Bulbasaur Beginner Trainer Battle - Missingno. Master vs Escalion

The man they called Kamui, blue-haired prodigy from Saigo, was mostly a quiet, peace-loving individual. Ever since leaving his home region behind carrying the title of Champion, he made a conscious effort to stay away from the public eye, even if the odds of him being recognized in a land as far away from his own as Fizzytopia were slim to none. With that said, the part of him that never got the chance to be a child enjoyed the flair and excitement of the New Fairground, the bright lights, music and attractions. He'd have to check them all out later, but for now, he had his eye on something else.

Mega Evolution has been discovered here too. One of these men can wield it. Let's see just how acquainted the denizens of this region are with the process, shall we Ka?

The golden-furred Ninetales next to Kamui nodded in silence, crimson eyes locked on the make-shift arena. When both combatants made their way out, it was apparent which one would be showing them what they wanted to see.

- A Key Stone in his hat. Unorthodox, but amusing... If he's mastered Mega Evolution, he must be one to the region's strongest. But still...

He found himself looking at the other Trainer, donning a black suit emblazoned with what he assumed was a family crest. One he'd seen before... Virote. The Saigo region retained its rural, almost feudal nature of centuries past almost intact, and as such relied heavily on importation when it came to most technological advancements. He knew the Virotes had business ties with Saigo, dealing in both land and sea transportation, which no doubt made the Trainer a wealthy man by association, even if he wasn't the one cutting any deals.

No, this one chose the life of a Trainer... and more. I've been told he's an official referee as well, something his opponent is not. So what Keith Masters might have in power, Rowan Virote will probably compensate in knowledge. This should be fun.

The Pokemon to face one another had been agreed to prior to the engagement, and it should indeed make for a curious face-off. On Keith's side, a Beedrill wearing its respective Beedrillite. On Rowan's side, a gargantuan Steelix sporting no similar Stone.

- Thank you for coming. If it suits you, should we get things under way?

1 vs. 1 Single Battle
Beginner Trainer Battle
72 Hour DQ
Arena: Fizzytopia's New Fairground: The rides and game stands aren't the only attractions here at the Fairgrounds, Trainers of all ages are welcome to pitch their Pokemon against each other in front of a bedazzled crowd! After all, what else draws a crowd and boosts ticket sales better than a good Pokemon battle? A hard 50m x 50m, clay arena has been cheaply sculpted somewhere near the center of the Fairgrounds, where it has been surrounded by a high, hard plastic fence covered in bright flashing lights, mostly to keep excited kids from running onto the field.

The Fizzytopia's New Fairground. Rowan arrives at the venue dressed to the nines. He wears one of his best suits, of course proudly showing off his family's Coat of Arms. And for the occasion, the young man styled his beard and to top it all of he even put on a top hat. Rowan looks as classy as can be, like a true Gentleman. He has reason to be dressed like this though. And in his mind, a special arrangement needs special treatment, and equally fitting clothing.

Rowan rolls a Pokéball through his fingers and looks at the arena in front of him. It's basically nothing more than a big hardcourt square surrounded by some sturdy, transparent plastic walls to keep things safe for onlookers. Inside the area though one man is already standing in middle, and Rowan can see someone approach from the other side. The man in the middle is a new face, but Rowan clearly recognizes his friend Keith with his characteristic Mega-hat.

A crooked smile appears on Rowan face and he too steps inside the arena, still rolling the Pokéball between his fingers. Which Pokémon is inside the Pokéball is for no-one a surprise though, it's just that a ten meter tall Steelix isn't an easy Pokémon to go through a fairground with. And thus, with a flick of his thumb, Rowan tosses the Pokéball to release Behemoth and together they meet up with the referee and Keith for introductions.

"It's good to see you again Keith, and you too Melittin. All ready for the official re-match I assume?" Rowan smiles confidently, "I know I am."

The referee however stops Rowan from heaving too much small talk and soon after the battle gets on it's way.

"Good luck and success Keith and Melittin! I know some might say you'll need it type-wise, but both me and Behemoth know better than that. I'll need it as much as you to stand a chance of winning this."

Rowan then turn to his Steelix, "Let's get this going, start with Curse and follow up with Gyro Ball. Then try to keep him close to you and catch him with Thunder Fang!

Keith grinned as he entered the New Fairground. There were a number of diverse and interesting battle arenas scattered across the Fizzytopia region. Keith had battled in a number of them in his time, but this right here, this was tied with the Plague Swamp on Venom Island as one of his favorites, just for the sheer fact that there was always an audience present to enjoy the battle. He exchanged grins with the Meowth on his shoulder- Keith intended to show that crowd a very thrilling battle indeed. In his right hand was clutched an Ultra Ball, and with his left hand, he tweaked the brim of his Mega Hat, the Key Stone set into it gleaming in the sunlight.

Rowan Virote was to be his opponent- a friend of Keith's, also a Trainer from Hoenn. Rowan had an affinity for Rock, Ground, and Steel-types, and the Pokémon he would be using today covered two thirds of those types right there. Indeed, as he threw a Poké Ball, it opened up to reveal a gigantic Steelix. Keith grinned at the sight- Behemoth was hardly news to him. He'd met the Steelix before, but not nearly as well as the contents of his Ultra Ball. Yes, today's battle was in fact to be a rematch between two rivals, a pair of powerful Pokémon who had fought before. Behemoth had won last time, but Keith had confidence in his partner.

With Behemoth out on the field, Keith figured it was his turn to send out his Pokémon, and so he threw the Ultra Ball. "Let's go, Melittin!" Keith exclaimed.

The Beedrill emerged from his Ultra Ball, looking up at the massive Steelix. His buzzing sounded excited- Melittin couldn't wait to get started, to show Behemoth just what he was capable of now.

Keith smiled in response to Rowan's greeting. "Good to see you, too, Rowan," he replied. "Same to you, Behemoth," he added to the Steelix. "And you bet we're ready. If you thought Melittin was strong last time, you ain't seen nothing yet." Once the battle was getting ready to begin, Rowan wished them luck. "Good luck to you guys, too," he replied.

"Dis is gonna be good," Meowth remarked as the Trainers took their positions. Melittin was eyeing up Behemoth, ready to spring into action. The Beedrillite set into the band he wore on his right stinger gleamed in the sunlight.

Keith just grinned. He gripped the brim of his Mega Hat, then swept it off his head and held it up high. "Melittin!" Keith exclaimed. "Mega Evolve!"

The Key Stone and Beedrillite reacted simultaneously. Fueled by the bond between a boy and his Beedrill, four tendrils of pure energy snaked out of each stone, connecting in midair, connecting Mega Hat to Beedrillite Band- connecting Keith to Melittin. And then the transformation itself took place- Melittin's hind legs each sprouted a stinger of their own, and the existing foreleg stingers grew longer and sharper. The remaining stinger grew larger, with grooves in it for the other four stingers, allowing Melittin to put all his stingers together, attack with all five at once if need be. The wings changed shape, the entire form grew sleeker, swifter, more powerful... and then, it was complete- now staring down the super-sized Steelix was a formidable and unmistakable !

Rowan gave commands to his Steelix, and the battle was underway! "Mel, use Reflect!" Keith ordered. "Then go straight into a Rock Smash attack!"

ROUND 1

Kamui had seen it plenty of times, but beholding Mega Evolution was always special. Melittin takes on a powerful glow, its Mega Stone resonating with Keith’s Key Stone, and when the light fades the Mega Beedrill reveals its true form, ready to take on even beast as gargantuan as Behemoth!
Making the most of his blistering speed, Melitin immediately prepares the battle ahead, not by going all guns blazing, as his menacing new form seems primed to do, but by raising a barrier to soften as many physical blows from Rowan’s partner as it can endure. Behemoth, on the other hand, readies itself to break the veil as quickly as possible, raising both its attack and defense in exchange for his already forgettable agility – after all, Rowan isn’t about to try and match the speed of a Mega Beedrill with a Steelix, so he might as well maximize Behemoth’s strong points!
As soon as the Curse is in place, its effectiveness is tested – Melittin charges like a blur of yellow lightning, driving its stingers into Behemoth’s iron frame with enough strength to break rock! Fortunately the Steelix’s body is made of metal instead, although the move still does considerable damage and leaves the hit spot bent and less resilient to future strikes… Melittin couldn’t capitalize on its Adaptability and the Curse did indeed soften the blow, but it was a highly effective strike no less, and one that brings Behemoth’s resistance back to base level!
But the offensive prowess of Rowan’s giant remains heightened, and now it’s time for Keith to witness their counter-offense. Roaring as it begins to spin, the Steelix turns into a rotating tower of power and homes in on Melittin like a steel tornado! The immense difference in speed, coupled with Behemoth’s increased attack, allows the iron snake to hit a blow so frightening, everyone currenty in the New Fairgrounds must have heard the impact! Melittin is sent flying across the arena, crashes into the side wall and tumbles to the floor… but Behemoth isn’t done! It lunges at the fallen wasp and crushes it between its electrically-charged fangs – only not literally because the Reflect veil prevents Behemoth from fully pressing its jaws against one another, crumbling away in the process but saving Melittin from what could be a career-ending bite!
The Beedrill tumbles down from Behemoth’s open maw in visibly bad shape, but no doubt with plenty of fight left in him thanks to the power boost of the miraculous Mega Evolution! What will happen next?!

And thus began the rematch! Melittin had landed a powerful blow with Rock Smash, while sustaining some rather decent blows himself- the Reflect shielded him from the worst of it, but that Thunder Fang still looked painful.

"Whew," remarked Meowth. "Tank Arceus fer dat Reflect- I don't wanna tink wat dat Thunder Fang would'a done elseways."

"You and me both, Meowth," nodded Keith. "But now it's time to kick things up a notch! Mel! Swords Dance, then straight into a Drill Run attack! And follow up with another Rock Smash!"

Rowan sees Keith and Melittin have not come to play safe either, which quite frankly suits him just fine. He's actually quite excited to see the Mega-Beedrill in action. Brute force is Behemoth's trade mark, but Rowan knows all the well the power Melittin holds in his stingers.

"We have to be careful with those big pointy things, even Behemoth's thick metal armor seems to be no match, have to do something about that." Rowan says more to himself than anyone else, while trying to come up with a way of dealing with the problems he's presented with. There's not much time to think and strategize though as Keith continues his assault, forcing Rowan to respond on the fly.

"Okay, let's do it this way Behemoth! Keep your distance and trap Melittin in a Rock Tomb while he's spinning. Then charge up for a Smack Down and unleash once Melittin breaks out of the tomb to send him back down. Follow up with Fire Fang!"

Bio:
Melittin possessed a thirst for power from birth, which was tough for him considering he was born as a tiny Weedle. Initially a nightmare to deal with, he eventually allowed Keith to help him train and grow stronger, and has become loyal to Keith in his gratitude. All Melittin ever wants is to be taken seriously by his opponents. Even if he loses a battle, he can take a loss as long as his opponent has gained respect for him. If not, he will stop at nothing to prove himself in a rematch. Naturally, after losing horribly to a Mega Sceptile, the idea of Mega Evolution has appealed to Melittin greatly. His most recent goal has been to Mega Evolve, and to that end, he now wears a Beedrillite set into a band which he wears on his left stinger.
Ineligible Moves: Aerial Ace, Brick Break, Toxic, Hyper Beam, Struggle Bug.

Biography: Rowan obtained his Steelix in a trade with Kairne, his single offer being enough to outbid everyone else. In a swift business-like transaction the deal was made and Behemoth is now in Rowan's possession.

Behemoth used to be a very aggressive Pokémon who would attack anything and anyone that disturbed him. His trainer or other Pokémon on his own team included. Over the years however this all slowly changed. Behemoth still is an aggressive Pokémon, but Behemoth's respect can be earned. It will come at the cost of a long and often painful battle, but succeed in this battle however, either by the near impossible win or a close loss, and his respect is yours. This is mostly due to Rowan gaining more control over Behemoth, and likewise Behemoth gaining more control over his aggressive nature. Thanks to the training methods of Rowan Behemoth also made a friend in Rowan’s Gyarados, Leviathan. The two have a lot in common, but also complement each other’s strengths making a deadly tag-team.
Actual Level for the Match: Lv. 23
Ineligible Moves: Dragon Breath, Dig, and Flail.

If there are any inconvenience with this post, please feel free to message me. The next round will be up shortly.

The last round was rather tough on the mega evolved bee, but his resolution is to become even tougher than his current obstacle. Doing a ceremonial dance, several swords materialize out of pure energy, which raise his attack stat by two stages. He remains flying relatively low to the ground, as the previous round shook him up slightly. Meanwhile, the giant metallic snake slams his tail vigorously on the arena. Beneath the ground several rocks protrude upwardly with strong force to Entomb the bee with a formation that resembles a tall unstable hut-hut. This drags down Melittin closer to the ground, as his body is heard tackling the confinement out of frustration.

Finding an immediate solution, Melittin moves to the furthest part within trap and turns his sizable stinger into a drill. Using forward momentum, and the recent power up to his attack stat, the bee runs right through the rocky formation and allows his sheer power to carry him forward against his opponent for some slightly reduced damage. The mega pokemon manages to impact the snake for some intense pain as the sturdy Steelix growls from the pain, feeling the sting on his lower torso specifically around the area that he is using to slither across the ground. Beedrill is flying relatively close to the ground, which makes it hard for the giant snake to actually reach or aim properly. Slowly slithering a few feet in reverse, Behemoth amasses a small energy orb made of pure rock energy. The golden sphere takes on a physical property as it collects mass to materialize before smacking beedrill across the chest and down into the soil. A loud buzz is emitted by the bee as it tumbles into the terrain. Given how relatively close Metittin was to the ground the impact was not as hard felt. Nonetheless, Steelix managed to capitalize on damage.

Beedrill is starting to feel more normal as he picks up speed with every bat of his wing. Picking up height, the bee remembers the previous spot in which he drilled into Steelix just a round prior. With blistering speed, Melittin Smashes his stinging needle into Behemoth, channeling enough fighting energy into the beast as if Behemoth was a malleable rock. Luck is not on the side of Escalion as he witnesses his ally have another defensive drop to his stats, putting Steelix below the normal threshold of defenses. It is visible from a distance that Steelix’s body looks ever so slightly dented after that repeated strike, but nothing that a pokemon center stay cannot restore back to normal. Behemoth grunts as he tries to spot his opponent with a very precise clamping of his teeth. He isn’t particularly agile after his own self-inflicted stat drop to speed. His attempt is noble as his fangs are covered in flames before going down toward the bee. Beedrill sees the impending chomp of his adversary and does his best to fly out of the way. The massive jaw of Behemoth comes clashing down with fire, and just as his mouth is about to close down the mighty mega bee flutters out of the way only to be caught by the external heat produced from the attack itself. Metillin will take any damage reduction he can get at this point making a slightly uncomfortable buzz as he flies away with partial damage at the most. Steelix repositions himself for the next round as Beedrill flies around his mid-chest area which puts Metillin fluttering about sixteen above the ground.

As you guys know, in the pokemon world one day you are in, and the next day you are out. Who will rise or fall after this interaction?

Rowan sees the battle unfold in front of his, Behemoth is working hard. Melittin would always be a strong opponent, despite the perceived frailty of the type, but in his Mega Evolved form the Beedrill is not only a just a strong opponent, he's a serious threat. Their power seems to be about equal, but Rowan can see that the battle is starting to cost his Steelix a more energy than Keith's Mega Beedrill. But there is a long way to go still, and the battle isn't quite over yet.

"Behemoth, use Curse again. Then use Rock Throw and follow that up with Iron Head!"

Keith considered his options here. Thus far, the pair of rivals seemed quite evenly matched. But Behemoth's distinct advantage in size was not to be ignored, nor was the super effectiveness of his Rock-type moves. Virtually every option the Steelix had against Melittin was going to be pretty effective, whereas the same could not be said for Melittin. It would still be some time after this match before Keith would teach him Brick Break, so for now, Drill Run and Rock Smash seemed to be his best options. But they couldn't last forever- not coming from a Bug/Poison-type- and Keith knew it.

"Better tink fast," Meowth advised Keith, for Rowan was giving Behemoth some commands. The Curse was going to power up Behemoth's attacks even further, and then would come the Rock Throw and Iron Head... Keith doubted it would be sufficient to finish off Melittin, but it would very likely come close.

And then it occurred to Keith in a brilliant stroke of inspiration. Of course! If Melittin was going to take some decent damage from these attacks... why not take advantage of it? Use the damage to power up Melittin even further. And as it just so happened, Melittin had one attack in particular that was very well-suited to this task.

It was with complete confidence in his Pokémon that Keith took a deep breath and issued a single, potentially battle-ending, command: "Melittin! Bide!"
