Japanese fans using English sites
On a whim, I thought it'd be fun to see what people were tweeting about Smogon. It didn't take long for me to discover that Japanese players don't just play on sites like Pokémon Showdown and Pokémon-Online: they use resource websites like Bulbapedia and Smogon too. :o This genuinely surprises me since I'd figured that they would prefer to use their own Japanese sites to ours. But apparently some bilingual fans make good use of our sites. Here are some samples:

I didn't see any Japanese tweets mentioning Veekun, sorry. ^^; () That last tweet makes me wonder if there's something similar to the Nuzlocke that is native to Japan.

I'm not surprised; Veekun isn't terribly well known and the only reason people around here know it is because I was the one who pushed for it to be used as the ASB standard. |

Hey. Jeri. That's not cool. I used it all the time back when I was in FB right after Meowth346 (was that the name?) shut down.
But yeah, Veekun is considerably less well known despite how plentiful his information is and how concise the information is displayed. I think the issue is that it's focus is purely on displaying the data of the game and not the other aspects of Pokemon. i.e. the anime/manga. At the same time, he doesn't discuss strategy or metagaming like Smog On. This kind of leaves Veekun as just another online Pokedex. Not an Encylopedia or a Battle Hub. |
