefully before addressing Medeo who begins mentally preparing himself for what he's hoping is his final onslaught.

Though quite nervous at the prospect of attacking a Pokémon much more powerful than her, Ember makes an impressive start, galloping straight toward Sandslash at full speed with her horn spinning rapidly. The panting ground type is too busy trying to catch its breath to even notice until its too late, and even though it reaches out, ready to Crush Ember with its lethal Claws, Medeo beats it to the punch. He attacks from behind, leaping up and lashing out, his Psycho Cut striking Sandslash in the back of the neck. The sand mouse's eyes widen in surprise an instant before Ember's Horn Drills into its gut, and while the little Ponyta struggles forward with all of her strength, Sandslash is finding itself being pushed right back into the water. It Slashes Ember across the cheek, attempting to force the fire horse backward, but Ember doesn't give in, working through the stinging pain. Smoochum, seeing that her ally is in need of a little help, Pounds Sandslash's knee. Its leg buckles allowing Ember to give one final, powerful shove that sends Sandslash splashing into the water where it's now at the mercy of Spheal and Seel. It tries to struggle back to land, but Ember puts a stop to that with a Swift energy based attack that leaves the sand mouse floundering in the icy lake. Seel and Spheal pounce on it immediately, Seel freezing it solid and subsequently KOing it with an Ice Beam, while Spheal bounces on top of it, clapping victoriously. Level up for Ember, Smoochum, and Seel.

One of your enemies may have been defeated, but you still have Golem left and he may not be so easy. Silently thankful that the rocky beast is currently confused, you watch with baited breath while Ember turns around and begins to assault it with a barrage of Double Kicks. Each kick pushes it further backward, but is also helping it to regain its senses, and before long it shakes its head, furious with the fiery equine for having the audacity to attack it. It rolls into a Defense Curl, but just as it lunges forward to Tackle Ember, Machop appears out of nowhere with Revenge in its eyes. This little fighter has been subjected to hell during the past few days, beaten to within an inch of his life by the psychotic trainer and his Pokémon, and very nearly crushed to death by Golem just a minute ago. He's not about to watch another innocent Pokémon come to harm when all anyone here has been trying to do is help him, and with a miraculous burst of energy dives for the ground, Rolling over to intercept Golem before springing up onto its hands to deliver a powerful Kick to the massive boulder. Golem stops dead, springing out of its defensive position while Medeo moves in to help Machop, delivering a Psycho Cut to the rock type's face. Golem stumbles back, Roaring angrily, while Snorunt waddles up and pelts it with an Icy Wind. Chilled, Golem knows its in trouble and begins a frenzied Rock Blast attack causing everyone to scramble and duck for cover. The moment is stops, Snorunt, Machop, and Medeo are on the go, Snorunt spearing it between the eyes with an Ice Shard, Machop delivering a Low Kick to Golem's legs, and Medeo putting all of his remaining strength into a Dynamicpunch that sends Golem hurtling into the water. Once again Seel and Spheal are on the scene, Seel slapping Golem's head with its tail which forces it to swallow the icy water while Spheal freezes it over with Aurora Beam, and finally KOing the rampaging beast. Spheal and Seel leap around in the water victoriously, applauding each other as well as those on land, thrilled to have been able to take part in a battle that has helped save their new friends from certain death. Level up for Medeo, Machop, Snorunt, and Spheal.

With the battle over, it's time to see to the wounded, and Smoochum immediately begins checking up on everyone like a little mother hen, making her rounds and ensuring she brings water to those who need it. Machop sits beside Ben and Medeo, too exhausted and in far too much pain to shoo Smoochum away. He knows she's only trying to look out for him and allows her to do what she feels she must, while Snorunt waddles over to Nikki and beams up at her, happy to have helped its new friend during her time of need. It smiles up at Mystic with a wistful look, almost as though wishing it were the one snuggled safely in her arms. It knows it can't finish the battle they had started, not now that they were all so sore and tired from the aftermath of the fight they'd just fought against Sandslash and Golem, but that doesn't stop it from feeling a little sad about the fact its new friend will soon be leaving. Seel, Spheal, and Smoochum gather together by the water, talking animatedly to one other and looking worriedly toward the fainted Pokémon and their trainer who looks to be stirring a little. All three seem to come to the swift agreement that it's time to leave this cavern before the dangerous trio awaken, and exit the water to make their way to the exit. They stop briefly to say their goodbyes before rushing into the tunnel, no doubt headed for another secluded area of the mine where they can play undisturbed, urging you to also take your leave before they disappear from sight. With them gone and the psychotic trainer beginning to stir, this leaves you, your Pokémon, Snorunt, and Machop to make a hasty decision regarding what to do next, as it doesn't appear you have a great deal of time at your disposal in which to depart...

Sorry, I'll keep that in mind. I hope this one is better, though I fear is a bit low-quality. I'm having some issues with RL right now ^^

Geenween let out a small, high-pitched cry, grasping the seat desperately when the bull's body connected with the truck. She hadn't expected to be the target of the enemies and the scene had been terrifiyng, especially due to the bull's size and strenght: for a second, the image of what could have been of her body if she had been the one to be hit flashed in her mind, making her stomach tie in an hundred of knots. She heard the pups distraught yelps and the roar of their mother as she leaped toward the enemy and scrambled out of the vehicle.

Lotad followed her closely, but changed direction suddenly to reach Arcanine and help her in the battle, providing a small but very efficient distraction to the bull.

Geenween was free to act now, and there wasn't the need of the man to know what she had to. She ran over the frightened canines, taking them in her arms as quickly as she could. Their small furry bodies were trembling in fear and she whispered a few quick words to try to soothe them. Edna had jumped off after her and was emitting small worried sounds, occasionally growling at the bull's direction with her big teeth. She was still unimpression, compared to the Pokemon she was facing, but she didn't seem to consider that important.

"We have to bring them in a safe spot" she told the Bidoof, who agreed vocally and ran before her. They had to find a safer place, possibly where they couldn't be seen by the attackers. Where, however? She didn't know the area at all, she thought, looking around desperately.

Sorry for the massive delay, school's repeatedly stuck its nose in my leisure time. So much for my self-promise of "getting it done by the end of the week" xP

As Sandslash hauled itself out of the water, battered and exhausted, it looked severely worn out. Ember, whilst she was still hesitant at the prospect of attacking such a ferocious yet weary creature, mustered up her nerve to gallop forward full-speed ahead in a clear Horn Drilling motion. Just a moment too late, Sandslash looked up in surprise as the Ponyta nearly was upon it, channeling Crushing force into its Claws... only for both equine and porcupine to be beaten to the punch by Ben's Medeo, as the Meditite showed time and time again his brutally quick speed and elasticity as he lashed out at Sandslash's back in a Psycho Cut. The receiving Ground-type's eyes widened, whether it was shock or pain Nikki couldn't tell, as very soon after Ember's Drilling Horn slammed into its stomach. The fire horse dug her hooves into the ground to provide a firm foothold as she strained to make the Mouse Pokemon inch steadily closer to the water against its resistance.

With a snarl and a cry, Sandslash Slashed the Ponyta on the face and making her emit a startled neigh. Instantly Nikki grew anxious, but it was replaced with a strange mixture of anger and relief as Ember's eyes only blurred with tears from the pain, but still firmly pushed on. There had been so many casualties in this fight, and these two murderous Pokemon had tried to kill them all under a madman's orders. And still they wouldn't just lie down and leave them alone once in a while. Mystic, Ben, Medeo, Snorunt, Smoochum, Spheal and now Ember... with a chill, Nikki shifted uncomfortable as she realised she was one of the only ones not yet injured so far in this battle.

A Pound to the knee from Smoochum sent Sandslash flying into the water once and for all. The Kiss Pokemon had come in at just the right time to give Ember the lucky break she needed to gain rapid ground over her spiny foe to the point of knocking it clear back; as Sandslash flailed again in the icy waters, it struggled for land as a Swift burst of energy from the energised Ponyta ensured it would stay there. It was in the water; and now at the mercy of Seel and Spheal. With astounding speed Seel's Ice Beam struck hard and true, freezing it solid whilst Spheal bounced victoriously on top of the solid block of ice. Sandslash was out of the count.

"One down, the second to go," Nikki breathed out partly talking to herself, partly to ben. The trainer felt positively more cheerful and reassured that they were now safe from the vicious Ground type and its lethal claws. But however confused the six-hundred plus pound rocky menace may have been, it was still a major threat in everyone's radar. Ember re-focused her attention on Golem, Kicking Doubly faster than norm with her rock-hard hooves. Golem growled with each kick, and each time more coherently as while the barrage served to push it ever closer to the water's edge and to its doom like Sandslash had before it, it was also serving to clear its head. She shouted out anxiously. "...Oh ****, get out of there Ember, it's not confused anymore!" just as the fully conscious Golem Curled up in Defence, then lunged forward to Tackle the Fire-type.

All too suddenly, out of nowhere Machop sprang out heavily injured and bruised with Revenge, anguish and guilt in its eyes. Nikki could barely begin to imagine what was going through its head right now, but right now attacking Golem had its steadfast determination. Its Rolling Kick startled the rocky beast to the point where it uncurled out of its defensive maneuver, and Medeo teamed up with Machop yet again to deliver a Psycho Cut to it, lashing out in the similar manner it had previously. The teamwork proved effective- Golem stumbled back, Roaring its anger then from the chill as Snorunt's Icy Wind pelted the Rock/Ground dual type, following up with a frenzied Rock Blast that made Nikki crouch very low behind the nearest boulder, however silly it may have looked. Once the attack ceased, the trio seized their chance and fired off a simultaneous Ice Shard, Low Kick and Dynamicpunch combo and sending Golem clear into the water. As an odd afterthought Nikki thought, that would've been nasty if it hit anyone...

With the tables of battle literally being vertical right now, victory was in clear sight. Seel slapped Golem's head with its tail followed by a dazzling Aurora Beam from Spheal was the icing on the cake that finally did it for the subdued beast. Relief instantly swelled in Nikki's heart, utter relief and also joy and exhaustion. Ember trotted over and whinnied softly, nudging her trainer with her cream-coloured uninjured cheek. "It's finally over," she breathed, hugging the equine and then Mystic in succession... who seemed to be agitated? Nikki watched in awe as a bright glow filled the cavern and Mystic's form elongated and lengthened... his form as a Ralts discarded, he was now a Kirlia. He had evolved from his first battle, as tiring as it was. As the glow faded, he let out a soft "Kir" and whilst his exhaustion from the battle was still there, he had found newfound strength in evolution. Ember seemed inquisitive about Mystic, and she gently nudged him whilst he proudly stood up in wonder.

"You've evolved," the teen said simply. Feeling this was no time to go excessively emotional, Nikki gave him and Ember again a quick hug before returning Ember to her ball and surveying the scene around them; now was time to clean up. Smoochum was waddling around as fast as her little feet could carry her, bringing water to the wounded, while Snorunt walked over and came to rest in front of Nikki. Its expression was wistful and longing, as if...

"You want to travel with us, don't you?" Nikki said gently. "It would really be lovely to have you with us, if you don't mind, and well, you've been a great ally and friend to battle by. It's been great having you around; if you really want to it's your choice in the end... here." She rummaged through her backpack and pulled out x1 Christmas Ball and held it in front of the Snow Hat Pokemon. The festive design seemed to fit the Pokemon perfectly. Mystic watched with curious eyes. So many things had happened today, it exhausted Nikki just to run her mind through it all. What started out as a Snorunt dangling off a cliff to this?

Smoochum, Seel and Spheal seemed to have other ideas, however. They seemed worried as they conversed at the edge of the lake, staring at the knocked-out madman who seemed to be stirring. They said their goodbyes and left very quickly, leaving behind them Nikki, Mystic, Snorunt, Ben, Medeo, Machop and the madman- along with the KO'ed Sandslash and Golem. The girl trainer watched them leave with regret but also with a mild sense of urgency regarding the stirring trainer. "I think we should go now," she said to Ben. "Let's run for it. Alright Mystic, since you're evolved now, another Confusion should give us enough leeway to escape, and I think I'll return you to your ball."

She nudged Ben again. "Let's go."

atlantis_kid99 & Hayward: This battle is taking its toll on trainers and Pokémon alike, and with your partners tiring rapidly you're both looking for any sign of weakness that you may be able to exploit against these two bloodthirsty beasts.

In an old abandoned mine deep beneath the surface of the Silverton Mountain Range, the trainer Ben Hale eased himself into a sitting position beside his Meditite partner, Medeo. The battle finally over, the Meditite sat on the icy ground hugging his tiny knees to his chest. Ben stretched his legs out in front of himself and joined Medeo in staring pensively at the subterranean lake a few metres away. Now that their enemies had been dealt with, the roaring and hollering had subsided. Thankfully, so had the ringing in Ben’s ears. The cavern had grown much quieter, and the soothing sound of waves drifted to them from the lake. As the two friends watched the cool blue water serenely lapping against the knocked-out bodies of the fully-evolved Pokemon, they felt sincerely grateful they had survived the whole ordeal.

The brown-haired trainer recalled how the Pokemon, both trained and wild, had teamed up to bring down Sandslash and Golem. Making full use of their surroundings, the group had alternated attacks in order to drive the two bloodthirsty creatures into the shallows of the icy lake. There they had continued the assualt, knocking out the tan desert mouse almost instantly, and the massive rock titan not long after. When Ben considered how Nikki’s Ralts, Mystic, had evolved into a Kirlia only moments ago, he realized that the victory had made them all stronger, although it hadn’t come without cost. Trained and wild Pokemon alike now sat tenderly nursing their various cuts, scrapes, and bruises. He raised a hand to his own temple and felt a gash. The scar would be a reminder of a battle he would never forget.

To Medeo’s left, Machop lay sprawled out on the rocky cavern floor. The events of the last few days had clearly taken their toll on the muscular little fighter. It took deep panting breaths, groaning painfully. With a look full of concern, Ben glanced at Machop lying on its back in obvious discomfort, and wondered just how many of its bones had been broken. He marveled at its resiliency when he thought of how it had battled. Despite its poor physical condition, it had clearly been reluctant to sit by while everyone else fought for it. Stubbornly, the superpower Pokemon had refused to flee or give up, displaying a fierce loyalty and a reckless disregard for its own safety. Ben grinned slightly as he realized that Machop apparently shared the same perilous spirit as his own Meditite companion, Medeo.

Thinking hard, Ben withdrew a POKEBALL from his bag. He leaned forward, attempting to get a better look at the reclining Machop. “That was a brilliant bit of fighting earlier, mate. Thanks for saving us.” He stopped, unsure of what to say next, and absentmindedly rolled the miniature capture capsule around in his fingertips. “Medeo and I…, well, we… we’ve done some things…” His voice trailed off, but he quickly continued, “We’re trying to make our past right. That’s why we’ve traveled here.” Ben rubbed his forehead with his right hand. Openly sharing feelings had never come easy to the teenage trainer. “Look, I’m practically out of money and I can’t promise you’ll have an easy life, but...” He tossed the red and white sphere to the superpower Pokemon. “You’re going to need this, if you're planning on coming with us.”

* * *

Sitting side-by-side, Ben and Medeo spied Smoochum busily scuttling around the battlefield, tending to the needs of the wounded. Bearing fresh water, she eventually waddled over to the wounded Machop and checked on its status. The superpower Pokemon was so sore and tired that it gratefully submitted to her doting and offered not the least resistance. Satisfied that all of her patients would survive, Smoochum quickly convened with Spheal and Seel near the water’s edge. The ice-type trio huddled together and conversed excitedly, periodically casting anxious glances in the direction of the stirring lunatic trainer. After a brief deliberation they reached a consensus, and bid farewell to the two teenage trainers and the remaining Pokemon. Ben and Medeo nodded appreciatively, and the threesome scampered off in search of a safer playground.

Seeing the big man beginning to come around had filled Ben with concern, too. While he had entirely expected the lunatic trainer to revive at some point, he had hoped it would be later rather than sooner. Nikki had also seen him stirring, Ben noticed, and by the look on her face, she clearly felt the same way. "I think we should go now," she said to Ben. "Let's run for it.” Ben whole-heartedly agreed, but as the blonde-haired girl ordered a Confusion from Mystic to cover their retreat, suddenly a thought came to him. “Let‘s go,” she said again, nudging him. “We’ll be right behind you,” Ben assured her as he and Medeo stood. Together they helped Machop to its feet.

Medeo turned to Ben, a questioning look on his tiny face, clearly wondering what the teenage trainer was up to. Ben reached inside the brown messenger-bag slung over his shoulder, and quickly pulled out some ROPE. “Here, mate,” he said, giving one knotted end to the diminutive Meditite. “Help me tie him up.” Ben motioned to the lunatic trainer. He wanted to leave, but also realized that if he and Medeo didn’t do something to stop the big man, more Pokemon would probably just be made to suffer. Ben had not been strong enough to stop him on his own, but he was determined to do his part to make sure it didn't happen again. Ben hoped that once he and Medeo were out of the mine, they would be able to find some help, preferably Rangers or other experienced trainers. He planned on explaining what happened and where to find the tied-up lunatic trainer. Hopefully, he would be able to convince them to come back and deal with the cruel big man more effectively. Excitement and relief swirled inside of Ben as he thought about how nice it would be to finally leave the mine and see daylight once again. He winked at Medeo. “Let’s hurry, we need to catch up to Nikki.”

Holding the rope between them, the black-clad trainer and the small Meditite cautiously approached their stirring adversary…

Geenween: Leaping from the truck you scuttle around to the back, reaching in to lift out the box containing August's three frightened puppies. The Arcanine shoots you a thankful glance, but you can see the concern in her eyes as you're not sure they're all that safer with you. While August continues her battle with Tauros to distract the beast from noticing that you're about to flee, you look around the area desperately seeking out a place in which to hide until this fiasco is over, but with this being farming country with miles of fields stretched out in all directions, there's nowhere to run. It's then that you notice a vehicle in the distance approaching from the direction of Oatley, and since the people in these parts seem friendly enough, for the most part at any rate, you lock onto the hope that they may be able to at least help put some distance between you and the two scoundrels trying to steal the whimpering Growlithe you are now in protective custody of.

Making a mad dash down the old dirt road, you're barely aware of the fact that Edna is close on your heels as it seems to be taking forever for the vehicle to reach you. One of the puppies who seems a little more adventurous than its siblings keeps popping its head and paws over the top of the box in an attempt to get out and help its parents fight which doesn't help matters when you're trying to stop it from falling out whilst also attempting to watch where you're running. Suddenly a pained cry rings out from directly behind you, and looking over your shoulder find that Manectric has broken away from the battling group and has Tackled Edna, the Bidoof quickly twisting out from under the electric dog and leaping back to her feet, baring her teeth threateningly while Lotad runs up behind it. Before Manectric even knows what's hit it, Lotad attacks, Astonishing it just long enough to give Edna a chance to turn and run after you. Manectric then turns on Lotad who is Growling angrily at his foe, deliberately keeping Manectric busy so that you're able to escape.

So distracted with the battling Pokémon that you'd not even noticed how close the approaching vehicle is now, you're startled when a concerned male voice calls, "Do you need any help?" Spinning around you find yourself standing beside a family sedan which seems a little out of place in these parts. A man and woman who appear to be in their late twenties are staring at you with concern while a little blonde haired boy in the back is staring at Lotad, his sky blue eyes round as saucers, his expression unreadable, and his face as white as a ghost. The couple glance at the scene ahead, recognition lighting up their eye.

"Oh my God.." says the woman whose eyes are immediately drawn to August who is currently embroiled in a vicious battle with Tauros, while the man asks urgently, "Isn't that Ralph? Is he in trouble?"

Any conversation is soon cut short, however, as at that very moment the boy, no more than six years old, yells, "Ruppa!" and opens the back door, leaping out of the car and running toward Lotad as fast as he can. Lotad is so surprised to hear the cry that he totally forgets he's battling and eagerly turns to face the child, giving Manectric the chance it needs to attack. It Howls loudly, then Tackles Lotad, sinking its Thunder charged Fangs into the little Water Weed Pokémon's back. Lotad squeals, the boy cries, "Noooooooooo!", and his parents are on the move. His father leaps out of the car, immediately pulling a Pokéball from his belt, while the boy's mother slides into the drivers seat. "Get in!" she cries, her eyes filled with shock when she spies the little Growlithe puppy once again attempting to escape from the box. She's so flustered for a moment that all she can do is stare, her eyes darting between August, Shadow, and the excited puppy, but when she hears the whimpering of more puppies from inside the box her face drains of colour so rapidly you think she's about to faint. She runs her fingers though her long, blonde hair, shaking her head and whispering, "This can't be happening," before tuning her full attention to you. A steely, determined, expression appears in her blue eyes, and you can tell that while this woman may have initially been overcome by surprise, she's not the kind of lady you'd be willing to cross despite the fact she appears so small and dainty.

"I need to know what's going on up there, and what I can do to help," she says quietly, her eyes focused on the scene ahead. There's fire in her eyes, and you can see without a doubt that the men attacking Ralph are in for a hell of a lot more than they'd bargained for.

atlantis_kid99 & Hayward: With Seel, Spheal, and Smoochum having already departed for a safer place to play, and the inconceivably sadistic trainer stirring from his forced slumber, you both come to the swift conclusion that it's time to leave. Mystic's evolution after such a draining battle is both a surprise and a welcome event for Nikki, while Ben is left filled with pride and admiration for both Medeo and Machop, neither of whom gave up the fight against their powerful enemies no matter how bad the situation had gotten. Everyone is exhausted, and while having a chance to relax and recover whilst talking quietly for a while in order to get to know one another a little better will be welcome right now, there is no time for it. Both trainers have some unfinished business to account for, however, and take the time to approach their respective new allies before leaving this place for good.

Nikki looks fondly upon Snorunt whose wistful gaze is full of hope, and smiles at it, more than happy to accommodate the longing wish of the little Snow Hat Pokémon. Offering the ice type a position on her team she rummages through her pack before removing a pretty red and green Pokéball with snowflake design. Snorunt's eyes light up with pleasure upon realising it now has a trainer who will love it, and who is willing to offer it such a wonderful new home in which to rest. It tips its little head forward, touching the release mechanism, and squeals with delight when the properties embedded within the ball recognise its unique DNA and release a flurry of snowflakes into the air around it. Snorunt is drawn inside, its happy cry instantly cut short to those watching as it's completely engulfed by the ball. The capture light turns green without hesitation, signalling Nikki's new-found ownership of the Level 7 female Snorunt who instantly gains 2 beauty points thanks to the special qualities built into the Christmas Pokéball.

Ben watches the scene with interest, his own thoughts drifting toward Machop who had been subjected to unspeakable torment down here in the icy mine. The makeshift battle arena and the pit filled with the carcasses of dead Pokémon in various stages of decay is not an image he's likely to forget in the near future, if at all. How many of those Pokémon had been as brave and loyal as Machop, but were unfortunate enough not to have had someone to come to their aide the way he had for Machop? Despite the fact his first battle had been so draining and far more dangerous than those fought by most new trainers, Ben can hardly find himself regretting the circumstances that have led him there as they had brought him him into the company of a Pokémon whose character is much like that of Medeo, and who is deserving of great respect for the role it had played in the resulting battle. Not accustomed to becoming overly emotional, Ben offers Machop a place on his team, tossing the small Superpower Pokémon a Pokéball and leaving the decision to accept in Machop's hands. Machop catches the ball, tears filling its eyes. It quickly wipes them away, however, especially since there are females in the cave and Machop has no wish to appear emotional in front of them, and nods at Ben before pressing its thumb against the ball's release mechanism. The bright red capture beam shoots out, drawing Machop inside, before the Pokéball begins to drop back to the floor. Medeo reaches out and catches it before it can hit the icy ground, holding the ball protectively in his hand while you both watch the capture light turn green, signalling your new-found ownership of the very brave Level 7 male Machop.

With their business finally complete, both Nikki and Ben look at one another knowing that it's now finally time to leave. Mystic sends the stirring trainer back to sleep before he can fully rouse and unleash more of his deranged Pokémon upon them, but Ben isn't satisfied just to leave him laying there where he can soon wake up and destroy the lives of more trainers and Pokémon unfortunate enough to cross the madman's path. Removing a rope from his pack, he figures it's best to bind the man up and send for the authorities before the raving lunatic can escape back into the world. With Medeo's help, the two ensure the trainer won't be going anywhere for a while before they rise to their feet to find Nikki waiting for them. You may have both arrived here under different circumstances, but you'd ended up fighting the same battle and she isn't going anywhere until Ben is ready to leave with her. With one final look into the beautiful underground cavern that could have very well turned out to be their final resting place, both trainers turn to the exit wanting nothing more than to put this nightmare behind them and begin a more normal journey into the Pokémon world of fun-filled, action-packed adventures that are sure to be awaiting them...

Upon replying to your update, you're both free to leave the Arcane Realm. As a bonus, since you've both done extremely well with the double adventure and have worked well with one another to strategise via PM before writing your replies, you can each choose one of the above Special Pokéballs either for one of your current team members, or for a future team member. Hope you've enjoyed yourselves, and that you'll continue to have wonderful adventures in the land of FB. It's been a pleasure updating you both ^-^.

Working quickly, Ben and Medeo bound the hands and feet of the lunatic trainer. Confident now that the big man wouldn’t be able to escape into the outside world before they could alert the authorities, Ben nodded at Medeo and the two rose to their feet. Nikki, the blonde-haired trainer partnered with them by fate, had remained close by until they finished. For that Ben was grateful. He thanked her for waiting, and again marveled at how quiet it had become. Despite the fact that the underground cavern had nearly been his final resting place and he wanted nothing more than to leave it, now that it was peaceful, its natural beauty had become even more evident. As his grey-green eyes surveyed the wintry chamber one last time, Ben couldn’t help but wonder if all the zones of this curious world were as beautiful. Excitement coursed through his veins at the prospect of all the exotic locales and extraordinary sights awaiting him outside the mine.

Which is exactly where Medeo wanted to be; outside the mine. Sensing that his teenage trainer had become momentarily lost in thought, the diminutive Meditite pulled on Ben’s sleeve, hoping to bring him back to reality. Ben felt his companion’s tug and rapidly shook his head from side to side, trying to clear his mind. He nodded to Medeo, and falling into step, the two friends accompanied Nikki through the abandoned tunnels, back to the mine’s exit, and out into the rocky countryside. Ben drank deeply of the cool, refreshing mountain air, and grinned happily at Medeo. Grateful to be outside again, the two let out a joyful cheer and danced around. After a moment of exuberant celebration, Ben turned to Nikki and sincerely thanked her and Mystic for saving their lives, promising his help if she was ever in need. He and Medeo bid her farewell, and waving, began their descent down the mountainside.

* * *

Ben and Medeo quietly followed the trail for a while, when the brown-haired teenager finally spoke, “Well mate, we never did find anything valuable in the mine to sell. But we did find a lot of new friends, and I suppose you can’t put a price on friendship.” Thoughts of Nikki, Mystic, Ember, and Snorunt; of the wild Pokemon - Seel, Spheal, and Smoochum; and the Machop they had rescued, swirled through his mind. “Plus we stopped that lunatic trainer and saved the life of a fellow being in need.” Medeo was clearly of the same opinion; readily nodding his agreement and smiling cheerfully at Ben.

They continued on in silence for a little longer, both reflecting on the recent events, when Ben spied something half buried by the snow. Pointing, he exclaimed, “Hey mate, look at that!” The two hurried over to the partially buried object. Ben quickly brushed the snow off and picked it up. “It looks like some kind of special Pokeball,” he remarked excitedly. He turned it over in his hands. Like all Pokeballs, it was spherical, but instead of the usual red and white halves separated by a black band, it was a light shade of grey. “It sure looks different than any I’ve ever seen. I wonder who left it here?” Ben pushed the round release mechanism, but nothing happened. “It’s empty and I don’t think it’s ever been used. Somebody must have lost it.” He glanced at the soaring peaks, jagged terrain, and harsh countryside devoid of life surrounding them. “Well, whoever it was, they’re probably long gone now.” As he put the metallic, Steel-colored Pokeball into the messenger bag slung over his shoulder, he grinned slightly and said, “Looks like I was wrong, mate. We did find something rare after all.”

Side-by-side, the black-clad trainer and the small Meditite walked on, unable to even begin to imagine what kind of adventures the future held in store for them…

Well, I guess that’s it then. *celebrates* Thank you very much Tess for taking the time to be my updator (despite your hectic work schedule), for the incredible/fun/epic first adventure, and for the special pokeball gift. *bows respectfully* Also, a HUGE thank you to atlantis_kid99 for her patience, great suggestions, and for just being an incredible partner. It’s been fun, AK99. *bows respectfully again* See you guys around.

*EDIT 1: Just for point of reference - Collecting 1 Steel Ball. Thanks.
*EDIT 2: Also replacing Meditite's Pokeball with the Steel Ball.
