Cyndaquil Trainer Battle Rules

FB Trainer Battles

Did you ever feel like challenging a friend to a duel to the death with guns and/or knives? Well, then you're an odd one, and we can't help you there.

Using your own FB Pokémon that you've loved and raised, you now have the opportunity to battle another member - be it your rival, your best friend, and even some random person off the street. As the name suggests, FB Trainer Battles will allow you to battle against another fellow trainer using your own Pokémon. Win and you will receive glorious prizes as well as bragging rights - lose and the entire FB community will laugh at you.

Basic Rules
- Each person may be in 2 battles at a time. Referees may ref 3 matches at a time.
- The same Pokemon may be used in up to 2 consecutively running battles.
- To arrange a battle, you may find an opponent through Time Out, PM, IM, or the Trainer Challenges thread. After an opponent is found, edit your post to "OPPONENT FOUND" so that it may be deleted by a mod.
- Each battle must have these specifications agreed upon:
* Battle size (1v1 through 6v6)
* Single or Double Battle
* DQ time (maximum 72 hours)
* Choice of Arena (list can be found here)
* Tier (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert)

Note: There are 4 tiers:
Beginner - Only Pokémon from Lv.1 to Lv.25 may be used.
Intermediate - Only Pokémon from Lv.26 to Lv.50 may be used.
Advanced - Only Pokémon from Lv.51 to Lv.75 may be used.
Expert - Only Pokémon from Lv.76 to Lv.100 may be used.
* Equilevel and Equievo are not allowed.

- After the rules have been decided upon, a ref is needed. Find a ref through TO, PM, IM, or the Referee Queue. Again, after a ref is found, edit your post to"REF FOUND" so that it may be deleted by a mod. Any person may ref a normal trainer match with both trainers' consent.
- The ref will then make a thread entitled "FB [tier] Trainer Battle: Trainer A vs. Trainer B."

Battling Rules
- A RNG will denote who posts first in the match.
- The first person will post their squad, followed by the second person posting and sending out their Pokémon. The first person will send out their Pokémon and order attacks, followed by the second person ordering attacks. After the reffing the order will reverse.
- This will continue until a Pokémon is knocked out. The person whose Pokémon is knocked out will send out a new Pokémon with orders.
- In the case of a double knockout, whoever posted last the previous round will send out, then the other person will, with attacks, followed by their opponent posting with attacks. The match will then continue as normal.
- Battlers may order 3 attacks per round. Dodging or recalling a Pokémon will count as one of these moves.
- Only 2 Moves allowed for double, triple and tag battles.
- The DQ time does not necessarily need to be enforced if the other battler wishes to continue the match.

1-on-1 Battles
- In a 1-on-1 battle, each trainer will send their choice of Pokémon as well as their attack orders for the first round to the referee via PM. This is to ensure that one person doesn’t get an unfair type advantage over their opponent.
- After the first round, the person that the RNG denoted would go first will post first after the reffing, ordering their attacks.

Healing Items
- Berries do not count as a move, whereas the use of other healing items such as potions and revives will.
- Potion restores 1/4 remaining health.
- Super Potion restores 1/2 remaining health.
- Hyper Potion restores 3/4 remaining health.
- Max Potion restores full health.
- Fresh Water restore 1/4 remaining health.
- Soda Pop restore 1/2 remaining health.
- Lemonade restores 3/4 remaining health.
- Moomoo Milk restores 3/4 remaining health.
- Ether restores 1/4 remaining energy.
- Max Ether restores 1/2 remaining energy.
- Elixir restores 3/4 remaining energy.
- Max Elixir restores full energy.
- Revive will restore 1/2 health and 1/4 remaining energy.
- Max Revive will restore full HP and 1/2 remaining energy.

- Ice Heal, Burn Heal, Paralyze Heal, Awakening, and Antidote speak for themselves.
- Lava Cookie will heal any status effect.
- Old Gateau will heal any status effect.
- Full Heal will heal any status effect.
- Full Restore heals all status effects and restores full health.

- Energy Powder restores 1/4 remaining health, but due to its bitter taste there is a chance your Pokémon will disobey your next order.
- Energy Root restores 3/4 remaining health, but due to its bitter taste there is a chance your Pokémon will disobey your next order.
- Heal Powder will heal any status effect, but due to its bitter taste there is a chance your Pokémon will disobey your next order.
- Revival Herb will restore full HP and 1/2 remaining energy, but due to its bitter taste there is a chance your Pokémon will disobey your orders for up to two rounds.

- Sacred Ash may not be used in Trainer Battles or Gym Battles.

- Flutes are considered healing items. They must be posted at the start of the battle and the use of one does not count as a move that round. However, each may be used once per battle.

Note - Up to two healing items may be used in 1 vs. 1 and 2 vs. 2 battles. 3 vs. 3 and upwards may use up to three.
Note - Only one revival item may be used once per trainer per battle.

Prizes
- The referee will receive rewards depending upon the size of the battle as outlined here.
- The winning Pokémon in a battle will receive 2 levels and a battle trophy that responds to the level of battle entered. (ie: the Pokémon who is on the battlefield when the last opposing Pokémon faints. A DQ win or a draw will negate this.) Forfeiting a match will count as a DQ.
- For Expert Battles where the winning Pokémon is already at Lv.100, their trainer will receive two TM's of their choice for the winning Pokémon.

Re: Trainer Battle Rules

In order to ref a FB Trainer Battle, you must simply complete a short test and receive notification of your results. The test is simply a few scenarios to test your reffing knowledge. You will receive a grade on the test, which will allow you to ref certain matches, depending on how well you did.

The system is easy enough:
Can ref Beginner matches
Can ref Beginner & Intermediate matches
Can ref Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced matches
Can ref all types of matches

In order to receive the test, simply PM me asking for the test, along with any links of matches which you have reffed in FB (Gym or Contest), if any. If the matches you linked to are good enough, you may receive a ranking without having to take the test. Please be sure to read over the rules for FB Battles before applying.

If you would like to increase your rank, you must wait 3 months. You can then either (a) take a retest, or (b) have your grade adjusted for matches that you have reffed during that time.

I'm sure we had this documented somewhere but for reference here are the icons we use for each trainer battle tier.

Referee Test

You may if you like, it looks a little long and daunting but I don't need an essay for each scenario. If you like you may do a few or one at a time and PM them to me to have a look at:

I'll give you the test I've come up with. It consists of 9 scenarios made to test your knowledge and application of trainer battle rules and to test you on all the different aspects of trainer battles. I know you know how to conduct a battle but trainer battles are more calculated, the moves ordered are important. You need to take into account the Pokemon type, ability, held item and the arena choice more so than in RPG battles.

I use a percentage system as I find it easier to calculate the damage dealt and energy usage of each Pokemon, it also is easier and a more visual way for the trainers to see how their Pokemon is faring. I am working on a system for other ref's to use if they wish to use percentages too. If you prefer the PASBL way of description of health and energy (amount remaining and usage) that's fine too.

These scenario's are here to test you and in some case to try and catch you out. All I ask is that you ref each of them as you think is best and as fairly as possible. If you are not sure about something try and work it out, please don't ask advice from others as I want to see how you interpret the scenario's not how others would.

For each scenario treat it as if it is the first round. if you would ref each one ending with the HP/Energy/Status of each Pokemon involved. Treat each Pokemon as equilevel. If you can add a little note including your calculations for HP/Energy or how you work out any statuses that would be great. A little artistic flair is always welcome, feel free to RP each scenario, I find it adds to the battle and being an updator you should already be good at that.

Scenario 1

Trainer 1: “Go Pikachu, use Thunder Wave and then Thunderbolt”
Trainer 2: “Okay Aron, I want you to use Iron Defence and then Headbutt”

Re: Trainer Battle Rules

A slight revision of the rules which was accidentally skipped over when they were written up:

1-on-1 Battles
- In a 1-on-1 battle, each trainer will send their choice of Pokémon as well as their attack orders for the first round to the referee via PM. This is to ensure that one person doesn’t get an unfair type advantage over their opponent.
- After the first round, the person that the RNG denoted would go first will post first after the reffing, ordering their attacks.

Battles already started under the other system don't need to be restarted or anything, but these rules are to be used in all future 1v1 battles.

A few revisions of the rules to note:

Some notes:
-The Attack Descriptions are currently being reviewed. In the mean time, please use the ASB Attack Descriptions. (Which were written by the ABL, Mozz, and Muyotwo)
-Sacred Ash may not be used in Trainer Battles or Gym Battles.
-Flutes are considered healing items. They must be posted at the start of the battle and the use of one does not count as a move that round. However, each may be used once per battle.
