This is some bullshit!!!

Alright. I went to the theater today to watch Walk Hard. It looked like an awesome movie, and since it released on my birthday, it was the perfect day to watch it. Anyway, I took my friend to watch it with me, and when I went to buy the tickets, the guy was like "I need both of your IDs." I showed him that I was 18, but it wasn't enough. My friend was only 16, and didn't have an ID, so we had to miss it!

What the ****?! Since I was a kid, one adult is more than enough for multiple to see a rated R movie. Hell, all I needed for my friend to watch Superbad was my ID. I don't know what's the deal with that stupid ass rule, but that is ridiculous. I was actually looking forward to watching it, but NOOOOOOO!

You probably didn't see my congratulations, so I'll give it again; Happy Birthday, big bad birtha!

...

In any matter, "ID to see a movie"? Since when? o_O

Re: This is some bullshit!!!

=O You're right. I didn't see it. Anyway, thanks. I mean, isn't 19 a sexy number? I'm a year from being barely legal =D

.......

Yea. I actually needed an ID to watch Superbad and Walk Hard.

Anyway, I would like to know why the hell it DID come to that. One adult should be plenty for several other people to watch a rated R movie.

Re: This is some bullshit!!!

The last time I've been to see a movie in theaters was when I was 21, and I was carded then.

But the thing is, BBB, ...
- when you go with your parent or guardian, then you can be underage
- but if you're going with pals, strangers, etc., then you're treated as individuals

So I'm not really surprised by this story at all. I'd be surprised if a father and son were turned away because of the son's age, but I wouldn't be surprised if a brother and brother, cousin and cousin, or friend and friend were turned away.

Re: This is some bullshit!!!

I worked at AMC theaters up until a few months ago. The only way your 16 year old friend could have gotten in is if a parent or guardian was with you, or if you were over the age of 21 (I think that last part is right...I'll have to check up on that). The fact that he didn't have an ID only made things worse. Sorry about your luck, though.

Re: This is some bullshit!!!

The trick is to have your underage friends hide out of sight while you buy tickets for the whole group.

If that doesn't work, try lighting your friend on fire. The sense of urgency will cause them to forget about carding.

And he'll be protected again Ninjas. You want to save your friend from Ninjas don't you? Or are you going to let him die?

Re: This is some bullshit!!!

Or you could always ask someone older to buy the tickets and give them the money, that usually works.

I usually take their money and run into the R-rated theater where they can't chase me down. w

I was going to try that, but since I already asked, he would know what I was up to =/

He actually tried that. Hell, when I was underage, I always asked adults to buy stuff for me when buying M rated video games. However, when he asked someone, they were like "I'd better not." People are twats. I'd gladly buy something for someone underage. Hell, I buy cigarettes for people all of the time (of course, half of the time, I look younger than the people I'm buying cigarettes for).

Oh, and that picture was awesome XD.

I kind of had a plan myself. I was going to go and buy one ticket for my friend like thirty minutes before the movie starts, and then I was going to go the actual time and buy one for myself. That should work. Of course, that's for future plans =/.
