NeoKnight Raid Battle 1: VS Aggron
Max Raid Boss Aggron ★★★★ Health Gauge: 100% Shields Up: 0 Status: N/A Raid Challengers:
Aggron let's out a tremendous roar, shaking the entire cavern. It glares down at the small gathering of trainers, did they really think that they'd be able to stop him?

Soon enough, the full set of challengers had arrived, and they were reassuring to see. Nani probably didn't understand why Alice was so happy, but she had confidence in her fellow trainers, enthusiastically waving to greet Hugo, Ami and Ark. They were the most familiar to her, after all, although Alice did have to say that she worried about the kid. He might've had a top tier Monferno, but... Gosh, he was so young. Arceus forbid if he ended up getting stomped on. But at least they had Kingler again, impressive company that was always reassuring.
“No worries, Nani, we're in good hands!” She told her Machoke, who tried to smile in spite of her shaking. How funny, a Pokemon admired and envied for her strength so worried in battle, but she'd get used to things. She was one of the strongest and most suited Pokemon here, after all. Lucario went in for the first move, unleashing a bright and powerful Aura Sphere, and if anything was a sign that it was time to rumble, it was that they were getting left behind! “Nani, get in there and use Cross Chop!” Alice ordered. Her companion nodded, and after taking a deep breath, charged towards the enormous, steel-plated beastie. The Machoke was quick but heavy on her feet, forearms crossing over as she closed in on the target to land two strikes. They were nothing to scoff at with a base power of one hundred, but it was the increasing ease of critical hits landing that made Cross Chop ever more valuable. Given that eight trainers hadn't showed up as first hoped, any edge that they could gain on Aggron was important, especially with how the Pokemon seemed so sure that it was unbeatable right now. They had to prove it otherwise! ((Cross Chop at 100 BP? Let's go, kids.))

Staring down this Aggron, Ark felt the same rush of excitement as back when he’d seen his first Gigantamax Pokemon. Not too long ago, he’d been introduced to the Dynamax phenomenon, and Monferno had put on an absolutely incredible display of resilience in the raid against the Snorlax King.
He endured everything the giant threw at him, it was incredible, I had never seen that fire in his eyes! And the way he fought back, it was as if all that mattered to him in the world was defeating that Gigantamax Snorlax… He wasn’t wrong. The more he fought, the more Monferno wanted to fight. The harder the battle, the harder he worked. It was an intoxicating feeling of power; the only time he felt truly alive was when he was fighting. That mysterious man he met on the first day of his journey was right – Monferno was, for the lack of a better word, special. He had never seen or heard of a Pokemon that craved competition as much as his oldest friend. “You ready to do this?” shouted Ark, already knowing the answer. Monferno grinned and cracked his knuckles in response, no words needed. “Thought as much. But we gotta work together with everyone else, we can’t drag ‘em down!” Monferno knew, even if he was the farthest thing removed from a team player. He wanted the thrill, the rush and the glory all to himself, but he realized how these things necessarily had to go – until he could Dynamax himself (a matter of “when” and not “if”, in his mind) he would have to tag along with the rest of the Pokemon. Besides, and in all honesty, he still wasn’t the strongest fighter in this raid. Not yet, anyway. “We’ll get going at max speed! Mach Punch!” [40 BP, Iron Fist boost]

What happens when you take a pokemon infamous for uprooting entire forests and give it both a gargantuan upshift in size and an ominous scarlet storm with strong winds? One highly intimidating figure, a wrecked castle-basement lab, and a frantic call for help.
And apparently a good way for cursed sand piles to let out some pent up frustration. Who would've guessed? Most of the other Trainers that had answered the call of the oddly-placed NeoKnight's Gym had opted to make hyper-aggressive moves, meaning it was to Amicae and Cassandra to try to cripple the enraged beast. Perhaps that was for the best- the sandygast leaned more heavily on the Ghost Type's ability to hinder and annoy than the Ground Type's solid power with her skillset as things were, anyway. The question at that point is how they should go about doing that? A beast of that size was likely to throw out similarly massive attacks, so trying to lower its accuracy likely wouldn't have done a whole lot. And Curse felt like all it would've done was take them out of the fight that much faster! But wait, having some form of steady damage would've been helpful regardless. Of course, Typing had to be accounted for as well, since aggron's Steel attributes were notoriously difficult for a great many attacks to dent... "Alright, I think I've got it. Cassandra, let's irritate the chink's in this thing's armor- Sand Tomb (35 BP)!" The sandygast groaned at annoyance at the thought of being ordered around, but nonetheless moved to follow her orders. Besides, what move was easier to execute for a being made of sand, anyway? |

Worried that the trainers wouldn't be able to overcome this challenge, Jared rushes around, handing each of them a Dynamax Band with Wishing Star Attached. They dealt a surprising amount of damage to the giant metal monster, much to Ark's surprise, but at the same time they made it angrier. When it retaliated, it almost wiped out the Slowpoke in their party in a single turn - a terrifying sight, but at the same time, he couldn't help but feel happy for his own partner.
Watching Monferno be Body Slammed by Gigantamax Snorlax was one of the scariest things I've seen in my life. These battles... they aren't just about getting stronger, not like regular fights. Sending our partners to fight a Dynamax Pokemon is a cruel thing to do, the risks involved are... Damn it, I don't even want to think. It was probably best that he didn't. The very notion of losing Monferno permanently was panic-inducing, but they were on the deep end now, no backing away. He wondered how the Slowpoke's Trainer felt after that onslaught, but this was no time for sympathy - Amicae had done them the favor of trapping Aggron in a Sand Tomb, making him an easier target, and no shields were up. "Wh-what?" His battle planning was interrupted by a very unexpected gift - Gym Leader Jared gave him a real-life Dynamax Band, complete with a functional Wishing Star. He was under the impression these were exceedingly rare, especially in Fizzytopia, and the power they could unlock was... Monstrous. The ability to wield Dyanamax Energy, right here in my hand. But what are the risks?... The whole concept was still new to him. Did it hurt, growing to such a gargantuan size? Could a Dynamax Pokemon still listen to its Trainer? He felt the Wishing Star begin to glow, gathering power as soon as Ark attached the Band to his wrist. Sooner or later, he'd find out by himself; right now, Alice would get to. "Monferno, hang in there! Hit and run to make room for Machoke! Hit another Mach Punch while Aggron's trapped!" [40 BP, Iron Fist boost] --------- Claiming: - Dynamax Band x1 - Wishing Star x1 Awesome!

Spoiler: show One of the trainers was already paralysed by fear of the Aggron, which wasn't a good sign. It was like the giant could smell it all the way up from the swirling clouds and was choosing to answer the emotion with a horrifying Max Steelspike. The adorable little Slowpoke, Pinky, was going to be in a lot of pain in the next eleven seconds, that was for sure. One of the other kids was nervous, too, but at least he and his Monferno were doing well. They couldn't ask for more than that. “O- oh? Thank you.” Alice looked down at the Dynamax Band and the Wishing Piece within it. She'd looked into getting one after the raid at the Springtide Isle, but with no luck. This was reassuring, although she wished they'd gotten them earlier, Jared had almost made her jump out of her skin! Now was the time to put it on, and Alice pulled another face when she felt a rush of energy absorb. Even Nani seemed to notice the change in the air. “Machoke?” The fighting type asked, looking from the band to Alice. “It's a Dynamax band, so you can become big like that!” Alice explained, the Pokemon's eyes wideneing. “I think we've got to do it, Nani! We need to turn this battle around!” She explained. Her Machoke didn't look so confident, however. “Don't worry, in Galar, they do this all the time!” “Choke...” “Come on, you'll see! It's only temporary anyway!” It took some consideration, but Machoke uncertainly conceded. If it had to be done, it would be wrong to say no. But why did she have to go first?! “Alright then,” Alice took out Nani's Love Ball from her pocket, returning Nani only briefly. Making use of the Dynamax energy, it inflated in size, completely losing the pink and white that Alice treasured in the little spheres. “God, I can't even throw regular balls properly...” She muttered, but hurled the ball behind them anyway, releasing a Nani that was no longer a bulky, human size but... Enormous! Nani roared, flexing her muscles for all to see, including the Aggron across from her. It no longer seemed so intimidating now that they were on equal footing, with the Machoke owning her own set of powerful new moves to strike the Aggron with. “You feeling good up there, Nani?! Good stuff!” Alice grinned, one hand curled into a fist. It soon released to point at the Aggron, “Go in with a Max Knuckle! Show it two can play at that game!” Nani prepared herself, back on her haunches like a racer ready for a spring. Time to make this count. But also, best not to squash her allies, or this would end in a very bad way... ((Nani uses Max Knuckle with 100 BP? I think? Help I need an adult--))

The trainers marvel as Nani grows rapidly, soon matching the size of the Aggron! Things were getting a bit crazy in the NeoKnights Gym at this point, to put matters in as simple terms as possible. One of the gathered Trainers had quickly proven themselves not to be a proper warrior quite yet, the poor slowpoke they brought with them paid the price for their (admittedly well-placed) awestruck terror. The group were suddenly down to just five members, just like that- not even to craft a full League-sanctioned team!
The same Rock Slide that battered the slowpoke had also given Ami a different sort of scare. She couldn't help but let out a shout as a massive boulder hit Cassandra head-on, spraying a wave of sand all around its impact site. Who wouldn't panic upon witnessing a beloved partner, no matter how difficult, take a seemingly mortal blow? Thankfully, it barely took a couple seconds before the scattered grains reconverged around the shovel while unleashing an annoyed hiss and lashing out with a torrent of health-draining sand in retaliation. Between the Mega Drain, some sort of healing technique that Amicae had never seen before from the allied lucario, and Cassandra's own amorphous nature, it seemed that the sandygast wasn't at risk of fainting any time soon. That sigh of relief was quickly followed up by yet another bit of good news- someone had managed to harness the energy that made this aggron go berserk for trainers to take advantage of in controlled, but short, bursts! And what's more, it seemed the Gym Trainers were more than willing to lend such power to their helpers! As the last person to get this so-called Dynamax Band, Ami barely has enough time to give her thanks before a gargantuan machine appeared to tell the aggron to pick on someone their own size. Agrron seemed to have been unamused by the gesture, and responded by summoning a series of crimson shields to stand in the machine's way. A massive blow slammed into the titanium-clad beast's defenses, and some of the attack's residual energy appeared to leak into the gathered pokemon in the form of an Attack increase, but the barrier nonetheless held its ground. "Well, that's a frustrating turn of events," Ami muttered as she thought over her options in this situation. The time she spent training Cassansea had mostly gone to getting the grudgeborn sandpile to actually listen to her, so the samdygat's movepool was neither large nor inspiring at the moment. "Still, we might have a less overt way to chip those shields away... Okay, let's try that. Cassandra, catch its attention with Astonish (30 BP)!" |

No time to RP this round, but let's go for another Mach Punch (40 BP, Iron Fist Boost) before Nani gets her turn so hopefully shields will be down by then!

“Agh, damnit...” Seeing an ally already fallen was a nightmare, but there was nothing they could do about it now. They were a person down and that was that, and they would just have to make sure to strategise around it. So, that was what did they did in the seconds that they had, given that the Aggron wasn't just going to wait for them to chat and dilly dally. The pesky set of shields needed taking care of first, and so Alice had Nani hung back, letting their allies take care of the enemy's bulky defences. Pokemon were magnificent to behold in battle and it was always awesome to take time and admire others, although it was a shame they usually had to wait for some ridiculous disaster in order to do that. Even Kingler looked majestic in all of their aggression, stomping and throwing a tantrum through a red storm, and the natural coolness of a Lucario really went without saying.
“Alright, Nani, let's give it another Max Knuckle! We've have to make up the numbers here, so don't hold back!” Alice instructed. With every passing moment, Nani was growing more comfortable and confident in her dynamaxed form, and she knew the sense of urgency. Especially with an ally who might not even be able to flee, they had to succeed here. Powered via another Cross Chop, Nani pulled her dominant arm back and struck with another devastating Max Knuckle, hoping to take advantage of Aggron's weakened state and further bolster the attack power of their own side. ((Nani uses Max Knuckle, from Cross Chop at 100 BP ty.))

Dynamax Boss Aggron ★★★★ Health Gauge: 66% Shields Up: NA Status: Defence +1, Attack +1, Sand Tomb (3), Electric Terrain (2), Magnet Rise (1) Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Max Knuckle (90 BP) Meetan, Machoke: 341 HPAttack 2: Magnet Rise Aggron is immune to Ground moves!Attack 3: Aerial Ace (60 BP) Zorchic, Lucario: 64 HPRaid Challengers:
Taking a more organised approach, the trainers work together to dispatch the Aggron's remaining shields. As the last of the shields break, Nani brings a giant fist crashing down from above! While the attack deals a tonne of damage, it seems to give the Raid Boss and idea, as he replies with the exact same attack, boosting his strength in the process. A surge of electricity sees the Raid Boss rise off the ground, removing one of his key weaknesses for a time. Dynamax Initiative: Meetan, Machoke

Dynamax Boss Aggron ★★★★ Health Gauge: 50% Shields Up: 6 Status: Defence +1, Attack +1, Sand Tomb (4), Electric Terrain (3), Magnet Rise (2) Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Max Darkness (110 BP) Median Dia, Sandygast: 108 HPAttack 2: Iron Head (80 BP) King Ghidorah, Kingler: 301 HPAttack 3: Rock Slide (75 BP) Blocked by King Ghidorah, Kingler’s Wide GuardRaid Challengers:
With Kingler senting up a defence, the other Pokemon continue their assault. Another Max Knuckle bolsters their strength and they eventually force Aggron to through up another wave of shields! One is smashed before the Aggron returns with a volley of attacks, but thankfully a Wide Guard protects the challengers against a powerful Rock Slide. Just as things are looking up, Nani begins to shrink, the Dynamax energy expiring! The shields would be much harder to smash now and they couldn't rely on her to provide any more boosts. Dynamax Initiative: Meetan, Machoke
