Beginner Trainer Battle: Lilblue vs. SP
Another battle is raring to commence as the serene meadows of Stardust Fields bustle with energy. It’s beginning to reach midday on the grassy plains, the yellow sun peaking upon the picturesque sky-blue skies decorated with a few fine streaks of cloud. A tall oak blossoming with cherries sprouts itself at the focal point of the hilly backdrop, the Starly chicks inhabiting it chirping cutely as their mother bird skims the landscape in search for juicy worms. Although you’d expect no other place to be as tranquil as Stardust Fields, a closer inspection provides you with several markings of previous battles. The pasture surrounding the tree is patched with grazes, and the sapling itself looked rather chipped too. Yes, the calm meadow had become a hotspot for trainer battles, the 50x50m section stimulating even the most timid of Pokémon. The two seasoned trainers calmly stroll through the lush hills, occasionally met by an inquisitive Buneary or Budew on their stroll. The Pokémon inhabiting the flourishing prairie were less than used to strangers, thus they gathered in their hoards to spectate the inevitable skirmish. Each trainer makes their way to a boundary on the grassy battlefield, cooed playfully by the wild animals. A warm breeze broke through the air, sending loose flowers bobbing off of the towering oak and into the gust. The hustle and bustle of the playful critters hushed.
SP-Eevee vs. lilbluecorsolaYou both make acquaintance with each over, each gripping a Pokeball as you immerse in idle chitchat. The noise of a motor echoes up the rolling hills as you spot a kid sporting a striped shirt and a silver whistle tied round his neck revving a golf caddy. Ambling out of the caddy, he situates himself to the centre of the arena. “Nice to see you both again”, upon finishing a brief welcome, the man nods at each competitor, “This will be a one versus one beginner trainer battle. No recalls…” Another moment passes, and the referee suddenly mauls a glossy Magikarp-coin, "Lilblue, Heads; SP-Eevee, Tails.” Tossing the coin high in the air, he quickly grabs it to reveal the verdict: “Tails!” The order of this battle will go as follows: - Both of you will PM your Pokemon's stats, healing items, and first round moves to me. - I will ref the first round. - SP-Eevee will then order their attacks for the next round. - Lilblue orders their attacks. - I ref the round, attack order reverses, rinse and repeat! |

Round One: A Rose with a Thorn!

“And in the blue corner, the veteran trainer Jessica stands along side her captivating Chikorita!” The ref continued, extending his other streamer in course of the adolescent brunette, “It should be noted that a win for Jessica will kick start her Level One Gym Challenges... Boy this should be fun”. The girl then blushed slightly, a limegreen sphere nestled within her hands as she stood directly affront the fresh cherry tree that had grown from the ashes of the one she and Nick had unintentionally destroyed in a previous scrap. With a light underthrow the ball twirled forward and split open just like Kelly’s. With an explosion of green light, the ball jarred close to reveal a stout dinosaur which leisurely hopped toward her trainer and playfully nuzzled the thickets of fluffy dandelions in awe with the environment. As the two trainers volleyed their orders, it wasn’t before long that the two quadrupeds sprung into action and met eyes beside the rosy sakura. Right off the bat, Lucas hollers toward the grass type with some playful Taunts, growling with a slight tease in his tone as if to say, “Hit me with your best shot!” The onion coloured sauropod frowns slightly, her blood vessels boiling filling her with a passion to smack that cocky grin right off of Lucas’ face. Whilst the plant-Pokémon fidgets and mumbles to herself with an upped attack stat, the idea of status moves didn’t even enter her head. Thus, Hoshiko sits still, slightly shrouded by the thick grass surrounding the cherry tree so she doesn’t look so helpless. Lucas grins maliciously, strolling circles around the large oak until he’s a few inches from the Chikorita, hocking up a blob of Toxic which he spits forward. The purple sludge cuffs the shrub on the side of her face, taking no damage but seeping into her glossy skin and causing her pale face to drop even whiter. She grumbles weakly as the tip of her star-shaped leaf tips with poison! Lucas then begins tensing and barking gruffly as his limbs Bulk Up and his body becomes buff. Still under Eevee’s mind tricks, Hoshiko can do nothing but sit tight – knowing full well her flash wouldn’t cause a dent to the fox, she was eager to deal damage but still at a loss for commands. She decides to follow up with her finale, enveloping in an apple-green aura as the foliage surrounding Lucas’ paws began to rustle violently. Suddenly! Hoshiko swiftly spun her head-leaf like helicopter, a spitfire of thick Thorns protruding from it and spitting at the fox like a staple gun. Unfortunately taking the role of the paper, Lucas whimpers as the thorns cause trickles of blood to dye his fur red. The attack then saps away a good sixteenth of his health, whilst Chikorita’s poison chips away some health too. Kelly had mixed feelings about the first round, although she'd managed to poision her opponent which could come in handy as the battle wears on Lucas was ensnared by the damaging thorns, one-sixteenth of health per turn was nothing to laugh at. The girl started to feel an incline of regret choosing to use Bulk Up, in retrospect, the limit attacks Lucas could take advantage of combined with the increased energy loss in using those phsyical-based moves seemed rather counter-productive. Maybe i'm thinking way too deeply into this... It seemed silly to worry about things like that when battles were meant to be fun. Though it didn't seem Lucas was having too much fun with those thorns. Hmm, then again, maybe she could use that to her advantage.
"Ok Lucas, we're first up so I want you to quickly Mimic and then use those Thorns right back at her. If you need a break feel free to take a breather, no point in straining ourselves. Though if at any time Hoshiko's Taunt has worn off Taunt her again to be sure." |

"I know you're angry right now, but let's think things through rationally. MUD-SLAP him in the face, then quickly DIG underground to avoid his return fire. You'll still surface and attack him, don't worry. If ambushing him doesn't satisfy your revenge, then continue by unleashing any leftover FRUSTRATION."

Round Two: You've got mud on your face, you big disgrace!
Right off the bat, the stout fox hops forward, ignoring the net of thorns squeezing against his fur as he concentrates a decent portion of energy into Mimicking his opponent. The attack works a charm with Lucas acquiring the Custom Move Thorns to his repertoire. The poisoned dinosaur pouts crossly at its mammalian adversary, hopping a few feet across the grassy prairie whilst scraping its leaf against the tarnished ground. Scooping up a good clump of dirt and grass, Hoshiko then twirls her head-leaf like a helicopter as a large tuft of Mud slaps the Eevee square in the face. The pup whimpers in astonishment, hard-pressed to see ahead but still determined to fight back. The fox opens its mouth pulsing with a greenish aura, a sudden net of Thorns flinging forward. The web of ivy is swiftly dodged by the starter Pokémon who burrows beneath, making it all too easy with the recent accuracy drop. Not much happens for a second as the mammalian paws at his face in an attempt to scratch off some of the dirt. Suddenly! The Chikorita leaps from below, tackling the foe for a decent amount of damage from the Dig. Eevee flounders rearward, managing to regain his feet in midair as a few chips of mud clear from his mug. The frenzied Hoshiko doesn’t leave time for recovery however, adding insult to injury as she kicks and punches the defenceless fox. Tossing Lucas against the tall tree in Frustration, the grass type’s nose begins flaring as she attempts to calm down. But what’s this!? Lucas isn’t keen to let that happen, buffering the reptile’s rage with a second Taunt and crushing any thoughts of defensive moves on their part. With the round at an end, the toxic seeps further into Hoshiko and the thorns leave deeper cuts on Lucas... Ouch...

"Use SECRET POWER. Then grab the opponent with VINE WHIP and slam him against the tree. Finish with a blast of DRAGONBREATH."

"Try and get some of that stuff out your eyes, your main priority should be Psych Up however to gain your opponent's state of mind, Frustration once you recover form Vine Whip using your sense of hearing rather than sight if needed. Then remember those inflicted statuses by finishing with Facade again use that sensitive hearing of yours if your eyes continue to fail you."

Round Three: You won't like me when I'm Angry!
With her trainer’s go-ahead, Hoshiko leaps forward with a look of sheer frenzy. She closes the distance between her and the brown fox, her mouth cracking open as a white beam of light bursts forward. The blast sends Lucas back a few paces, causing him decent pain before he shifts back to an upright stance. He seems fine at first glance, however the Secret side-effect of the attack hastily takes course as sparks of yellow jump up and down the furry brown coat. The small Eevee whimpers in pain, far too locked in paralysis to offer a decent rebuttal! Of all the rotten luck! Hoshiko doesn’t seem to mind this at all, the saurapod snorting to herself before extending a twosome of slender Vines from her dotted collar. The green ropes easily wrap around the stiff foe, flinging him from the frazzled grassland and against the hefty cherry tree. Pink petals suddenly shake loose from the giant sakura in wake of the attack, the small Eevee landing headfirst before dropping lifelessly to the roots of the shrub. The duo of appendages Whip back into Hoshiko’s neck as she cackles maliciously, steadily becoming impartial to taunts effects due to her decent footing. The bruised Lucas stutters back to his paws after a few moments, a nasty bruise on his forehead saying more than enough about his riffled rage. It looked as though the Psych Up was unnecessary at this point, the angry fox cub speeding forward with a slight limp before throwing himself onto the enemy grass type. A flurry of unruly kicks and punches ensue, Chikorita screaming in pain as the mammal’s claws dig into her glossy skin in light of Eevee’s Frustration. The attack does decent damage, although Lucas’s Beauty Points are only just compensated by his Adaptability. The dinosaur then throws off its foe with a spell of Draconic energy puffed from her mouth. The glittery Breath of purple sends Eevee onto its back again, the fox soon ricocheting from where he rolled with a hardened Facade. The plethora of status conditions thwarting the evolution Pokémon only fuel the strike of force, Chikorita taking yet another drop in health as bruises and scrapes form up her body. The Toxic seeps even further into Chikorita as the lattice of Thorns continue to squeeze Eevee. Conversely it looked as though the nasty statuses didn’t have long to last, their bitter sting usually not as permanent in anime styled battles.

Round Four: Another One Bites the Dust!
The small fox starts off with a dose of Secret Power, her glossy fur shimmering a blinding white as she sends forth a beam laced with... Confusion! Yep, the beam sends Hoshiko back a pace, her mind suddenly rattled with a purple cloud as bewilderment settles in. She attempts to return the favour with Giga Drain, but the nasty status is all too much as she hurts herself in confusion. Lucas giggles cutely, hopping onto his hind-legs and waggling his paws. The mitts begin glowing a blinding white, the Metronome turning his fangs a yellow green as he pounces forward. The cub gnaws on Hoshiko’s side causing her to howl in pain, Bug Bite proving super effective. Whilst feeling weak and confused, the Chikorita tries best to relax, enhancing her brainwaves and Calming her Mind which blows away the cloud of confusion. Maintaining his winning streak, Lucas staggers forward yet again, unleashing a flurry of kicks and punches with a nasty Facade! The attack takes serious damage, the twofold status, Same-Type-Attack-Bonus, Bulked-Up muscles and Eevee’s ability all coming into consideration. However the nasty twinge in Hoshiko’s neck is nothing compared to the plethora of energy she was able to produce through Counter. The red wave discharges from the leafy sauropod, causing twice the damage she just received with Lucas shooting rearward from the massive blow. He barely manages to get to his feet, whimpering in pain. However, the net of thorns continue their chokehold, this time proving fatal as the fox with little less than 10% health previously is squeezed to a KO. Just a second later, Toxic seeps further too, the progresive poison also draining what little life Chikorita had stored...
Hoshiko Health 00% Energy 50% Status KO'd Lucas Health 00% Energy 45% Status KO'd "Lucas was first to go down... Jess and Hoshiko are the winners!" Hoshiko receives 2 levels for her victory. Lilblue on the other hand receives this nifty little That's three trophies, you're on your way to the gym challenge! Congradulations and Good Luck! Wow... What's funny is I was ready to post up with both Pokemon having less than 10% hp left, then I realised I hadn't even taken the status damage. That was a good game girls, I'm suprised it didn't last longer but that's what high-damage moves and heavy status does to a battle. See ya both next time *flees* |
