"If only one side were clearly on the side of "justice" we would refer to this as self-defence or subjugation. But this is war. "War" refers to a conflict in which both sides fight for justice."

- Hidetomo Kajomaru (Bleach character)

It's from a fictional character but it's still a good quote.

A good Pterry line, from Going Postal:

Quote:
"...well, you've got to learn to walk before you try to run, sir!"

"No!" Moist's fist thumped the table. "Never say that, Tolliver! Never! Run before you can walk! Fly before you crawl! Keep moving forward! You think we should try to get a decent mail service in the city. I think we should try to send letters any where in the world! Because if we fail, I'd rather fail really hugely. All or nothing, Mr Groat!"

Quote:
The other terror that scares us from self trust is our consistency; a reverence for our past act or word because the eyes of others have no other data for computing our orbit than our past acts, and we are loath to disappoint them.

But why should you keep your head over your shoulder? Why drag about this monstrous corpse of your memory, lest you contradict somewhat you have stated in this or that public place? Suppose you should contradict yourself; what then?

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Out upon your guarded lips! Sew them up with packthread, do. Else if you would be a man speak what you think today in words as hard as cannon balls, and tomorrow speak what tomorrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict everything you said today. Ah, then, exclaim the aged ladies, you shall be sure to be misunderstood! Misunderstood! It is a right fool's word. Is it so bad then to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood....
from Ralph Waldo Emerson's "Self-Reliance"

We read this in high school, back in 2001, 2002. Over ten years later, this passage had stuck with me, although the passage of time had rendered it a sort of specter. I looked it up again this morning to refresh my memory on how it went. Pretty damn nicely, that's how.

“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”

― Fred Rogers

Just saw this comment in response to this image upload. Judging from the replies it's gotten, it looks like I'm not the only person who thought it was quote material.

It actually isn't, even in the games it's still like that second quote, the trainers just knock down the Pokeballs before they hit their own Pokemon.
