Smoke arose from the newest Dynamax boss to grace Fizzy Power Co. with its presence, enough so that one might have thought that the second reactor was up and running again were it not for the still blaring klaxon alerting the area to the contrary. The lumbering tortoise took its time stepping about the Gym, perhaps for the best as it does take a moment for the raiders to gather with a plan in hand for the hard shelled monster before them. Soon enough, though, the Torkoal spots the group, a loud cry echoing through the area as yet more smoke began to billow from the beast. In that moment, Dynamax energy rushes to the band around Jake's wrist, signaling the start of the battle.

With an initial salvo of super effective attacks, the raiders begin pushing the boss deep into its healthbar without much resistance. Angered by the hefty blows, Torkoal unleashes a Max Quake, striking one of the two raiders currently weak to the attack and greatly harming Numel while raising its own Special Defense. Seeking to fortify further, the boss lowers its head, raising its Defense before charging into Slowking with a Skull Bash. Whirlpool then ticks, forcing the boss to put up shields.

Growing to enormous size, the now Dynamaxed Numel receives a Heal Pulse, bringing the camel close to full before pumping out a Max Quake. Unfortunately, Torkoal throws up a Max Guard, completely nullifying the attack. A couple more blows make their way into the shields, cracking half of them before Torkoal amps up its defenses more with an Amnesia before Whirlpool ticks once more.

A second Max move puts down Torkoal's shields, but thanks to its White Smoke, no stat drops occur. Slowking was prepared for this eventuality, a Nasty Plot raising some Special Attack while the other raiders put more damage onto the boss. Another Max Quake comes out, pushing Torkoal's Special Defense even higher, before an Iron Defense raises its physical Defense to similar levels. Whirlpool then occurs, dealing some damage.

As the raiders prepare a volley of strong attacks, Torkoal sets up a Protect, entirely eating Slowking's attack. The remaining blows just barely push the boss into shields, the Max Quake providing a nice Special Defense boost for the raiders. Torkoal then unleashes a Max Ooze on Kecleon, dealing a bit of damage but also serving to help nullify that recent stat raise with one of its own. Whirlpool then ticks one last time before Numel reduces back to standard size.
